I can see the solder (it's not welding) still burning after the flame is removed, so clearly a wax or plastic base. Aluminium powder is just there for looks. Thanks for the warning!

Tried them out under the kitchen exhaust, still felt like dying from the toxic fumes and the whole appartment smelled like I burnt it down. Still gonna give them a second try, I just bought them to fix my broken clothes horse. As far as I can tell it works by igniting a certain compound within the material that brings the aluminium particles up on temperature (exergonic reaction). But maybe it needs more time to cool down than you gave it idk.

If the work pieces being joined together are not melted, it is not welding.
These are soldering rods and they are probably quite toxic.

Not sure what product you are using but you may have better luck if you heat the parent material until it will melt the stick instead of heating the stick

You need to heat the metal after cleaning/scouring if its going to have a chance to even stick to it. That's no welding by the way, brazing/soldering at best, but again not flux nor preparation is not really adequate, so don't blame the materials. Same with the galv tube, you need to clean it first. But yeah, those rods are crap anyway

Those low temp rods are fake. The genuine ones, you need to heat up the aluminium to around 700c for the welding rods to melt on contact & bonds as strong as the rest of the aluminium. They don't work on steel or any other alloys except aluminium. Also, you don't apply heat to the rods themselves & the fact some of them were still burning after removing the flame, tells me they're fake & shouldn't be used at all, because who knows what harmful chemicals are burning out of them.
I've been buying mine from Temo, now & again eBay when I need them. The size & look of them should be long, thing, shiny & not looking like a block of old lead. Been making stuff out of aluminium with these for a few years now & made a wind turbine for the garden 2 years ago using wielding rods & it's still going strong.

@@TechondoReviews Any other way to send you a link? I've tried 3x posting here & they just keep removing the entire post.
Best I can do is google Aluminium 4043 or 4043A welding rods & they must be flux-core or they're not the right ones. Temu sell them which I tried to link you but this place just remove the post. As long as it says flux core aluminon welding rods, they should be the ones. Should look like shiny metal rods not a dull grey.
