The reason I whip out my med tool immediately is, that I simply suck at fighting in this game. When I suicide revive one guy he probably gets more shit done than I do in ten lives. Only semi-"flaw" I see is, you usually do not have 25 seconds to revive people not in your squad/platoon. They respawn as quickly as they can. So this only works for squad play.

That clip of MERC flanking brought a tear to my eye, love watch highly experienced players play a mean game of planetside, glad to have you and be with you on Connery o7
Cyrious Gaming voidwaitress vs and orangevoid i was in merc ops last ops I waited forever for it but only decided to actually do it because Zeprin/Big Grump spoke highly of merc and because they gave LOTC a hard time their ops 2 saturdays ago
I learn a lot from your videos on strategy I could take a point from not instinctively running to grab the one guy in a building getting shit on. Or jumping on point
My favorite playstyle, unfortunately it's kinda hard to play it as a solo player, I've been trying for a while to make my medic "equal" to my heavy assault (2.80 k/d vs 4.2 k/d), but that shield seriously give you an edge, at least people are really grateful when you revive and heal them which is great on itself. One day I will get you carapace! you will have to drop one day >:c
Adrenaline/Assimilate is a pretty powerful combo for sure. Just can't be quite as aggressive with the combat medic, gotta keep a little bit more distance.
CG is doing great works for PS2's community and potential players and Wrel's fighting from the inside to help the game but sadly that does mean he can't produce videos as he did in the past ;-;
indeed - I really miss Wrel's content. It was so deep and insightful, pleasant to watch and he has a pleasant voice. So this channel and a few others have been a nice fill for me.
I love playing medic and I have to say I'm guilty of being a death skull chaser :/ but I'm also still new to the game. Thanks to your videos I'm getting better you have good tactics and aim 👌
I see what you did here, make a video making the combat medic sounds amazing so more people play as medic, jk combat medic is my second favourite class behind heavy assault ;3
Sorry for commenting on an old video, Cyrious, and you may have heard this before, but I’d argue that Carapace is much more effective than you give it credit for in this video. Let’s say you are being shot and have a constant damage per second applied to you, and you have your Nano-regen device enabled for the duration of your pain. If you do not have carapace, you will only start getting the effective damage mitigation by way of health regen once your shields drop. If you have carapace, you get that mitigation through your entire health pool, effectively doubling the amount of damage mitigation. This also applies to other regen effects like other nano-regen medics, resto kits, and even healing grenades. Of course, stack this with combat surgeon, and you have a nearly immortal medic when surrounded by teammates that can possibly even out-heal someone consistently bodyshotting you. So yes, while running carapace does ask a different playstyle of the user, I’d argue it has the potential to be much more powerful than a standard shielded medic.
Don't be sorry, and honestly... I agree. As a content creator I can't really go out and say you have to lottery 100s of dollars in this game to get a better implant... Everyone that watches would just leave. But overall I agree, carapace medic is just a straight up upgrade.
Commander Cyrious Oh yeah 😅 You’re like the first person people think of when they think of PlanetSide 2 on UA-cam, so I definitely understand not wanting to turn players away. Yeah, I really think it’s time we get another way to obtain exceptionals. Hopefully one of these vendors inside the sanctuary will maybe sell exceptionals for a high amount of the new currency? Being able to work towards a goal even if it’s long is much more preferable to a random chance...
You know when I first played downstairs 2 it was pretty boring and I always got killed andI just simply uninstalled the game. But when I found and watched your beginners guide video just randomly on youtube, I gave downstairs 2 another go and im having blast now. Thank you for making that video man :).
This is one of the main reasons why I like to run the Eidolon on a CM. Pick-offs are easier when your main force is out-ranged, and the Eidolon can directly counter that.
thanks for the tips on loadout, ive been jumping around the classes even tho i know medic/infil is wat i started on back in beta but hav felt i could never really get things done not i c that i was doing some things wrong
Coward NEVER LEAVE A MAN BEHIND DAMIT!!! Lmao JK great video man it has helped a lot. I've played ps2 off and on on ps4 then recently moved to PC when I built my new rig and realized that there is so much shit I don't know about this game so right now I'm just main medic and learn as I go..these videos are very helpful man thanks and keep them coming! Love the game
Looking back on this video I like to run things that make me harder to kill and a Shotgun because of the pesky C4 Faries, that and it helps me get the revives off easier, since I know I'll have a bit of a buffer to get into cover, since when I'm a medic and a teammate goes down... "I will find you, and I will heal you.", since there are three things in life you can't avoid, Death, Taxes and Stubborn Medics.
