Seriously, Anna one of your best and most informative videos ever! We learn so much from your experience and your style of teaching. Your client's manicure was beautiful, too. Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I've been using OPI Repair Mode for two months and my peeling nails are completely grown out and much stronger now. I also did oil after handwashing and weekly oil soaks. I can finally wear nail polish! Dazzle Dry for five days and two days off seems like the best option. Thanks again Anna, you have saved my nails! 🥰
Have you had issues with the dazzle dry base coat? Unfortunately I was only able to afford the trial size and nothing else, but I've heard people have used it as a base coat, and then applied other brand of polish over it and been fine. But the base coat seems to peel off like glue for me. 🧐
I bought the OPI REPAIR on the basis of watching your videos, watching the applications and seeing the product on the nails, sinking in. I received the product and was intrigued with its thin, watery consistency and its immediate ‘evaporation’? absorption? into the nail. I saw a difference in my nails within 1 day. My nails looked healthier, shinier and these improvements were built on, every day, until I reached the maintenance phase, from day 6. Thank you for introducing me to this product. It is so quick, simple and convenient to use yet the results are clear! Improved, healthier, stronger nails, effortlessly. The application is foolproof with absolutely no down time!! This is not a generic clear polish, marketed with a ‘strengthening’ spin. This is a genuine solution to problem nails. I love it. This will be a staple in my manicure regime going forward. Together with Nails Inc’s Gel Rehab my routine has been maximised, streamlined and improved. I feel I am only now - finally - applying the products that I’ve been sold/promised/marketed all these years!! I feel able to throw out all the many duds/fakes that I have bought over the years that have promised SOo much and delivered so little. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I also feel that it improved the nails but I know one person who didn't see improvement and after 1 week her nails looked worse. She wore "treatment" polish all the time which caused surface damage. Without polish after 3 weeks now you can see nice and healthy new growth that is undamaged. I believe after the damage grows out she will be able to get back to wearing polish, incorporating breaks, jojoba soaks and some kind of polish free treatment. I looked at the Gel Rehab and it looks like a standard nail polish formula plus some "marketing ingredients". It's like selling carrot cupcakes for their vitamine A content. God, I wish I could eat cupcakes instead of veggies. :)))
@@TheSalonLife I have (had) thin, peeling nails. I also thought my nails were worse after the first week and was thinking the negative reviews I read when going to purchase the OPI Repair Mode after hearing about it from you might be correct, but I decided to power through it. At about the 6 week point, I started to see my nails improving. I've now been using it for 3 months and my nails continue to improve. On one nail that has a large ridge, I can actually see about a 1/8" of nail grown out where the ridge is almost gone!
After being consistent with a nail care routine for a year, weekly oil soaks and going months without polish, I realized I just have an issue with the way the matrix produces the nail. Once my nails hit a peak in condition, they plateau and there’s no more improvement beyond a certain point, which isn’t dramatically better than the slightly damaged state. So I just decided to stop stressing about causing damage and wear polish as much as I want, within reason of course. I actually like that polish and wraps/stickers act as a “splint.” I get the rationale that says you shouldn’t need to use polish or other applications as a bandaid. But I feel like if I waited until my nails were in perfect condition, I would never use polish or need enhancements anyway.
Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge! I've always had thin, peeling nails. Since January I've been following your advice re: oiling, warm oil soaks, no buffing, Keresal ointment, gentle care, not cutting the PNF, and finally using OPI Repair Mode. The difference is astounding! I'm finally making noticeable progress with growing out healthy, natural nails. Just know that you are appreciated! Also, I'm in a reddit sub that quotes you almost religiously and it makes me smile every time someone mentions your UA-cam channel!
