I recently purchased this Hydro Cooler from Corsair.

It allowed me to overclock my K series processor. I saw a 15 FPS boost, with a 10 degree C drop in temperatures. Careful, make sure it can fit in your machine, but I am so happy with the cost vs. performance gain. There are some less expensive models, that probably aren't as big, but will still net you a big performance gain!

►Community Performance Tips and Tricks◄
►If you're on a system with limited threads (i5 or mobile sort of i7), setting the minimum processor state to 100% can make a big difference.
►Google: Disable Cortana (saves over 50% of her take of CPU use or more)
►Listen to fans, if they are powering up faster than normal during a session, get a low power vacuum to suck crap out of them.
►As an alternative to setting planetside as a priority manually every time it starts, you can get ProcessLasso which auto-does it for you every time planetside starts and you can also set other priorities like IO, etc

►Why don't you always overlay what weapons you are using?◄
Sometimes people see an epic kill streak, and they want to buy that weapon because they think it will grant them that epic-ness. But it it's never the weapon, always the user. A lot of weapons you see me use, I actually dislike, but I want to get them Auraxiumed. So I don't want people to see a weapon I used, get all excited about my kill streak, then go buy the weapon, and find out it is disappointing. If you really gotta know the weapon, feel free to ask in the comments.

I get beautiful 11-20fps at max in any fights. People are jumping around my screen, hope this video helps lol
I know how to get 60+ fps in one step
have alot of money
That can certainly fix a lot of things.
yeah it's true, you need alot of money to get better computer.
having a lot of money wont do shit
you need to have better parts
buying and installing those parts with your lot of money is additional steps so that doesnt count, you said one step :D
@@theSato or you could just buy the overkill pc from the market
I have a Ryzen 7 1700x at 3800GHz on all 8 cores and a GTX 1080ti and no matter what graphics settings I change in the options, It barely changes anything more than +5 fps, that said My rig runs on ~60-70 FPS all the time just using like 30% CPU and varieing from 15% (all settings on very low) to 35% (All settings on max and 10.000 render range). Thats not how it should be. My graphics card is on the one hand boring its ass off, while at the same time not reaching more than 100FPS that it should get in this game. For a reference almost all my other games run on over 100FPS with very few exceptions like GTA which runs on all maxed settings on smooth ans stable 90FPS.
I'm out here playing r6 siege on ultra settings and pulling a stable 50-60fps and i jump into planetside 2 on medium and I get 60-70 in the warpgate and 15-20 in big fights.
that's just life on auraxis
I can safely compare your PC to the Millenium Falcon: Looks like junk but kicks ass.
Lol haha that is such a good description.
@@CMDRCyrious "What a piece of junk"
Cyrious: She's the fastest rig in the sector.
You deserve the best setup. Dont know any other ps2 or youtuber dedicated as you are. Great man
Thanks much Boris!
I must say I dumped over 700 hours into planetside with 30 FPS or less until now in which I have upgraded but even with 30 frames or less I have thoroughly enjoyed this game, still do
I have over 2k hours in this game, but I haven't been able to play in over 2 years because I melted my computer with this game. I am 17 now, so I got myself a job and have been saving up for 11 months for a good pc that will last me through my Air Force career. I can't wait to get back into it!
Awesome man!
Don't worry about it too much. Your air force pay will allow you too afford top tier equipment. Enjoy your 4k
Akios Eres ikr? Thanks man, I’ll see you planetside in another 365 days! XD
Caiden Root hey, i'm just curious. How are you? Still wanna play this game?
Had a similar issue a few years back. My powersupply shorted out and it took out my cpu and mother board. Was down for a few months till I could get my current motherboard and cpu.
I'm blown away by the quality of your videos and your integrity. Thank you so much. You have been a great help for me in this game.
I love how you use the ram cover to route cables
Haha jenky isn't it. :)
I'd be afraid of melting cables, Since I've overclocked my ram quite a bit
You did wonderfully man, even in 2022 helped me out greatly, subbed, liked, and clearly commenting. Keep up, listening to what you're asking of me now and regardless of what it is I got your back. Coming back to this game is serving us well!
I actually am searching around and not finding the amazon link to bookmark, idk if you'll see this Commander, sir, but I only see the link whereas you bought the cooler, I checked your channel and not finding where I can help support.
Hey Sicarius. Glad it helps, and sorry the link is outdated/deleted or not working. Its an old video. I'll post a new link on a video in the future, if you are still watching then you can hook it up. Otherwise just glad your performance improved.
