I rode around in the crew cab Power Wagon at the Iowa Rally and the owner is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. If it can be possible, it is even better in person than it looks on video. Top notch build and quality. Mission accomplished Mr. Verst.
Wow , just love both of them. My first new truck was a dodge w200 in 1976 dark green . By 1979 I had about 30,000 miles on it. I became paralyzed by botched operation and had to give it up , my father took it since it was new. Tuff times for all of us and even worse now but that's life. Thanks always loved the power wagons of old.
Crew cab is excellent , has to be the best ever made , time and patience to make this awesome machine . Just exactly right in proportion . Raise my hat to the owner for excellent fabrication and engineering skills . An absolute gem . . . The red and cream bus . Another excellent example of amazing work and ownership . Both of these owners should be absolutely proud to have achieved the amazing standard of time and work that has went into creating two of the best out there . .
Loved those old Power Wagon trucks since they were practically new. Almost inherited one when a close friend died, but got shafted out of it. First thing that went through my mind seeing the one in the video was: _Wow! First crew cab one I've ever seen!_ It was a bit of a relief hearing it was a handmade one of a kind.
The Powerwagon pickup is absolutely fantastic. The craftsmanship is superb and the color while could be referred to as "Olive Drab", there is nothing drab about it. Most of these Powerwagons you see painted in a drag green or red, sometimes with black fenders. The difference in his color choices really help to make his stand out. Also I am personally really impressed by the condition and wrap of his winch cable. As a person involved in the recovery industry for many decades nothing upsets me more than an operator who abuses, crushes and misses winds his cable back onto the drum. Thus shortening the operating life of the cable in the process. There are several people whom I have given their walking papers to for this very reason. It's a great job and I must say that it makes me jealous.
Hey..MCC crew..I really gotta tell you, I think this is probably on of the best "1 on 1" episodes. Super nice car owners. Unless an individual is an absolute true blue power wagon afficianato, there is no way anyone can tell he modified this vehicle. Love the Red and Cream truck. Always loved Red and Cream together. Classy, just plain 'o classy. Keep on truckin'!!
What a great episode! Dennis is very good at what he does I’ve seen him carry many interviews. This episode though is great because both these gents are true enthusiasts much like Dennis. Thank you very much to the whole crew! MCC is in my top 3 favourite shows ever! If I can I hope one day I can check an item off my bucket list and meet Dennis:)
Wow what an incredible build and something as little as relocating the back door hinges to maintain the bodylines shows his attention to detail. Fooled me for a second and then I thought "hang on a 4 door Power Wagon from way back then"? LOL, awesome and beautiful work truly I'm sure the talk of any car show he participates in. 😊😊 😎 😎
Amazing! As young Army Private with the 101st at Fort Campbell Kentucky in 1966, I was assigned an Army 3/4 Ton Dodge truck. I had to do everything with it to keep it mission ready. The gearing would let you crawl up just about anything. You could throw it out of an airplane and it would still only got 45 miles per hour. Great memories.
I had a 1959 Dodge Fargo panel wagon two wheel drive in the 70's, the body looked similar but without side windows, it had the V8 with a column shifted 3 speed, no power steering, after I installed 8 inch rimmed tires on the front and 10 inch 0n the back. trying to park was quite a chore, the Van had a 2 spoke steering wheel, after I broke two trying to park I installed a custom steel steering wheel, the 3 speed transmissions were not strong enough for the V8, I broke quite a few trying to burn rubber, I loved that truck, I once drove from Seattle to Vancouver in a snow storm with a broken transmission, first and reverse would always be the gears that gave up the ghost, I drove home with just second and third gear working.
It’s amazing. Both of these vehicles were originally completely utilitarian, and yet, still had more class, style, and personality than most modern vehicles.
Normally that town wagon woulda been very cool. But the job that guy did on the crew cab was incredible! I’m old enough to remember when dodge was selling power wagons, but I love everything about what he did with the pickup. So cool!!
Awesome pair of Trucks,..LOVE the 4-door mod.....Very Nice Job ....My first truck was a 59 D-100...plane-jane, bullet-proof....& 2-day Im still in a Dodge Ram.