You are such a wealth of knowledge!!! I’ve been having issues with my nails peeling and just couldn’t figure out what the issue was because I only use lacquer. You’ve given me so many tips and insights as to what could be causing this issue!! So thank you 😊
I wish nail salons were based on your ideas i.e healthy nail treatments vs just filing without “love” and slapping on polish. Watching your videos I’m learning to be kind to my nails. Thank you ,I just need to figure out what products to get I get tempted to purchase all.🤔
You're right about 'trust the process'. One week in and my nails are looking worse. Not necessarily due to the product, but I'm so happy to have your videos which are encouraging me to keep going! Thanks Anna 🙏
I had the same issues as your client. My nails would just start peeling and each time I wore nail polish, even for just a few days, the peeling would get worse near edge of my nails. I was using polish to essentially harden my nails and stop them breaking or peeling. My nails weren't healthy. I would wear polish for a few days, then for the rest of the week, no polish and was doing oil soaks, and general maintenance with always using oil after washing my hands, moisturisers, etc. I tried using various 'repair' polishes and hardeners, but the situation got worse. So I stopped wearing polish and just kept with the oil soaks, and general oil application and moisturiser throughout the day. It kept peeling and each time I'd file my nails (I kept my nails short), it would peel and the nail would end up so short because it would all just peel away, that it would be at the nail bed. I watching this series with the OPI that you were doing with this client and I bought some OPI. I applied it twice a day and continued with the oil soaks with jojoba oil and ongoing use throughout the day. It has been 3 weeks now. After the first week, there was still peeling on a few of my nails, but nowhere as bad as before - which was happening to all my nails. I kept going with it twice a day for a second week and after a week, even those few nails that were still bad, improved as they grew. My nails were a bit harder and firmer (they were very soft before), and minimal peeling. I had initially thought I would do it for a week, possibly two and then go into maintenance mode of using OPI a few times a week. After three weeks, there is no visible peeling - before that, I would feel bits starting to peel on the surface of the nail and it would feel rough near my fingertips. Currently, only one thumb has that and that was the worst previously, but now it's right near the nail tip and nowhere near as bad as before.. I am letting the nails grow out slightly longer than usual, just a millimetre longer, before I file them down again. OPI has made a huge difference, where months of oil soaks, etc, wasn't enough. I still do oil soaks twice a week and still do ongoing maintenance to keep the skin around the nails soft and moisturised. I did notice that Kerasal dries out the skin around my nails quite badly, so now I only use it after doing those oil soaks at night, and then use a thick moisturiser before going to bed. I do that just to keep the skin slightly pushed back. But the OPI is great. I am now using it once a day (I put it on at night before going to bed) and in couple of weeks, I'll assess if I should switch it to a couple of times a week. I won't be using nail polish for a few months, not until my nails are completely healthy and not peeling at all. My nails now feel firmer, not hard, there is some give if I try to press on the tip where it bends slightly. Before when I did that, it would fold like paper, especially when my hands were wet. Now, it's fine and feels normal. So thank you for this series with this product! It was amazing and helped so much. I just wish we could get some of the products you show in your videos in Australia! Your videos are so informative and helpful! You literally saved my nails.
Anna you're nails are so healthy and beautiful and so you are proof that you can wear nail polish regularly with a maintenance routine of oil soaks and 1-2 days polish free. Although you wear clear nail polish, it is still nail polish with the same ingredients. I never used to believe that nail polish can cause surface damage but I realise now that when I had removed nail polish in the past that had been left on way too long, and saw slight damage on the nail plate, it was caused by nail polish. Thank you for your teachings! Your videos are so interesting!
I think I have finally figured out my nails thanks to this video and others you have done - thank you!! I love wearing regular nail polish but always had thin, peeling nails. For the past 2 months I have stopped wearing polish and have been using Onyx hard as hoof nail strengthening cream along with lots of oil and sure enough, my nails got worse before they got better but they have improved so much! The peeling has grown out and my nails are strong but flexible. Your maintenance routine will be key for me going forward, but I have to take the polish off as soon as it starts to chip, because I think it takes the top layer of my nail with it when it chips off. For me, this is in just 2-3 days. Hopefully with your tips I can still enjoy polish while keeping my nails healthy. Love the analogy to dessert, makes so much sense! I'm sending this video to my sister-in-law who is a nail tech.
I love your comment! And your experience is in line with my experience! I think you could get at least 4-5 days of polish wear if your nails are healthy and you are polishing correctly. Most of the brands really last nowadays If your nails are too flexible after all the damage has grown out you might wanna try a hardener. Sometimes the polish doesn't last because the nail is too flexible and has too much moisture. Also then too much moisture builds up and polish chips or peels. Thank you so much for forwarding my video :) That is the biggest compliment :))
I can honestly say this stuff works. I did exactly what she said, I did the hot oil treatments, I polished as Opi said, I filled and clipped as they grew as she said and it worked. I say it took maybe about a good 5 months to see my nails really healthy again and not peeling.
I watched your demo on The Manicurist Paris thinking I would order their gel to try and repair my nails. On their website they sell a Repair Kit but while serching I did see this product as well thinking I needed to repair the damage I have from years of over filing for gel. If the Repair Kit does not work I will be ordering this one. Thank you for your videos they are very helpful😀
The images at the beginning of this video looked like mine. I used Mavala, kept my nails clean of polish, kept them short, and jused ojoba oil. I learned this from you! Now my nails look amazing. I now rarely polish and if I do, I use dazzle dry or a simple quick dry clear if I am in a hurry.

