they make it so dramatic
"my answer is....." (skips to 3 different shots then goes back)
"yes it is"
Thats how you make entertainment
Pawn Stars is an Indian soap opera confirmed
'carabinier' means gunman, 'carabinier a cheval' were the modern equivalent of horse archers. What he meant was 'cuirassés montés' which means mounted armor, they were the shock troupes. But the most Iconic imperial french cavalry unit were the french hussards, one of Napoleon's closest generals was even nicknamed 'the hussard'.
craig winked when he said 6 grand
Bryson ii
Your right I never noticed that before
Exactly
Now you've got me looking at all the "experts" body language.
Look at his eye though it looks like he has pink eye something is def wrong with his right eye
yes, he winked at Rick! I remember that there was another guy who rivk used to call for this kind of matters but he doesn't call him anymore because everyone who watches the show caught him saying that an object was worth a lot less that the real price, I don't know if the guy sold the armor but I would've definitely double check the price elsewhere.
look for Craigs wink to Rick at 2:24
+Diggin with Kap Seems more like a reflex/habit while thinking about something. Lots of people do it.
+Diggin with Kap nah that was him thinking that was an unconscious thinking tick.
lol thats funny
Diggin with Kap it
He does it at 2:12 as well though telling the guy it's legit. I think it's just a twitch
Best I can do is 20 bucks, and I'm taking serious risk here.
Best I can do is a penny and some chewed up bubblegum, and I'm taking a serious risk here.
Best I can do is a used punch card from froyo,
Half a McDonalds cheeseburger I found in my car, $0.37, and some lint from my pocket, and I’m taking a SERIOUS risk here. If you even go to $1, there’s no money to be made.
Cavalry not calvary. Other things Rick says entirely too often : Über, The Holy Grail of ___, and "I'm such a ___ nerd".
Why dont you ever show the part where Rick screws people out of money?
+Analyzingfunny it's about the expert given that it's his channel. Rick is just an asshole who is gonna short change people so predictably, it's not really all that hard to imagine how much the customer gets paid based on Craig's appraisals
+Analyzingfunny you know his running a business and you can always choose to not sell it
+Analyzingfunny you are aware Rick owns a pawn shop and you are aware of what a PAWN SHOP is right ? not just a place that buys expensive things...
Magfed Jim he’s not a collector, he’s the owner of a pawn shop
Alexander Gilles Craig Gottlieb is an expert while Rick Harrison is the current owner of the shop.
Wtf I thought he said “for this episode welcome to porn star”hahah
AWWWWW Craig! Why did you cut it off???? We wanted to see how much the guy got for it!!!
Godschildyes Brown because it can be taken down for copy right, however he can use all the clips in which the expert himself is in.
Calvary armor?
Rick, Calvary is religious. CAValry is military. :D
Craig is comming to lower the prize.
He winked when he said ......"sell for......"
"I'll give you 50 cents for it".
"I called in Craig to make a low ball valuation, so I can make a killing."
Fuck, you people are stupid
@@tacojones4276 its true crag bought this go see his UA-cam channel haha he also winked ay him and said if id buy this 6 grand.
I would imagine a first empire set would be worth more. Blancard's carabiniers participated in the ill-fated charge at Waterloo on Wellington's infantry squares. Get one of those and that would be interesting indeed!!!
Subscribed. Merci pour ton aide monsieur. Bravo
Nice Yachtmaster (: my favorite watch
"Is it real.....my answer is.........." Dramatic pause, eyebrow raise, zoom out "....yes it its."
The winked says it all 👌🏼
This is the Empress eagle, so it's an armor from a Dragon regiment, Heavy cavalry
Us, Hussards, are the "shock" troops, quick-attack mode, the Dragons are more like, he said, a tank rolling upon the foes, not "as fast" as the light cavalry of course ^^
Rick: Best I can do is 69 bucks and a trip to the hotel after, come fully equipped
old man is my spirit animal haha
1:50 !!!! Its not real , thats new
I take it that he was smart and didn't take Rick's offer of "Well, I'll give you $25.00. You know we have overhead, right?"
'"Carabinier a cheval" does not mean "soldier on a horse"! It means "mounted carbine man".
