saddlepiggy | The Purple Pig for vs= Pulcar C cause igorawr... nc= 4 carabines + standart carabine to auraxium to get the reward carabine tr= u got all the dakkas u need!!!dakka!
If you are TR or VS you need to get a bolt action Sniper rifle, only NC starts with one If you want to use the flash, it comes with no gun, get anything except the basilisk If you want to use the Galaxy (don't) all it's guns need to be replaced If you want to use the liberator you should get the rear gun replaced You should buy an SMG to use with infiltrator
By the way, the best way to rack up certs is to be a medic. Sure, you might complain that you're always in the back, but you're a practically demigod of life energy when you're upgraded so it sorta balances out.
I have too much fun as medic, some of the weapons they have are insanely good. the NS 11A and the Yumi are two of my favorite weapons in the game. Also the TORQ-9 (TR only) is such an insane gun but I rarely see people using it.
Great video, I totally agree. But in terms of Sniper class, it may not be very right. You will have to choose between Semi Auto or Bolt action rifle. And at start of game you will either have Semi auto or Bolt Action based on faction, so you will need to buy the weapon the weapon you like if needed.
Yes good and fair point AD KN. Whilst not open to choose which type you prefer, you still have a strong default sniper rifle but if you really want to specialise in something other than the default for a sniper rifle, the other options will need to be unlocked.
The truth of the matter however is : Ultimately you need both. Depending on the situation at hand, one is obviously superior to the other. This Ain't call of duty with No scope BS... at least most of the time.
antwan1357 Unless you've never played a shooter before you have an idea of what you want your sniper to do though if you just want some spammability then yes the semi-auto is fine if you want the one shots though you need to have the bolt action
I still honestly wish that everyone had a starter SMG as well. You don’t NEED it, but it’s a significantly strong playstyle for those interested in infiltrator.
That's where everyone can pitch in! See a new player finding difficulty with an issue that Cyrious has covered or that you think will benefit from his advice? Get them to see even just one video, and you have helped that player and the game have a chance at being experienced.
Gah, sorry I didn't get this video out sooner, I really wanted to follow up my first video quick with this. Work ya know? To be honest you will be fine, you will make more certs and get what you need. Just want to get it out there that you don't need to buy weapons to be good.
When I first started playing, I thought the starting Vanu LMG, the Orion, was the worst gun ever. It was only after wasting certs on new LMGs that I realized how good the Orion really was. But with that said, I think players should go ahead and buy that new gun if they feel the game is getting stale.
Of course if you don't like the type of default gun given, go try out others in the VR and look em up. Trial them even if you can and have fun as the end goal! But don't get lost in chasing guns thinking they are the end content, they are additional tools for how to have fun shooting (if that makes sense)?
This statement is very true: But with that said, I think players should go ahead and buy that new gun if they feel the game is getting stale. Hopefully people get that, buy something if you want to shake it up a bit. But don't feel like you must buy to be compeitive.
I have around 10 characters and more hours played than I'd like to admit... What I'd recommend to buy to a new player: 1.- Level 1 Ammo Dispenser for Sunderer. (50 certs) Gives you easy certs and something to do when you are moving with the zerg between bases. Even better, try to gun for others on every vehicle you see. 2.- Just one M12 Kobalt for Sunderer. (200 certs) This is a steal. The best anti-infantry option by far after the Fury nerf. The trick is to do fast clicks instead of firing in auto. Switch seats to use it if you are driving alone. Maybe they'll nerf it. People cry... :) 3.- A secondary weapon for your mbt (big tank of your faction). E540 Halberd (875 certs) or maybe Saron if you are Vanu. People will want to gun for you and your tank will be twice as effective. Big cert maker. 4.- NS-44L Blackhand revolver (1000 certs) Many won't agree on this one for a newbie, but stay with me. Just buy it and equip it on every class, specially on Stalker Infiltrator. Have fun double-clicking heads. 5.- Vets will hate me for this, but spend into your MAX. Consider it as your training wheels. Will make your certs back and more... Other things: ● If you are Vanu or TR and really want to play sniper, buy a bolt action sniper. NC have it by default. ● If you want to play close range infiltrator, Google "Planetside 2 codes" and you can get a smg for free. You can equip it on other classes too. ● Don't buy any rocket launcher until you auriax the default. Lock-ons are a waste. Won't make you certs. ● Don't play as a medic/repair bot. With so many players, PS2 is just a meatgrind. You'll die a lot by playing that way and it's not a fun playstyle. ● Heavy Assault should be your go to class for "standard engagements". Equip the default shotgun if you know you'll be in a small room defending a capture point or something like that. Have fun while it lasts.
That's so unfair. When I first played this I had to unlock the grip, the optics, the ammo, and by that time I'd gotten bored. I've come back though and I've bought the semi-auto Warden for NC and it is badass.
Lmao I'm watching this gameplay and it seems you are always playing against noobs with 0 awarenes... They are just running around you and don't notice you at all... How am I always matched in battles where EVERY enemy knows perfectly how to play and I'm dead before I can even say "oh fuck my life"?
This means your positioning is bad, try adjusting your angle of attack. They know exactly where you are because they are expecting you to come from that direction.
I especially enjoy the moments where I’m the only one in a group of 5 or more to get their shit turned upside down by one random guy turning a corner behind friendly lines
Hey man, I recently started this game and did what you said not to do in this vid but this would really help other new players who have watched this vid before they start. Great helpful vid bro 👍
If you're not too progressed into your character, save yourself some time with unlocking and redo your character :) Consider it this way, do you have a lot of stuff already unlocked? If so, don't worrt about it, if you're hovering around BR20-30, make a new character and if you're less than Battle Rank 20, 100% make a new character and start over because you are missing out on a lot of free exp via unlocked aspects. Also remember, max nano weave is only on Heavy Assault. Medic gets a nano-regen faster recharge suit slot, Light Assault gets Advanced Shield Capacitor maxed out, Engineer gets Flak armour maxed and Infiltrator gets a non-shimmer Suit Slot ability (so when you are shot, you don't 'spark up')
For new NC troopers: get a foregrip and dot sight for your NC1 Gauss Rifle, and a foregrip, compensator, and dot sight for your NC6 Gaus SAW. You don't need new guns, since your starting weapons are the apex of firearms. EDIT: Once you've got the basic attachments, upgrading the medical applicator and repair tool are vital, as well as your passives. What passive doesn't really matter, so long as you use it. Armor is likely the best, but I still run shield regen and love it. The first weapons you should buy are an AA lock on rocket launcher for heavy assault and anti tank mines for engineer, as those two weapons dramatically expand your ability to fight back. After that, there's no rush to spend certs.