@@TheSalonLife I have watched several of your videos. I ordered what you had said from Amazon now repair oils. I wanna know how long I should soak my nails in oil and for how many days.
took a 3 month break from gel and been using opi strength and length 7 days, which is in a nail varnish. The new nail growth is healthy... so just waiting for the damage to grow out...
This one is one of your best videos yet, Anna. Thank you! BTW, and completely off-topic, your hair looks amazing, you should show it off more often 😊😍💖
Hello Anna, thank you for this extremely in-depth video! I always preferred to have square nails but in the past the polish would chips on the corners, or even the nail itself on my thumb or index finger, while overall my nails seemed pretty healthy otherwise (I would never leave polish on for more than a week). So then I changed to oval nails for a while that did very well but decided to go back to square. Since doing your soaks for the last couple of months, I no longer have any polish chipping on the corners and my nails are so healthy! Thank you so much for teaching us how valuable the jojoba soaks are!!!
It took me 2 years to go back to normal toe nails after a trauma. And I never used polish even before the trauma cause I know I have weak nails. I use polish sometimes on my hands but never on my feet.
What a great nail journey for your client! Thank you for all the valuable information you share in this video. Always new things to learn. I like the two routines you share, maintenance and repair. I love that DD combo, so pretty. 💖
Anna your knowledge is invaluable. I have this problem with my toe nails mostly, and it always looked to me like the nail was severely dehydrated. Then I would have to stop and let my nails recover. If you get a chance, I would love to hear your thoughts on peel off bases. I have had some really good experiences with these on my finger nails under gel polish and my nails seemed a lot less damaged after removing the gel. Thank you for all the great info you give to us.
Such a beautiful and classy manicure. Thank you for explaining everything so well. Do you mind sharing what color polish you used? I love the pale pink.
I wonder if these repair products work primarily by tricking people into keeping polish off their nails for a few weeks? :) Would be interesting to see someone with peeling nails treat one hand only with a repair product, but keep polish off both hands and see if there is any difference between the two hands after 5+ weeks.
Very good point and a very good question. I feel like the surface of the nails does improve with the treatment. I tested in on myself and the nails feel better and less porous and my nails are healthy and undamaged. So it does something but no, it's not a miracle, nothing is. I would love to test what you suggested. I just need a model with peeling nails willing to do this routine :))
Anna, this was extremely helpful! When you cleaned the nails with the prep, does that take the OPI repair off? Or is the OPI already penetrated in the nail? Your videos are amazing . Keep them coming :)
Thank you so much for this information! My nails have been falling apart and I haven't been able to wear polish for over a month now, I'm so happy to have a solution to try. Regarding your question about how labs use acetone - it's mostly to clean lab equipment. I worked in a rad lab (using radioactive materials) and we needed to be able to decontaminate equipment and surfaces between uses. Since acetone is such a powerful solvent, it can pick up just about anything that may be contaminating bench surfaces, glassware, etc. Unfortunately the molecule is small enough it can penetrate most standard latex/nitrile gloves given enough time, so my nail polish got messed up pretty frequently :(
Yes, I was one of those who believed that nail polish kept my nails protected! Back when I wasa young girl my nails were hard and I changed my polish every few days but didn't know about keeping them oiled plus I smoked back then! Things are much difficult now, no smoking for many years now! No nicotine stains any more!
CND oil treatment a year since I heard you mentioning it..and my nails are so much better….twice a day I add it…and keep to minimal polish now. Thank you
But if we start with this treatment on damaged nails, there is always a healthy part that grows back over time. Without nail polish, there would still be a damaged part and a healthy part that grows back, and with nail polish too. So I believe that you can wear nail polish (in the pattern of 5 days with and 2 days without) and still end up with healthy nails if you use OPI Repair Mode.
In my experience not always or rather, rarely. With nail polish and nail care you are going step forward and step back. Nails remain the same, never regrowing the damage. If she wore polish, the polish would peel causing additional surface damage. It would pull the healthy part. The 5 on, 2 off is good for maintaining the health. Nail polish all the time with no breaks usually leads to surface damage.
i think of it like if you put paint on wood, and that paint chips, it always pulls some of the wood off with it- even if it is a small bit, the chipped paint "pulls" on the wood- same as nails.
Try Essie basecoats & topcoats! My nails haven't peeled, broken or chipped once in 11 days since I started using Essie "Here to Stay " basecoat! A couple of minor slight nicks in my nailplate, but my nails are rock 🪨 hard and not bendy! Even when polishes are removed, Essie basecoat stays on protecting my nails! I used Nailtek 2 and OPI Nail Envy and my nails split, chipped etc! NOT with Essie! Gel polishes used on my toes now, Essie basecoat, then gel basecoat! No chips or dings! 🇬🇧 Uk 4.4.24
I can confirm that this product provides these results! I have had peeling nails my entire life and at 51, I had accepted that this was something I just had to live with. I’ve been through 1.5 bottles of the OPI Repair Mode and it is amazing. I put on one layer every night when I’m not wearing polish. I am also trying to work warm oil soaks into my routine. I’ve learned so much from watching this channel and am so grateful bc I am so happy with my hands and nails now.
