Looking for cheaper tackle in Decathlon

- Why pay more, I decided to change my outlook on the channel and will be looking at various products from the internet and shops where tackle can be cheaper. Now i know many people love a good shop but the roll of shops are changing as more and more people troll the internet looking for cheaper prices. I have found many good deals in Decathlon, ranging from tiger nuts, bait, Winter clothes, rods, reels and much more.
What's your thoughts.

Good vlog , never thought about looking in there. Checked out the website after watching, there's some good deals to be had. Many thanks and keep them coming
Thanks 🙏 fella
Thanks for the info Carl great vid , keep up the good work mate.
I go to France regularly and always visit a Decathlon. Their gear is superb. The clothing is top notch. Their Quecha hiking boots for instance I've had a pair for 6 years and hammered them. Quarter the price of my old Miendl ones and better. Their hunting / fishing clothing is excellent. I suppose it all comes down to the snobbery of walking around as an unpaid advertising hoarding for the "premiere " brands.
Me too obs
2019 summer I caught loads of carp on the decathlon wellmix boilies biggest was 26lb. I would say its more location half the time.
Stockport Decathlon and Roman lakes in little over a week. Always visit the two when im back in the Uk.
The Vlogs are great mate. Trolls are only jealous. Keep going bud✌
Thank you Deano and I hope you catch
Just come across your channel as this vlog came up as a suggested watch.. Didn't realise that Decathlon did so much stuff for fishing.. Going to check out some of your other stuff.. But it's a sub from us all at the Carp Crew Screamers.. Tight lines and wet nets.. 👍🎣
Cheers and I Appreciate it 👍✅
Love Decathlon. Bought cycling, fishing and sports gear from them and been well pleased.
It’s a great store
nice one carl, we don't have a decathlon round here but loads of my mates shop in the stockport one, i always wondered what it was like. don't blame you for sacking the live feeds, i gave them a wide birth from the off👍
They was really good fun but I realised I needed to get my vlogs right
fair play mate, quality over quantity👍
Stockport is always stocked well. 👍🏼👍🏼
This Decathlon stuff is perfect for people starting out, you don't need to spend a fortune on gear from the off! Its amazing how many full setups you see for sale at less than 50% RRP from people who tried fishing and didnt like it (and thats fine, its not for everyone) and it is always top end gear, its like buying a Porsche for your first car!
Mat Gregory your 100% right
I use there boilies. Had my pb on them. They are a good bait in my eyes. Caperlan is a big bait/tackle company in France. Beats waisting your dollar on the likes of Nash, mainline and sticky’s when they have caught me just as many fish. Most will ignore but it’s good info here
I agree great quality🎣🎣
Surely them boiles ain't no good for the carps health
my mate bought some of the monster crab boilies the other day. Tank tested them and the were still rock hard after 2 days... I wouldn't want to use them!
Love it well done 👍 I am the same clothing and lose feed bait
Cheers dude 👍
There's "Trolls" every where. Watching this vid you have 19 dislikes, Why! because they are jealous of your blogging, simple as that. Keep up the good work.
That’s just the way it goes buddy I don’t notice them anymore.
Sometimes I get one before 10 seconds has lapsed lol 😂
I use the white chocolate 14mm boilies work a treat for me caught loads of carp on them
Great video Carl thanks for the tips 👍🎣
No worries Dan
Used to work in that store was national product trainer about 8 years ago helped make some of the gear over in france shame the uk stores dont care about the fishing as much as the french ones
You might be right
Absolutely love decathlon for my tackle and gear etc. It's extremely convenient being able to buy live bait at 7.30pm on a Saturday night!! Great video mate, new subscriber.
block them mate if they give you greif just like leon anyway great vlogg with great ideas for those who are on tight budgets im fortunate enough to work for angling direct but if i didnt id shop there for my gear as we have 1 in high wycombe mate keep up the good work bud😆😆
I’ve blocked a few but it’s not about fighting but loving c
Go outdoors and angling direct own brands are as good as all the high priced tackle tart stuff good fisherman can catch with any tackle decathlon near me was good until moved units now doesnt have much tackle but get most my fishing cloths boots from there keep up the vids a honest genuine person who doesnt think he should be in hollywood 👍
Yip agree
I have their feeder chair , good stuff , only thing is , it seems they work with staff who have an interest for their hobby , so in Eindhoven there is little stock but in Antwerpen Begium there is a guy who is a angler and he takes good care of his department so i am going to see the store thursday , looking forward !