I'll tell you. If they could build a "today" version of the 1955 Power Wagon (looking just like that, but upgraded to today's standards, they'd sell a ton of them.
No they wouldn't. People dont want rugged, they want touchscreens and car suspensions in trucks. Just look at all the suburban moms who buy wranglers and 4runners. They'd sell poorly to hardcore offroad guys, fiat would lose money, and they'd discontinue it a few million dollars poorer
Simple strong and durable. What trucks use to be.I love my 2006 Dodge 2500 Cummins 6 speed...and it does say "Power Wagon" on the bed..but it's just not the same.Love those 1958 town wagons!
I so want that crew cab! Or one similar. But that 58 would be cool to travel the country in. Toss a mattress in the back some clothes and hit the road like a jypsy! Thanx for showing these beauties!
The Power Wagon was based on the old military T214 Dodge 3/4 ton truck. Originally Dodge hadn't considered it part of their lineup but massive demand from returning servicemen convinced them that there was a demand.
There were over the years of production, two dozen or so Power Wagon Crew Cabs similar to the custom one in the video. The trucks were ordered through Dodge who had a bodybuilder like Armbruster/Stageway do the conversion. Factory? No but, still an option.
If somebody wants to make me REALLY HAPPY for my 71st Birthday (now that I have to sell my "93" FLSTN Harley Davidson) THIS WOULD HELP ME TO STOP CRYING OVER LETTING MY BABY GO..... This guy did a fantastic job in restoring and modifying this iconic 4X4 DODGE POWER WAGON, IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL FOR SURE AND EXTREMELY WELL DONE AND LOOKS LIKE THE CREW CAB WAS FACTORY MADE BY DODGE......... (Am I Drooling ????? WOW) MOPAR RULES BABY.
. I think it was a 1962, 1964 - forest ranger slant six Dodge Power Wagon - I drove off a cliff, landed vertical on my front Lic. Plate. Just kept going, but my plate numbers were smashed smooth on my I beam bumper. As a bonus, the oil had all poured out of the air cleaner, I discovered later.
That is quite an optioned out 58' Town Wagon!! Power Steering on Power Wagons was offered from 57'-60'. Discontinued for the 61' model year, it wouldn't return for 4X4s until 1968!! The V8 was already a huge additional expense so, the inclusion of Power Steering made the price tag for this quite steep. You had to have the V8 to have Power Steering. Between the 4X4 option, the V-8 and the Power Steering, this was probably at LEAST 50% more added to the initial base price Town Wagon!
I’m in love with power wagons…what really sets that vintage period are those budd wheels. Two easy questions….what Is the budd hole spacing? And are budd centers hard to find with the cut outs ? My budds lack the cutouts and are 6 on 7 1/4 for the international travel all.
Very cool, my 78 crew cab isn't that nice, but I can still drive it every day. Even with military 37's and 354 rear end it doesn't like highway speeds much.
Oh my Lord, that green Crew Cab Power Wagon, as much as I Love the modern RAM trucks, if the FCA would build that old Power Wagon Crew, I’d have to trade my F150 to get one, what a Beautiful machine!
Mr. Burke [I hope that's correct, it's hard to hear your name] - I'm usually against modifications of old cars, but your Power Wagon is the exception that belies the rule. You are a very skilled man! When I look at your truck, I feel an uncomfortable little knot of envy that is as green as your truck! It's all good, though. You have my complete admiration! I do have a question, though. In the early 80's, I went four-wheeling in the California desert in a friend's 1954 Willys 4-door [I think they called them a "Wagon"]. Going downhill, I came to a sharp switchback. I had to do a 3-point. The cliff in front of me was at least 2,000' high. Of course I stalled the Willys on that 3-point! At that point, I discovered the Willys had vacuum brakes. The worst braking system ever devised. If the motor died for any reason, you got two pumps, then nothing. My question is, did the Power Wagons ever come with vacuum brakes?
I'm just shocked that no one has ever tried to reintroduce these trucks. Jeep did really well by bringing back the old school version. And Ford brought back the Bronco, and it did really well. This is one of those truck designs that could be a major success.
Absolutely love the Power Wagan , & The Carryall...Bring them back w/ modern-day comfort...lower the price a bit...they would sell....like hot cakes....
That's probably the best crew cab conversion I've ever seen
I don't speak English, tampilkan Desoto 1959 pick up
I'm sooooo glad he didn't have a Chevy engine in the quad cab.
Great looking truck. Excellent job!