In this game, I've always felt like people have beaten me out a little bit and this is the thing that pushed me over the edge. This video really helped me a lot thank you so much
Fantastic video and content - this is exactly what the community needed. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man, will do, more to come!
Oh boy, DX11 rendering will be great for this game when they implement that.
They just did
And it did basically nothing :D
@@HappyBeezerStudios it did though. The game runs a bit better than before.
In the first month after the update it was unplayable and by now it's back to how it ran before. With Escalation they actually managed to introduce some new input issues at framerates that were fine before.
Dude it looks so blurry, omg I can’t even play this game on GForce NOW at Max graphics even tho I changed my settings to ultra and still looks the same: ugly and blurry on GForce NOW
Thank you a lot for putting so much effort in to make a real high quality tutorial!
You are welcome man
Keep up the videos my man. I love how you take your time to explain things in a clear methodical manner thanks
Hey thanks very much, thanks for watching! More coming soon.
The actual guide begins at 15:30

Amazing content Cyrious. Keep up the good job you are doing.
Thanks!
So far i love your videos, i also love your mindset when it comes to links and advertisements, after hearing that i instantly went to subscribe and like
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Phenomenal in depth video that truly helped. Really enjoyed it. You have a radio voice. Thanks for the effort.
Hey thanks man, glad I could help!
I was running 45-60 before your video and I just logged off after making changes and was running 85-95. OMG headshots are so much easier!
That was awesome and also very clear, keep it up! Cheers
Hey thanks man! More to come.
Great video! I will make sure I share this with my friends who want to improve their PS2 experience. Thanks Cyrious!
Thanks for doing that, gotta spread the help!
man even if this doesnt work for me (im fairly sure it will) the sheer amount of effort you put into this deserves a like and sub. Thank you so much for your help.
Hey thanks man. Its a bit old now, and the new DX11 patch messed with a lot of things, but a lot of the information is still useful.
Followed most of your advice and my fps jumped from unstable 10-25 to stable 40-70 even at night and big fights. Thanks man. i7-7700HQ 16gb ram gtx1050ti 4gb
thanks so much for tips! my fav utuber right now, great guides for all aspects of this wonderful game. Also since this video I believe they have added Dx11 which would have helped for sure.
They have added DX11 since so that def helps!
10/10 guide. Fixed nearly all my performance issues for a lot of games.
This helped a lot thank you 👍🏾
You're welcome!
Thank you so much man! Made the game 100% better for me!
I just watched this video again to see if i could squeeze a few more frames out of my pc. I noticed you said to run the game fullscreen instead of fullscreen windowed. i must've neglected to do that the first time around. my frames just jumped from 45 fps to hovering around 100 fps. the game looks ever so slightly worse but not so you'd notice unless you were looking for it. thank you! so much smoother to play now and it makes tracking moving targets easier i think.
Hey bro you helped me loads so you got my support by giving you a new sub keep up the content bro :)
Finally, thanks for video.
my gaming laptop can go from 60-100 fps when not in or near a battle, to 25-65 when in or near a battle. this is after i optimized it. i noticed that, for me at least, the single biggest help was removing background apps. surprisingly however, was that running google chrome had almost no effect on performance. these numbers are also while playing on very low graphics settings so i would recommend that when troubleshooting whats is causing your performance issues to start at very low setting and then go up from their until you are comfortable with what you have.
@Cyrious After lots and lots of planetside I started noticing my rig really starting to slow down and my fps become horrible so this guide really helped me. I'm also running a i5-3570K and a GTX 660 but was still using the stock intel cooler. My CPU was running at 70 degrees Celsius in idle!!! so I ran out and got the exact cooler you're running here and over clocked my cpu to 4.0 and now im getting 90 - 100 fps in small fights and not seeing a dip below 60 fps in larger fights on briggs thanks so much for this excellent guide!
It is amazing what a good cooler can do for your CPU isn't it? That's awesome man, you're welcome.
Great tips. I followed along and changed some settings. Thanks!
edit: HOLY CRUD IT'S SO SMOOTH NOW
Nice man! Glad things helped!
thanks for the help!!
This video is insanely informative
thanks for the tips
Your issue with maximised fullscreen is the DWM (Desktop Window Manager). It forces triple buffered Vsync on the desktop. Under Win 7 it can be disabled, on Win 8 it can be forced off with some hacks, on Win 10 thre is no way known yet.
So if you experienced stuttering and input lag with (normal) double buffered Vsync, think of that, but worse.
Good Video thanks!
No problem!