We all do. :) And sometimes its worth it suicideing to get that bad ass heavy assault up. But, just like to point out to people that medics are pretty badass of their own right.
Seeing my LOTC squad-mates fall to this made me a little teary-eyed at the end there. Regardless, great video and even better tips. :) Still try to tell people to kill then revive. No I have a vid to show them why it matters. :P
It was pretty hard to get auraxium the medic because medics are so rare on NC and VS on Miller. Took me so long. And when I finally found one I just got an assist on him cause every other TR medic was trying to kill him
Is that Eve music playing in the background? Also, Medic is the best class in the game to me! Requires more thought than a HA, and most ARs are balanced well unlike other weapon types IMHO.
Pretty awesome, detailed, and informative video! If we do not have the implants specified, what are some worthwhile alternatives that would help in the instances for each class?
I honestly hate playing medic, and only actively do it when there's an event going, but I am always glad for the people that DO play medic, and I always thank the player when they revive my blatantly suicidal ass(I tend to be that guy that ambushers into a room to kill the engie that's watching the doors with a turret... Or I'll just charge in with my MAX screaming WAAAGH into proximity.).
I run Survivalist+Athlete with a Grenade bandolier & usually run vanu's nasty battle rifle. I try to cover my team/allies rear & pop a revive grenade when possible. Love hail Mary revival grenades lol
Hey man, thanx for the great vid. Gives me a clear idea on the functioning of a combat medic. Out of curiousity: will you make an advanced guide on the heavy assault class? I know there are vids out there which provide some info on that. But your vids go into decent detail explainiing the classes with gameplay and commentary. Thanx bro.
Ive fallen in love with infiltraiter even more since implant on ps4.... I can go full on predator AVP mode because of the thermal vision implant and stalker plus deap operative
I run the same loadout as your Flak with Regen field. The only change is I tend to use a shotgun with that loadout. Like you said, crammed in those tiny point rooms; a shotgun really does shine the the chaos.
Disclaimer - Sarcastic comment. You did not represent my preferred loadout. The regeneration field + the shield capacitor (utility) can give you overall much more effective hp while taking fire. Only downside is the anchoring you need to do while moving. And you have your implant slots free for Assimilate and Regeneration.
Can someone help me? I've been playing for quite a while now but I still haven't figured out How to get Aurexium on a gun. What do you have to do? Can someone pls help?
You need to get 1160 kills on any weapon to Auraxium it. In your loadout screen, when you select the weapon there is a tab that tells you how many kills you have.
I loved that guid since you said "Comab medic". I like to play this class a lot becouse of weapons, mostly they go toe to toe with best CQC Lmg's like MSW-R, Anchovies. But there is one priceless thing with playing Combat medic, ppl who pm you only to say that you are a shitty medic only becouse you didin't revive them :D
Mention that if you see a dead person and you're near them, and not busy. Fucking revive them. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to respawn with a medic practically teabagging me.
Great content! But i haven't got a carapace because of the bad luck and wonder which implant should i take in this situation. And is it worthy to upgrade the Combat surgeon implant to LEVEL5?
Yes, actually. I can't say I have used it much myself, but regen grenades play really well in full carapace squads. Where your heavies are running carapace with resist shield as well. Get massive AE healing when everyone is running carapace.
I play every faction and in general I feel like TR has the worst weapons in most areas but I have to say I love nearly all Assault Rifles of the TR. They have a great fire power and are pretty accurate not like the TR carbines which mostly aren't that accurate. I love playing medic in general as it's a real badass class plus it can be a game changer when it comes down to capture a facility (sadly most people take medics for granted and are not grateful at all, even more they blame the medic when they run out like maniacs and die with no chance of getting rivived -.-) but with the TR medic I think it's the most fun because of the amazing weapons it has.
I really love playing combat medic, although I prefer triage pulse above all else, it feels a little more engaging for me as it gives me that extra hit that I can take before I go down, so i can be a little more aggressive even as a medic. :D
Excellent video, as per usual. A suggestion: Now that you have a new graphics card and can handle a little bit more, why not increase your FOV? I feel like it directly corresponds with a players, situational awareness, as it basically enables you to see more of what's going on. On top of that, you are presenting gameplay of yours to an audience, so making the game look good is obviously a high priority for you (I greatly appreciate the fact that you DON'T play on full potato), and a larger FOV is certainly one of the most important settings towards the game's visual appeal. Keep up the good work!