When i was new i did the smart thing! I bout a submarine gun for infultrator to sute my idea of an invisible light assault. And i bout the sniper pistol. Becouse i like the idea of a sniping light assoult. I mean, they can fly to the mountains and snipe! And now the infultrator can keep his long range while using a rapidfire submarine gun as his primary. Grate right?
I think some weapons are OK to buy early, like the SAS-R which costs 650 and enables you to play in a completely different way than with a starting sniper.
I think one of the few exceptions to this rule is if you want to main a different class of weapon. The best example i can think of is buying the Archer as an engineer. While the base weapons are great you aren't going to do much to max's and nothing to vehicles with them. As an engineer (depending on play style) you can often find yourself around or in a cluster of vehicles, both friendly and hostile repairing and what not. It's nice to be able to damage them and pick off infantry in the distance.
For awhile VS didn't have bullet drop, but then it was added to a lot of their weapons. I don't even know which ones do and which ones do not have it now.
Started playing back in 2012 sometime after launch playing on an old laptop. It was fun but I always felt like I didn't really help anyone because I never really got many kills, nor did I understand the game very well. I stuck to support classes, but I still grinded for new weapons thinking they would help. Got back into playing a week or so ago with the same mindset, a newer computer, and a fresh start on NC. Until I found your videos the other day I was still stuck in the same rut and not enjoying the game as much. Watched basically all of your guides, very helpful information that I would recommend to any new player or returning ones who may have dropped the game for the same issues I had. Great videos man!
I bought a Steam bundle for the game when i started my planetside career. It had a bunch of empire specific sidearm and primary gun equivalents for each faction. DBG removed them from steam at some point for some reason.
Contact DBG and/or Steam customer support to chase those items up IF you are saying your purchased items are gone. It is confirmed that the bundles are no longer available for sale, however.
yeah those bundles were kickass. They do have a nice newplayer bundle you can purchase these days that is a little bit different but still a good deal.
You could also add that the starting weapons have a "S" variant on the shop, that is basically the SAME weapon, but you are free to add more attachments. If you loved your starting weapon and you want to be able to customize it a bit, then you should try the "S" variants. For my heavy I use my T9 CARV-S with compensator, rail and high velocity ammo for long range fights, and I switch to soft point ammo and laser sight for close range combat. Getting S variants will save you from buying different weapons for every scenario and they are really cheap! These variants on carbines allow to attach them grenade launchers, smoke launchers and underbarrel shotgun.
This might be the best gun-science video I've ever seen. You don't get unnecessarily specific and you shed all the light that needs to be shed on the general picture.
people never mention that by sticking with the same weapon you receive a lot of certs for getting the auraxium for the weapon. you get 200 certs with 1159 kills plus you get certs along the journey to that total.
Well it may be late, but remember, all classes starts off with two primary weapon except for Infiltrator. And it’s only the TR that has a burst firing pistol, where as NC and VS are semi auto. The only way to get the true cqc weapons for them are buying an smg or full auto pistol
Back when I first started playing, I wanted to buy all of these weapons and ended up with maybe 8 or 9 for each faction before I reached 25. I was spamming revives and heals, and the money came quick, especially during the 2x cert events. No regrets for me.
While it is true for most of the weapons available, there are exceptions. The Archer is quite unique and a good gun to have. Battle rifles are not available by default and there is no default gun that can fill their niche. On the other hand, I cannot remember if I had to buy a shotgun or if it came by default but if I had to, I'd rather have my certs.
But you said that you should only purchase a new weapon after auraxing one, but you cant auraxium a weapon til you buy more to complete the directive that auraxium the weapon. Sorry if im being a pain for you but im just a bit confused
Disagree. Now that the VS and TR starting semi-auto sniper rifles have a 'Ballastics Computer' attachment, those weapons HAVE NO AIM DOWN SIGHT SWAY which means perfect accuracy adjusting for recoil. Shoot, wait half a second, shoot again and you will be dead accurate as long as you can track a moving target. Stationary targets are toast doubly so.
Muzzle velocity on specific - long range - bolt action sniper rifles would be quicker true and help with making sure you hit a target once you get used to again tracking. The point I make however, is that tracking a target is the only issue now with the ballistics computer attachment for default VS and TR semi auto sniper rifles; not having to worry about timing scope sway which is a huge advantage in itself (albeit different to bolt action). It truly goes to compliment the asymmetrical balance you can still achieve in having different weapons achieve the same goal (killing opponents).
True, they don't get a single shot sniper. But they get a rapid re-fire semiautomatic rifle that has no scope sway. It's a pretty damn awesome weapon, even though you don't get the single shot kills.
Great video, I would like to add that you are right but not all classes start with the proffecient weapon, the sniper class starts with a crappy bolt action sniper, almost every sniper is better, the medic and assault and engineer start with sub par carbine, also not the best, shotguns are locked and have to be purchased, if you start with a heavy then your fine with the base saw, it depends on your main class,
Yeah, I had a similar experience in that I bought a lot of different carbines and forgot the Trac 5 was even a gun. So when I wanted another mid range weapon I was scratching my head for where the TR niche was aside from the Cougar and AMC(?). Realised the Trac 5 was a thing and enjoyed it immensely.
I get destroyed by new players and their default guns. In fact, the default guns were some of my fastest auraxium weapons. So freaking balanced in any situation. When I started planetside 2, the first gun I unlocked was the NS-11 through the cash cards and the Pulsar C. For about a year or two, I never even touched the default weapons and when I finally did, boy did I regret not starting with them. When it comes to planetside 2, new players today have it soooo good compared to a year or more ago.
Yep, yep, yeerp. Just replied to another poster saying the same issue, there was a valley between release and a couple years ago when new players really were in a big disadvantage in every form (not pay to win argument but just grinding or die until you have grinded enough).