Additional MOSFET blowing will help in the stability of the system
I had a Cooler Master case from 2007 - 2022, recently got a Legion Case!
I have a big one that had drastically increased my performance and I have no idea why. In the graphics settings there was an option for multi monitor support. I turned that off and I jumped like 10 fps. Yes, I have 2 monitors but I only use my main one. Also, lowering texture quality is big for me because my processor is my only major bottle neck. Thank you.
Well looka there. Right as I upload my first video on my new rig, you come out with this video! Anyways, I will agree with you when you said that PS2 is fun with 30 fps. It certainly was!
Awesome man! New rig, that is exciting!
30 fps. How about 12 fps. I have been planetside 2 now for a number of years, BR108 but my K/D is only 0.4 due to low frame rate. However i still enjoy it just try to avoid to many one on ones as even BR1 make me look like a newbee :)
Haha good for you man 😊
@Commander Cyrious if you ever do an updated guide on this, you might mention that if you are going to run Planetside 2 as Administrator, then you also have to run the Recursion Stats Tracker as Administrator. If you don't run both executables as Administrator, then any overlay that you might want to use from the Recursion software won't work (among other Recursion functions).
Im going to re-post your video on all the other videos that just repeated the same old bullshit no fix tips i tried before. best video out on this topic. great job keep up the great work bro
Cheers for spreading the help! Defs will help save some players the frustration if they can figure out how to get the most performance out of their systems
I will keep it up and thanks for your support!
Thanks it sort of helped by making my FPS better but still in the battle zone my FPS will go from 90 to 10 and keep going up and down.
The Steam article linked regarding XBox program in Windows seems to have disappeared. May want to throw in an edit to the description and if possible some sort of pop-up in-video.
Following step-by-step otherwise. Thanks again for all your dedication Cyrious!
If I recall, they (MS) deleted the app from Windows entirely in a patch a while ago. I disabled as you did a while ago though; but given the nature of the video and my desire to increase performance and educate myself, I went searching anyway and found the article deleted, and no record of it on my comp.
Ahhh, thanks for the heads up. I will work on getting that removed.
Three years later and this got my fps up from 2 to 20-45, thanks man
This game is now like 7-8 years old and an RX 570, and a Ryzen 5 2400G later and it still drops to 36 FPS in large scale gunfights
yeah i agree but sometimes its playable.
That was very helpful thx
Man I love your depth of emotions man I totally understand why you do this now thanks.
thank you so much for posting this! im amazed that you are running a gtx660! you have such high quality videos. again thank you! subbed and bell'd. You always inspire me to play this game over my usual blizzard titles.
Thanks for watching! Cyrious does make a good argument hey
Had a 660 Ti running until last Nov. Still a nice card and still more than enough for Planetside. The reason to get a better card for PS2 is for downsampling. Can't stand the shimmering of that obnoxious FXAA.
Thanks man! Appreciate all your support, I will keep it coming, and see you... Planetside.
The right words!
Forget about worrying if it can run crysis.
The real question is can it run Planetside 2
*Edit*. Wow I was not expecting this comment to be liked for a video this old. Thanks
for windows 10 you can use process lasso to set a programs priority and it will default to that setting in the future untill changed, can be useful for permanently setting a games priority to high
I really like that my pc only drops to 50fps during huge battles on medium/high settings, but my poor laptop. Low settings with at a 4:3 aspect ratio and it was barely managing 30 when I entered a fight.
Nice man
Anything that can run with Planetside 2 on very high settings can handle anything.
I can say. My Asus G752 Laptop can handle this game on very high normally.
Very high normal?
Is that when your laptop is stoned?
Herc Lil indeed
What kind of fucking hardware did they shove in that laptop?
I have a G750 laptop from 2011 that runs this game at 40 fps on medium setting just fine after I changed the thermal paste.
my new i5 7600k and rx 580 with crucial ssd eats this game for breakfast with 5 tabs of chrome open . I worked 2 hard months for it tho
I have most things on high and maintain about 60fps most of the time. Bio lab fights and stuff sometimes drop to 40ish though. Could probably drop effects and shadows but mah graphics tho.
Hell I remember about 4 years ago my friend told me to download this game. I only had my school's ThinkPad to run it. Had 2.5ghz cpu 4gig of ram and an integrated gpu. Got about 20fps - 12 in fights. I still played about 30 hours of planetside.
Nice man.
16:!5 well that is a WIndows 10 issue, on Win 7 windowed fullscreen is just as smooth just by disabling aero.