Hey there. Yes, I am working on finding the right balance of settings. The problem with increasing your field of view, is that it makes it harder to hit headshots. The more you zoom out, the less pixels dedicated to each enemy head, less of a chance you will hit those heads. Keep your FOV in and those heads have a lot of room for you to aim on. So, yes a larger FOV would look nice, but I don't want to handicap myself. I wish I could make it better, unfortunately so many of the settings are all CPU driven. So my new GPU allows to me record at higher resolutions, unfortunately I am still handicapped by my CPU on a lot of the settings. Anyways, I will keep tweaking and hopefullly will land on better and better settings. Do note that a lot of the footage for the medic video was shot before I got the 1080ti. I still have a lot of footage to work through before I switch over to 4K. But anyways, thanks for the tips and encouragement and I will keep it up!
Man, we need more Medics that understand this stuff on Connery VS. Most of the ones we get are Medtool primaries that don't bother to clear the area and just go fishing for Revive certs even when there's three hostile Heavies in shotgun range. Thing is, I've noticed that, while my first response to an enemy Medic with his Medtool out, trying to revive someone, is to try and empty my Pulsar-C into his face, a lot of other players tend to leave them be and let them get the revive, then blast the person who got revived for an instant kill, and only then shoot the medic. The amount of Medics that don't understand this on VS is... large.
Have you ever tried the crossbow with smoke arrows +primary Shotgun? Its awesome. Especially if you can smoke a dead friendly and Rev manualy or with a Grenade even under fire.
I originaly wanted the crossbow as Long range weapon Option for my Shotgun primary. Hard af to Hit anything. Got only 3 Kills. One involving Shooting a VS heavy Assault in the butt...
Hi. Thank you for the tutorial. I’m a long time RTS(BW, SC2) player and if there’s a reason I’ve been playing this FPS(if any FPS) recently is because of how comprehensive this game is about many facts. I don’t feel intimidated by the skill gap, but I feel rather encouraged. The combat medic is my fave class and I’ve built my character around high mobility and fast reviving. Like I go in take care of the dude, revive 4-6 people in 3 secs and get my gun back to head shot some curious mf who showed up as well. Lol.
Great guide, though I feel you're understating the advantages of the carapace/combat surgeon combos. Just in the video alone, I can count near double digit instances where you would die without the advantages of that combo, especially in the point hold at the end. This combo is basically ASC on steroids, while not having to run ASC at all, being able to go with nanoweave. With the only disadvantage being that max effectiveness lasts only as long as you have restoration kits, and chip damage being annoying. But, 4 resto kits are enough to get you through a point push, easily. A regular, new player without this combo is not gonna be a medium assault, not nearly as effective. Running around susceptible to EMPs, half health, slowly rechargable shields and no way to quickly recharge the nano-regen device are big disadvantages in my opinion. Not to mention the 20% damage resistance for small arms on revives during point holds and regular combat..
People really, really, really overvalue Carapace. I agree, the EMP immunity is big. But unless you have a whole squad running Carapace, you are not gaining a massive advantage over anyone. Once you run out of the 4 medkits, you are straight up worse off then having a shield. Its a powerful combo for sure, but I would not call it overpowered.
Thanks for the reply. What would be a good combo without carapace? The thing is hard to get. The classic HA setup, assimilate + battle-hardened? Speaking as the frontline, second row (staying behind HA spearheads) combat medic.
I would probably go combat surgeon and Battle hardened if you were going without Carapace. Combat surgeon just has so many perks, especially if its max rank.
I usually run resnades with grenade bandolier. When I see a friendly go down where I can't save them, I throw a resnade, and hope for the best. Sometimes when you get a body where the enemy thinks they've cleared, it's a great way for you to assist the flanks. Worst case scenario, I lose a grenade and 75 nanites. Best case scenario, I make someone's day. As to medics who are tunnel visioned on those revives, if I see a medic run to res me while the area is still hot, I always yell in proxy chat, "Medics, your first priority is to stay alive!"
No, medic loadouts are pretty much the same as you see here no big changes. Do note my flak armor with response jacket is a bit redundant, so maybe switch either the implant or the armor around on that one. But otherwise this is still what I use. Engineer and Light Assault have changed up a bit since though.

Glad you liked it! I am not sure if you are speaking about the sabr or which one. All I can say every burst variant I have used has been kick-ass.
I think it is the Sabre. It's been a couple months since i've played PS2.
That clip of MERC flanking brought a tear to my eye, love watch highly experienced players play a mean game of planetside, glad to have you and be with you on Connery o7
What's your in-game name on Connery?