Dunno what weapons that was, but I start running with Sniper in the beginning, but was killing ppl just in 3-5 shots, then I finally switched the weapon (I don't remember the names of that weapons) and start killing in oneshot almost every target I hit, maybe I did something wrong in the beginning, but difference was huge, then tried to run with medic, but there was not many players running around at time when I was playing the game, so that was not fun.
Yeah population ebbs and flows. Try to tell us what gun helped you a lot more btw, do you mean switching from a semi auto sniper rifle to a bolt action one? Would typically explain the quicker time to kill.
Yeah back in the beta, I learnt pretty quickly after dying a lot that I would need allies to help survive the experience and make it fun enough, that's where I think a lot of the pitfalls happen for new players, they don't have enough connections with other players to squad up, work together/around each other and enjoy the game. The balance is getting into a much better place over the years, was very expiremental in the first year or so since they didnt know what the vision of the game is but it seems to aiming for something specific and I think overall, the different components of infantry, air, and vehicles are pretty well rounded but of course it's the issue of when they are combined. Hopefully by the end of the year the new updates will settle down this specific issue and we can go from there. Also 48v48 I think is where the game best shines in a decent sized base or 96+ in truly gigantic bases/fields. Nothing compares from other FPS really
I haven't played in 4 years. I plan on getting back into the game as a medic main and infiltrator alt. I used to roll NC and LOVED spending all my certs on Liberator upgrades. I flew my Liberator any chance I could get.
Hey, I just stumbled upon your videos. I use to play this game years ago but I can clearly remember being in this mindset and it ruined it for me. Just wanted to let you know, after watching many of your videos I've decided to give Planetside another go.
Awesome to hear! Supposing you and I are Aussie (and possibly, I, a pig too), I would suggest Briggs server for low ping but for the moment, also low population. The other option would be US West Server 'Connery'! Come say hi over @ www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/ once you have decided on where to play or if you have further questions :)
A quick question about bullet velocity: are there really no hitscan weapons? I thought the VS Lancer rocket launcher was hitscan. Or is it just so fast that it looks hitscan?
You've got it correct. It just has such a high projectile speed. But at very long ranges, you still have to lead your target about because it is a projectile.
one exception to this video. buying an SMG for infiltrators. i loved the stealth mechanic, but i hated being able to only use a sniper rifle. bought some daybreak cash and got the NS-PDW. loved it, had so much more fun, and i could also use it across all other characters. infinitely better than having to grind for enough certs to get an smg while being stuck sniping, or playing other classes i didnt have an interest in playing
counterpoint: I've just started playing and the 300 cert battle rifle for TR has made my life way funner as as infiltrator and the ripper is just fun. yes I've spent 1300 certs on weapons but it has made my gameplay way more fun
Tbh being expected not to want new weapons in an FPS is pretty bad game design all around. New weapons provide instant satisfaction and feedback, while also giving players new tools. Cert upgrades, to me, while more useful I guess, feel more like a bad RPG level up system.
*deep in thought wondering if i should get back into the game* hmm... i was a BR 30 medic working my way up to auraxium my medic and i did what you said, cause back then i had that mentality the more weapons i had the better i had to be, thus i was always low on certs...but now that im thinking about it i might get back in and start fresh...hmm...
I'm a Terran Republic player and I'm spending certs on gatling weaponry cuz gatling guns go brrrrrrr. Also I tried all the classes and I mainly focus on improvements with medic and engineer because to me, being support in the back is better than getting shot by a light assualt vanu from far away.
I started playing Planetside 2 a few days ago, and then suddenly in-game the mouse pointer wouldn't highlight anything. I combed the net for solutions and couldn't find any. Lots of mentions of use of the "Alt" key, but nothing in any of the forums helped. The game is unplayable for me. In order to click the "Play" button from the character select menu, I have to move the mouse like 3 inches or so above, and slightly to the left of it. Other buttons like the "settings" cogwheel are for some reason impossible for me to select. It's like the cursor position is not aligned with what is actually being highlighted. When I first open the game, before logging in, the cursor is aligned perfectly. Once inside the game however, it is all jumbled up. I have no idea what to do but I can't play the game.
That sucks man, its definitely some sort of resolution issue. What resolution do you play at? And have you tried using Alt+Enter to switch between windowed and full screen?
Ah it's nice to hear another planetside 2 veteran say this as we can't stress this enough to new players. What I always tell new players is go play a support class engineer or combat medic since every army relies on these guys to keep them operational for long term battles. Then I tell them to max out on advance shields so your shields will re gen faster then most players and support the idea of popping in and out of cover fast to recharge and lay down more fire, but also because that's the main role for support class as well on the battlefield.
I was trying to play support medic, but every time I enter the game servers was almost empty, only on one point and after we lost it no one left to do something else... Better do video which faction to chose to do not play almost in solo, or when is prime-time to finally run with big groups.
Playin support is a good wy to learn the game mechanics by just following around more experienced players. And you don't rely so much on your aim to be useful to your team. Abut that time: look where your server is located. Most players are active in the afternoon and evening relative to their timezone.
I took your advice, and ended up upgrading all of the Heavys armour slots (the extra missiles, decreased flack damage etc) before realising I could only equip one at a time. Doh! Luckly, a day or two ago, I was given the one time option to reset my certs. Naturally I took it and things are much better now =)
I use to play on beta and I remember buying a sniper rifle made a night/day difference, specially since the default weapon could't even kill with a head-shot sometimes or having the need to fire 3 times to get a kill on the chest was not even remotly close to get the kills with just 2 bullets with the new rifle. But yhea times changes and I do beleave what this videos is showing. One thing you didn't add to the formula is connection rate on bullets, this is more of a human skill add to the mix, an average player can have better luck with one of the pay weapons than the default one and one godlike player sure can make every weapon looks good and work properly but there is allways a weapon that give "bad players" a better chance to get the job done.
I use a blitz GD 10 for NC... AMAZING for close quarters, but anymore than 10 to maybe 15 metres... and then it has absolutely no chance, 385 bullet velocity, but 845 shots per min
My opinion is go for it. The battle rifles are a powerful platform if you know how to wield them. Double head-shot kill within max damage range, but can still reach out and touch people at distance. Pretty powerful combo imo.