@37:33. OMG I have said the same thing to my nail technician and they would be quite skeptical 😂. Thanks so much for what you do. Ha indeed I will indulge in nail polish on vacation and special occasions but that's it 👍.
Such great information! You’ve inspired me to start this routine. I have more peeling on my dominant hand and it’s started to bug me lately so I’ll try this.
Polyvinyl butyral is the ingredient in nail polish that damages the nails. Using pvb free base coats will stop peeling and splitting for most people. I would love if you did a video about PVB because so many people are still using orly bonder or pvb base coats and ruining their nails.
Quite on the contrary. I find Polyvinal butyral more gentle and non yellowing (compare to nitrocellulose). Do you have any sources about PVB damaging nails? Other than opinions on reddit (I'm not being snarky, just that I have seen these already) I mean anything stuck to the nail can pick up the cells of the nail. This client wore Dior Nail Glow that does not have this ingredient and still got yellowing and peeling.
@@TheSalonLife the research I've done on pvb as an industrial bonding agent and how much stronger it is than a lot of people's natural keratin bonds, combined with the warnings it has in industrial use to avoid skin contact because of how drying it is (absorbs 10x the amount of water of similar bonding agents) which exacerbates dry nails and peeling. Also many indie and mainstream brands are now starting to reformulate their base coats to avoid this ingredient, or come out with another PVB free base coat (rocket fuel now has a PVB free version, for example). Obviously everyone has different nail chemistry, but it seems that people who naturally have oilier nail beds do great with pvb, while everyone I've spoken to (hundreds of people in FB groups and on Reddit) who have peeling nails said it stopped once they stopped using PVB base coats. Yes I realize that's anecdotal, but it is still a large enough number of people to convince me that there's definitely merit to it. Obviously the damage that already exists has to grow out, and as you said, trust the process, but the peeling usually stops once the PVB is no longer on the nails. Nitrocellulose is a different type of ingredient and not used for bonding to the natural nail, so it affects the nail differently. I will start researching nitrocellulose effects. I appreciate your reply, and consideration of PVB as a potentially damaging ingredient. Thank you kindly.
I think the damage is due to oxidation mostly and then due to the physical bond. I think it’s a combination of factors and yes of course the genetics and probably few other things. I think it’s like a perfect storm situation. Have you seen this blog post where I had a client wear polish only on 1 foot? Btw, it was Vinylux (doesn’t have this PVB) www.patreon.com/posts/pedicure-study-1-24347099
Hello very good video. My damaged nail is my ring finger split down the middle. It looks as if it is growing out but once I start to see a free edge it splits down ward and break off again, below the free edge painful, Thank You
I’m already sub but because my fingernails are in such bad shape I do not watch regularly so GLAD I SAW THIS TITLE today. I will be purchasing this product(s) and following your directions. Also learned you are in Spain - I would like to vacation there one day. I know 3 ladies who only push back their cuticles and file their fingernails so absolutely long, healthy nails. Thanks for sharing all this valuable info.
Absolutely loved watching this, learned so much. I would like to know the color of the nail polish and the silver glittery polish. I just ordered the OPI repair mode!
Anna… the efile is a lifesaver for me. I have such severe arthritis in my hands that I can’t do the motion of traditional filing. I bought a mild efile and the only problem is that I can’t change the bits without a locking mechanism. The one I purchased you just pull the bit out of the hand piece. Can you recommend a file please? Many thanks.
Golly, I hope it is not that long for me...I've been dealing with this issue, and I keep having to trim down my nails and go polish free for a week now. I thought things were doing well, and then I discovered a nail on the corner had chipped, so I had to cut down that nail to the nub! You are right, that wearing polish so much could be causing the damage, but I've been polish=free now, and it is still happening. I'm using cuticle oils and the OPI repair daily. Also, we are still in winter here and at an elevation, so maybe it's from the dryness.... I'm just trying to be patient here while I longingly look at all my nail polish bottles on the wall rack 😅
Also keeping my nails oiled as often as possible and it really does make a difference in weather my long nails snapped or just took the bend! I really do get your meanings and appreciate all your help and information. I still love learning something new all the time even at 66 years young! 😊 Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Ironically the acetone I've purchased is cosmetic grade 100% acetone to strip the stain off of wood when I was re-staining wood furniture and it's does a great job! 😂
I love this video so much. I learn so so so much. I’m on my nail grow journey and can’t express how much I learn by watching this video. Thank you for posting.