5:20 i got that combo. For the price, it's amazing, the rod is great quality with a lot of metal parts, and the reel is a tank! I recommend getting some of these if you are on a budget, or if you don't like spending a lot of money on tackle.
Your on a winner and the only people who complain have spent to much lol 😂
I very interested in this combo as I'm just starting out carp fishing. Does it last?
I love a bargain, but I have also experienced the classic buy cheap buy twice.
Is it worth getting this or spending £85 on a bigger brand (Sonik)?
Just subbed mate. Looking forward to more vids. 👍🏼
Simon that’s brilliant and try my best to make sure you enjoy them.
I do shooting aswell as fishing and always buy the clothing from Decathlon. Just picked up a cracking winter coat last week for both 👍
It’s great gear isn’t it
Carl Gee Northwestern fishing. Aye, really good quality and a good price.
Decathlon's own red boilies are absolutely amazing I've never failed to catch on them i use the rod and reel too
I’m glade you’ve had success using them, cool 😎
Might try them...
We have decathlon in Quebec now it’s amazing how affordable their stuff is
Good isn’t it
I buy online mostly but I do go to my local tackle shop if I need some extras and not have to wait
“I like the pink pop ups” i don’t know why but that made me laugh
Lol 😂 so did I
Carl Gee Northwestern fishing. 😂😂
Brilliant
Thanks for the info 👍
Your very welcome
I like Decathalon but as a beginner fisherman I dont understand most of the rods that are in there nice to see someone explaining
Go online via rod website and youlll find the info.
www.harrisonrods.co.uk/ this will help you start to learn
Great vlog mate, variety is always good and doesn’t always have to be about physically fishing... being on the bank is the end product! Keep ‘em coming 👍
P.S. Just let the trolls know they are merely footnotes in your life... useless ones n’all! 😜
Exactly but hopefully I’m fishing this weekend
I used garlic pink pop ups by caperlan and they works for me very good flavour
I wish we had one of them around here (wigan) we have a go out doors but its not as cheap as that place mate , keep the vids coming thumbs up pal
Thank you 🙏 www.decathlon.co.uk/
I have a Decathlon and a Go Outdoors literally next door to each other where I am, so I've really had a good chance to compare the two. Go outdoors has some nice products but the prices are expensive and I think this is because they really want to force people onto their loyalty card scheme which gives you a discount on purchases. This I feel only takes the price to reasonable though and definitely not cheap like decathlon.
One in Bolton has a bit pal
Asda home baking is my new bait shop. I'm forced to buy anything that I can't make for my self. Which is Rods, reels, bite alarms, line and hooks. I push myself to make as much as I can an really get all zen doing it...
Awsome...might try my local decathlon in warrington
You’ll love it Paul
I bought a £30 fishing rod and reel from sports direct and caught my PB 17lb mirror carp
Well done Alex
Hi great video if you don't mind not everyone has money to spend on fishing gear as it's getting more costly for less I look all over for fishing gear as I was told it's not how much your gear has cost it's how you use it like I paid over £150 for a rod I also bought a rod same spec but different brand for £55 so I tested them no difference both caught me fish both did the same job so it's just show's you that it's down to you and how you fish well I do prefer your video's and some of the comments wow people need to chill out and stop getting worked up he's just trying and showing us all different fishing ideas also to save us all some money thank you keep up with the video's and hope to see more like this take care
Well said if you don't mind me saying all he's trying to do is help us and to save everyone some money it's not about how much your rod and reel cost well to me I will never spend a lot of money on fishing gear as i look around I don't have money to buy all new fishing gear or spend a fortune on new bait's like this man show's us a shop that can help people like us like me well I will be buying gear from there also bits from wish I don't care if anyone says it's cheap rubbish it's how you fish not how much it cost you or about the brand
It’s all about fun 🤩
Decathlon are coming to Ireland next year thank god.I cant wait .
