I literally laughed out loud when you said "well! we're committed to these so that comes off" pointing at the rocker panel. HILARIOUS! Love your dedication. Just purchased a '10 wrangler (4 door) so trying to get some pointers on modifying. *subscribed*
" I grossly underestimated this job.. " Couldn't tell you how many times my wife has heard that line when i spend nine hours in the garage on her day off working on the jeep lol
I just bought my own first Jeep, and a set of tires from a Rubicon that I just put on, taking street tires, 31 inchers off, and 33 incher all terrain on. I expect to do quite a bit to it in the next year, just watching to see what is possible, those 37's look great and I admire your attitude. I've built custom motorcycles for fifty years and custom cars and trucks, doing the welding and metal fabrication in concert with others, doing wiring and mechanical work so watching this was a treat. Thanks, enjoy!
Makes me think the opposite. Feel like 35s are the sweet spot. No modifications to the body, cheaper, less strain and wear and tear on the gears and transmission, can even use my Rubicon wheels, etc.
28 pounds is a huge difference when we’re talking about unsprung rolling weight. Not the same as just adding 100lbs in the passenger seat. Not insinuating that’s what you think
I am in the process of doing this same thing to my 2016 Rubicon Unlimited. I bought the Metalcloak overline fenders and a teraflex 1.5" leveling kit with 37" Nitto trail grapplers. I will be doing the installation directly following Christmas. Thanks for the good videos!
I'm with u brother...you are not alone Just bought my wrangler unlimited jk with came with 33's but all I can think about is k=getting bigger tires on there without having to spend 4-6k on a lift and install plus the $1500 + for the tires. Thanks for the inspiration and confirming it's ok to do it however we want too
the vehicle is way more capable with 33" tires, period. You get way more unsprung weight which is equal to a 4x load. Most are about 30lbs swap, so 4 of those is 120lbs, which is the same as too fat people riding in the back (480lbs). It is REALLY DUMB except for the looks, which is why this wussy did it
I had this neighbor when I was a kid that was really smart but not too bright when it came to everyday things. He was very rich and drove a very nice car but you would watch him every Saturday morning try to cut the grass with a sweeper or perhaps with the push lawn mower without starting it. Every once in a while he would lay out elaborate decorations for every holiday is back yard even though it was not even close to being that holiday, and the only people who could see them were his backyard neighbors. He was very smart though, he build test planes for N.A.S.A. in his youth and in his elder years built us kids planes made out of straws and paper and glue. You remind me of him you crazy bastard.
You really got me with this one... read the whole thing wondering how bad this might get and then got a genuine laugh out loud at the end! Thanks so much for watching and giving me a bit of entertainment!
I have to say that my absolute favorite part of the video was when you said, "I grossly underestimated this job." To hear my wife tell it, I actually need a shirt with that printed on the back... What a fun video and great production value!
Bro. Great video man. Easy to understand and comprehend for people who even want to know about Jeep stuff. And thank you for your time. This video took a long time.
I did the same as you, and stuffed 35" tires under my JKU Rubicon with no lift. I had to cut the stock rocker panels, hammer the pinch seams, run spacers and aftermarket fender flares. It has since then been lifted but I think it was a good way to build it.
This was a highly enjoyable video. I'm in a restaurant having lemon sour cream pie watching this on my guys phone. I bet I'm the only girl in this place watching a jeep build video 😎👌🇺🇸 I love those 37s, had no idea they weigh in at 100lbs each! I'll most roll on 35s this year. One step at a time. Now to find the rest of your build *subbed* Great job so far! 🐾🐺 love your pup, he's a big help ☺
+JEEPARMY USA Thanks a bunch! I went back and forth for a while on whether to do that upgrade right away and what ratio. Glad to hear the 4.88 is a good way to go...I have soooooo much to learn!
good work on that. I'm not sure if I'd recommend anti seize on lug nut studs. should maybe not ever put any sort of oil or anti seize unless it's truly rusted. lugs will work there way loose w lubricants
doing the same thing on my jeep! pretty stoked to see they fit on stock. I have a friend who recommended just getting the 2.5"metalcloak springs to give the lift you need to give you a cheap boost up.
Great video! Way to commit to those 37s 😃. I loved the ending... Up next....lol. Should have been at least a 3-4" lift. Look forward to seeing what comes next. Good luck
Thanks for the Jeep video, keep them coming! Here comes the "but". Putting anti-seize on lug studs seems like a good idea, but it actually reduces the clamping force when the lug nut is torqued to spec. Sounds crazy, but it's true.
Because most don't take them off road. If they did, the 37's would hit and rip the flares off, and the jeep would have zero articulation. Not to mention the short lifespan of the dana 30 and drivetrain.
This reminded me of a $400 1980 bronco I got with no lift and 35's when I was young. Lots of fun, but lots of rubbing. At least you have plans for gears and a lift.
I asked the same question to someone working for Mopar or Jeep at the booth at king of the hammers event, he said "the lawyers do not want over 32 inch tires." Figures.
Why wouldn't you use the original lug nuts on the inside of the spacer and then the new lug nuts on the outside of the spacer? Since that's the thread each were originally on.
+autoedit Yes, the steelies weren't light by any stretch of the meaning, but still. I wanted them mainly because they had the offset needed to not need spacers. In retrospect, spacers would still be lighter haha.