Interestingly, all cavalrymen were armed with carbines, not just the Carabiniers. Also interestingly, they never used them in battle. The carbines were only used in sentry duty. In battle, they used swords and occasionally pistols.
And, yes, those breastplates and helmets were worn IN BATTLE up until 1914. Contrary to popular belief and to what the "expert" is saying, they actually were musketproof at sufficiently long ranges. We have historical, archaeologigal and experimental evidence of that.
True, it's hard to be happy with his translation. But I would say "Carabinier a cheval" is a a title unto itself. Like you, I would say it's a "mounted carabinier." Nice explanation of the rest.
2:26 he squints his right eye. I wonder what he meant.
I hate when they cut out the outcome of the deal.
Craig: Let me take a look....... snifffffff yep it’s real
the breast and back plate will sell for around $1,000.00 and the helmet will bring about $2,000.00.
Whys the expert so serious 😂
"We purchased it from a Parithhhhhh antique dealer"..
We found this spoon sir
Did they have machined bolts (at the inside) at that time?
Ørjan Tufte I know this is a year old post, but to answer your question; yes!
At this time, especially if this was manufactured in the 1870's, what was known as the "Industrial Revolution" which was the time where manufactured goods was being machine-made through factories and it was absolutely booming at this time.
he needs to go and sell it in france
Interesting expert meet interesting seller 😄
Yea he winked alright at 2:25 and priced it lower more than likely just so they rip off the owner of it lmao
Rick: Best I can do is 12 bucks.
He blink his one eye at 2:25
Expert pala si Ramon Bautista
but if it was Napoleons roaly cavalry guard its worth 30-40 k
1:05 lol, you know you fucked when you wear your face as emblem
CRAIG, you tiny little sod! Why did you cut the end off?
Hummmm. The screws to hold the face plate on.....that is 1815 era breast plate with a 1900 era invention. How did he miss that?
I'm french , it's ''la cavalerie du carabinier" CA● VA● LE ●RIE
Off camera..."Let call a friend of mine who is an expert on this type of shit."
Best cavalry at the napoleonic war
Le Connaisseur non monseiur. British heavy cavalry were the best eg 1st and 2nd Life Guards or the Scots Greys
I am pretty sure the best cavalry were on the side that won. ;)
@@jameshay7247 This is from the 2nd french empire...france didn't fight UK back then
"At least 30 year old leather" Well... that doesn't say much considering the guy bought it like 50 years ago
Yea but he could be lying. Just don't assume everything someone tells you is true.
Things that don't go together French army and fear
What are you talking about stupid boy ? Wich country have the records of most battle won and the biggest ratio of years spend in war ?
So you missed the part where Rick offered him 100 bucks
So there were wing nuts back in the 1860s?
Why do you wink at Rick before you evaluate the price?
ill trade it for a bag of eminems
How many Rolexes does Craig have? Lol
0:20 A Carabinier à cheval, nice pronounciation. :D
Gatinois
Those frenchmen...they gotta different word for everything.
Q: How do you say: "I surrender" in Frogy?
Tommy O Donovan www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/qi/7930116/QI-Quite-Interesting-facts-about-France.html
Tommy O Donovan I dunno. Q: How do you say "I'm late for every war" in Yank speak?
Oh btw, you probably meant "Froggy"?
As for surrendering, presumably you'd have preferred France to continue fighting in 1940, having been abandoned by her ally the British, and with who know what sort of casualties and devastation caused? Or to put it another way, stf already about a subject you clearly know nothing about.
wtf WHERES THE REST
0:18 think the old man died
actually.... He did
Let me call my friend who is an expert in smelling leather.
So funny. So original
It’s a cuirassier armor.
Fucking Barry from Storage wars
whats with the wink????
I am into this era, I am not an adviser however the top of that helmet looks quite static and fake.
Thats not gone happen! I must pay staff and store...how about 500 ! And i will seat in the store for years!!!
Im confused why does it matter if he winked
Alana Boswell A wink is as good as a nod to a blind horse.
'Calvary`?
French heavy cavalry: Cuirassiers Steel breastplate
Carabiniers Brass breastplate (yellow metal)
Best i can do is 5 grams of pubic hair but im taking all the risk here!!!
that's Napoleons heavy cavalry its an officer armor
Yann Norrbohm + Yes, but Napoléon the third... The small one, not Napoléon I
Oh ok
If he said 6 grand.. That means it's actually worth 20.
