Standardized test are so pointless. If we as teachers have to use differentiated instruction then why are the students expected to test in this way.

      @celesteschannel374 5 років тому

Lilac Waters you can personally think what you want to think, and I’m not trying to hate or be mean or anything, but I think that these tests are important 1. For teachers to see how much each student knows about a certain subject and 2. For teachers to then take these scores and figure out where students need help in that subject and from there 3. Help the students that are struggling or need help.

These are great! I remember when I was in third grade long ago, my math teacher gave us special shiny pencils for our standardized tests and she told us they would bring us good luck, but ONLY in math. Even in college, I pulled that puppy out for my math finals every time--Algebra, Calc, Stats--you better believe I was using my shiny blue pencil from third grade. These motivators matter!

When crafting I use “Purple Tape” that has a very light tack. If you used that on the front of your posters, you could turn them over to tape the back. Then before laminating take off the purple tape.

I absolutely love this!! I hate testing😂!! It forces teachers to teach to a test, and I absolutely hate that!! It doesn’t give the teachers room to be as creative as possible with their lessons. There is pressure on not only the students but the teachers as well. What you do for your students is awesome!! I love the testing treats and the motivational messages on the pencil. The motivational messages by the parents is an awesome touch. I never had that because I didn’t have teachers who were that proactive or creative!! My dad hated testing when he was teaching because of the pressure in the system he taught. Where he taught the biggest metric was pass rate of students. You are going to laugh at me but I bought him a “poop moose” from QVC. Lift the head and candy would come out the back. Students loved it and kept helping themselves. I think in one semester I bought $30 to $40 of m&ms for it!!

As a student in highschool who just took the standardized state tests, I definitely agree with giving out testing treats. All through middle school and elementary we would get store bought candy but to my surprise, during our testing days this year my Algebra 1 teacher brought us her own homemade brownies and biscuits (everyone loved them). Personally I feel that it’s better than going out and buying treats because it’s probably a healthier alternative and because it is directly from the teacher it feels like a more personal treat to look forward to when that testing session is over. (But of course I am not a teacher in any way shape or form, this is just a suggestion for any teachers who are looking for ideas) Also, check for food allergies if anyone does this as a testing treat!

    +Pocketful of Primary
    Michelle ,
Have you heard of the joke about the monsters that come out from under the bed at night ?
Well , back when I was an autistic student in school here in Shelbyville , Tennessee it is the DREADED TCAP test as in
Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) .
And they didn't break it down either as in one day it's the math portion and then the english portion the next day .
They gave it in ONE GIANT CHUNK . Yes , THE WHOLE TEST , everyday I had to take it .
Watching this video makes me wish you were My Teacher even more because not one of My Teachers from even in high school
ever did with me what you are doing with your students in helping them through anxiety .
The thing is that it was worse in high school because the testing was going on during a basketball pep rally day
and in My High School ( Shelbyville Central High School ) I was basically next to the king of the pep rallies " GO EAGLES !! "
So , missing the pep rally brought on the temptation added to the anxiety I was already feeling and
it fueled anger . Like the high school teacher that administered the test had to deal with my behaviors like
getting off task and getting hyper on occasions to cope when I got frustrated but
My regular high school SPED teachers had to deal with me at that time when I got like really frustrated during testing .
Like the things that you do with your students for y'all's PARCC testing or even de escalation won't even enter their minds
until I get frustrated to where I am down to bringing out the teacher put downs .
The moral to the story is that I don't function well at all with extensively long and intensive testing like that
but a teacher like you would have taken at the very least a little piece of the frustration I felt knowing that there would have been
someone like you there to help me cope and power through my levels of frustration .
Keep doing what you are doing and I hope that PARCC has ended for you all for this school year .
    Keep smiling beautiful .
    - Dwight

AND: for treats we got at the end of SATs and during SATs were ok... Basically, we got free orange juice shots every day for a "brain warmer" basically wake us up. Then afternoon of the day we finished we got a cornetto (cheap asda ones yes) and then we all got a cup-cake and got to watch Mary Poppins the new one.. and we got free breakfast every morning we got to come in early for toast and juice. Thursday the last day we get a "bacon bap" basically bacon on toast and get juice with it I hate bacon though and butter, so I hardly ate anything. :( I starved throughout because I don't each snack
