Andrew Scott, who plays Moriarty, is not only a fantastic actor, but a lovely man.
From all the interviews I've seen of his he seems really sweet and humble. He's also a terrific actor and wonderful in All of Us Strangers.
I think the most upsetting thing about this episode, is Sherlock’s death looks convincing, so the damage it does on John is devastating 😢
In the original novel, Moriarty is supposed to be an ugly old man so having him as a quirky young man is very a plot twist. This episode is also a ref to the final fight between Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty. Both were supposed to die, falling from a waterfall because the author wanted to stop writing this story. However, fans from all over the world came to protest at his door house until he wrote again about Holmes’ adventures 😂
is it not the sweetest thing? 😭😭😭😭
The written Moriarty was quite a bit less nutty, too. Guess that was deemed too boring for TV.
@@annipsy2185 if I was Conan Doyle I would be so fed up … XD the guy was literally pressured to continue to write about characters he didn’t want anymore
Sherlock is supposed to be much older also...
Bit of a shame that a story series can be harassed into continuing past its expiration date 'x3 But hey, sometimes it results in actual masterpieces... Feel sorry for the artists tho 'xD
When Moriarty blew his brains out outta nowhere just to prove a point, i still remember my heart stopped for a moment when i watched that scene for the first time! Andrew Scott did something remarkable in his portraying a character like Moriarty imo, huge fan of him since... anyway really loving these reactions from you to one of my most favourite serieses of all time, keep em coming! 👀
Ahhh the beauty of foresight... some of us saw this as it aired... we didnt know there were going to be 2 more seasons.
But we had read the books
Martin Freeman’s “Don’t...be dead” line is so well done. If you haven’t, please watch “Hot Fuzz” and the rest of the Cornetto trilogy.
The actor who plays Moriarty also plays a very different character in Season 2 of Fleabag.
I’ll have to see hehe
Fleabag is a fantastic show, and the casting is stellar.
Well that and 1917, his dark materials, James Bond and a ton of other stuff, but mostly theater.
I love Andrew Scott, Moriarty is such a psychotic criminal mastermind. 14:55 had me dead because what?!?!?
One of the best episodes in TV history imo. Benedict's charisma is insane.
Facts
True Detective episode 4 !
It was announced, before airing this episode, it would probably be the last one as the actors has become to big and would be difficult to schedule the filming in, so we were all wachting, knowing they could really 'kill off' Sherlock, as AC Doyle did try, when writing Sherlock hundred years before, so when we saw Sherlock at the end, Mark Gatiss tweeted: Gotcha!!!!
But mostly, we were just relieved it was not the ending of Sherlock, it was just a long wait, but we were used to that anyway, and I found it all worth it. Glad you're enjoying this too.
"I don't like him, I'm sorry"
I mean, that's kinda the point :P
Moriarty isn't a man you should like, he's basically Sherlock Holmes if Sherlock used his intellect for bad
The reason WE like him is his performance, not because of what kind of person he is. The performance is absolutely stellar
There is a Sherlock short mini episode that is a prequel to season 3 called "Many Happy Returns" and a special after season 3 called "The Abominable Bride" before season 4.
“why am I crying? He can't be dead it's only season 2" literally all of us who didn't watch it live😂🥲 this show is just so well written and acted that you get maximal immersion into the story and characters
Ah yes the Reichenbach fall
One of the things about this version of Sherlock that old fogies like me love is...while they change the details from the original stories of 100 years ago, they include aspects of the originals as an homage. So we "Sherlockians" get the inside jokes. I won't go into them all...the show is designed to be great for the young audiences of today (rightly so) even without knowing the originals. The one thing about this episode is it does exactly what Arthur Conan Doyle did all those years ago...he killed off Sherlock. (He wanted to end the stories). Public demand was so nuts that he had to bring him back...and he deliberately avoided giving a plausible explanation....which is something to keep in mind for the next episode. Some people didn't "get the joke", but I love it. LOL
The Study in Pink springs to mind. In the original the police believe that the incomplete message was intended to spell 'Rachel' when it was actually the german for revenge. In this show they swapped it around. I thought that was neat :)
LOVE this episode! It’s so fun
SAME
"Moriarty, I don't like him' Ye, that's kinda the point.... :P
I like this one. The way they worked in Reichenbach Falls was pretty clever
The opening to 3x1 is going to break your brain.
Her reaction to 3/1 will be awesome 100%
Some people, like me and you, are a Molly. Forever attracted to questionable things 😂
God help us
Once i saw the episode you were reacting to I immediatly went "Oh no she's at that part-"
Out of all people making sherlock reaction videos I feel like you are the most accurate one✋😭 Don't worry when Sherlock jumped I cried my eyes out too (knowing there are still two seasons left🤓🤓)
I love and hate this episode. The whole frame job/convincing everyone he's a fraud drives me INSANE, and I've rewatched it less than the others. ...Can you tell I was blamed for a lot of shit I didn't do as a child? 😂
With the original Sherlock Holmes, this was the "last" story that was supposed to end the character.