Hi Anna, thank you so much for your helpful advices! I got my OPI repair mode yesterday and I'm so excited if it will help. My nails are peeling due to wearing nail polish nearly permanently since a few years and wearing nitril gloves several hours a day (I'm working in a lab) . Every time I try to take care of my nails (oil soaks, nail treatment), they are peeling so extremely, that they get thinner every day until the nail plate hurts. Then I reapply nail polish to stabilize the nails. It's a vicious circle. I really hope that the OPI repair mode helps.
The tips of some of my nails are peeling too. I have found the jojoba oil very helpful, but it has been 3 weeks of slow but steady improvement. Still not where I want them so I will continue. I also just purchased the OPI repair mode and when I receive it I will do that too! Thank you for the advice with the jojoba oil though it really helps! Mine are a little brittle too. The oil is helping.
Excellent information Anna . showing in great detail over a period of time the treatment and progress of your clients nails . Thank you for these videos ❤
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on using OPI repair and how nail polish affects nails. I have started the repair process and I know that patience and trust in the process are important. I have a question: I see you often use Dazzle Dry and CND polish. When my nails improve, can you suggest an affordable alternative to Dazzle Dry? I plan to follow your advice by wearing nail polish less than twice a week, doing warm oil soaks, and taking breaks for a few days. As I move away from gel nails, I want to find affordable products available in the USA. Besides Dazzle Dry and OPI, do you have other recommendations for nail polish that can help keep my nails healthy?
Terrible idea. The first ingredient of the both paste and powder is an abrasive, that you rub into the nail with a buffer. Great way to remove the protective layers from the nails. It’s a big no from me :)
Thank you Anna! I have always suffered with peeling nails on and off and I tried the opi repair for a full week and felt they were looking a little worse afterwards so discontinued using it. I will give it another go now ☺️ also I cannot live without my 2 favourite things….nail polish and desserts ❤
I agree that you should go back to using it. Originally I did two weeks of OPI RM morning and night and then I used Dazzle Dry Polish for 7-10 days. Then I would remove my Polish, use the OPI for 4-5 days with a warm oil soak, and then go back to Polish for a week. Rinse and repeat😊 I have no peeling anymore for the first time in my life. I hope you get there too!
My nails are thin and peel constantly. I feel like I have to keep a protective polish on between treatments. When I try to have bare nails, the peeling parts snag on clothes, hair and blankets. This causes them to peel back farther causing paper thin nails. Bare nails seems impossible 😩.
Yeah, it's a catch 22. Polish covers damage and it damages the nails further like I mentioned. The polish also doesn't allow for any treatment that actually works (and the oil) to penetrate. They key is to find out why they are peeling and address that.
I have (or rather, used to have) exactly the same issue. Thin, very VERY peeling nails that snagged on things, etc. It's a pain in the rear but the only real solution I have found is to do what Anna recommends -- stop the polish and get some nail oil and put oil on your nails every.single.time you wash your hands and have pens in your purse, your car, on your nightstand, at your desk at work or in your pocket at work, etc. Apply oil like it's your second job. Then every week, (I picked a Sunday evening) warm up oil by putting a little oil in a tiny dish and placing that dish in another little dish that has HOT water in it, then soak the nails of each hand for like 20 minutes while you watch a show or something. After a couple of months, my nails actually got longer. (For me -- which just meant that I could see a bit of white on the tips finally and they weren't peeling AT ALL). Then I decided to polish them. I'm sorry to report, that even though I use Dazzle Dry, it absolutely took my nails backwards. And I only wore it for like 5 days or so. Everyone's nails are different and mine will NEVER be long and strong. I just know that by now. But with the soaks and nail oil pens, and only wearing polish for a couple of days at a time, they are far better than they've ever been. I bought the Bliss Kiss empty pens on Amazon and a bottle of organic jojoba oil and filled my own pens -- much cheaper than buying pre-filled pens. And I use that same jojoba oil for my soaks.
@@womanofacertainage5892omg this is the same story with me lol. I did Anna’s recommendation and wow my bare nails are amazing the best it’s ever looked. Have the bliss kiss oil pens filled with pure jojoba and have them everywhere it’s a game changer for sure. Makes me not want to polish them because of how healthy they look 😊
As a lifetime nailbiter I was talked into getting acrylics. For the first few weeks I was in Heaven with long nails I felt beautiful! Unfortunately I banged my thumb and it took most of it off bar about 2 mm. One side has lifted at the cuticle. Its so ugly and I feel so disappointed 3 weeks later although purchasing multiple creams and oils which I apply daily, its still the same😢 How long til I can have nice nails again?
