Our custodians draw a map on our whiteboard before they remove all the furniture to deep clean! I thought that was genius and am so happy they do that for me. I have never had my room put back together incorrectly. They rock!
I always love to see how organized you are! Even when you feel you aren’t (which I’m ALWAYS feeling in kindergarten!) there’s always a helpful tip or two I never would have considered. Hope you are enjoying a relaxing summer, you deserve it!
I've worked in the same school for the past five years, my entire career so far! I've accumulated SO much stuff in that time and I'm moving on to a new school over the summer. This is SUPER helpful as I had no ideas how to go about moving everything!
Love the tip about taking pics of everything! I do this already when I clean my house makes it all easier to go back where the items need to be! Love it!
Love the video!! It’s incredible how organized you are!! All your tips make perfect sense!! I love the fact you use your own labels for the boxes so if there is any question you know where to go!! When I packed up boxes for my dad when he was teaching, we actually used bankers boxes (find them at any office supply store). All you have to do is setup the box and put the lid to the box (yes they come with lids) on top so you aren’t taping boxes shut!! You can use your labels on the side and reuse the boxes again and again!!
Thank you so much as always Russell! This year, we had to use boxes provided by our county to pack up our rooms and they required assembly with tape. The bankers boxes sound fantastic for teachers that may not be given boxes! Thanks for the tip!
I love your organizing skills and tips. They are helping my procrastination side get it together this year. I don't know if I'm going to be in the same classroom (*tear*) or even the same grade (*more tears*). Watching your tips are helping me get my classroom packed and my life a little less stressed. Thank you for making your vids and being a positive influencer in my life.
I'm so happy my tips were helpful for you! I know change can be stressful and even scary but it can open doors for so many opportunities! You've got this!
My 2nd grade teacher is the best she is moving classrooms to but me and my freinds are in summer school so we get to eat with her every Wednesday and we get to help her setup
Tips I will add: 1. Put all bulletin board letters or sets in clear bags and file them in a book bin so you can pull them when needed. 2. Make copies of meet the teacher and assessments now. 3. Organize all paperwork during down time or have students throw duplicates out. 4. I label all my students books with masking tape on the front of each book for easy returns. So they throw out their old label and number the new one for next class.
love this! I'm switching to a coaching role at the end of next school year and I have been DREADING the pack up and move. This has totally made me rethink my stress and I'm super excited to start inventory on my crazy preschool room.
I decided to quit teaching at the end of this year. I am not entirely sure what my future teaching plans are (I might go sub while I figure it out), so I am planning to only put my absolute most loved, not grade specific stuff into storage. So my purge has already begun. I'm kind of super to get rid of stuff. I am already making lists of what I will pack and keep.
We need to have the room packed before the last day because were not allowed back after that day. So even though I have a month left, I make packing and organizing into a game and everyday 5 kids voluenteer to do a task for me. LIFESAVERS lol! They have packed extra books away and even organized our supplies for me already
I can’t wait to see your classroom after your summer break. I am a high school special ed student in Vermont and I want 5o say thank you for sharing this wonderful video, I an definitely going to share this video with a couple of my teachers. Almost all of my special ed teachers are moving upstairs. That means they have to pack up their classroom completely.
Great tips! The Dollar Tree is also my friend. Most of the items I have in my classroom are from the Dollar Tree and they work just as well as the super expensive materials. Plus, if they are damaged or get broken, you really aren't out anything. :)
I can’t wait to see your new room after summer!! I really want to teach upper elementary when I am older, and I’m going to use almost all of the awesome tips you share with us!! You’ve really inspired me to be a fantastic teacher when I’m older. Thank you!! Also am I the only 14 year old who watches her videos?? 😂😂
This was such a great video, and I saved it so that I can look at it again at the end of the next school year! My school was one of the first schools cleaned within our district, so I'm able to get back into my classroom and slowly start reassembling the pieces and redecorating. I'm revamping everything this year, so taking photos wouldn't have helped, but it will help a TON next year!
Hi, I'm a new fan of your videos! I am actually a homeschool mom but love all of your ideas and enthusiasm! I had a question about your Teachers Pay Teachers materials--- I am interested in all your labels to use in my homeschool classroom. I had 2 of the sets in my shopping cart but wondering if they would duplicate each other and if I only needed one of them- namely the "bright" set and the Sterilite mini" set. Which one would you recommend? Also interested in some of your spelling/vocab resources. Thanks so much for your awesome videos!!
Hi, I really appreciate all your videos. I am a new teacher. I will be teaching first grade. I am trying to prepare a few things for the beginning of the school year. one of the things I am working on is "meet the teacher flip book" and it is driving me crazy. I don't know how you did it. It is soooooooooooo confusing :( I spend more than 4 hours and did nothing. Now it is almost 1:00 AM and I am very frustrated.
Am not wait to see your new classroom when you post class vids. I love you. You are the reason that I want to be a teacher and get a tpt store. Now my fav animal is a sloth
I wish I had these tips early in my teaching career because at that point it seemed like I moved classrooms every other year!!! 😬😳 I’m excited to see your new space.