There are other stories but only mentioned briefly that might have been alternate ideas. "The Geek Interpreter" for example.
The excellent Granada Television series with Jeremy Brett was introduced to viewers of PBS series "Mystery!" and hosted by Vincent Price. My favorite reading by Vincent Price was "Macavity" the mystery cat. I hope that eventually we get reactions to the TV series. 1984 (13 episodes), 1985 (13 episodes), 1991-1993 (9 episodes), 1994 (6 episodes)
andrew scott's moriarty is definitely an acquired taste, i also found him too weird initially but he was quickly grown on me
you can certainly say a lot of things about his portrayal but he ain't boring, really appreciate the choices he's made playing this character
There is a mini episode before the next episode called "Many happy returns."
Watch Fleabag if you want to see the actor playing Moriarty in something else, but he is only in the second season. The show is hilarious
Oh, also please say you're going to watch the minisode called many happy returns, it takes place after this but before ep 1 of season 3.
I can't get over how good the acting in this show was🔥Great reaction as always:)
Lovin the reactions to Sherlock, just wanted to add, when this came out in real time S2 Ep 3 aired 15/1/12 and we had to wait till 1/1/14 for S3 Ep1, which was so infuriating!! Can’t wait for you to watch the rest. You should defo give Fleabag a go!
Omg ur living the rainbow drop dream they're my fave ever!
One of the things that frustrates me about people's reactions to certain scenes and twists in shows like this (and this is no one's fault, as it is just a byproduct of having watched a show/movie much later than it's airing date), is that they watch these shows KNOWING there will be another season following. KNOWING that somehow, the main character survives whatever predicament, no matter how completely inescapable the situation or final it is, because they know they have another two seasons worth of story which include the person who has 'died'.
Again, I don't fault the people who watch these shows and who disconnect and rationalise like this. Rather, I just feel bad for them, as they've been deprived of the true essence, emotion and feeling of the show's twist or climax. Having watched the show as it was released, the horror and denial that flooded my body, not knowing if this was how they were really going to just end the show was a unique, FRUSTRATING, but also wondrous feeling. The audacity, the daring, the loss, the surprise, the feeling of impotence to alter the outcome of the ending. All of it. You can't experience something like that whilst actually KNOWING that it isn't the end and that somehow they all make it through.
okay but to see some more andrew scott in likeable roles ( not that i don't love moriarty ) you HAVE to see the icon the legend 'fleabag' by phoebe waller bridge!! also, if you're wanting to keep with a detective / drama, life on mars is super cool and a short-ish double series compared to some of the long runs like lucifer or sherlock
the end spoiler was rly unneccacary xD
in teh books sherlock was killed of by doyle but the backslash of the fans was so huge, it was like the worlds first shitstorm so he had to bring him back but the intend was that he was killed xD
In the Sir Arthor Conan Doyle work, Sherlock dies during the story of the same name so I thought he was dead. The rest of the stories are then done as flashbacks so I thought they would do something similar for the show
Arthur Conan Doyle really did mean to kill Sherlock in the book this was based on but eventually he wrote more stories and explained Sherlock faked his own death
Just wait until the next season. Not only the reveal of how it was done, but the introduction of Mary. If you think this series is good now, you have a treat in store.
You're crying because it's real for John!
"it's season two, he's not gonna die" -- yeah, imagine being the rest of us, when it came out and Sherlock hadn't been renewed for a third season yet. (Steven Moffat confirmed on Twitter right after it ended, that there would be a third season).
As others have mentioned: if you want to see Andrew Scott in something else watch Fleabag season 2. Even if you don't want to see Andrew Scott in something else, you should watch Fleabag season 2.
Yeah I think I will definitely give it a try. Reaction?
Yes please do a reaction to Fleabag!!
@@EllieroseReacts yes!!!!
I kind of find it incredible that Ellie thinks Andrew Scott is unattractive. He's literally known as "Hot Priest" from another show he's in.
The story in which Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock and Moriarty is "The Final Problem." In that story Holmes tracks Moriarty to Switzerland and confronts him on a ledge at the top of the Reichenbach Falls. They fight and both topple off the ledge and are lost in the waters below. Thus Conan Doyle was able to get rid of both Holmes and Moriarty, and wouldn't have to write any more Sherlock Holmes stories. Or so he thought. The reading public had other ideas.