Can you do a detailed video that contains everything you would recommend for the damaged nail routine? My nails are not too bad but wanting to make sure I do the oil soaks correctly with the oil/lotion after washing and nightly care...maybe if I can see like a week in the life of damaged nail routine it would help❤.
Hello :). Have you seen this video? You took off Acrylics, Gels or Dip nails and discovered DISASTER. What's next? ua-cam.com/video/rITW2ZMpll0/v-deo.html
@@TheSalonLife I had not seen this one... Thank you for sharing. I never would have watched it as I do not use gel, acrylics or dip. Thank you so much!!! You are amazing 🤩
Thanks Anna, I wish I had found you on YT before I wrecked my thin nails wearing wraps for the first time. My fault was to peel them off and not use the acetone and clips I had bought. I am now going to follow your regime and hope I can get my nails back in shape. What do you think about nail wraps versus polish? Thanks Jo in France near Perpignan 🇫🇷
Thank you . I have learned so much, such as I have been trying to push the cuticle back all the way under the live skin! 1. I'm confused...you recommend 1 coat but you have applied 3 coats in this video. 2. What causes my nails to have ridges? 3. It is difficult to tell, when applying the polish are you polishing underneath with that swipe ? 4. How does the oil penetrate 3 coats on the nail?
Thank you so much for another great informative video🙏😊 I'm learning so much from you Anna💯 Keep up the awesome work you're doing for your clients and us😁❤
This is so so amazing, fantastic video Anna, loved seeing the progress with this client! Honestly? I followed along with OPI Repair Mode, was patient, and my nails finally look amazing! Thank you! My Mom is using it now and loving it. I do have a question - my Mom doesn’t want to use nail polish, she asked if she can continue the Repair Mode for maintenance? If so, how frequently? Her nails are starting to recover and look great too! THANK YOU for all you do for us!!
Yay! So happy for you! Patience and gentle care pay off!! Yes of course she doesn't have to use nail polish. Yes she can use Repair Mode for maintenance, they recommend once a day. I would also use oil after each hand wash and only gentle hand cleanser like this one: Uriage Xemose Cleansing Soothing Oil | Face & Body Daily Cleanser amzn.to/3wcJ3ew (link affliate)
Nice video! Hopefully you can do another followup in a few months to learn if continued use will prevent a recurrence - long term. I can get my nails very healthy with eliminating polish, keeping them filed down, and using Cerave ointment with ceramides. They look gorgeous for a few months. But the first time I use polish, they start to split again. I'd love to know if a product can prevent this.
I totally agree with you. I have been doing nails 42 yrs. I find working in a spa I can’t get woman to even take their own polish off let alone do soaks and put on treatments. I am always telling them on their feet to try to put on ointment on their feet and cotton socks for a few hrs to soften their dry heals but they say they will but most say they just forget or lazy. They ask all the time what they can put on to make their nails healthier so they don’t peel etc but they want a magic strengthen base coat which is only goi g to make it worse cause most have formaldehyde to strengthen. There are so base coats that have healthier like ingredients but putting polish on top soaks into base coat. Most clients are not going to wear no polish and do treatments and still come in and pay for manicures for maintenance at least here in US maybe where you live. Thanks for all your knowledge I alway am always still learning. Judy
I feel you. I think there are 2 types of people. Some take care of their own skin and nails. Some expect others to do it for them. OK; maybe there is a 3rd group that is not interested in skin/nail care at all. But I noticed that people who go to salons usually don't do any maintenance at home.
@thesalonlife Anna great video! Three questions - I've looked through several vids but I can't tell how long to do a warm oil soak? Also, if I'm doing the repair routine, am I doing the repair mode 2x/day, every day for several weeks? Or only 6 days? Just worried because instructions say six days? Are there any risks to using it every day for several weeks? Last question, do I have to wait 10 minutes after repair mode to do oil? Okay I'm going to go look for your PayPal info now because my also overanalyzing and overthinking brain just killed you with questions! PS... I believe you mentioned an article on acetone but I'm not seeing it linked? I would love it if you could include it in your next vid! (Unless of course I misunderstood). Thank you for all you do for us! I love that you are so detailed and based on science... And always expanding your own knowledge base for your clients ❤
I have been appreciating your channel a lot lately! Could you cover the manucurist “green flash” line? The removal is supposed to be easier- so less stress on the nail? Would love your opinion.