Lol, my teacher didn’t just wait till the last day to start packing up, she waited till summer started then emailed me on the third day of summer and asked me to help her pack her classroom.... it took, I’d say, maybe 7 hours out of my day.... 😅😜
Hahaha that’s the same situation with me. One of our schools in the district is closing and everyone has to move there stuff to their new school, and my old teacher just sent out emails a day after our last day because she needed help moving lmao
First of all I want to thank you for being a teacher. It's a job that you really have to want to do because it certainly doesn't pay near as well as other jobs do and sadly it seems that in too many cases teachers are more like "baby sitters" than teachers. I'm a retired optician after working with kids getting needing glasses I can only imagine what you must go through on a daily basis with not one kid but a good number of them. In looking back at the video caps of your previous videos you have had glasses since you're very first one in which you were very excited about of all things a pencil sharpener you had gotten. But at that time until about a year ago you only had glasses on in a few videos. But since then you are wearing glasses in all of your videos. So I assume that you either were wearing contacts or your eyesight worsened to the point that you need you glasses full time now or you may have just decided to wear them all the time for convenience sake rather than constantly putting them on and taking them off. But whatever the reason you look every bit as attractive wearing glasses as you do without them. Glasses are expensive, I should know, I have sold probably close to a 1,000 or more pairs in my working days. Even with the help of vision insurance they still aren't cheap and you can only use insurance one time a year. I am going share something with you that I first became aware of about 16 years ago from one of my young female opticians. I noticed her coming into work wearing different glasses than the glasses she got from our store as her free pair. She would switch glasses at work because of course she couldn't be seen wearing glasses from another store while working. But I was very curious why she would go anywhere else for glasses when she could get anything in our store for 70% off. So in talking with her one day I asked her where she had gotten her other pair of glasses from? She told me that she got them on-line from a site called Zenni Optical (zenni.com) But what really shocked me was the price. She said they were only $16.00 and that included her prescription lenses as well an AR coating (anti-reflective) Shipping was only $5.00. She said that she really liked them and that they seemed to be very good quality. She went to her purse and got them out to show me. I looked them over very closely and i agreed that the quality seemed as good as anything we sold for quite a bit more. I asked her if she minded me checking how accurate the prescription was compared to what she was prescribed? I pulled her file out and checked the lenses and they were perfect to her prescription needs. I wrote down the name Zenni and it wasn't long until my kids were ordering their glasses from Zenni and were getting prescription sunglasses and many different styles. Zenni has a rather nice selection for as little as $6.95 and that includes single vision prescription lenses. A teachers budget isn't all that much being able to save money on something like glasses that are now pretty much a necessity to you I would think might be helpful to you. The money you save on your glasses should buy you the "deluxe model pencil sharpener" By the way what grade do you teach or what subject do you teach?
Hi Jim! Your assumptions aren't exactly correct. I never stopped wearing my glasses and I don't wear contacts. I would take off my glasses for filming because they did not have an anti-glare coating and would reflect the lighting I was using. I have ordered glasses from Zenni before but I honestly prefer Eye Buy Direct. I have almost 10 pairs of glasses from there so I am completely familiar with them and how much money they save! Thanks! Also, I teach 4th grade!
@@PocketfulofPrimary Thank you for your reply. Everything you said makes perfect sense. Not having AR coating on your glasses can make even doing a selfie nearly impossible and filming a video would be just as hard to do. So here I go out on that limb again in making assumptions. Once you got glasses that included an AR coating you were then able to leave your glasses on when filming because you didn't have the issue of reflections and glare anymore. I have a feeling that what I am about to tell you, you may already know. An AR coating purchased at a local optical store usually sells for anywhere from $45.00 to over $100.00 depending on the store and most insurance companies won't pay for it because it is considered as being cosmetic. I agree completely with you that Eye Buy Direct is a very good site to get your glasses from. In fact I have used myself for people I order glasses for. I am still with the Lion's Club which as know works with low income people to get them eye exams as well as glasses. The main reason I prefer Zenni is because they only charge $5.00 per order, not per pair. I don't know if EBD still does this or not but when I would order 3 or 4 pairs of glasses at one time they would charge me $5.00 for each pair for shipping even though they came in the same package. Also EBD seemed to sell a lot of glasses that were only available for a short time. For me that didn't work well because we would try and have people choose the glasses they wanted from samples we had gotten. It seemed that more and more often they discontinued many of the glasses we had as samples in just a month or so. Zenni seems to keep the same glasses in stock much longer which is a big help to us with what we do. But for someone like yourself EBD is great for you because you see something you like and you order it and everything is fine. Just curious since you have about 10 pairs from EBD have you ever ordered more than one pair at time and do you remember if they charged separate shipping to you? There are several good optical sites out their including Firmoo which has good deals on glasses. Often times they offer two for one deals which is great for the average buyer. I don't get it, when I was in school, that was right after the wheel was invented by the way, all my teachers were at least 55 years old. They did wear glasses but theirs were those lovely lined bifocals. Now I know a number of teachers and they all look more like students themselves then teachers. You certainly look much too young to be a teacher but i'm sure that you are a wonderful teacher and the kids probably love you. Why wouldn't they when you like you could be their older sister? Enjoy you summer.

"You've helped them learn all year so the least they can do is help you pack!" So true and it made me giggle. 😂

I know this is a totally random question... but what fonts do you usually use for your worksheets, labels, etc.?
For the main font, I use Century Gothic. For the title fonts, I usually use Oswald in Google Slides or Futura Condensed Medium in PowerPoint.