Cyrious Gaming voidwaitress vs and orangevoid i was in merc ops last ops I waited forever for it but only decided to actually do it because Zeprin/Big Grump spoke highly of merc and because they gave LOTC a hard time their ops 2 saturdays ago
Oh great man, glad you joined up!
I primarily run combat medic. It's fun and rewarding. I also love blowing up tanks as a medic with the c4
.> ..must revive all .. yolo 60 yards into battle to rez random person... must do it...
CHARGE! :) Hey we need heroes like you out there.
Keeping it real
Nothing like running through a field dodging bullets and explosions to get your buddy on his feet. Smart? No. Fun? Hell yes.
You are right on the end. Hardly anybody says thx when they get healed/revived.
I learn a lot from your videos on strategy
I could take a point from not instinctively running to grab the one guy in a building getting shit on.
Really great content. Thanks for filling in the void since Wrel doesn't do much vids anymore.
Hey thanks very much man! More on the way.
CG is doing great works for PS2's community and potential players and Wrel's fighting from the inside to help the game but sadly that does mean he can't produce videos as he did in the past ;-;
indeed - I really miss Wrel's content.
Ummm. You are totally correct. I want more revives. :)
Am I the only one that likes medic bc it feels like you carry a team to victory via infantry taking points
I meant to say planetside 2 not downstairs 2 XD
Haha you are welcome man.
Welcome back to Downstairs 2! :p
:) XD
Also great video about COMBAT medic :).
Coward
NEVER LEAVE A MAN BEHIND DAMIT!!!
Love the game
can you continue this series? thanks for providing us with all these new ideas and great guides.
Yes I will! I have already completed the infiltrator version. But will be doing the other classes soon.
for me as a medic main i can say the best weapos are sarbr-13 and nc NC1 GAUSS RIFLE
that GD-22 though ;P
The Gauss Rifle is a beast to be sure
Good vid Patty, I think you managed to beat Telonious to the punch for the medic basics!
Didn't realize Telonius was working on Medic, thought he was just doing HA, but awesome! Will be good to see his as well!
Looking back on this video I like to run things that make me harder to kill and a Shotgun because of the pesky C4 Faries, that and it helps me get the revives off easier, since I know I'll have a bit of a buffer to get into cover, since when I'm a medic and a teammate goes down...
"I will find you, and I will heal you.", since there are three things in life you can't avoid, Death, Taxes and Stubborn Medics.
and he dies by someone in YLBT, sounds about right
Hehe a true Connery player.
Sounds like [PHX] from Emerald NC meme. If you got TK'd, it was probably one of them. :p
love you videos, all ways a good watch
Thanks man!
Cyrious Gaming and i just realised that i fucked up the word your
Damn good vid, keep it up!
Ya made me go and redownload the game! Time to see if I can actually not be a noob.
Right on!
Good luck!

Thank you for this! Combat Medic is my jam!
(I tunnel vision too much when it comes to revives heh heh)
We all do. :) And sometimes its worth it suicideing to get that bad ass heavy assault up. But, just like to point out to people that medics are pretty badass of their own right.
The Carapace is a change of pace. I see what you did there.
;)
Good stuff as usual dude!
Thanks!
Seeing my LOTC squad-mates fall to this made me a little teary-eyed at the end there. Regardless, great video and even better tips. :) Still try to tell people to kill then revive. No I have a vid to show them why it matters. :P
Hehe always good to see LOTC out there, fun to fight against!
Thanks Medic! :)
Good vid mate
Thanks man!
You are right on, it is Eve music.
Woah...
Where in the world has this video been all my life...
Oh well I’m never leaving combat medic...
Only just now spotted you killing me in the intro there.
:) Connery folks get to be famous.
The medic tool tip works for other games with similar revive systems too.
Actually got me interested in learning the class now.
Right on.
I run Survivalist+Athlete with a Grenade bandolier & usually run vanu's nasty battle rifle. I try to cover my team/allies rear & pop a revive grenade when possible. Love hail Mary revival grenades lol
medic is my fav fragging class, even the best medics cant keep up other ppls kdR
Can't wait to see more medics!
Yeah, sort of a psychology experiment as well. See if we can get more people out there reviving. :)
Thx for this guide, just that the implant aren't that easy to get but at least now I know the way I should play it.
You're welcome!
