Putting 40" Tires on my Jeep!

- Installing some new Yokohama 40x13.5r17 tires on my Jeep Wrangler! These are the Geolandar XMT G005 tires. For those wondering about my setup, i am running the following:
Prorock 44 front axle with 5.13 gears, RCV shafts, and ARB locker,
Rear Rubi 44, Trussed, Ten Factory Chomoly shafts, 5.13 Gears
PSC steering box with a AGR rock ram
Cant wait to hit the trails with these tires and get some great footage.

JK Gear and Gadgets I just watched it it seems like they would be good for a Daily Driver/weekend warrior hopefully I can get 40k out of them when I order them also do they balance well with a Bead balance?
gavin frost honestly I would just balance them traditionally, beads are sometimes a hit or miss

It’s nice to see the more things change, the more they stay the same. I grew on a ranch in the Guadalupe mountain range in southern NM. 148 miles round trip drive to school. Dirt roads, washed out canyons, mud and snow were part of my daily drive. Started with 36x14.5’s (Grand Prix) then 40x16.5’a and finally 44x18.5’s Hawgs. It’s addictive. My friends and I had so much fun. Looks like you do too. I found that 36’s were the best overall size. However the 40’s were better in deep snow and deep mud. 44’s were just too big for my engine and axles. Worst part was driving the 148 miles to high school required earplugs to overcome the noise back then. Your videos are great. Thank you. Keep up the good work. If your wondering where I lived. Google earth 69 Mountain top ranch road. It’s near Piñon NM. I drove to Artesian NM for High-school. It’s hard to tell but the dirt roads back then were just very basic cuts accords the terrain. (Earlyb1980’s. We had 5 miles of dirt road before we got to the highway. I think we crossed 5 canyons that often washes out. My truck was capable of crossing all but the most severe wash out. My dad and other ranchers just had to wait until the county brought in a dozer or grader to reshape.

I was extremely happy with my G003s! So far these XMTs have blown be away in every single way. They are insane offroad
Im leaning towards getting the XMTs this spring! How's the on road noise level? The only Mud terrains I've had are BFG KM2s, I would get another set of them when I move up to 37s, but I want something that measures more true to size. Thanks, Tim
tboyles10 I will be doing a full review soon. But as for road noise, they are extremely quiet for how aggressive they are. But remember they are still a Mt. I would say they are actually quieter than 80% of mud tires on the market. These tires are pricey, but they have blown me away Offroad, they grab everything!!!

Oh my goodness, new sub here, I was silly enough to have my wife in here watching this with me, so I need a new plan of attack on the purchase, I have a stock jeep now and hoping to get 35" soon, falls winter, but she isn't going to buy the crossfire since she watched this video with me, so we need to come up with something else. hehehehe.

hehehe, yes sir, she has a 4 wheeler on our little off grid cabin location, it is another channel we have, so I wont bore you with it. But she does love the back roads for sure and we have done a lot of easy trails so far, waiting for some upgrade before we try to get ourselves stuck way out by ourselves. If you lay a long flat bar on the ground then roll your tire to the Jeep and have the bottom angled in slightly then lift the pry bar you can install tires with ease and no strain. Just a thought.

How has the rear Dana 44 held up? I’ve got a pro rock 60 semi float rear axle along with a PR44 front axle (5. Rear I’d) waiting to be installed, not sure what size tire I wanna go with. The 40’s aren’t THAT much more money I’m just nervous about the whole semi float thing. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hey man! been a subscriber since i got my jeep 2 years ago. I know this post is pretty old. But if you please answer this, it would mean a lot to me. So i purchased a 40 inch tire, but when i installed it, it has a significant rubbing. I'm running 4.5 lift, falcon adjustable shocks, Short Adjustable control arms, and my wheels has 0 Offset, but i do have 2" of wheel spacer . So i ended up not installing it because it rubs a lot. Do you think i'd be fine if i get a new set of wheels with at least 3.5" backspacing? or do i need more than that? Do i need LONG ARMS for this to work as well or will the SHORT ADJUSTABLE CONTROL ARMS be enough for 40s?
What size lift do you have? ..how wide are the new tires? What wheel off set and width? ..im total amazed at how much better it looks
4.5” loft, new tires are 40x13.5r17 and wheels are 3.75” backspacing and 8.5” wide
already planned to add those, except 35.

How do you go about adjusting your speedometer with bigger tires?
I use the aev procal, but there are quiet a few other options that will work, rough country makes one and so does superchips
Hey man, liked the video! I have an F150 with 9" of lift,(not a Jeepy, sorry!) and I'm running a 38 Yoko Geolandar MT Plus (which has been discontinued). What do you think about the new Yoko tires?? Worth the money? Gotten almost 40k out of the Plus this go round.

4.5” mix of parts. Metalcloak springs, bilsteins shocks, Rubicon express control arms (they suck balls), JKS trackbars, and Metalcloak front drop brackets.

I wanna know how those new x-mt do cause I been looking at them since they been announced and also you can run 40s on Dana 44 cause I’m running a jk 30 in the front And 44 in the rear and the rear broke and I’m on 40s and and stick shift
What did you break?
The spider gears but we were in a bind and the the axle just locked up and shadered the spider gears and the ring and pinion but still running he 30 front and just replaced the gears and upgraded the ring and pinion now it does great
What size lift are you runnin? Those new tires match it pretty well.
4.5” and yep it seems to be a great match. Still need to flex it out and check clearances

That would work well. Add a rear truss and front C gussets as well

What is your lift height? I’m a bit unsure on mine. But my current set is 33.4/ 12.8/18 with quite a bit of clearance. I want more meat under to well. What is your recommendation with say a 2-4 inch lift?

I liked them, they worked well but you could tell they were a cheaper tire. They worked good but left a little to be desired

I’ve only put a little under 10K on them. So far tread life is looking good!
