Lilac Waters you can personally think what you want to think, and I’m not trying to hate or be mean or anything, but I think that these tests are important 1. For teachers to see how much each student knows about a certain subject and 2. For teachers to then take these scores and figure out where students need help in that subject and from there 3. Help the students that are struggling or need help.
The person who invented standardized tests said, and I quote, "These tests are crude and should be abandoned." He didn't want students to go through those things.
These are great! I remember when I was in third grade long ago, my math teacher gave us special shiny pencils for our standardized tests and she told us they would bring us good luck, but ONLY in math. Even in college, I pulled that puppy out for my math finals every time--Algebra, Calc, Stats--you better believe I was using my shiny blue pencil from third grade. These motivators matter!
@@mollyerika7350 It was a plain number 2 pencil, just with a fancy color on the outside. I took many scantron scored tests with it without any problem.
I’m in high school right now and I remember always being stressed to take the tests but having no way of coping with it. I think you are an amazing person for putting this much time and effort towards your students!!!!
When crafting I use “Purple Tape” that has a very light tack. If you used that on the front of your posters, you could turn them over to tape the back. Then before laminating take off the purple tape.

I just binge watched a lot of your videos today! I’m in my third year in college for elementary education with my math minor/endorsement! Watching you gave me some teaching motivation! Thanks for all you do! I’d love to hear more about your college experiences, student teaching, etc. Keep up all the great work! You’re making an impact in more places than you think!
I would cry if my teachers actually cared about my anxiety about tests. I get so overwhelmed with studying and remembering answers. And to put pounds of homework ontop of that creates a lot of mental breakdowns. I would hug you if I got one of these after tests. That would definitely ease all of my anxiety. Your kids are so lucky to have you. ❤️
I absolutely love this!! I hate testing😂!! It forces teachers to teach to a test, and I absolutely hate that!! It doesn’t give the teachers room to be as creative as possible with their lessons. There is pressure on not only the students but the teachers as well. What you do for your students is awesome!! I love the testing treats and the motivational messages on the pencil. The motivational messages by the parents is an awesome touch. I never had that because I didn’t have teachers who were that proactive or creative!! My dad hated testing when he was teaching because of the pressure in the system he taught. Where he taught the biggest metric was pass rate of students. You are going to laugh at me but I bought him a “poop moose” from QVC. Lift the head and candy would come out the back. Students loved it and kept helping themselves. I think in one semester I bought $30 to $40 of m&ms for it!!
Totally agree about the brain sprinkles. I started using "Test Sprinkles" after watching one of your earlier videos. And OH, MY GOODNESS!! My 4th and 5th graders LOVE THEM!!! They talk to everyone about them and I received tons of wonderful emails for parents.(THANK YOU!!). I also do a treat a day and read books to alleviate stress and anxiety.
Honestly, The middle schoolers (including me) go from class to class and we really don’t get the affection that you give your kids. They’re lucky to have you as a teacher!
As a student in highschool who just took the standardized state tests, I definitely agree with giving out testing treats. All through middle school and elementary we would get store bought candy but to my surprise, during our testing days this year my Algebra 1 teacher brought us her own homemade brownies and biscuits (everyone loved them). Personally I feel that it’s better than going out and buying treats because it’s probably a healthier alternative and because it is directly from the teacher it feels like a more personal treat to look forward to when that testing session is over. (But of course I am not a teacher in any way shape or form, this is just a suggestion for any teachers who are looking for ideas) Also, check for food allergies if anyone does this as a testing treat!
Thanks Michelle! We test next week and I always love the different things you share.... I think I am broke everytime I finish watching your videos, but my kids are worth it!
Omg Michelle! I loved this video! All of your tips were super helpful and I already use about half! I also teach 4th grade and they love all those tricks! I will definitely try more of these next year! I strongly believe that motivating students and boosting their confidence before testing is half the battle! Great job! Looking forward to your next video!
I’m in 8th grade which means this is my last year of this kind of test. My teacher shows us random videos that are just so strange but it’s fun before tests.
I am 12 years old but i watch your videos because i want to be a teacher when i grow up i just took parcc this year and i am working really hard in school you are one of little teachers that do youtube and i think that is awesome and i go to school in Maryland 7th grade
These are such cute ideas! I love it! I’m definitely going to take your tip of making motivational posters. I hate how depressing my room looks during finals.
Our students just finished Forward Exams and now we have todo MAP testing! Between snow days and testing I feel like we lost so many days of instruction this year :(
All we get is to read quietly, put your head down, or just sit quietly. I got in trouble for drawing cause I didn't want to do any of those options. But then again I'm in seventh grade 😂
Not quite sure why I watched this all the way through. I’m not a teacher yet, and when I am I will be teaching preschool...... such amazing tips though!!
I wish my teachers cared. they don't seem to care about stress or mental health and so many people I know get terrified about tests because of the pressure and strain put on by teachers, along with the workloads they put on us
At my school they made a test for 2 weeks. On the 1sr day 1st period was 3 hours than on Tuesday we started with 2nd period and that class was 3 hours and then the rest of the classes where 20 minutes and after 8th period we had to go to first

Standardized test are so pointless. If we as teachers have to use differentiated instruction then why are the students expected to test in this way.

I don’t understand standardized testing. I NEVER took any before moving to the US during my freshman year of high school.
At my school , we have to take own anything that has words on it because the student might need to read the words and use the poster to spell them.
Yea here in PA you can't have ANY posters AT ALL