Cue the Rick-haters.
Craig you need to stop winking bro. You always seem to give rick a sign.
cavalier à cheval 2xlol... look im a pedestrian on feet.
Carabinier à cheval*
Guy brings in the tablets the original tablets of the Ten Commandments Ringo's I give you 50 bucks best I can do
I doubt they had bolts and wingnuts back than, it would have been a rivet, I call fake just like most of that show.
The breastplate is Napoleon III era... 1860s.
Craig Gottlieb can claim all he wants, but from his insight at several different items, sure he knows his stuff but his loyalty lies with the pawn shop. Im sure he is not doing these appraisal for free so there is some money being made here. Now to keep the business rolling, you would want to side with the party that pays you. Therefore, in plain words he low-balls the owner. In more polite terms, he "conservatively prices" the items. And we all know the saying, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. So with "conservative or low pricing of item" will mean the pawn shop will make more money off the item and thus will keep calling Gottlieb back for more business.
+Asad the great And if you were in Craig's shoes, you some how would act differently?
Craig L no i probably pointing out the obvious. its the nature of the beast. the only thing is if an item was going for super cheap to rick and i knew it to be worth waaaay more, i might just buy the item myself at slightly higher than what rick was paying.
+Asad the great That would be short-sighted. Make a few hundred bucks from buying an item out from underneath a pawn shop owner that invites you into his store and gives you worldwide exposure (never mind his brick-and-mortal costs) while ruining your relationship with him. I doubt Craig is that dumb to make a side, parking lot deal with the seller.
Craig L well it all depends on item and how much the shop is giving vs the actual profit
+Asad the great Not really. Your character is called into play if you make some quick, short-sighted deal. Craig gives the guy a few hundred extra, and what, he can go to Disneyland for the day. He tells the guy 'No way, deal with Rick or don't call me' and his integrity gives him foundation to be seen as reputable, and he can buy annual passes for him and his family to Disneyland for life.
I have this piece of toilet paper with dried shit from 1905 and am looking to sell it for $12,000, but $9,000 is the lowest I will go!
"The best I can do is fifty cents."
Ill do 75 cents. bottom line
Skitseli can you do 60?
"I'm taking all the risk here. I have to find a Dried Shit Toilet Paper collector, and that's gonna take time. Then I gotta pay auction premiums.....I just.....look, I'll go one dollar, but I can't go higher."
"Can you do $1.75?"
Tell that man to never speak French again lmao😂😂
Can argue with someone who has 14999999 views...
Remember when the French wasnt shit in wars
The old man knows Greg is a fraud...RIP old man.
Why do Americans say "Calvalry"?
Thats just how everyone says it here...
Is this guy dead
These guys are just cheating by undervaluing everything
ces't bon - that's good, not its good! lmfao. also those pronunciations were awful
So cringey when the seller said it's good in French.
Well if it's French it's safe to say it's never seen battle
Napoleon III... safe to say, not on the winning side! :)
Oh dear another dim-witted moron...
Napoleonic wars ringing a bell here (amongst others?) Ignoring that and many other conflicts I'd suggest that France has been involved in more conflicts than the US since WW2. But hey I was forgetting that all the US has been traditionally keen on is supporting one vile right wing dictatorship after another (all in the name of democracy and the "American" way) - e.g the US backed coup and murder of the democratically elected president of Chili - Salvador Allende
Its from the 2nd empire..it was probably use in italy, russia, mexico and africa
It's pronounced CAV-AL-RY---- why do americans mis pronounce so many words... It's CAV-AL-RY.. not CAL-VA-RY... also the word is ASK,,, not AXE... cripes!
Annoying eh. Also, if it dates from the 1870s it was NOT worn in the 1800s. I cannot understand why people find it so hard to speak their own native tongue properly.
Thank you. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks speaking properly is important. .I watched a documentary on the history channel several years ago. It was about the Custer era and the wild west and narrated by a famous celebrity. For the entire series he pronounced 'Cavalry" wrong. I felt like calling up the network and asking "How much did you pay this guy,, because for a history channel, you've got it all wrong."
rick rickster nobody pronounces axe as ask