Thats not very difficult. If the target stands still, its just point n click, and if the target is running, you need preaiming and a lot of experience with your weapon (Bulletdrop, Recoil, etc.)
The Warden is a mid-range gun that allows non-infiltrators to have an option for fighting beyond 40m. You're playing infiltrator- the class that gives you a huge selection of guns that are straight up better then the warden at range. If you like the warden's mid-range playstyle you should pick up a scout rifle instead, because it's practically the same thing as a warden but is able to fire two to three times faster. If you want to run with the warden you should be playing engineer, because they are able to make up for the gun's lack of ammunition.
@@BunnyHoppin- Why are you saying 'you should' and 'it is bad lile that' ? it is a play style and i think the battle rifles are a bit better at range then scout rifles (i do not have experience with it) and also the price of the Warden is about 345 certs, but the scout rifle 1000 certs... also it has less attachment options especially on the barrel. You can say your opinion and recommend things, but please dont act like a super mega pro saying the things people do are straight up bad. It is just your playstyle and his playstyle and if he likes it then why would you "complain" about it in any way?
Yep, back when I was starting you didn't get anything else than weapons. But you know, weapons were still great so it was all good. Now it's just easier to start which is good for new players to not feel like they are overmatched because of gear. (they are still overmatched in skill tho). Most important thing you need to learn is that you will die a lot in this game. You need to be acknowledge that and not feel discouraged to play just becaue you are dying.
the game should let you know before you play like when your downloading, launching after download, in the tutorial, and it can be the loading tip the first ten times
Ok ima just be honest I’m new to the game and about 2 minutes in you broke my brain but I still watched the video all the way through and i will keep coming back to your videos for tips and advice keep up the great work man
I totally agree. Some ppl that i know wanted to join me on PlanetSide 2. Once in the game, they were getting rekt and thought that it was because the basic weapon was bad. I told them to NOT buy new infantry weapon right now and cert things like the med/eng tool, nanoweave armor, etc. And for armor play, maybe the fire suppression and HEAT/AP Canon for MBT or Lightning (So they can be good in infantry AND armor fight; which mean more cert gain). They didnt listen to me and bought a new weapon anyway and STILL get rekt by others and complain that the game is BS...
I saw myself as a Mandalorian when I used the drift pack with light assault I hovered from that cliff in an Amerish Watchtower to a TR Liberator and dropped a C4 charge and finished it with the launcher my most epic moment in PS2
I think you went a little bit overboard trying to make buying weapons seem like a bad idea. It more or less is at the very beginning, but it is definitely valuable to have different weapons that are better in different situations available. Don't blow your bank on weapons at the beginning but definitely start collecting a versatile arsenal at _some_ point.
Agreed, agreed. What I run into a lot is people complaining the game is pay 2 win. They feel they MUST buy weapons to be even remotely useful, and that is all I am trying to dispel here. You should start buying weapons when you have enough currency and enough things unlocked.
4 years later, and this is all still true. I remember when I tried to introduce my friends to planeside and they complained that "the grind is too hard, how am I supposed to compete?" and I had to explain to them that they simply suck at fps and didn't know it because other games, for lack of a better phrase, baby you.
Wish someone had explained to me just how good the starting weapons are when I started off. I remember the first chance I got, I ditched my Trac-5 for the T5 AMC because I felt like I was having a hard time hitting things at what I thought was a normal engagement range, around 60m, and it was the cheapest non-starter carbine. That turned out to be pretty painful given what normal engagement distances actually are and the T5 AMC's rate of fire and damage model. I didn't switch back to the Trac-5 because I was under the impression the starter weapons were bad until I made my first 1000 cert purchase, the HC1 Cougar. It wasn't until grinding these for my Trac Shot that I really appreciated these weapons for what they are in their elements.
Absolutely. Indeed I was so surprised by how well a role the Trac-5 filled for me in mid range combat too after using the Cougar. I thought beforehand "why is TR lacking another mid range carbine" and then I remembered the Trac 5 was still there and enjoyed it since.
ShasGue After working super hard for my Trac Shot, I can tell you as well as everyone else that my Default Carbine is the HC1 Cougar. No matter what range, I almost always win my engagements with her. How? Headshots. The pure damage that evil bitch spits out lets my Light Assault go toe to toe with the toughest NC and VS BR 120 Heavies, and I do mean head to head, not flanking.
There are some serious exceptions to these rules tho, for example the starting NC lmg is not user friendly whatsoever, it has horrible recoil, long reload. For a new nc player, you would not want to use that weapon.
uh one question, can I ditch my handgun and replace is with another main weapon now? I have play this game before and love it but then quit due to time limit and work. I already brought 2 new gun a auto assault rifle and semi assault rifle with some scopes, I just wish I can carry 2 gun to fight at mid and long ranger on the go and do not have to return to Sunder to change weapon
I agree for the most part with the exception of infiltrator, the starting tr and vs snipers are semi's and the bolt action for the NC is certainly serviceable but you're gonna wanna grab the Longshot as soon as you can
So, I should just upgrade all piece of class equipment to max level before going for new weapons for my preffered class, thats what I get from the video, right?
That is the general rule of thumb, If you really wanna play with an SMG, then by all means buy one because you don't start with them. But upgrading armor and abilities will generally give you more advantages then buying new weapons.
The only time you should ever buy a new weapon is if you have Auraxiumed the starter weapon, or you have took your time and done extensive research, and know that weapon better fits your niche. Though there are weapons that are truly better and unbalanced, they are called Auraxium weapons, they are a clone of the starter weapon of that type, but are better in some aspect. For example "The Executive" is an exact clone of the Mag-shot, but it has a built in suppressor that has none of the negatives of a normal suppressor, making it much better for Infiltrator gameplay.
When I was new a random guy actually managed to convinced me the firework launcher shoots grenades that explodes into firework when hitting someone ...
I'm not nuts about a couple of the default guns. But, Gauss SAW and Orion are boss. There are no BAD default guns. I find being left handed is an advantage with NS weapons. I'm not a big fan of the carv. Trac 5 is good in cqc/mid range, but the other one you start with is better at range. NC carbine is boss. 6:47 wth happened there lol.
