Marina was only written like that in the english localization. The way she's written now is how her character is intended. That localization was just really bad if you ask me just for how inaccurate it is, even if it's kinda funny.
I felt like there was infinitely more passion in s2 development and content than 3, the only time I felt like s3 surpassed s2 personally was the grand festival.
the change in dialogue from being sometimes very mean in s1-s2 to sweet all the time in s3 really reminds me of animal crossing and how less meaner the islanders have became in the newer games.
to be fair, i think the splatoon 3 multiplayer is better in many regards, but not ALL. i think the overall amount of content in splatoon 3, while having more than s2, isn't enough to justify being a sequel, and the quality of a lot of the content isn't that high. the only thing that makes it truly better than s2 is now after the grand festival came out.
I use the Amibos I got to get to the grand festival, I might buy Callie and Marie next or get the side order Off the hook joints because of that 🔥DRIP🔥
Saying this as someone who’s been here since the first game, honestly with the context of how many years have passed since splatoon 2’s release it makes sense to me that Pearl and Marina have mellowed out a lot, both of them would be in their late 20s to early 30s As for the DLC I really loved Side Order, I liked the different dialogues offered depending on what weapon you decided to use and clearing them all was more satisfying than I can say (especially 8’s palette since I did it with only 18 chips inserted = 2 active hacks) Smollusk learning to just take the L was funny too and learning its story through the weapon notes was really cool I think Alterna was the best hero mode we’ve gotten, ditching the repeated gimmicks from octo canyon and repurposing it to be more like OE was perfect I never understood comparing after alterna to inner agent 3 tbh, After alterna felt like a test of precision and patience while inner agent 3 felt like a challenge based entirely on skill and memorization (and all for a damn toothpick 😭) Anyway that’s it for my yapfest, I think 3 is much better for many things and I hold it close to my heart now since release day (Seriously though where the hell is agent 4)
