►The How you can support the Channel Section◄
I recently purchased this Hydro Cooler from Corsair.
    ↦ amzn.to/2k8jJAV ↤
It allowed me to overclock my K series processor. I saw a 15 FPS boost, with a 10 degree C drop in temperatures. Careful, make sure it can fit in your machine, but I am so happy with the cost vs. performance gain. There are some less expensive models, that probably aren't as big, but will still net you a big performance gain!

    ►Community Performance Tips and Tricks◄
►If you're on a system with limited threads (i5 or mobile sort of i7), setting the minimum processor state to 100% can make a big difference.
►Google: Disable Cortana (saves over 50% of her take of CPU use or more)
►Listen to fans, if they are powering up faster than normal during a session, get a low power vacuum to suck crap out of them.
►As an alternative to setting planetside as a priority manually every time it starts, you can get ProcessLasso which auto-does it for you every time planetside starts and you can also set other priorities like IO, etc

►Why don't you always overlay what weapons you are using?◄
Sometimes people see an epic kill streak, and they want to buy that weapon because they think it will grant them that epic-ness. But it it's never the weapon, always the user. A lot of weapons you see me use, I actually dislike, but I want to get them Auraxiumed. So I don't want people to see a weapon I used, get all excited about my kill streak, then go buy the weapon, and find out it is disappointing. If you really gotta know the weapon, feel free to ask in the comments.

I have a Ryzen 7 1700x at 3800GHz on all 8 cores and a GTX 1080ti and no matter what graphics settings I change in the options, It barely changes anything more than +5 fps, that said My rig runs on ~60-70 FPS all the time just using like 30% CPU and varieing from 15% (all settings on very low) to 35% (All settings on max and 10.000 render range). Thats not how it should be. My graphics card is on the one hand boring its ass off, while at the same time not reaching more than 100FPS that it should get in this game. For a reference almost all my other games run on over 100FPS with very few exceptions like GTA which runs on all maxed settings on smooth ans stable 90FPS.

my gaming laptop can go from 60-100 fps when not in or near a battle, to 25-65 when in or near a battle. this is after i optimized it. i noticed that, for me at least, the single biggest help was removing background apps. surprisingly however, was that running google chrome had almost no effect on performance. these numbers are also while playing on very low graphics settings so i would recommend that when troubleshooting whats is causing your performance issues to start at very low setting and then go up from their until you are comfortable with what you have.

Your issue with maximised fullscreen is the DWM (Desktop Window Manager). It forces triple buffered Vsync on the desktop. Under Win 7 it can be disabled, on Win 8 it can be forced off with some hacks, on Win 10 thre is no way known yet.
So if you experienced stuttering and input lag with (normal) double buffered Vsync, think of that, but worse.

@Commander Cyrious if you ever do an updated guide on this, you might mention that if you are going to run Planetside 2 as Administrator, then you also have to run the Recursion Stats Tracker as Administrator. If you don't run both executables as Administrator, then any overlay that you might want to use from the Recursion software won't work (among other Recursion functions).

I have most things on high and maintain about 60fps most of the time. Bio lab fights and stuff sometimes drop to 40ish though. Could probably drop effects and shadows but mah graphics tho.
Hell I remember about 4 years ago my friend told me to download this game. I only had my school's ThinkPad to run it. Had 2.5ghz cpu 4gig of ram and an integrated gpu. Got about 20fps - 12 in fights. I still played about 30 hours of planetside.

16:!5 well that is a WIndows 10 issue, on Win 7 windowed fullscreen is just as smooth just by disabling aero.
It basically vsyncs the desktop, and that also affects the game if it's not in exclusive fullscreen.

Process Lasso will save your CPU priority status for PS2. Try that. I am using it for a few titles that are older that hammer a single core. I move those games off core 0 as well since everything trying to use it.

My system actually keeps the game process on high, even if I didn't set it. Dunno if it is something I sat at some point or if BattleEye is doing something.
The issue about the stuttery feeling in windowed fullscreen is the forced triple buffered vsync on the Windows desktop. An issue that can easily resolved on Windowss 7 (by disabling desktop composition. Either by ticking the box on the shortcut to the game, or by simply stopping the corresponding service) And while there is kind of a hacky workaround for Windows 8 (which includes killing explorer.exe and more), no known way to fix it exists for Windows 10 yet.

13:35. This can be fixed with a program called Process Hacker. I downloaded it because I got tired of having to manually set the programs to high priority. Do it here like you would in Task Manager but now you're given the option to save the priority.

I have a 3570k too. still using stock cooler with it clocked to 4.0GHz, temp never reaches 70. (not that i've noticed) ill be playing PS2 again soon so ill have to check what its like with more CPU intensive games. i was the same though never wanted to OC on stock cooler but i read up about it and its fine. along as you monitor temps, and im just using onboard software (AXTU).
my CPU temps might have something to do with how well my case cools as well though. oh and im not using stock thermal paste that shit basically turned to powder about 18 months ago lol.
yup. just peaked into 80-81 temps. (with everything maxed) cpu usage at about 80-84% so yeah props to Intel stock cooler ^.^

i know this is a bit late and may or may not help. but I'm sure there are people with shitty or semi shitty internet speeds. But I have two programs intended to help with connection issues. Leatrix Latency Fix and TCP Optimizer. the first one you just install it and it's done. the second one you go in and tweak the settings for best performance out of your internet connection. I hope this helps some folks. I have a good connection but it still improves your connection to the game, any PC game for that matter. I know I've seen players with latency issues and it cut their latency in half and the lower the number the better. And by number I mean latency, ms, ping or whatever the hell it's called.

there is a official post about the performance issues that started a few years back, some microsoft code they upgraded to make making game assets that broke the performance, after that fact i built a pc twice the performance in gpu and cpu, and did barely see any improvement . even if i set every setting to minimum in a big fight, i still hit 40fps (6700k4.6ghz gtx 1070 2ghz).
there is basically no difference for me to play on lower settings.

If you've got plenty of RAM in your PC, and your workload really isn't that huge, you may never run into application crashing errors with the pagefile disabled, but you're also taking away from memory that Windows could be using for read and write caching for your actual documents and other files. If your drive is spending a lot of time thrashing, you might want to consider increasing the amount of memory Windows uses for the filesystem cache, rather than disabling the pagefile.

My PC is about 2-3 years old and I can run the game on ultra and still get more than 30 fps in large fights. Now while that's fine it doesn't make me as competitive as I'd like when in large fights so I'll definitely give this a shot

Disabling fullscreen optimizations is a big one. It doesn't increase the fps but feels like doubling it almost. A lot smoother and less input lag
Edit: I recommend trying it in other games as well. It is a must in csgo for me.

I’ve seen some players run the game on low settings and always wondered if they do it to have a little advantage visually. Can you confirm that or does it really come down to only performance?

    • @CMDRCyrious
      @CMDRCyrious  6 років тому

Performance is the advantage. If you are talking turning down settings so they can see through bushes and stuff. Nah, that doesn't really help. Turning down particles can help you see through smoke a bit. But really the advantage comes from having better FPS, which helps your aim.