Here's my two cents. For the first amount of certs I got when I started my account waaaay back when I bought the ASP-30 Grounder. Yes, it is indeed a weapon. I got an insane amount of aircraft kills with that thing that I ended up climbing battle ranks relatively quick. I remember I used to be a AA turret at almost every fight. I specifically went to places where I knew there was aircraft so that I could accomplish this. Now of course it is definitely better to upgrade abilities and whatnot but the ASP-30 Isn't a terrible investment. At a 650 cert price tag its pretty cheap compared to other weapons. ESFs are also quite a big issue in PS2 right now with all the "cancer" loadouts to farm infantry, but I never had to deal with that since If I saw one I'd just switch to heavy assault and scare it off and/or shoot it out of the sky. It's understandably better to get upgrades but getting a lock-on rocket for aircraft can be really useful early on.
I started playing planetside 2 again after this video and I love it, but I'm looking for a group of some sort to play with, how can I find a group to play with?
Hey man, its great you are looking for a group, that's an important step! As Shas said, start with /r/planetside and then from the sidebar there you can find a subreddit for the specific you are on. If you happen to play on Connery as a Terran Republic soldier, you are welcome to join my outfit. You can put your app in at www.mercgg.com
tbh the starting weapons are beasts but I just didn't liked the fact that I dont have an SMG and bolt-action sniper rifles on Infiltrators (VS/TR). Other than that I still regretted buying the suppressed SMG for my VS Infil instead of just improving my Sundies
Well, too late for me :D I already bought a ton of crappy weapons I don't understand how to use efficiently, and I only spend premium currency on cosmetics (headgear and such). And tbh, I can't stop. I'm grinding Certs now for the new NS-45. Tested it in the VR Training and loved it. I'm one of those plebs using the comissioner normally. I'm rank.... 36 I think. I also don't know if I even got those max rank armor things because I played before those were given to new characters and I haven't made a new character since that has been implemented. Definitely gotta check. I think I still use some level 1 flak armor because I hate infiltrators with their bouncing betties and what not. So yeah, I spend all my certs very inefficiently. But I don't have to care much, since I absolutely suck ass at this game. I probably couldn't land a single kill with the starter weapons (which you praised to be so good to use). Anyways, this video cleared up a lot for me. Especially why so many people are creating so many new accounts.
:( Good luck getting the new weapons at least! It's a nice perk really for new accounts but in the end, everyone can still unlock stuff one way or another.
The SMG playstyle is hella fun. But it is just that a playstyle. And you can be entirely competitive without it. If you want to unlock the infil SMG playstyle, then I highly recommend buying one. But you do not need a SMG to be competitive in this game.
Depends on what you need out of a sniper rifle. Again, there is no 'best' sniper rifle but rather ones greater for what situation you think you need, range etc and well, even style. There quite a few to select from too... I strongly implore you to explore the actual article link below as it describes each of these sub types of PS2 Sniper Rifle: iridar.net/planetside2/weapons/sniper-rifles/ Semi Auto Sniper Rifles: Close Range
Yes, basically any of the bolt actions will one shot head any infantry within a certain range. This is balanced by most sniper rifles having scope sway and high natural zoom levels, so the only real sniper rifles that dont have this are the dedicated CQC ones. See how this creating different rifles for different roles? A long range one really is better for long range engagements since the velocity is much higher for tracking and scope level combined with having poor re chamber time and scope sway for close range while CQC sniper rifles will have no scope sway (since all scopes except the 6x) are low range, but has high damage fall off outside a certain range to make two - three shots required if not a head shot. Again, please read the article for detailed points, it describes everything in unison and the above comments are basically rough haha
Playin all 3 factions through full asp 100 I can tell you, that you are incorrect, older players will always have a big advantage, be it for the aim or for their weapon attachments ... So NO even as experianced player you can feel the disadvantage on a new character ... And yes, NC weapons pritty pritty poor DPS.
Can you make a video of how to make the most out of the heavy assault class? I just got back into the game, I played in the beta and during the first year of release and I used to play a lot of LA and engineer but I've been finding HA the most rewarding lately, but I find that I get my ass kicked a shit ton, so I bought the mini-chaingun and started preforming better but I still feel like my health drops damn near immediately in a fight
Yes, Shas has a good video there for you. But I will get to a video on HA play! I've got a lot of ideas in the pipeline, so not sure when, but I will get one out on the classes.
Wasted like 2k+ certs on bad weapons.. Only to realize theyre shit and the stock gun is way better :p , going to spend some certs on my class now. I big made a noob mistake. Thank you for the video.
I'd say that buying a bolt action is worth it as TR or Vanu (after maxing armor and camo) if you want to snipe, because the starter sniper is not good at long distance sniping. Then again I wouldn't recommend infiltrator as a starter class anyway
It is true, having a one head shot kill sniper rifle is a nice upgrade from the TR and VS starter weapons. The starting one is a different play style, but still terrific.
Yeah, at the very least, use a spare character slot if you don't want to delete your original first. But make the call once you realise which way is more useful for you.
Planetside 2 vanu logic.
Has alien technology
Doesn't have rechargeable batteries
V-4
Got any batteries?
Nihax Gamer betelgeuse, eclipse, darkstar...
or do they? ;)
Don't forget the phaseshift...which isn't even an auraxium directive.
Hehe. True BUT! The directive weapons now, rechargeable batteries!
Don't get weapons with certs, get certs with weapons.
Das it mang. #MyDefaultISACertPrintingMachine
Yep yep
In Soviet Russia, certs earn you
still Dakka from pumps and the watcan which makes me scream DAKKA
Deep.
Now you should do a video on what you SHOULD buy.
Agreed.
saddlepiggy | The Purple Pig for vs= Pulcar C cause igorawr... nc= 4 carabines + standart carabine to auraxium to get the reward carabine tr= u got all the dakkas u need!!!dakka!