I know this is an older video, but I’m curious about the tire sizes, both the one you took off and the one you out on. I have a 2014 rubicon, I like the wheels and trying to see what size tires I can put on there (especially width). Thanks!
@@robgovea11 I think I’ve heard people say it could be done, but it seemed like to big of a stretch to me. Especially if you plan to air down for offroad. I needed the 3.5 backspacing for the lift and didn’t want to run spacers, so I’m very happy with the direction I went. Buy once, cry once cry once is definitely true with Jeep upgrades.
+autoedit figured it out after watching all of your videos! Can't wait to get one like it or similar!! On a tight budget because I'm a college student lol
+autoedit In that trim you had no flex. I do as well have metalcloak front fenders that do add clearence and I use every but of it and my rear body rubs barely but only at full full flex which is rare that anytrail can get that from me.
Love it man don't listen to all these negative comments you have to start somewhere and at least you have some nice tires. I wish I had a set of those bad boys. Happy jeepin brother
This is the first video I've watch and love it! Great quality production and you have an awesome personality! Looking forward to seeing your future Jeep videos! Maybe we can collaborate in the future! Also what do you use to capture the side of the Jeep while driving? Gopro and suction mount? #jeepwave
if you change the fenders to the smaller ones like the smitty bulit ones it will help. i put 35 tires on my JK with 2 and a half inch leveling kit. did 2 and a half in the front and 1 in the rear. looks good and plenty of wheel space and clearance
+m00nraker4545 HAHA! Thanks so much for the compliment but after working with that guy for a while now... you realize there is soooo much knowledge and talent behind that calm on camera thing he has. I have neither of those...LOL! But thanks again...the thought is pretty awesome!
why would you damage and cut up your Jeep for something stupid like this? if you know you were going to cut it up, why not quit and get the suspension?
Easy, I knew the cuts and modifications I was making would still help gain maximum suspension articulation even when the lift kit was installed. Check back in a few weeks and I'll show you... I have a 3.5 inch kit coming.
First of all... Well done on your cameras, mics, camera positioning & editing! Also, I enjoyed the subject & experiment. Thanks for such a good video. I look forward to more.
+Jamie Fialkowski Hey Thanks so much for the encouraging words! I got slammed with work the last couple of weeks but did get fenders for it and will try to get that done next weekend...and then back to the dirt!
fuck that !!! all that work just to see what 37's look like ...... one step at a time man.gear ratios , rubbing ect, recalibrating for gas milage ect....ugh ....fuck that
Yes, there is always concern. Those parts will wear out faster because of the extra load so I go in to this know I'll replace everything with stronger components.
fantastic job, love watching your videos, first time jeep owner. ordered my jeep rubicon recon a couple weeks ago. I ordered the two door and not the four door. i hope i made the right choice. i have nobody to ride in the back any more.
I'm impressed by all the skills you have: I'm one of those artistic types where my masculinity is defined by my good salary which allows me to pay someone to do what you can do on your own( chuckle). You did a great job
tonepaw I have no money, and no ability. I have skill. I'm just disabled, so can't do things on my own. It works out though because I'm too poor to get it done, or buy stuff to do it myself. Yay me! So I live vicariously through UA-cam.
Jason I hope you trussed or sleeved and gusseted that front axle along with upgrading the axle shafts. Just looking out for you, a new axle is an expensive proposition.
When u added the 37s did you re-gear at all? And how was the ride with them. I've had 35 ever since I got my jeep and I'm really wanting to switch. Just not sure if it's worth it and if I can achieve a good ride without re-gearing
Yes I re-geared to 4.88 which is perfect for 37's and the recommendation is 4.56 for 35's. If you go larger without re-gearing, the jeep will feel slightly sluggish under acceleration but from 35 to 37 wouldn't be terrible. Ride quality has most to do with air pressure and shocks/springs. Many people over inflate tires for street use. I run 28psi cold on my BFG KM3's and it rides fantastic.
I got 40s on my Tacoma 2017 has 78.88 gears and a 5.0 coyote motor with a 6 speed transmission manual thing sounds mean staight with stacks has twin turbos and a supercharger and a pro charger has front wheel drive
Awesome video thanks for the visual. It's a pain in the ass to get any info from forums when you ask a question and everyone replies with short answers...thanks again, subscribing!
+rogerst23 It's awesome to hear from someone like you and Welcome! I was hoping to share just an average dudes experience with this stuff and how to deal with the challenges.
+Michael Weaver There's been a lot of debate on this... I find it interesting. A factory engineer has told me that the torque rating for this is measured at the mating surface of the lug bolt and the wheel, not the threads.
I drove it this way for a while. Take a look through this playlist to see how it progressed up to current day ua-cam.com/play/PL_oEM8z39tKA42LI4tG8oTVfKFkVBHhQa.html
Fun video. Can you speak to the differences in how it drove with the 37"s vs stock? I previously owned a 2010 4 door with 35's, and it drove horribly on the road. Probably had more to do with the 4" lift, but I'd like to hear how yours was with the stock suspension. Thanks
I literally laughed out loud when you said "well! we're committed to these so that comes off" pointing at the rocker panel. HILARIOUS! Love your dedication. Just purchased a '10 wrangler (4 door) so trying to get some pointers on modifying. *subscribed*
Do you think a 2 inch lift would make it possible without cutting the frame?
" I grossly underestimated this job.. " Couldn't tell you how many times my wife has heard that line when i spend nine hours in the garage on her day off working on the jeep lol

