- In this episode of Rig Walk Arounds we take a close up look of a heavily modified 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 40” tires. Running 40 inch tires requires a lot of suspension upgrades and the owner talks about all the suspension modification he has done and how he likes the ride both on road and off road.

i wish jeeps came stock like this
dude the best part is customising your jeep
RAM638 idk if you would wanna see the price tag on a jeep like that
suchasreallife 50k plus
The wrangler Rubicon is like 37 so I'm guessing way over 50k for this
Very nice jeep. With 40s, you should really be looking at upgraded complete axles. Your 44 ring and pinion is reeeeeeally weak with tires that big and especially running 5.38 gearing. Just be careful when wheeling those stock internals!
San Diego!...I'm hearing Romana and Glamis in your video. The San Diego area has always been an off-roaders dream. I grew up in the El Cajon area with Ron Lechine, Brock Glover and Ricky Johnson. I miss home!
That is a DAMN GOOD LOOKING RIDE!!!! Its good to see other enthusiasts with 40s!!! I recently got mine done with 40's too and I love them! I have a 2016 JK Unlimited Sport S. Swapped the axles for RokJok 60, 5.38 gearing, and ARB Air Lockers. Rubicon Express 6" Extreme Duty with Coil Over Conversion kit and PSC steering assist. Poison Spider all around except for RockSlide Engineering Sliders/Steps! Just to mention a few of the mods... The ride is fantastic and actually drives better than stock.
That sounds like a nice ride! Great decision going with the 60's, I know that's something he is planning to do soon.
yeah, my last jk was a 2010 Rubicon and after 6 years of wheeling I had actually bent the front knuckles to where the tires were starting to tilt inwards at the top.
I've been watching your channel for a bit now and have to say great job!!! I like the mixture of wheeling and product information videos. I moved up here to Canada from the U.S. so I really miss the trails down south and watching your vids helps lol
Awesome! We try to mix it up on the channel, but it's great to hear folks enjoy the variety. With all that forest up there, I would think there has to be some good wheeling? Thank you!
Oh there is some good wheeling but it's totally different than out west. The Rubicon trail is what I base all my expectations from lol it was awesome
UD60's! Just went with the UD60's 5.38 with the 40's. you won't regret it.
Yep, dont think Jeep folks take guys with 40s on 44s as serious off road folks.
I saw the notification on my phone that there was a new rig walk around and immediately grabbed my computer to watch it big screen! Love the videos! Keep them coming!
P.S. Could you do some more 2 door jk walk arounds, that's what I drive and I love to see what people do to them!
Right on! More rigs to come for sure, thanks!
Absolutely going to try and gets some variety of rigs and hoping to get some older mode Jeeps, take a look at some other brands of off road rigs, but will definitely take a look at some 2 door JK's in the future. Thanks!
There's nothing like a jeep period.
Stumbled on this channel and enjoying the content so far! Im definitely will be getting a Jeep in the future!
Awesome man and let us know what Jeep you get!
Wow! Great rig! Love all the mods, but man! Cha-Ching ;)
Thanks! It really is a great rig and so many mods to drool over!
I finally made a heated seat installation video on my channel. Thanks for the inspiration!
+HeyItsWinner Right in man!
LOL ... whenever he talks.. he slaps whatever is near him... the bumper... the seat.. etc.. LOL
I know! I cringed when he slapped the hood paint, even though it's a jeep still... lol
Wow what a beast! Lot of money into that jeep
It is such a great looking rig and we are all guilty of throwing money at our rigs!
Ripp supercharger would be a great addition to help with power with those sized tires with recovering a little of your gas mileage.
Dont bother. I did that to my 2010. Was biggest waste of money. Still week transmissions all it does is override and sp has high spool rpm before it kiks in and that is not good for crawling. Go with LS motor and transmission upgrade.
And this Jeep actually sees some dirt. Nice!
Thanks Daniel and TR, Awesome Jeep, Those 40's are absolute Filth, but that Jeep is the best engineered Jeep I have ever seen, Message to Daniel, Just one thing you need to finish it off and that is A Hi-Lift E-Xtreme 48 or 60 with the main shaft color coded to match the Jeep, Hope you don't mind, just Love this Rig. thanks for sharing.
yes, let's do the Rubicon!
Ya, I need to start planning a trip for next year... Rubicon and Moab on the top of my list.
Awesome ,I HAVE A VIRGIN YELLOW RUBICON: ) IM GOING TO START WITH THE LIFT KIT SOON
Awesome rig, thanks for sharing
Need some video of your guys wheeling after the interview. That is a hell of a build!!!
There is a short 1 minute clip I did on our Facebook page of hime wheeling, but the didn't film a whole lot on the trail, just enjoyed the scenery! facebook.com/trailrecon/
what's up brother great video and walk around interview. I got a little channel my self. keep on rocking brother great stuff
Thank you!
Very nice rig, and only 21k on an '11! We have 26k on a '15! It would be quite a bit more but it has spent about 5-6 months of its life in the body shop LOL! Great video as always!
I've got almost 30k and mine is a 2015, but it's my daily. Thanks!
really nice rig!! good job with the videos i wish you can do my 15 rubicon baja yellow one day...
This Jeep has inspired me.
wow 40s nice!
Hey Brad, thought of another question ask in the rig walk around videos. If you were do build it again, what would you do differently?
Great suggestion, but if I start asking too many questions I'd just put you all to sleep! LOL! Thanks man!
Love your vids man, keep them coming!! Happy Holidays!!!
Thank you and Happy New Year!