I have 5 videos about Manucurist. The removal is not the only "stress". The wear can cause damage too. Just like any other gel polish or even nail polish. Here is a playlist about Green Flash ua-cam.com/play/PLnP7qaKYlbX7MfdrnfNh3gquZ0k5Gdng2.html
I am doing step by step things for my nails since i stopped doing ayrlic nails doing hot oils it take patience but they are.growing healthier tks Anna watching evrey video very nice woman from Malta ❤❤❤
Well done! You both went the distance. I’m in the middle of repair myself and am following all of your advice and I can see already that when my nails are grown out they will look 100% better. I even stopped cutting the nail Fold. I have found, at least for me, that rather than the kerasal, Sally Hansens cuticle massage cream works better. I feel like it stays on longer than the kerasal. I’ve been using the repair mode twice a day and the jojoba oil many, many times during the day. Your nails and hands are beautiful. When I’m all fixed up, I too will use clear coat only. What do you use? Again thank you, Anna! Congratulations to you both and Thank You for sharing! ❤
Anna, thanks for your videos..they are so informative! In several videos you mention warm oil soaks. Is there a video that shares the recommended details - what kind of oil, how long to soak, how long to wait before polishing? Thanks!
Hello Stacy, here is the link to the video: Warm jojoba wax soaks ua-cam.com/video/io335eWf6R4/v-deo.html More info in the description box for that video :)
Seriously, Anna one of your best and most informative videos ever! We learn so much from your experience and your style of teaching. Your client's manicure was beautiful, too. Thank you!
Thank you kindly Diane!
I need a shirt that says “life would be really sad without nail polish and deserts.”
OMG, I love it!!
You are the best teacher in this world..❤ I don’t think we can Thank you enough for such precise work and knowledge❣️💅🏻
Thank you Lucie ❤️
Can you mention the name of the subreddit
When you mention alcohol what exactly is it please it ,
This woman really knows her stuff. I wish MDs could take a page from her playbook.
You are such a wealth of knowledge!!! I’ve been having issues with my nails peeling and just couldn’t figure out what the issue was because I only use lacquer. You’ve given me so many tips and insights as to what could be causing this issue!! So thank you 😊
Great video and so satisfying for the client to have her nails in great condition.
Most of the brands really last nowadays
If your nails are too flexible after all the damage has grown out you might wanna try a hardener. Sometimes the polish doesn't last because the nail is too flexible and has too much moisture. Also then too much moisture builds up and polish chips or peels.
Thank you so much for forwarding my video :) That is the biggest compliment :))
I would also suggest Dazzle Dry Polish - it’s worked wonders for my peeling nails
I can honestly say this stuff works. I did exactly what she said, I did the hot oil treatments, I polished as Opi said, I filled and clipped as they grew as she said and it worked. I say it took maybe about a good 5 months to see my nails really healthy again and not peeling.
Happy for this lady bringing her nails back to life and looking great!

Ive been using those for months. It works!
Thanks for re-uploading this video, including painting the nails! So nice to see the full treatment and the shine on the end!✨💅🏻
I am purchasing this ASAP! These are the issues I deal with. Thank you so much! I'm glad you provided a link. :)
Wonderful video Anna, thank you. So much info, I love the way you explain. Her nails look lovely.
CND oil treatment a year since I heard you mentioning it..and my nails are so much better….twice a day I add it…and keep to minimal polish now.
Thank you
Always informative
35:07 we usually use it to rinse out/clean glass
It's an amazing solvent, and evaporates quickly 🎉
I have used the repair moad it was very good my nail were terrible but done what you advised and they are Lovely now thank you ❤❤
Thanks!
Thank you so much Cori ❤️❤️
Polyvinyl butyral is the ingredient in nail polish that damages the nails. Using pvb free base coats will stop peeling and splitting for most people. I would love if you did a video about PVB because so many people are still using orly bonder or pvb base coats and ruining their nails.
Quite on the contrary. I find Polyvinal butyral more gentle and non yellowing (compare to nitrocellulose).
Do you have any sources about PVB damaging nails? Other than opinions on reddit (I'm not being snarky, just that I have seen these already)
I mean anything stuck to the nail can pick up the cells of the nail.
Btw, it was Vinylux (doesn’t have this PVB)

Hello very good video. My damaged nail is my ring finger split down the middle. It looks as if it is growing out but once I start to see a free edge it splits down ward and break off again, below the free edge painful, Thank You
Thank you, Anna. I am following your advice and right behind your client in my progress!
Can nail ridges go away by conditioning them with oils and nail cream?
Hi there. Your videos have been so helpful. Thanks for making them.
What clear polish brands do you use on your own nails? I love that look.