This 8s one of those classic UA-cam videos that you come back to for the helpful tutorial and education aspect as well as the humor. Good stuff.
I really appreciate this comment so much!!! ❤
yep, always brings a smile to my face
Holy crappers.... I thought this sort of stuff only happens to me...lol....a five-minute job turns into something epic, love your work.
Thanks!
It's a damn shame the Jeep website doesn't have the option to get bigger tires. Glad you made this video.
Thanks!!!!
I’m always thankful for everyone of your videos and that you actually do it as anyone else who isn’t rich would! Perfect man.
Thanks so much!
great video. I was actually impressed that each tire was only 28lb more. Makes me think I might change my 35's to 37's when they wear out.
Makes me think the opposite. Feel like 35s are the sweet spot. No modifications to the body, cheaper, less strain and wear and tear on the gears and transmission, can even use my Rubicon wheels, etc.

You do the best job for a back yard custom builder, you take the time and patience to do it right :-)
Great video, different from others. Very interesting stages of preparation.Great dog participation and the mandatory Beer Run!Pleasure to watch.
That is a really nice comment and appreciated so much! I'm thankful for friends like you here on the you tube!
Jeep Wrangler and classic Mustang, you got good taste.
Why thank you!
Can I have your rims and tires?
Only if it’s a fastback. :)

I'll never get "tire"d of watching this series. ;) Can't wait for the next installment!
+socksandtea Well all right!!! I hope to get another one done soon...thanks for watching and saying hey!

Nice video, however I would suggest never putting anti seize on lugs or studs, it will affect your torque you put on the wheels.
I have to say that my absolute favorite part of the video was when you said, "I grossly underestimated this job." To hear my wife tell it, I actually need a shirt with that printed on the back... What a fun video and great production value!