Will put it on my to-do list.
cool ill definitely watch it :)
If you are TR or VS you need to get a bolt action Sniper rifle, only NC starts with one
If you want to use the flash, it comes with no gun, get anything except the basilisk
If you want to use the Galaxy (don't) all it's guns need to be replaced
If you want to use the liberator you should get the rear gun replaced
You should buy an SMG to use with infiltrator
By the way, the best way to rack up certs is to be a medic. Sure, you might complain that you're always in the back, but you're a practically demigod of life energy when you're upgraded so it sorta balances out.
The medic is terrific, and the Assault Rifles in this game, which only medics can use, are kick ass.
Cyrious Gaming - Yeah. Assault rifles are amazing multi purpose guns.
There should be people to play support, no ?
George Kifiani - I mainly play as a medic.
But if your just starting the game you don't have a preferred sniper rifle.
antwan1357 Unless you've never played a shooter before you have an idea of what you want your sniper to do though if you just want some spammability then yes the semi-auto is fine if you want the one shots though you need to have the bolt action
I still honestly wish that everyone had a starter SMG as well. You don’t NEED it, but it’s a significantly strong playstyle for those interested in infiltrator.
Your Videos should be linked to every new Player.
That's where everyone can pitch in! See a new player finding difficulty with an issue that Cyrious has covered or that you think will benefit from his advice? Get them to see even just one video, and you have helped that player and the game have a chance at being experienced.
agreed
Hey thanks very much. Hopefully it does reach those who need help or are concerned the game is pay to win.
NOO Just get Patty to Yell.
Cyrious Gaming it did. I was about to buy a new shotgun for my vanu light assault but you changed my mind
I well I have to restart...again
Cheers for joining us again on Auraxis. There is always help waiting, you just need to make yourself known :)
ShasGue I know thanks
Gah, sorry I didn't get this video out sooner, I really wanted to follow up my first video quick with this. Work ya know? To be honest you will be fine, you will make more certs and get what you need. Just want to get it out there that you don't need to buy weapons to be good.
Lmao I've restarted at least 20 times since getting the game...lol
When I first started playing, I thought the starting Vanu LMG, the Orion, was the worst gun ever. It was only after wasting certs on new LMGs that I realized how good the Orion really was. But with that said, I think players should go ahead and buy that new gun if they feel the game is getting stale.
Of course if you don't like the type of default gun given, go try out others in the VR and look em up. Trial them even if you can and have fun as the end goal! But don't get lost in chasing guns thinking they are the end content, they are additional tools for how to have fun shooting (if that makes sense)?
This statement is very true:
But with that said, I think players should go ahead and buy that new gun if they feel the game is getting stale.
Hopefully people get that, buy something if you want to shake it up a bit. But don't feel like you must buy to be compeitive.
I have around 10 characters and more hours played than I'd like to admit... What I'd recommend to buy to a new player:
1.- Level 1 Ammo Dispenser for Sunderer. (50 certs)
Gives you easy certs and something to do when you are moving with the zerg between bases. Even better, try to gun for others on every vehicle you see.
2.- Just one M12 Kobalt for Sunderer. (200 certs)
This is a steal. The best anti-infantry option by far after the Fury nerf. The trick is to do fast clicks instead of firing in auto. Switch seats to use it if you are driving alone. Maybe they'll nerf it. People cry... :)
3.- A secondary weapon for your mbt (big tank of your faction). E540 Halberd (875 certs) or maybe Saron if you are Vanu.
People will want to gun for you and your tank will be twice as effective. Big cert maker.
4.- NS-44L Blackhand revolver (1000 certs)
Many won't agree on this one for a newbie, but stay with me. Just buy it and equip it on every class, specially on Stalker Infiltrator. Have fun double-clicking heads.
5.- Vets will hate me for this, but spend into your MAX. Consider it as your training wheels. Will make your certs back and more...
Other things:
● If you are Vanu or TR and really want to play sniper, buy a bolt action sniper.
Would not agree on launchers, Swarm has a lot of potential to farm certs as soon as you learn to use it properly.
BR 12 with trac 5 is fucking op
True, but nothing compares to the BR 5 NC bolt action sniper >:I
Good mentions guys, but what about the BR 10 with a Jackhammer :D
You guys and your guns. This is a 1st Person Knife game with guns....
Hehe so true.
DRAX GAMING B-but.. HC1 Cougar :'(
That's so unfair.
@@josephstalinsdaughter6499 same, but that is just poor luck as being the one they saw first
@@athingwhichexists and positioning, try to have a friendly meatbag in front and behind you at all times
Hey man, I recently started this game and did what you said not to do in this vid but this would really help other new players who have watched this vid before they start. Great helpful vid bro 👍
If you're not too progressed into your character, save yourself some time with unlocking and redo your character :)
Consider it this way, do you have a lot of stuff already unlocked? If so, don't worrt about it, if you're hovering around BR20-30, make a new character and if you're less than Battle Rank 20, 100% make a new character and start over because you are missing out on a lot of free exp via unlocked aspects.
Also remember, max nano weave is only on Heavy Assault. Medic gets a nano-regen faster recharge suit slot, Light Assault gets Advanced Shield Capacitor maxed out, Engineer gets Flak armour maxed and Infiltrator gets a non-shimmer Suit Slot ability (so when you are shot, you don't 'spark up')
Thanks very much man! Yeah pass it along to any other new players that may need the advice!
Yes, listen to this guy, all great tips.
After that, BUY PHOENIX!!!!!! (I cannot stress how much better than shrike it is)
When i was new i did the smart thing! Grate right?
then why is it that 90% of the time i start shooting someone first and they turn around and just destroy me? i have all starter weapons and abilities
Headshots maybe
I think some weapons are OK to buy early, like the SAS-R which costs 650 and enables you to play in a completely different way than with a starting sniper.
I think one of the few exceptions to this rule is if you want to main a different class of weapon. The best example i can think of is buying the Archer as an engineer. While the base weapons are great you aren't going to do much to max's and nothing to vehicles with them. As an engineer (depending on play style) you can often find yourself around or in a cluster of vehicles, both friendly and hostile repairing and what not. It's nice to be able to damage them and pick off infantry in the distance.
7:50 "bullets will drop" looks at the VS I beg to differ (at least with standard guns).
Hey thanks much for watching man, glad it helped.

MOAR DAKKA!