Now that's a Tonka!
It's a very cool toy for sure! LOL!
TrailRecon it's also nice to know how long these guys have been working on there rigs, puts into perspective that it's a marathon and nor a sprint...unless your rich or got a whole lot of sponsors!
Can you do a follow up on him I wanna see if he went through with the ls swap
Man that hood had me thinking there was a supercharger or a hemi in there. :( Oh well, still a very nice rig
Has smittybilt improve their quality? My friends and I use to call them shittybilt back in the day cuz their bumper and other heavy use items were made in China. Personally I don’t like their stingers or fenders. But to each is their own, that’s the great thing about jeeps
Theyre still crap....
Not sure if anyone mentioned this but two different size tires on a solid axel will destroy the diff.
I love this jeep where is the jeep now??
love these videos
Great to hear, thank you!
Are those RBP fenders? Their 2013 sema show Jeep had those almost exactly. I owned it is why I know
Never cared for yellow but man this ring is spot on! Now I just gotta sell a couple kidneys to afford it 😁
I don't understand why he likes the 1 knob disconnects...when the Rubicons come with electronic, push button disconnect.
What a heck is the purpose of this bar on top of the bumper?
Cloth is waaay harder to clean then leather buddy. You spill your drink on carpet or hard wood which ones coming out easier?
CB! GET A HAM!
Pretty cool video. Thanks for posting. I want to get that quick disconnect sway bar.
+Michael Morris Its an awesome disconnect for sure. Thanks for watching!
Michael Morris it really is awesome. Super convenient and the road manners are surprisingly good
I wanna see footage of this thing rock crawling like you say it does.
nice jeep
Are these tail lights a truck light package or did this gentleman have to fabricate the rectangular housing to fit inside the smittybilt corner guards. i have the same corner guards but i love those tail lights!
The housing was converted to fit the truck-lite units
my kinda jeep
Love your channel Brad. That intro cover music was GOD AWFUL abuse of a great song. lol
Love your channel anyways!
LOL! It's and older video... please forgive me!
@@TrailRecon LOL no worries man!
Maybe we can trail run some day. I just bought a 21 JLURD. She's in the shop getting a Teraflex ST3, Falcon 3.3s and 35's. Wonder who sold me on that lift kit? :D Loved the side by side comparison with road and off road, since she's my daily driver for a while. Thanks!
@TrailRecon or anyone else on here: Do you know where I can get that roll cage phone mount? (You can see it at 8:41)
Hi, how are you? I have a question, what is it? I'm starting with, I'll get it up 6 inches and I want to put 40 tires on it, but I don't understand what gears I can put on it so that it moves them well.
5.13 gears
My question is can you Put Dual Casas Like on a Toyota on a Jeep ?
nice video
Thanks!
Very nice
Thank you!
Have you asked the owner how the D44 housings are holding up with the 40's? Curious if he has ran into issues while running the D44 with the beefed up shafts.
He is considering Dana 60's, but it's a hit to the wallet. No issues to date with the 44's
I was wondering the same... D44 with 40's? D60 is recommended minimum...
What's your opinion on Rancho suspension lifts ?
*Has the hood of a straight six* alright let's see what's underneath. Sees what's underneath: well than ...
Nice!!
Can you please tell me what trail this is please.
I know it's in Romona but more info would be awesome.
+JUKEBOXX1990 Black Mountain Road. It's and out and back trail with great views. Here is a video I did a while back: ua-cam.com/video/WN7vv3OACcY/v-deo.html
TrailRecon thanks for the quick replay.
Last question can a stock 4x4 wrangler/Tacoma make it the the end?
Yes no problem, easy trail all the way up. That one little rutted climb in the beginning of the video is optional, you can go around it.
Looks like 5 MPG
reaper ac130 yep
Would anyone know the approximate cost to make a completely stock unlimited into this exact rig? Under 12k in parts? (No labor)
Hemi swap
damn sexy ... this vid give me an idea how i want mods my 2016 Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock ( manual , 4x4 , right hand drive ) ... better start saving ... 😅
Oh it's one very sexy rig for sure!!
TrailRecon how's on road for a Jeep Wrangler rubicon 6 inch lift with 37's? Is it noisy, bumpy, and what type of tires should I get to make it not bumpy and stuff
Damn an LS swap is next? What in the world does that guy do for a living to afford all of that?
How much have u spent w all of that upgrades we’re seeing here? 😍
I've built a comparable rig...started with a 20k base model sport. Put in about 25k lots of work done myslef except for welding longarm and axles. To have all the extras done by a shop its about 30-40k, that does not include the original price of the base Rubicon.
Is that a remix of Smells Like Teen Spirit?
Sadly yes
Those fenders look awfully ugly and don’t seem to offer much mud and stone protection? The oversize fenders they make here in Iceland look almost stock, but are much bigger than original and they make them for up to 54” tires.
How about mpg?
is he running spacers?
Did you get the modified idea from Ronny Dahl?
I admittedly watch a lot of youtube and Ronny and others gave me some inspiration and format ideas for this series.
It this manual?
How much does it weigh >5,000?
I would definitely guess it's over 5,000 lbs, they weigh something like 4200 lbs stock and he has a whole lot of new metal strapped on it.
4x4Ever poor engine
..4 door sucks..underpowered because of extra 2 doors...almost 500 lbs more than the two door JK..
Damn
damm I'm jealous :(
Aren't we all!
Will you be able to go anywhere now? With 40s?
بكام
Why is he starting ever sentence with the word (so) ??
All that leverage and no truss, guessets, = breakage