That dog is amazing.
You can tell a lot about a person by the way his/her dog behaves.
Bro. Great video man. Easy to understand and comprehend for people who even want to know about Jeep stuff. And thank you for your time. This video took a long time.
Thanks so much for appreciating the work that goes into this!
"that got way bigger than I thought it was going to get" haha. that's what she said.
LOL!
You are one hell of a mechanic, love the Jeep, keep it up brother
Thanks very much! I'll try!
this is a surprisingly high quality video for such a "small" channel. keep it up
+MrJewripper Much appreciated! I'm just doing my thing and am thankful a couple people on the you tubes enjoy it!

Jeep that rubs like a stanced civic LOL. Great video :)

Thanks so much! I'm so happy to have you here!
looks cool for sure i like, but man I just don't approve of the spacers they definitly do damage
In short, buy the tires you dream of having & build the jeep around it!! 😮😂😂 Thank you so much for the comic relief
Glad you enjoyed it!
4.88s will definitely get that power back with those big meats. Great video!

Agreed - the anti seize can be put on the mounting face, if you don't want it to stick to the hub/spacer, but not on the threads.
Great video and amazing looking rubber!
Nice to see you here, I follow you in Instagram!
doing the same thing on my jeep! pretty stoked to see they fit on stock. I have a friend who recommended just getting the 2.5"metalcloak springs to give the lift you need to give you a cheap boost up.
+cody mccracken Hmmmm. I may try that budget lift thing! Thanks dude!
I’d rather watch this than Netflix great videos!!
Thanks! If you get a moment... watch one of my road trip videos... I like doing them!
Honestly this is the best Jeep account on UA-cam.
Dang, that's awesome to hear!
Thank you!
Great video! Way to commit to those 37s 😃. I loved the ending... Up next....lol. Should have been at least a 3-4" lift. Look forward to seeing what comes next. Good luck
What size lift would you recommend to accommodate these tires?
3.5" is perfect.
Lol when you flex... say goodbye to those fenders.
I said goodbye to them before that!
Thanks for the Jeep video, keep them coming! Here comes the "but". Putting anti-seize on lug studs seems like a good idea, but it actually reduces the clamping force when the lug nut is torqued to spec. Sounds crazy, but it's true.
+alan jackson Yeah, I get ya. It's all good...I just don't like lug nuts rusted solid and wheels I can't get off!
+autoedit Nobody likes rusted nuts. Come north and we'll go wheelin. Bring Frieburger too.
+alan jackson LOL! OK
why the hell would you put 37's on stock suspension
Because some people say Fuck it
Because most don't take them off road. If they did, the 37's would hit and rip the flares off, and the jeep would have zero articulation.
Not to mention the short lifespan of the dana 30 and drivetrain.
its actually a dana 44
jeremy greiner the Rubicon gets Dana 44 diffs front and rear
Because he’s a fucking idiot
What the rim size please looks like a 17x??. Let me know please
17x9
I also have one of those, a wife, that is. I can relate!
LOL!
This reminded me of a $400 1980 bronco I got with no lift and 35's when I was young. Lots of fun, but lots of rubbing. At least you have plans for gears and a lift.
Think you left out one important step. Lift kit
Great video. You made it look easy. I don't know why Jeep does put larger tires on it as stock.
Probably to save production costs. I guess they figure the customer can get bigger tires themselves if they want them
I asked the same question to someone working for Mopar or Jeep at the booth at king of the hammers event, he said "the lawyers do not want over 32 inch tires."
Figures.
If the tyre is bashing the car going out of the driveway then what would happen on a bigger off road bump?
+Onoff314 Probably rip the front fenders clean off. Stay tuned, I'm taking it out in the hills soon!
actually it probably rub them and cause little to know damage..
Know you are wrong about that. Know way it gets by without damage. I should No, because there's Know way to No. LoL
This was a 100% quality video. Keep up the good work. Solid stuff.
+Mark Franklin Well thank you very much!
As soon as he said lift with your back and not your knees I approved his video. Good joke my friend, I like telling my wife and kids the same joke.
Glad to hear from another person of "refined" comedy tastes... lol
You seem like the cool neighbor with all the tools / toys. Good job buddy 👍🏻
white letters out ftw! nice video!
+KyleSVT HAHA! YUP. Thanks!
+autoedit should have went black wall instead of white but nice jeep
+austin mills should of went Natty Ice instead of Tecate but nice tires
Why wouldn't you use the original lug nuts on the inside of the spacer and then the new lug nuts on the outside of the spacer? Since that's the thread each were originally on.
That thing is going to rub like crazy
You got that right!
Funny, because in europe black outer is normal and yet on Jeeps, 4x4's and SUV's we love white outer lettering.
Great video and a cute dog.
LOL... Thanks for commenting!!!
dam that looks great, but gotta get a lift
Did it!