I'm new to the game so sorry for not knowing but how do you get those implants?
great combat medic for the TR :D
Hey man, thanx for the great vid. Gives me a clear idea on the functioning of a combat medic. Out of curiousity: will you make an advanced guide on the heavy assault class? I know there are vids out there which provide some info on that. But your vids go into decent detail explainiing the classes with gameplay and commentary. Thanx bro.
I will be doing a Heavy Assault video! Not sure when, but I have most of the footage already.
Awesome!
A video about a game I enjoy using music from another game I enjoy while I play that game.
It hardly gets better than this.
:) Two of my favorites as well.
Ive fallen in love with infiltraiter even more since implant on ps4....
I can go full on predator AVP mode because of the thermal vision implant and stalker plus deap operative
Nice man :)
I run the same loadout as your Flak with Regen field. The only change is I tend to use a shotgun with that loadout. Like you said, crammed in those tiny point rooms; a shotgun really does shine the the chaos.
Yep, those triple stacks sure blow. Shotguns work well in them.
Give me a Butcher and a hardlight barrier at the top of a staircase though? om nom nom nom
thank you fellow pocket medic who is always healing me while i shoot baddies with MCG. :)
Ah the nice music of EVE, love it!
Hey that sounds like a really terrific shield based build. Giving you a nice effective HP bump.
@@CMDRCyrious thx Bro
the way he pronounced carapace caused me physical pain
I loved that guid since you said "Comab medic". I like to play this class a lot becouse of weapons, mostly they go toe to toe with best CQC Lmg's like MSW-R, Anchovies. But there is one priceless thing with playing Combat medic, ppl who pm you only to say that you are a shitty medic only becouse you didin't revive them :D
haha yeah people do get salty about not getting revives.
i really liked this video.
do you plan on making one for the other classes?
Infiltrator is already done, hopefully you have seen that one. Will do the other ones soon.
i just watched it thank you for the heads up :]
Keep em comming bby
Mention that if you see a dead person and you're near them, and not busy. Fucking revive them. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to respawn with a medic practically teabagging me.
Great content!
But i haven't got a carapace because of the bad luck
and wonder which implant should i take in this situation. And is it worthy to upgrade the Combat surgeon implant to LEVEL5?
I love combat surgeon. Love love. Highly recommend it. But even just using Battle Hardened in place of carapace is a nice one.
Would the Regen nade be useful for a carapace medic or would it be a waste?
Yes, actually. I can't say I have used it much myself, but regen grenades play really well in full carapace squads. Where your heavies are running carapace with resist shield as well. Get massive AE healing when everyone is running carapace.
Cyrious Gaming aight thank you
I play every faction and in general I feel like TR has the worst weapons in most areas but I have to say I love nearly all Assault Rifles of the TR.
I agree man. The Carbines and LMGs just have to much horizontal recoil to really feel nice. The ARs just really shine in the TR arsenal.
The amount of Medics that don't understand this on VS is... large.
Dan Gleeson times have changed.Back when i was a connery vs , the outfit i was in trained medics tbh
Just got carapace, now I need the surgeon so I can be affective
Have you ever tried the crossbow with smoke arrows +primary Shotgun? Its awesome. Especially if you can smoke a dead friendly and Rev manualy or with a Grenade even under fire.
Haha that's awesome, I have not tried that combo yet.
Lol.
Right on!
Thanks for the tips. Pretty new to the game. ^o^
Hey i loveyour vids theyre the reason i downloaded this game
Hey thanks so much for watching man!
lol as soon as i started using the medic in the past 7 days :D
Yep, I know it. Was thinking about you. ;)
Cyrious Gaming i'm not sure if to be honored or..... preoccupied by that xD
Do you have any updated tips for medic implant combos ?
No, medic loadouts are pretty much the same as you see here no big changes. Do note my flak armor with response jacket is a bit redundant, so maybe switch either the implant or the armor around on that one. But otherwise this is still what I use. Engineer and Light Assault have changed up a bit since though.
@@CMDRCyrious i saw there was an Experimental stim and mending shield implant, so i thought there where some new implant combos for medics. Thanks for letting me know you still use the same thing
@@CMDRCyrious can i have the updated implant combos you use for engineer ?
Big thank you dude, this video really helpful for the beginners as me. Hope i manage ty take this nice implants in someday:( И ещё раз, благодарю за полезный ролик:)
Right on. Good luck out there soldier. Its a rough n tumble world, but you will hold your own. I will see you... Planetside.
Heh, you such are nice person. You have my thanks an new subscriber:) Did you already have or want ty make in future, guide for shotguns? I realy like them, but i see only few situations, there they can be used. Maybe some class with unusual loadouts, make use them more or less stable?