Hi Shannon! I use Catrice. Check out this video, I explain more why

Thoughts on the Kerasal nail treatment?
Absolutely loved watching this, learned so much. I would like to know the color of the nail polish and the silver glittery polish. I just ordered the OPI repair mode!
I just bought this stuff lol. I need my natural nails back
I would change out my Dazzle Dry every 4 days. It still gave me the weird peeling. I know many, many others who have had this same experience.
Yes i believe you. Nail polish can cause that.
Such a great, informative, educational video. Her nails look so much healthier.
Thank you for posting.
awesome results...i didn't think it would work but you had patience
I have lots of patience :)) Cudos to the client for her patience :)))
Such a great video. ❤
Thank you!!🤗
Excellent information Anna . showing in great detail over a period of time the treatment and progress of your clients nails .
Anna, i would love your take on the Japanese conditioning system by p. Shine😊
Terrible idea. The first ingredient of the both paste and powder is an abrasive, that you rub into the nail with a buffer. Great way to remove the protective layers from the nails. It’s a big no from me :)
Fabulous video! Thanks love seeing the progress of the OPI repair, her nails look great!
Thank you Anna! I have always suffered with peeling nails on and off and I tried the opi repair for a full week and felt they were looking a little worse afterwards so discontinued using it. I will give it another go now ☺️ also I cannot live without my 2 favourite things….nail polish and desserts ❤
Yes, I think the nails can look worse before they get better. Please share your experience!
Thank you so much. I will try it again and see how it goes 😊

Hi! Great video, thank you. Do you think that OPI repair is comparable to CND Rescue Rxx?
Thank you :)) I prefer OPI Repair Mode :)
But Anna what if I like to keep Nail polish on all the time? What do you think of the Gitti brand??
What sort of alcohol do you use?
can you review and talk about Manucurist LED polish? it looks so gentle to take off compared to gel or regular polish
I have on my channel. Please search "Manucurist"

Its so ugly and I feel so disappointed
3 weeks later although purchasing multiple creams and oils which I apply daily, its still the same😢
How long til I can have nice nails again?
I'm a swimmer. How do you keep water damage to a minimum? I'm a new subscriber.

@@TheSalonLife I had not seen this one... Thank you for sharing. I never would have watched it as I do not use gel, acrylics or dip. Thank you so much!!! You are amazing 🤩
Thanks Anna, I wish I had found you on YT before I wrecked my thin nails wearing wraps for the first time. My fault was to peel them off and not use the acetone and clips I had bought. I am now going to follow your regime and hope I can get my nails back in shape. What do you think about nail wraps versus polish? Thanks Jo in France near Perpignan 🇫🇷
Anna, so beautiful ❤. Thank you for sharing, love ur videos. Best one yet.
Thank you so much Ginny!!🤗
What do you think about Dashing Diva nail strips (used according to instructions)?
Can you talk about use of sunscreen on hands / nails?
Hello, in which context?
Thank you so much for another great informative video🙏😊 I'm learning so much from you Anna💯 Keep up the awesome work you're doing for your clients and us😁❤
I have OPI REPAIR MODE on subscription on Amazon…….it will be part of my nail care routine FOREVER! (As needed). 💅🏻 It definitely works!
Should the OPI treatment still be used twice per day for a longer period or just once?
Anna, when do you use CND and when OPI repair???
I would also use oil after each hand wash and only gentle hand cleanser like this one:

Hello! I’ve been watching your channel for a while now. It’s kind of off topic but do you have a skincare regimen? Your skin looks really healthy.
What happens if you do more than two coats a day?
Anna, is it ok to use Blue Cross to remove cuticle when you have bad peeling nails?
I love this product!!! 🎉
Three questions -
I've looked through several vids but I can't tell how long to do a warm oil soak?
I do like castor oil for the nail fold/cuticle area. It seems to absorb quickly for me. Hope I’m not doing something damaging to my nails.
Here is a playlist about Green Flash

I am doing step by step things for my nails since i stopped doing ayrlic nails doing hot oils it take patience but they are.growing healthier tks Anna watching evrey video very nice woman from Malta ❤❤❤
Thank you so much Carmen!! Have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/rITW2ZMpll0/v-deo.html Have patience :))
Well done! You both went the distance. I’m in the middle of repair myself and am following all of your advice and I can see already that when my nails are grown out they will look 100% better. I even stopped cutting the nail
Fold.
Would this be the same for using gel on nails? Thank you!
Anna, thanks for your videos..they are so informative! In several videos you mention warm oil soaks. Is there a video that shares the recommended details - what kind of oil, how long to soak, how long to wait before polishing? Thanks!