kj inohio but it mustve been this guy, because crew cab was never done

I am wiping the drool off my shirt lusting after both of these Power Wagons. Both of these vehicles are beyond cool.
Thank you for posting this!
That red and white Power Wagon really brings back memories of days gone by. What a nice ride 😉👍

Both are amazing. Glad to see Dodge getting some love.
Wish I had the money and talent it took to bring these trucks back absolutely amazing !

Agreed; the red & cream color scheme looks awesome no mater what it's on. I bet it would even make a modern truck or sports car look classy
Both of them are wonderful! Can't pick a favorite... want them both.
What a great episode!
Dennis is very good at what he does I’ve seen him carry many interviews.
This episode though is great because both these gents are true enthusiasts much like Dennis.
Thank you very much to the whole crew!

Both of those rigs are 100% badass.....
Puts anything on the road today(or yesterday) to shame
Agreed

what i like about your show is people drive their cars. they dont just let them set and look pretty.
Nothing oozes cool like a old Dodge truck!
The fab work on the '55 is impressive. Great job on two awesome trucks!
Great episode and what great rides these two are.

Love that green truck
mjncad I was just thinking the same....
8 liter V10 from an old viper would be cool
Great job and hello from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Power Wagon looks cool , it's amazing how it was customized !
So cool. ...sure would love to own one of these.
It’s amazing. Both of these vehicles were originally completely utilitarian, and yet, still had more class, style, and personality than most modern vehicles.
Love that w100 and Excellent mods on power wagon crew cab wow!!!
Normally that town wagon woulda been very cool. But the job that guy did on the crew cab was incredible! I’m old enough to remember when dodge was selling power wagons, but I love everything about what he did with the pickup. So cool!!
Truck should be brought back to production
Ohh lucky you
It’s back
Great episode. 2 beautiful Power Wagons! Keep up the great content. Chuck in Kansas
Amazing trucks !! Just wonderful, really liked this video.
I restored a 59 Town Wagon in the mid-70's while in college and drove it from Nevada to Pennsylvania. Wish i still had it.
The red one is my dream truck!
Stunning creation.
these are real trucks....super cool....
Awesome pair of Trucks,..LOVE the 4-door mod.....Very Nice Job ....My first truck was a 59 D-100...plane-jane, bullet-proof....& 2-day Im still in a Dodge Ram.
Really nice article, Thank you.
Dad owned one. Many vacations and memories.
2 great looking trucks..
Impressive build. 👍
I'll tell you. If they could build a "today" version of the 1955 Power Wagon (looking just like that, but upgraded to today's standards, they'd sell a ton of them.
Emp proof and made in USA parts

Love Power Wagons ever since about 1964
I so want that crew cab! Or one similar. But that 58 would be cool to travel the country in. Toss a mattress in the back some clothes and hit the road like a jypsy! Thanx for showing these beauties!
Very nice... Thank you
Dennis I like those trucks as I am Dodge lover
Great Video! You rock.
I'd give the guy 20 bucks just to sit in the passenger sit while it's parked. really nice
That power wagon was also available with push-button automatic, same as other Chrysler cars.
Beautiful trucks, never seen one
Now those are trucks, 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Love love these trucks.
would've liked to see clips of the Power Wagon build. absolutely gorgeous. weird it only has 5 lugs
The Power Wagon was based on the old military T214 Dodge 3/4 ton truck. Originally Dodge hadn't considered it part of their lineup but massive demand from returning servicemen convinced them that there was a demand.
Sweet power wagon. Bet you'd survive in a crash with this bad boy
A nuclear blast!
I love power wagons that wer built from 1958-1967. Also I love the white rims they came with.
love both dodges!!1
Gladly have both in my shed !
Wonderful !!! The best TRUCK EVER And Forever
The 4 door is a thing of beauty, if they could only make them like this again.
That crewcab, best looking truck in the world.
This truck is a Hummer for 50s is awesome!

The NAPCO kits were used by General Motors; the Marmon -Herrigntons went to Ford.
i love the 55 power wagon
Very cool, my 78 crew cab isn't that nice, but I can still drive it every day. Even with military 37's and 354 rear end it doesn't like highway speeds much.
That W100 has some serious ground clearance! 10"+ maybe at the differentials?
Fantastic!!!!!!!
Man I miss my Power Wagon, 583 gears and all!
Drooling!
Oh my Lord, that green Crew Cab Power Wagon, as much as I Love the modern RAM trucks, if the FCA would build that old Power Wagon Crew, I’d have to trade my F150 to get one, what a Beautiful machine!
It's good when arms are from the shoulders) awesome
god i would love to have one of those
Seeing this video makes me miss my 2 1963 dodge D100's!!!
I had a 63 D200 and kick myself everyday for selling that beast. It was truly indestructible. Had a 1st gear that would climb a tree and was 2wd.
I only knew the military model. But they are both great. Here in the Netherlands we only know the military versions.
Nice!!

Michelin XZL 1100s I think, not cheap but can be retreaded. I have a 52 M37.
Why can't they make cars/ trucks like this anymore? Awesomeness.
I seen the opening red power wagon go thru Iowa on i80 late 2017 on a flatbed
Should have put a 12 valve cummins in it.
Now you're talking!
Aaaaawwwwwesome!!!
I'm just shocked that no one has ever tried to reintroduce these trucks. Jeep did really well by bringing back the old school version. And Ford brought back the Bronco, and it did really well. This is one of those truck designs that could be a major success.
Love'em both , but I'd put a modern 5 or 6 speed manual in the crew cab, cuz I ain't interested much if it ain't got a clutch !
Absolutely love the Power Wagan , & The Carryall...Bring them back w/ modern-day comfort...lower the price a bit...they would sell....like hot cakes....
Gotta love the town wagon/town panels. The owner is wrong though, they went through 66. Mine is a model year 66.