They have some great stuff from bait to rods and reels ....picked up the carp rod and reel combo in decathlon Wandsworth London for £44.99 thinking oh yeah won't be that good ...was very surprised ...it felt pretty decent .. great start up gear or for those on a tight budget ...i currently use Shimano alivio rods reduced from 50 quid to £19,99 each ...so I bought 5....3 fishing and a spom ,marker rods fantastic rods up to 60 ...70 yards.. which is pretty much most of my fishing...caught my pb last year of 26.5lb common on those rods... at farlows lake no less ....check decathlon out when they open up ....bargains... all the best..
Thanks for the info Carl -
No problem at all
My most local tackle shop(which is actually 4 mile away) is huge, constantly full of people walking around filling trollies and like the other tackle shops I buy from online, they also sell online themselves. I like buying from them as it's the only fishing tackle shop remaining around here these days(they have also expanded recently to a building over 5 times bigger than their previous one) and offers great service, but it's got to be said that it's better buying online sometimes as you save money.
I recently bought a fox pod for £75 online for example, whereas it was £90 in my local shop. I also got a bivvy from them for £200, which is £250 in my local tackle shop and an unhooking mat for £77, which is again, £90 in my local tackle shop. Just from those 3 products alone I have literally saved £78, not to mention I sold my old Bivvy, Unhooking mat and Pod for good prices on ebay and made a lot of my money back that way. For me, buying and selling is always about doing what is best for your pocket.
There was a smaller tackle shop down the road that I always used to go to. Everything I bought was from there as it was a small family business, although one which sold top quality tackle at fair prices, but unfortunately the owner passed away and that shop is no longer there. There was also a fantastic shop for bait close by, but that had to be closed down around 5 years back due to the guy's rent on the building rising too high and him having to move on.
The problem isn't really people not visiting the tackle shops themselves anymore though, but about tackle shops themselves expanding and selling online. Let's not forget, all the channels we buy from on ebay are tackle shops themselves.
A very honest clip, sports direct and go outdoors also do some good gear for cheap. It still amazes me how brainwashed some people are about certain brands.
Cheers Zaki
I get most of my tackle accept from rods reels and stuff like that from decathalon
In the past I used decathlon but they are selling less and less tackle in there shops now a days so iv switched to angling direct !
It depends on the shop
Is that the one in Stockport, if it is it’s my fave Decathlon on my work travels
Yes chap
Didn't know they sold fishing tackle Carl ,
Went to the Telford shop weekend 100 mile round trip didn't have anything like as much as that shop your in .
That’s sad to hear
@@Carlfishing no worries mate I've been up to Stockport a couple of times since 👍
I have been buying my gear from decathlon for at least the last 15 yrs in France. Even their entry prices are reasonable quality gear. And not just for fishing. I just got a Boker magnum knife for 16euros! The same on Amazon was 32,99euros. Half price!! So don't always assume Amazon is cheaper folks. Shop around and not just on the net.
Amazon are always cheaper than things on amazon but like you rightly said not always cheapest in general
I was once accused of shoplifting from my local tackle shop. They thought it was suspicious that I popped in every few days, touched everything and then left without buying a thing... turns out I was going in to check products out, and then buy them online for less!
Thats what I do mate, I look on line for stuff then go to the shop and have a look at the things on my short list then buy it online.
Sad tho isn’t it, you a hero? (might get a pic of an easy fish too put on Instagram)
Tackle shop is gone, and unfortunately so has “carp fishing” . The waters have gone the same way as the tackle shops.
Swapped out for cheaper easier high reward nonsense.
Not moaning, just the degradation of man, it’s inevitable, unavoidable, so all good!
@@geoffsaunderson5766 At the end of the day...I'm getting the same item for less money
@@TOMMII0108 yeah I got that
I do exacly the same
I have to say Go Outdoors is similar. I get all my rods there.
Don't worry about trolls . You will get it , that's the internet for you .
The more expensive caperlan extreme rods are top quality I have 3 if them, Just as good as the leading fishing brands.
A lot of stuff without the carp tax never a more truthful statement said
Absolutely
i have never been to a decathlon , I must give it them a look. Probably not the £2.50 kg boilies lol
I know you won’t Graham
Graham Rowland your be surprised by there boilies. I used them. Bought a 10kg of the liver in 20mm. I had my pb of 24.4 on them. I use them all the time now. I save a stack of money now and catch just as many if not more fish. Caperlan is a big bait company in france
Go Outdoors is worth a look as well.
