Great work CT. I have a ‘59 Dodge D300 awaiting a similar amount of refurbishing so watching this has been great. Can’t wait to see the how this goes for you.
CT, don't let the front mounting "bite" you! Remember that 3 point (triangle) suspension is least likely to transmit vibration. In this specific case, the torque of the engine is absorbed by the relatively massive rear mounts, and the front mount is the one at the top of the inverted U shape. All it has to do is support weight. Your brother has it right. Normally, there are two mounts on the side of the engine, and one under the transmission. Being a Mopar, and built for hard service, this is the reverse of ordinary practice. The two mystery hoses go to a bypass type oil filter, which was pretty much what was used before the full flow filters came into general use in the sixties. The midships transfer case mounting is unique. Probably a Military spec? Safety third department: Get out from under the suspended weight!! Probably the next step here would be taking off the transmission, then mounting the engine on your engine stand. You will probably be able to find a rebuilt water pump. This isn't something that manufacturers change the design on frequently. The general design is a popular one for the time.
Man, this ole truck is sixty five years old, same year as me. Man to evaluate the wear and play in that ole engine would have been so easy to start and listen to it purr like a new born kitten. Yeah that front horse shoe mount was standard on that wagon. Hope you get it back on the road, but if it kicks your butt too hard give me a holler and I'll come and get her. I appreciate the video.
FBG - I don't imagine you'd spin over easy either if someone stuck a breaker bar on your cran... Whoops, hang on, just realized this analogy fails on several levels. As you were. Carry on. :P
Man that’s a tremendous amount of work! Hopefully everything goes to plans for you! It would be great to see you use the original engine! Great job so far Ct!
Hey there Buddy.. That hole on the water pump.. That is called a weep hole.. When water starts dripping from it, the water pump needs to be rebuilt. You can probably still get a kit. Regards from Ody Slim
Excellent video CT :) also yes the rebuilt motor, transmission plus clutch, all truck be super for sure and excellent so be nice when get all videos on too! Also water hoses clamps the company still business too and that front motor on water pump and hold in frame is task to do but easily to take apart! Lube up and if bolts snap just drill out put new ones in plus anti seize in new ones too! On bottom of water pump is Weeping Hole tell when Water pump to be rebuilt or replaced in when time do but this seized be needed fix up!
The mount connected to the water pump is the mount for the engine. It probably is a 318 but it would be a great find if it was the “413 wedge head” engine but I think that came in like a sport model, don’t really remember though.
Looks like the front mount might unbolt thru the cross member.....🤷♂️ some old Fords had that horseshoe with a single front and two bell housing mounts. Dodge n Ford used to swap alot of ideas Bachk in the day👍
CT in some situations for hard to get to bolts or nuts i have a set of ring spanners not expensive set cut them in half then you can slide the flat end up a piece or round pipe also great for leverage if you cant get a breaker bar in and also save skin on your knuckles You might already know this in some cases as you experienced its hard if the bolt heads rounded anyway your an intelligent man you will work it all out cheers matey
At 8:30 Use the magic finnish word PERKELE. This will give you power to open eaven the tightets bolt😡. Regards Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.
Le desarman por completo y no son capaces de lavarle el motor y chasis, para hacer un video háganlo bien y terminen todo no dejando a medias, simplemente pésimo y lo peor que son de una hora aburridos no se ve nada bueno solo que le desarman y nada mas ..
Reading some comments there and it's definitely not a 318 what it is I'm not sure but yes the bracket under the water pump is the front mount and the other two mounts would be on the transmission where the tranny and motor bolt together and then there won't be a transmission mount at the back of the transmission
I thought you would know better that front mount is the motor mount for also if you take off that fan and that belt holder you might be able to get to that boat's easier
Those tabs at the front sides of the engine look like they are for an application that uses the Chrysler Floating Power mount. They are a big block of rubber sandwiched into a metal bracket and a tab that bolts to the frame. The design is so there is no direct metal to metal contact from the frame to engine, resulting in very little vibration. I'm not sue about 58, but those were standard starting in 59 on Chryslers and Imperials. Those are a costly item to replace now.
Lol probably back about 10-15 years ago the older guys use to rebuild the water pumps but now all that stuff is starting to dry up and the older guys are either retired or passed away. It’s a shame vehicles are not made to be fixed like that anymore .
Wow! I've watched you fumble around as if you knew what you're doing. You don't! But at least you're trying. Here's a tip! Remove the bolts from the drive shaft and completely remove it before you pull an engine and transmission. Also, do some research on the vehicle, before you ruin some really hard to find parts.
Can't stand it. Don't know what you're doing but it's going okay. Spray everything with used motor oil and pour it in the carb. Let it sit for a day while you get some old guy.
I hope everyone is doing well. More Power Wagon & Beetle coming soon! =) 😎😎😎
So happy to see you back rocking out some videos, keep being awesome!