Khaled Elh I honestly see no problem xD
it´s the most fun gun in this game
2nd Most fun, you're forgetting Phoenix on NC, that thing feels epic to snipe snipers/tanks/maxes/weakened soldiers with from behind cliffs
Very good points!
It's true, will say though that other weapons will try to specialise far more in a specific role so keep that in mind
This might be the best gun-science video I've ever seen. You don't get unnecessarily specific and you shed all the light that needs to be shed on the general picture.
Thanks man!
Ever think of doing a video on what specific scenarios each gun is best at?
people never mention that by sticking with the same weapon you receive a lot of certs for getting the auraxium for the weapon. you get 200 certs with 1159 kills plus you get certs along the journey to that total.
Yep nice bump.
Good man! Its true, you can get more certs NP, so not that big a deal if you get a weapon.
so as a Terran Republic, I shouldn't buy a bolt action sniper because? cause as far as I know, bol action can ohk. semi-auto, can't.
If you want a OHK bolt action you should by one. Just saying you don't need to buy it to have other competitive play styles.
While it is true for most of the weapons available, there are exceptions. The Archer is quite unique and a good gun to have. Battle rifles are not available by default and there is no default gun that can fill their niche. On the other hand, I cannot remember if I had to buy a shotgun or if it came by default but if I had to, I'd rather have my certs.
but how are you going to get auraxium weapons if you dont buy weapons to complete those directives
Auraxiuming weapons is a more advanced thing, this is directed at new players.
But you said that you should only purchase a new weapon after auraxing one, but you cant auraxium a weapon til you buy more to complete the directive that auraxium the weapon. Sorry if im being a pain for you but im just a bit confused
Except for infiltrator vs and tr.
If you can't lead your target's very well at long range's then you should probably use the bolt action sniper's.
It truly goes to compliment the asymmetrical balance you can still achieve in having different weapons achieve the same goal (killing opponents).
why have your comments been marked as spam?
True, they don't get a single shot sniper. But they get a rapid re-fire semiautomatic rifle that has no scope sway. It's a pretty damn awesome weapon, even though you don't get the single shot kills.
true, im using mine to upgrade my stuff instead so i can be more use to the term, like the turret and mines and stuff
Great video, I would like to add that you are right but not all classes start with the proffecient weapon, the sniper class starts with a crappy bolt action sniper, almost every sniper is better, the medic and assault and engineer start with sub par carbine, also not the best, shotguns are locked and have to be purchased, if you start with a heavy then your fine with the base saw, it depends on your main class,
So true. I was trying to find a replacement for my Trac 5. Picked the Jaguar, and found it horrible at mid to long range.
Yes they have done a good job helping out new players.
Right on!
Glad you stumbled in! Thanks for watching.
Aussie Swine how'd it go
I started playing july 2018, but haven't been really getting into it until now.
Cyrious Gaming Huh, you learn something new every day.
one exception to this video. buying an SMG for infiltrators. i loved the stealth mechanic, but i hated being able to only use a sniper rifle. bought some daybreak cash and got the NS-PDW. loved it, had so much more fun, and i could also use it across all other characters. infinitely better than having to grind for enough certs to get an smg while being stuck sniping, or playing other classes i didnt have an interest in playing
Yes if you want the SMG playstyle, buying the NS-PDW is the way to go.
counterpoint: I've just started playing and the 300 cert battle rifle for TR has made my life way funner as as infiltrator and the ripper is just fun. yes I've spent 1300 certs on weapons but it has made my gameplay way more fun
Whispers: Do it.
@@CMDRCyrious I think I have it on 4k res. I'll try the alt+enter thing and see
It turns out it was a dpi scale thing in the application settings. I can play now
Ah it's nice to hear another planetside 2 veteran say this as we can't stress this enough to new players.
Thats right man!
Most players are active in the afternoon and evening relative to their timezone.
theDemolisher13 id tell em to max out the med gun or the repair gun its very usefulnwhen shit stsrt halpening
I took your advice, and ended up upgrading all of the Heavys armour slots (the extra missiles, decreased flack damage etc) before realising I could only equip one at a time. Doh!
Luckly, a day or two ago, I was given the one time option to reset my certs. Naturally I took it and things are much better now =)
Haha sorry I didn't mention you should only start maxing out one! Glad you were able to refund.
Hi Cyrious, I'm BR 23 and successfully playing NC Infiltrator with a battle rifle, though everybody told me, not to do it. Whats your opinion?
My opinion is go for it. The battle rifles are a powerful platform if you know how to wield them. Double head-shot kill within max damage range, but can still reach out and touch people at distance. Pretty powerful combo imo.
Cyrious Gaming How tf do you get two headshots in a row?
You need to be acknowledge that and not feel discouraged to play just becaue you are dying.
the game should let you know before you play
like when your downloading, launching after download, in the tutorial, and it can be the loading tip the first ten times
Would be a good starter tip.
Yeah, that happens.
I saw myself as a Mandalorian when I used the drift pack with light assault I hovered from that cliff in an Amerish Watchtower to a TR Liberator and dropped a C4 charge and finished it with the launcher my most epic moment in PS2
Yo so I'm an auraxium Hunter and I gotta know, what was your method for getting the gallows? How did you claim all those bounties.
Hey there man. While its not a perfect guide, I talk on it a little bit in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Yt4EJY22M2M/v-deo.html
I have so many guns 💪🏻 on my TR I kinda get stuck at the terminal...
What's the background music? Something from rameses b?
That NC medic first weapon is just the best, can't play anything else, i tried the GD, NS-11-A
4 years later, and this is all still true.
ShasGue i love the cougar...
Love me some Cougar but once I had it auraxiumed I didn't know where to go next for a while ;-;
ShasGue After working super hard for my Trac Shot, I can tell you as well as everyone else that my Default Carbine is the HC1 Cougar. No matter what range, I almost always win my engagements with her. How? Headshots. The pure damage that evil bitch spits out lets my Light Assault go toe to toe with the toughest NC and VS BR 120 Heavies, and I do mean head to head, not flanking.
So many people are in the same shoes as you, looking for the next weapon. But those starter weapons are really great.