It basically vsyncs the desktop, and that also affects the game if it's not in exclusive fullscreen.
2022 edition when?:D love your vids man
Hey thanks man. I will add an update to the list.
LoL Cyrious ;) Vanu is watching! greetings and fun fact, we got almost the same system :D
This video is very old. But I had so many issues with PS2. I've played with 40fps but many, MANY stutters. Now I'm playing with a steady 120fps on a 1060. This video is incredible
Woot glad to help!
this video is so helpful i got a 970 16 gb ram and i7 4790k but this is all stuff im gonna try. planetsde consistently crashes within lie 10 min of running the game or getting in a plane getting out and blowing stuff up instant crash and blue screen and not the only game that crashes and then blue screens. so ths whole thing with the begining was sick too for all games
For those who can deal with shadows, leave it on. It gives you a visual queue when the sun casts a shadow on your enemy and it shows right on your face.
Big fan!
That was a very comprehensive list
I run mostly AMD so yeah I have to finesse the guidance a bit for graphics. But otherwise fantastic video
I really feel you on not wanting to come off like you're begging for money. I like your approach. It kinda piggybacks off Amazon smile. Good middle ground
Process Lasso will save your CPU priority status for PS2. Try that. I am using it for a few titles that are older that hammer a single core. I move those games off core 0 as well since everything trying to use it.
My system actually keeps the game process on high, even if I didn't set it. Dunno if it is something I sat at some point or if BattleEye is doing something.
The issue about the stuttery feeling in windowed fullscreen is the forced triple buffered vsync on the Windows desktop. An issue that can easily resolved on Windowss 7 (by disabling desktop composition. Either by ticking the box on the shortcut to the game, or by simply stopping the corresponding service) And while there is kind of a hacky workaround for Windows 8 (which includes killing explorer.exe and more), no known way to fix it exists for Windows 10 yet.
Ahh bummer, will be exciting if we ever find a work around.
I was wondering why i only hit 30 frames because 3 OF MY CORES WERE PARKED
Thanks for the videos I just got into planetside2 2 days ago and was getting 0 kills just getting killed instantly, now after watching your videos I can get 2-3 kills before dying thanks
Hey awesome man! Glad they are helping. Let me know if there are any other topics you would like information on.
Keep at it man, it's a rough curve but it's rewarding once you get rolling and you sound like you are on your way up
iridar.net/planetside2/starter-guide/
13:35. This can be fixed with a program called Process Hacker. I downloaded it because I got tired of having to manually set the programs to high priority. Do it here like you would in Task Manager but now you're given the option to save the priority.
Good tip
YESSSSSS I LOVE THE PS2 LORE! MORE LORE!!!
Once I can get some 4K footage I will pump it out!
I love YOUR username!
Holy shit is that Miss Atley from Emerald?
Hey wuzzzzzzzzup!
Atley Meow PS1 had interesting lore too. That PS2 touched on only briefly.
the way I open my setup was just by going into GeForce experience *and I have got NVidia drivers* and just kept changing the stages from performance good and quality bad to in-between
You know, I can actually think of a single game that was (when it was still running) as intensive as Planetside 2... And it was an MMORPG :)
Thank you very much. I have a gtx660 to and now i know, how to overcome 35 fps..
wow i went from between 30-40 fps lower in a high pop battle to about 60 in a mid pop battle and abt 80-90 fps when in a non combat area, doing all this things only thing left is more ram and a ssd drive.
I've heard that windows set priority automatically and you need to download a program to get windows to remember priority
Great!
Glad it helps!
Nice vid
Thanks!
Its 2022 and it helped me a lot to bust fps in massive battle to stable 100 from 2-40 drops. i didnt know what happened. Also i switched from very low potato to prettier game settings. thx Cmdr!
If you really need the fps you can disable the HUD in the planetside2 settings for a massive fps boost but the game will become waaay harder to properly play.
I
Didn't know that, I will have to try it.