This looks like a great restoration
Thanks Scott!
Nooo, another unfinished project. It will never be restored, just a pile of parts.

CT get some 6 point sockets and end wrenches. Keeps from rounding the heads off of the bolts. Great video.
It was kept neatly so this engine perfect comperative wuth others..it is nice to see it another day next episode.thanks
What happened to the Swamp Dragon?
The frame was blasted and painted. The engine is rebuilt and I'm waiting for parts. =)

Hey Ody Slim, Thanks man. That is good to know! =)
Have you already 1965 VW Beetle Restoration project?
I'm very interested in following it. I think it's a very interesting project
Bring swamp dragon or rusty back they were such dope builds.
keep on trucking rebuilding
Thanks C! =)
Nice work on removal CT !!
I hope you rebuild and reuse the motor, that would be awesome. That is a really solid motor from what I can tell. Keep up the great work bro. :) 👍
Thanks Kelly! That's the plan! =)
The canister on the firewall is the external oil filter and those two lines go to it to provide oil for filtering
I see your still tearing old vehicles apart then never doing anything else with them.Atleast your consistent!
неужели так сложно было перед разборкой двигателя попылесосить или продуть его от мусора?

Devamını merakla bekliyoruz.
Canal top , estava muito empolgado com o fusca / Beetle .
Rule of thumb when it comes to removal of it's and bolts: right tighty, lefty loosely; or clock wise to tighten, counter clock wise to loosen.
Question about the engine, are you going to repurpose some items like the fan and distributor ect that is not too far gone?
Hey Shaun, yes, anything worth saving will be cleaned up and restored. =)
Love the power wagon😊
Meu amigo hoje vc nao ta bem kkkkk ta parecendo eu trabalhando
Hey CT, how's the beetle coming along mate? I'm on tenterhooks here with the waiting, lol! Don't leave me hanging...
Hey buddy! Should have an update tomorrow! =)

its a 315 Polyshpere
413 came out in 59.

Respect your followers and return to Volkswagen
CT, I like your enthusiasm ... but you should 've first washed the wagon. Makes it easier to work on and also to see what you are doing. Good luck.
Me encanta ese proyecto , sólo por curiosidad que es lo que está obtruyendo el carburador ?
Avisperos, están por todo el camión, también sacó muchos del VW Beetle que está haciendo.
Good.jop 😄😄😄cool 👏👏👏👍
Kiitos taas hyvästä videosta👍👏🇺🇸
What is the latest about the 58 power wagon!
Perhaps it’s block design for a military truck frame.
I wonder if that is a week hole on the water pump
Hi CT, so far so good removing parts. I assume Darrin will be rebuilding it depending on the cost your brother wants to spend?
awesome
Que me e perdido ?
Has comprado un chasis sin carrocería o no e visto algún vídeo?
What you're calling water pump bolts is the front engine mount
At 8:30 Use the magic finnish word PERKELE. This will give you power to open eaven the tightets bolt😡. Regards Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.
the hole on the bottom of the water pump is a weep hole for coolant to come out when the seal in the water pump goes bad
Thanks Gary! Good to know! =)
0:52 Always work it back and forth gradually or you risk pinching the rings up.
What happened to the VW you were doing? I was following that project too. Did I miss something?
What's happened to the beetle and karmann?
😆
no. that engine was designed to fit multiple vehicles. they did not have mountts except for mount at front waterpump.
Thanks Lance! Good to know. =)
fun pastime
you need a puller to pull the crank pulley, maybe
Hi Ct
I found the original water pump on Amazon. Its brand new
Will swamp dragon return and the Gia

that exhaust cross over tube had to be terrible for performance. and those heat risers always stuck from what I remember.
65 vdub ?
Dang Bolts
That’s the engine mount in the front.
Knight rider. 😎💯✌️
I agree CT, bringing something back to life is very cool. I understand your motivation
Yeah so far all motivation for him only lasts while he takes it apart :D

@@CTmoog it's okay you didn't know
@@CTmoog I do believe that motors probably not good
Check with Dylan Mckool. Hes pretty much your Go To Guy for all things Dodge. Dylan Mckool in You Tube.
The 2 lines going to the canister on the firewall is most likely for a remote oil filter.

More beetle
A cotter bolt? OMG this is so painful to watch...
All of his vids are painful to watch.

Not sure why you haven’t unbolted the front mount from the chassis, would have saved you from taking all the front off the motor. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
That canister and those lines may be an oil filter system.
BUILD A STAND// AND TAKE THE TIRES OFF// GAVE YOU MORE ROOM TO WORK
Every thing you tear off or apart from that truck should be saved and inventoried cause a replacement would be next to impossible to find.
Put some tires and make it a rolling chassis
Yeahhhhh
just put engine than worry about the other suff
looks like a bearing fell out in back
It seam to be intersted-.
weep hole on the water pump
Take the bolts out of the frame
hope ya have a lift that Engine is Heavy, Just joking.
