Leave the engine run up to temperature with the cap off. The coolant levels will drop when the thermostat opens top it up and leave it run till the blowers blow hot. Take it for a drive then test the coolant again if it’s fine you have nailed it
Thanks my Friend. I was looking for a video like this. must replace exactly this part on my Corsa D OPC NRE. I broke the flange from the coolant reservoir to the thermostat. The supply line had one. Soot and it broke off when it was removed and the rest got stuck in the thermostat flange. when trying to get the rest out of the flange, the flange broke. a 20 euro damage has now become 120 euros 🤦🏻👏

Hi, love the video very well explained. Can I ask if there is a seal between the oil cooler pipe and thermostat Housing. I have a leak from this point. Cheers Mike
Yes! There should be an o ring on there if I remember correctly. The pipe sort of sticks out and slides in to the thermostat very slightly. There should be an o ring in the end of that that buts up to the thermostat housing
Any local factors should be able to get you one. But! I think you’ll be surprised by how cheap they can be at the main dealers. I got one recently for 60 odd pound

good job, one question tho, what kind of seal is there between the water feed pipe and the housing? Mine is in poor state and I cant seem find which one to buy
What feed pipe do you mean? The small plastic one on top that goes to the throttle body or the metal one he took off, below the thermostat? The small pipe that he said gets brittle is found cheap on ebay. The metal pipe has an o-ring. Once again you can find that o-ring in a Oil cooler gasket kit on ebay. There are a bunch of o-rings in the pack so just match the old one to find the new one. If you're going to muck around with that coolant pipe it pulls out of the oil cooler as it has another o-ring on the end into the oil cooler. Use a small amount of rubber grease to slide it back in. There should be loads of videos about the oil cooler replacement and those pipes.
Yeah Stephen is right you can get the brittle pipe off eBay cheap enough… But the metal pipe down the front (on his one at least. Had a sort of flange that helped them mate and didn’t have a seal. Buttt! It very common on these for the head surfice to erode and create a bad mating surfice, for that I don’t really know what the cheapest repair would be. the best repair would be to have the head repaired or replaced
Yeah, I didn't go want to go into great detail. The metal pipes from thermostat housing to water pump and multiple through the oil cooler should all have o-rings or rubber seals. Definitely rubber seal around the flange you mentioned and care needs to be taken when refitting as to not deform it.