I know this is an old video but i always shop around on the internet to find the cheapest of everything, looking at the prices in that shop i have found cheaper on eBay for example the dynamite baits and other brands too, i am not brand specific and will happily buy things from poundland that can be used for fishing ha ha.
Each to their own I guess, everyone has their own preference. Cheers 🍻 for watching
@@Carlfishing I also recently bought a prologic classic carp rod and the quality is a bit poor with light defects, the SONIK Vader X rod is way better quality
haters will hate bud sod them but my 2 peneth i would like to see more fishing take care carl tight lines
Yes more fishing coming soon enough, I’ve been very very ill this year so hopefully I’m out as soon as I’m better.
Killer
Yo this guy has me in stitches, skip to 4.30 and listen to the way he says the flavour
That’s not the flavour but the French name for the range of baits Bill
Local tackle shop and I bought a rod from sports direct other day buy local.or we will loose them simple as that
I'm just starting out carp fishing. Does this stuff last?
I love a bargain, but I have also experienced the classic buy cheap buy twice.
Is it worth getting the £45 rod & reel combo or spending £80 on a bigger brand's basic stuff (Sonik rod £40 Shimano reel £40)?
There is nothing wrong with them, it’s a massive company with massive buying power without the need for carp tax
@@Carlfishing Thank you for the reply.
A friend of mine is teaching me carp fishing & is a self confessed tackle snob, but he does admit it & says there are some bargains to had.
I showed him the rod & reel combo & he said it looks alright, but it probably won't last. I like the fact there's a 2 year gaurentee, so I guess if something does go wrong I can simply swap it for a new one.
My worries are the quality as some, not all of Decathlon's stuff isn't the greatest.
Do you use it yourself?
I let’s but this to bed, ever year there is a conference in China which sells fishing tackle and many people attend.
Most tackle companies use the same factories and have licence for a limited period.
So UK companies brand tackle made by someone else.. if you believe everything you read in media you will sadly become a sheep believing everything you see.
I buy tackle I actually like and use and actually like.
I’ve many different brands and have no preferred brand.
The funny thing about anglers is they always defend their reason for buying and do this in a aggressive manner.
Us what you want and enjoy using it. Only be judged by yourself and your happiness
Hi got a question about spoding can i use me normal rod or do i need a special one thanks
It’s funny you should say this, I personally would only use a spod rod designed for the job
I love going to those place's i can get everything from there except my wife lol nice video tho but I do like getting my fishing gear from there even tho some times i go to my local fishing shop
I get my tackle from my local tackle shop and angling direct
The carplan brand boilies are rubbish.
If u go direct to Bait salesmen u can get boilies at £35-40 for 5 kg.

ARE THEY ANY GOOD?? THE BOILIES??
Is that the one in warrington?!
Has anyone used the wellmix scopex boilies from here ive just ordered 10kg bag
Yes I do in France when I go. It’s fish food lol 😂
@@Carlfishing how did they perform
Sorry to hear your giving up the live vlogs, but that`s your prerogative. At the end of the day you must put yourself 1st. Anyway, just thought I`d let you know, I bought the bag the other week when I went into the store for bait, seemed like a bargain lol. So yes I do buy some items from there already, plus from Go-Outdoors as well as Angling direct (Handforth store) And my local World of water store (Timperley). I think a lot of people shop around anyway no matter what it`s for, so are anglers any different??
It’s all good isn’t it, I often pop into angling direct from time to time myself.
Usually on my way 🎣 fishing and order on the bank so it’s at home when I get back.
The same place as you decathlon it's cheap but you get more for your money and it's strong stuff
By the way Carl not all Decathlon stores carry fishing equipment and bait!
Never knew that as I’ve only been in this one ☝️
I love going to those place's i can get everything from there except my wife lol nice video tho
I went to the one on Coventry at the weekend had no fishing there at all
That’s not good but look on the website if needed
Shame there ain't no stores in Wales :-( or Angling direct's
The DEATH of the tackle shop, I’m happy to be part of the generations that enjoyed that place, the smell! Mystery!! The magic!! So sad init…the future
It’s the internet companies doing it mate. AKA the bargain hunters
Go outdoors also have loads of cheap gear
I’ll take a look
I buy my fishing tackle at Cabela's bass wherehouse
Cool
Just do what you enjoy trolls are a thing all forums and social media platforms have to endure nowadays. I don't have to buy tackle for a while as I buy all the small bits in bulk online the main items I bought the best I could afford ad look after them .Bait is the only thing I get but only once every couple of years.