I'm glad you fit the tires. I hope there are no bumps where you go offroading.
Have a 2019 Mustang GT and now trying to figure out how to get a Wrangler. lol
This Jeep changed everything!
Crazy lol, i have a 16 mustang and trying to buy a wrangler at the end of the year
That is damn light for 37s... I weighed my 35s albeit with steel 17s, at 118 lbs a piece... it was painful to say the least to lift them...
+dre04mach Wow, that is a big difference in weight. I wonder if the stock Rubicon rims are really light as well.

+Mr. Mix I kind of wanted to try that as well!
37s on stock suspension? you might be a mall crawler about as good as an avalanche on 22 inch rims
If you have to add spacers, take off the rocker panel and remove the fenders, isn't it technically not stock anymore?
White letters out all day ^^v
Yup!
Awesome! I wanted to keep the stock rims when I go to lift my Jeep, but didn't know for sure if it were possible. Now I know - Thanks!
+GeneralSpookX Cool! Thanks for checking it out and glad to help!
and now it's slow as shit
no it won't be slower it will just be really sluggish
lol
Peter Cooney because race Jeep?
Joshua Barton because merging onto a highway in a reasonable amount of time would be nice.
Peter Cooney I'm on 35s with 3.73 and merge on highway is no big deal.. If anything I'm just a tad slower off the line.. All good to me..
Any concern with the extra torque generated from 28 extra pounds per wheel? Any need to replace suspension or mounts with beefier parts?
Yes, there is always concern. Those parts will wear out faster because of the extra load so I go in to this know I'll replace everything with stronger components.
112 lbs difference bye-bye gas mileage LOL
2 things
1: It's a jeep. It doesn't know the meaning of "Gas Mileage"
2: 112 lbs is the equivalent of riding with a 6th grader.

I'm impressed by all the skills you have: I'm one of those artistic types where my masculinity is defined by my good salary which allows me to pay someone to do what you can do on your own( chuckle). You did a great job
Thanks....I think...lol
That comment tho hahahahah great job on the jeep though man
tonepaw I have no money, and no ability.
Problem with spacers is the increased moment arm of the axle means increased stress on center section tube joint
I got 40s on my Tacoma 2017 has 78.88 gears and a 5.0 coyote motor with a 6 speed transmission manual thing sounds mean staight with stacks has twin turbos and a supercharger and a pro charger has front wheel drive
Is that a mach 1 mustang you have back there?
LOL, I'm diggin' the duct tape mod to the taillight on the Ram...
This guy is livin life right
The new 37's look awesome Jason. I can't wait for the next video and the new axles. -Drew
+Supradrew™ Thanks Drew!
Dude I am 21 and like white letters out on my BFGs. Good on you. Loved the video.
I love the BFG'S, had a top run out of the KO'S and now the KO2'S
Just found you in the last couple of days and really enjoying the quality of the build. You have a great insight and great tips. Thanks
Howdy and Welcome to the channel!!! Thanks!
antisieze on threads actually changes the friction and therefore the torque required to equal the same clamping force
+Michael Weaver There's been a lot of debate on this... I find it interesting. A factory engineer has told me that the torque rating for this is measured at the mating surface of the lug bolt and the wheel, not the threads.
So what was the point of this? Just for the video or are you actually driving it this way?
I drove it this way for a while. Take a look through this playlist to see how it progressed up to current day ua-cam.com/play/PL_oEM8z39tKA42LI4tG8oTVfKFkVBHhQa.html
@@AutoEdits Thanks I'll check it out.
Fun video. Can you speak to the differences in how it drove with the 37"s vs stock? I previously owned a 2010 4 door with 35's, and it drove horribly on the road. Probably had more to do with the 4" lift, but I'd like to hear how yours was with the stock suspension. Thanks
It drove great just like you see it here. If you watch a few more videos on this series you will see exactly but it was awesome.
There have been rumors that spacers will ruin the wheel bearing. What do you think, is it true or not
