    Wow amazing detail. Love the extra machines at Helisika. Fire looks neat. Well done.

    The little undulations really make it, little shadows and hollows etc. The sim could make these little features procedurally, really add to the feel of the ground.

      Cheers mate.
      Yeah the detail really takes the landscape to another dimension for low level helicopter ops. Will be interesting to see what they do with FS2024.

    Get the Airforce skin and fly that thing down the Desert Road... 👍The sound of those Huey blades never gets old.

    Have you heard of the MSFS map replacement tool? Gives you access to updated Bing maps data with higher quality. Unsure if this would muck up the mesh data

    • @simonclark7082
      @simonclark7082  4 дні тому +1

      @@pyoto4686 yes I have that too. I don't find alot of difference with the latest bing in the areas I fly but I do like the arcgis stuff for it's resolution. It doesn't affect the messy at all since it's just aerial imagery overlay.

    Also where did you get the 1 Meter mesh? Did it impact FPS at all?

      I have been importing the Terrain mesh myself. Open Topography website has all the data available but it's abit of a process getting it in and can only do small areas at a time. I've noticed a slightly longer load in to the sim from the hangar as such but with the terrain LOD set to 100 any fps hit is unnoticeable to me. I did today but that was only when running OBS as well. Without recording it's fantastic.

    Epic mate! I live in Nz too. Would be unreal if you could screen record even just a few minutes of how you actually get the data processed and where you put it etc. would be so keen to get this set up on my sim. Thanks!

      Thanks mate. Flick me an email at tussockgamecreations@outlook.com and I can send you a link for the area I've done in the kaimanawas to try out. It can be performance heavy.

    And people wonder why I do most of my sim flying within where I live ... Will you be releasing this ?

    • @simonclark7082
      @simonclark7082  4 дні тому

      Absolutely understand. Theres so much to see and explore. I'm not planning to officially release it as such as its freely available data in open topo or Linz, but if you email me at tussockgamecreations@outlook.com I'll send you a link to what I've done so far to try out in the sim.

    Great demo mate, I'm interested in your opinion on the new FFB joystick bases coming to market this year as you've flown with the benchmark FFB base. Are you going to try them out?

    • @simonclark7082
      @simonclark7082  4 дні тому

      Thanks alot. I probably won't get a chance to try them out but I would love to see how they compare to the rhino which I absolutely cannot fly without now. The software gets better all the time too. Feeling etl, vrs, and other things like hydraulic failure, servo control transparency etc is incredible not to mention hardware force trim.

    What headset are you using? I have a Reverb g2 and I use the OpenXR mirror for OBS. The problem I have is that when I record a video all I see is out of the windshield, almost as if it is zoomed in too far. I would like to be able to capture the instrument panels a bit like in your video. Did you have to work with OBS to get the best field of view?

    • @simonclark7082
      @simonclark7082  4 дні тому

      I'm using a Pimax Crystal, and I use OBS as well. You pretty much have to resize the capture window and make it as center as possible. I find putting the obs window in the middle of the eye view I'm trying to record helps get it centered. It will always have a zoomed effect abit as you have to cut off alot top and bottom due to the resolution of the individual eye views.

    • @simonclark7082

      Click around the side of the viewport in obs and drag until you see red squares. Then click and drag those.

    • @simonclark7082

      Its quite a process. Converting the projections of the DEM from NZTM2000 to WGS84 and then injecting via an app called FSD Elevation Editor, and then manually editing all the outside tiles in the sim to remove the conversion errors to WGS84.

      @bryanholland6987 www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/resources/elevation-editor.287/ is the app to use.
      I don't really do tutorials very well but this one has pretty good basic instructions with it. It's a fantastic little app.