There are some serious exceptions to these rules tho, for example the starting NC lmg is not user friendly whatsoever, it has horrible recoil, long reload. For a new nc player, you would not want to use that weapon.
Best lmg in the game, though. I liked it immediately, but I like heavy, slow, and strong weapons over faster, weaker weapons.
"Haha gravity doesn't effect me" -said in purple spandex
uh one question, can I ditch my handgun and replace is with another main weapon now? I have play this game before and love it but then quit due to time limit and work. I already brought 2 new gun a auto assault rifle and semi assault rifle with some scopes, I just wish I can carry 2 gun to fight at mid and long ranger on the go and do not have to return to Sunder to change weapon
They have added a long rang pistol, that can help with versatility. But no, you cannot carry two primary weapons.
Good vid man!
Thx for taking care of new recruits!
Of course man! Thanks
I agree for the most part with the exception of infiltrator, the starting tr and vs snipers are semi's and the bolt action for the NC is certainly serviceable but you're gonna wanna grab the Longshot as soon as you can
dude, got back into the game because of ur videos. They should be paying you!
Haha thanks a ton man.
Great tips man.
When I was new a random guy actually managed to convinced me the firework launcher shoots grenades that explodes into firework when hitting someone ...
+Minh Trung Le lol😀
I'm not nuts about a couple of the default guns. But, Gauss SAW and Orion are boss. There are no BAD default guns. I find being left handed is an advantage with NS weapons.
I'm not a big fan of the carv. Trac 5 is good in cqc/mid range, but the other one you start with is better at range. NC carbine is boss.
6:47 wth happened there lol.
Dude was hiding the corner, gotta check your corners!
Cyrious Gaming
I more meant he had you cold lol, or should of.
Sorry for the question. How get the red dot sight?
I have the laser sight. But that red dot doesn't appear to me
Search for Cyrious Recursion Tutorial, explains it.
The grounder is a really terrific investment.
and now AA rocket launchers are default :)
Would absolutely love to join your outfit, but i play on EU servers :/
If u do plan to buy anything with certs or real money go to the VR map and test them out 1st.
Yes 100% go look at them if you can apply testing to them in the VR room like weapons and things like flank armour :)
Yep great tip.
tbh the starting weapons are beasts but I just didn't liked the fact that I dont have an SMG and bolt-action sniper rifles on Infiltrators (VS/TR). Other than that I still regretted buying the suppressed SMG for my VS Infil instead of just improving my Sundies
Its true having a SMG is nice, and having a single shot kill bolt action is nice. But you can do just fine without is all I'm trying to point out.
Except TR/VS start with semi-auto snipers, which are trash compared to bolt, and MAX's start off literally unusable.
For the love of all things holy buy weapons with certs if you are new to Planetside! More money = more development.
Love love love the Orion! Been using that weapon for all these years.
Orion is terrific.
Cyrious Gaming I stared playing this today on ps4 , vs BR 8 and 856 Certs. Orion is the best lmg.
As an infiltrator i bought a bolt action parallax sniper for my character since I wanted long range 1 taps and I bought the emissary as well
Just buy the Reaper DMR and you are set for life.
Great weapon.
The only guns I buy are the m77-B (long range bolt action sniper rifle) and the tsar-42 (close range bolt action sniper rifle). I am a cloaker TR main
I mostly spent my certs on gear
how do you get the double kill notification?
like in 5:57
Setup Recursion Stat tracker, a video on it is here: ua-cam.com/video/8XImO6ul1gg/v-deo.html
Cyrious Gaming oh, didn’t notice that one.
Thanks
I'm 105 and still rarely buy guns lol.
1:11 Isn't there a one time cert refund for BR 15 and under?
Yes that is true. At the time it bugged a lot, but now you will get the screen.
Hands down though the only op weapon imho is the commisioner, if you can pop heads its much much better than any default pistol.
Commissioner is pretty OP.
Especially if you aren't TR (repeater)
That changed with the Pilot now.
Glad I watched your videos before playing for the first time yesterday. With my KDR sitting around 0.1, certs are hard to come by so this was helpful.
Glad I could help!
Well, too late for me :D
I already bought a ton of crappy weapons I don't understand how to use efficiently, and I only spend premium currency on cosmetics (headgear and such).
You will make up all those certs in no time, and eventually you will be glad you bought those weapons. Keep on grinding!
What about buying an smg for infiltrator?
The SMG playstyle is hella fun. But it is just that a playstyle. And you can be entirely competitive without it. If you want to unlock the infil SMG playstyle, then I highly recommend buying one. But you do not need a SMG to be competitive in this game.
ok thanks!
I fucking love this game but it is so difficult to play with my shitty PC if it wasn't for that I would do better in large battles
Ahh yeah its tough if your rig is old.
so whats the best sniper someone can get as soon as possible ?
Depends on what you need out of a sniper rifle. Again, there is no 'best' sniper rifle but rather ones greater for what situation you think you need, range etc and well, even style.
There quite a few to select from too... I strongly implore you to explore the actual article link below as it describes each of these sub types of PS2 Sniper Rifle:
iridar.net/planetside2/weapons/sniper-rifles/
Semi Auto Sniper Rifles:
Close Range
is there a sniper that can one shot infantry?
If you are TR, the RAMS .50 is your best bet for a sniper rifle, it is 1-headshot kill.
luckily i am TR but are there any other snipers that can one shot to the chest or is that impossible ?
Thanks for watching!
I made this very mistake 2 days ago, big mistake :(
If you just started within the past couple days I implore you to just start again :D It will be quicker too since you are wiser now too
I never thought of simply starting again i think il do that thanks
Yeah, at the very least, use a spare character slot if you don't want to delete your original first. But make the call once you realise which way is more useful for you.
I actually really like my SABR-13 with a nice DMO or HDS sight on threre for my medic as opposed to something a bit more up close and personal.
The SABR is a terrific weapon.
Absolutely. It was one of the first plunges I took since it was a farcry different than a lot of what is offered for the TR medics.
Haha, I once got reported from a sniper because I HS him from 175 meters with the Trac :D
Nice:)
But what if your buying the weapon with certs because you are already comfortable with it like how im comfortable with the gladius
Then buy away! Just don't want people feeling like they need armor.