Thank Danny
Hi Carl, wish i lived up north, lot dearer down south :[
I know
High there where abouts is the store your shopping in. If you don't mind im from rossendale greater Manchester
Stockport but it’s still closed
@@Carlfishing thanks it looks like a good store thanks for your reply carl
Any 1 ever used crafty catcher/ cop dock mill

bank tackle or sharp tackle for me
Carl for the last 5 years.I have been buying 99% off my Tackle,Bait and the other little bits like head-torches,Bivvy lights stoves ect.
Alot off people will say support your local tackle shop,But when i can get items for sometimes up-to 35% to 50% cheaper online,i would be a fool not to.I have four young boys growing fast.they cost me a fortune.
Also 99% off the stuff i buy online are post free.so there money saved on petrol.
Online shopping also comes into its own with the house-hold shopping now.free delivery with the big three supermarkets.all that hassle off parking. Queuing up kids moaning can i have this can i have that.Online is the way to go in my house.
Gonna have a mosey up-to decathlon though.funny thing is i bought my son a stunning mountain bike from decathlon only this weekend gone.guess what.free delivery and was at my door within 24 hours off ordering online!
Mikey.
When you’ve got a family you’ve got to watch the pennies every time, there are options everywhere these days
Hi Mike I agree with u because even my local tackle shop is so xpensive that u need a bank to go in there with. I have often tried to do deals with him as in bulk buying to make it cheaper and he didn't wanna hear. So I say bollucks to them and I hope they go bust . Just goes to show how much they must be making on these products if other stores can come in at such cheap prices.
Great vlog. Cheap is good
Quality at the right price
hi Carl which branch did you visit in this vlog?? cheers Tim
Stockport
They came to Australia today
That’s cool as
Do you think the boiles will be good from there
They are basic baits and many people have various opinions without facts so I guess so.
Carl Gee Northwestern fishing. Thank you just bought a kg bag of monster crab so I will be testing them cheers.
@@leroyboomtingbrown5699 did u test them mate?
There's no robin red in dynamites bait check there bags for the certificate....
Like I care lol 😂 I’m only a customer chap.
What's the point then
Adam Rowland there are affordable products available everywhere and it doesn’t have to be elitist.
I never said that m8 but there selling products with ingredients that aren't in there
i stopped buying cheap boilies when i watched everyone around me on well made ones catching. Do not skimp on your bait guys and girls it is by far in the top 3 for most important factors in catching carp or fish of any kind. I challenge you to fish a cheap bulk rubish boilie side by side with a quality well priced one for 2 years like i did. see the results for yourself. try different waters/locations etc but always fish them side by side. I only use a quality bait now will never go back.
I love sweet corn cheap as chips and smashes water on a budget.. great comment Fella
Deano Fish28 you know caperlan is a well established bait company in France don’t you? 🤔
angilng direct it got everything
Not everything but marketable brands without research of new companies
Bloody bargain 😎🎣
I’ve always found amazon massively overpriced compared to other sites like eBay and what not
I hate amazon if I’m honest and never use it
People have to up their price because of the fees imposed by Amazon.
No one needs to buy things from nash, korda and fox anymore😂👍🏻🎣🎣👍🏻👊
Yeah... im going to decathalon now 👍🏻🎣
Why no more live
simon shepherd it’s not what I need to do
Check out the fighting fisherman on ytube. Make you own boilies for a fraction of the cost of buying off the shelf stuff.
I have already, he’s in the corner waiting on a ding ding
i get my tackle from decathlon as well
Instead of buying a 9ft 3lb test curve 100 quid carp rod i just go to decathalon and get one for 25 quid😂👍🏻🎣
Same! Great tackle for quite a small price!
I occasionally watch your vlogs, there's no way you should stop doing anything you like doing cos of some little carp chavs, I'd take it as a compliment that their taking time out of their little mundane lives to give you shit
I just need to focus on Vlogs and fishing in the future.
There boiles are crap they break down , way to fast , ok for half a day/but no good to pile in they go to mush
Just do what Leon did and just blocked them as they trolled him
Feed the trolls they grow so nothing more I guess
Can get gas cheaper from a tackleshop