"We will see them.. Planetside" My favorite part of his videos. :)
I remember playing Planetside 2 with a 2010 pc with an I5-650 6gb ram and an ATI Radeon HD5570. It worked. . . until they updated the game and put the cpu minimum requirement just over that cpu and forced to stop playing because fps was so bad after. Glad I have a modern pc now
I have a 3570k too. still using stock cooler with it clocked to 4.0GHz, temp never reaches 70. (not that i've noticed) ill be playing PS2 again soon so ill have to check what its like with more CPU intensive games. i was the same though never wanted to OC on stock cooler but i read up about it and its fine. along as you monitor temps, and im just using onboard software (AXTU).
my CPU temps might have something to do with how well my case cools as well though. oh and im not using stock thermal paste that shit basically turned to powder about 18 months ago lol.
yup. just peaked into 80-81 temps. (with everything maxed) cpu usage at about 80-84% so yeah props to Intel stock cooler ^.^
i know this is a bit late and may or may not help. but I'm sure there are people with shitty or semi shitty internet speeds. But I have two programs intended to help with connection issues. Leatrix Latency Fix and TCP Optimizer. the first one you just install it and it's done. the second one you go in and tweak the settings for best performance out of your internet connection. I hope this helps some folks. I have a good connection but it still improves your connection to the game, any PC game for that matter. I know I've seen players with latency issues and it cut their latency in half and the lower the number the better. And by number I mean latency, ms, ping or whatever the hell it's called.
I used to play PS2 on i7 2600k with gtx560ti back in 2014-15 and 8gb ram. They pumped the graphics?
2019 edition?
Maybe in 2020, yeah this needs updated.
Oh wow you actually answered! It's pretty rare, especially on an old video
I found after coming back to the game with the same hardware my performance has increased substantially.
Yeah, 2020 edition with the new DX11 renderer.
And maybe some view over what hardware is actually required, because the "official requirements" are still a joke.
there is a official post about the performance issues that started a few years back, some microsoft code they upgraded to make making game assets that broke the performance, after that fact i built a pc twice the performance in gpu and cpu, and did barely see any improvement . even if i set every setting to minimum in a big fight, i still hit 40fps (6700k4.6ghz gtx 1070 2ghz).
there is basically no difference for me to play on lower settings.
Yeah got it.
If you've got plenty of RAM in your PC, and your workload really isn't that huge, you may never run into application crashing errors with the pagefile disabled, but you're also taking away from memory that Windows could be using for read and write caching for your actual documents and other files. If your drive is spending a lot of time thrashing, you might want to consider increasing the amount of memory Windows uses for the filesystem cache, rather than disabling the pagefile.
Am I the only one who's super-hyped about this PS2 lore video ? :D
Woot! Glad you are man, I am too, I hope I can deliver on the hype!
Sure you gonna do it ;)
You must must must make an update video dude! Was just about to uninstall this game due to poor fps, despite a high performance gaming rig. Followed this advice and my gaming experience has improved beyond words. K/D has doubled!
I will try to get to another one in the future. Thanks!
Ah yes.. That definitely is a mid 2000's computer. I love it. Such nostalgia.
Am liking dem GAIIIINNSSSS
Just turn off shadows, saves me about 10 - 20 fps.im like at the start of the video but I just did it today and it was a good discovery for me.
Yes, shadows are murder, get them off.
cyrious maybe something nice for your content is doing the patch notes in an informative explained manner which explains the changes in an newbie friendly way. :)
Hey man, I do like to cover patch notes, but unfortunately my work schedule doesn't get those videos out right away. If you search for Drax Gaming. He does a really good job of covering patch notes quickly.
i know he does, just saying it might be an good idea for you because you have the potential to do so, even when it takes longer then usual i would still watch the video :)
Hey, I know about a software which will forcefully keep the priority of a process at your settings. ITs called Process Lasso. You can use demo version for limited features.
Nice, OK thanks for the tip.
Right I followed some of the steps that has been provided in the video but I don’t know if it’s working or not, I tweaked around with the files and I unparked my cores, after the game launches it comes up with “server cobalt is down” but all of my progress is on there... help?
The game was down for maintenance this morning, so that is what was causing your issue.
My PC is about 2-3 years old and I can run the game on ultra and still get more than 30 fps in large fights. Now while that's fine it doesn't make me as competitive as I'd like when in large fights so I'll definitely give this a shot
Disabling fullscreen optimizations is a big one. It doesn't increase the fps but feels like doubling it almost. A lot smoother and less input lag
Edit: I recommend trying it in other games as well. It is a must in csgo for me.
That big a difference ay? Why would M$ put it on as default if they know it would affect games I wonder. Not even sure what it does. Will have to go look see...
the cable management almost gaveme a heart attack xD
haha I knew everyone would get me for that.
I’ve seen some players run the game on low settings and always wondered if they do it to have a little advantage visually. Can you confirm that or does it really come down to only performance?
Performance is the advantage. If you are talking turning down settings so they can see through bushes and stuff. Nah, that doesn't really help. Turning down particles can help you see through smoke a bit. But really the advantage comes from having better FPS, which helps your aim.
Okay, thank you very much!