The reason why Sherlock looks natural in a lab is because he has degrees in Chemistry and Microbiology. That is from the original Novels.
i cant take that woman serious after watching THE IT CROWD xD
Andrew Scott is near prefect in casting , as exudes menace with an expression. But if you want to see range watch Fleabag where he appears in the second season
im working on a fleabag video :)
@@EllieroseReacts sploosh
The episode after this is my favorite
Favourite season is S2 and 4 and favourite episode is S2 E3 and S4 E3. Only season 3 then the Christmas episode following after and then season 4 left remaining. Loving your reaction to this
I really hope you watch Fleabag, Andrew Scott is great in the second season
I like watching your Sherlock reaction. It is just 4 level above mine (and 1 level above my wife's) when we saw it for the first time.
DO watch the little shorts that BBC created between the end of the season and the beginning of the next. I won’t say they are critical, but they fill in important gaps.
You should consider getting sponsered by the Austrian company that you are continuously consuming your beverages of. 😁
I wish
This is my other favorite episode. They did it so well.
If you were in your low 20s or younger tend to think they can change cocky men for the better, but no that is not you. You are already set in your way, so you also know mature cocky men can't be changed because its already an ingrained part of their nature. This leads me to think you enjoy being of service to people you love. You enjoy doing things for people. And cocky men, well, they'd tell you what they want and that makes it easy to do things for them. You just have to make sure the man is self assured because they can back up with deeds, not men who are simply boasting. Which is just another way of saying they lie through their teeth.
you can watch, starrin by Andrew Scott ( moriarty).
Rainbow drops are delicious.
"I went from an 8 to a 4" um ma'am no, you went from a 10 to a 15, wym
It was eqully traumatic for me.
Moriarty is meant to be a psycho, though. Watch or read any Sherlock Holmes pieces and you will see, he is utterly nuts.
Gosh, you will love 3x01.
I’m so excited
For the longest time i just skipped this episode in rewatch cause it was just so sad , seeing john like that, sherlocks name being ruined, people turning against him....
You absolutely need to watch Fleabag! You would love the show and I think it would get a good reaction engagement wise too 👍
Watch Fleabag to see more Andrew Scott, and also watch Fargo. Martin Freeman is phenomenal in it.
Moriarty Has Always Been Sherlocks Equal In Terms of They are Both Armed With The SAME LEVEL OF intellect...To the Point where Acting out of Emotion Inhibits How they Function....What's Frightening is that Sherlock Values Human Lives Where Moriarty Values Himself to the Point That Ppl are no More Than Expendable Collateral Towards his Ambitions
I just bought 18 bags of rainbow drops and it's entirely your fault.
Omg yes hahahha
Ellierose, this was a mini-episode released between S2&3 by the BBC. ua-cam.com/video/JwntNANJCOE/v-deo.html
is this the full video?
@@EllieroseReacts Yes. It was a 7 minute teaser released before Season 3.
Would love to see your reaction to season 2 of Fleabag, where the guy playing Moriarty plays "The Hot Priest".
8 to 4? Looks? You’re a definite 10
Omg I NEED you to watch fleabag. I'm 100% sure you'd love it and you'd get to see Andrew Scott in one of his best roles. Please if you have time consider to react to it ❤ it's only two seasons
Ohh, are you planning on watching the Jeremy Brett version of Sherlock Holmes after you've finished this?
Maybe…👀
I am your new fan and this is the first time I'm early to watch a video so I wanted to leave a comment but i don't know what to say. Sooo... Hope you are having a good day
8 to a 4, no way, you look fantastic.
I’m totally a part of the crew that really doesn’t Moriarty. The actor is great but I’ve never liked this character 😖
😊 … your tears, your bad-boy attractions and your un-woven hair … ❤️ are very cute. Despite its criticisms, I fell for Sherlock *cough the show. 😅
2:00 you don't like the villain, the antagonist... So, you like the actor
maybe fleabag can change your mind about andrew scott... i know it did for me lol.
fyi.... always a 10 :)
OMG you look like Paris Jackson ❤
U started watching good omens also? Why u keep reacting to everything i love? 😭😭😭❤
Omg I’m so glad!!!
I didn't like the casting of Andrew Scott (Moriarty) either. I don't think it's his fault per se, it's just that there must be a million actors who would have been better. It's like Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. I mean, Robin Hood cool, Kevin Costner good, but Kevin Costner as Robin Hood? No.
omg if you react to fleabag I'll die (in a good way)
👀
You have to understand. We waited something like 4 years between season 2 and season 3. He died, but not really, but Watson was completely CRUSHED. It was devastating.
And then we waited I think 4 YEARS before the next season. Keep that in mind when you watch next episode. I think it's important to really understand how we felt when we watched it, and the feelings the director / writer wanted to produce
Dude what are you talking about?😅 It was 2 years. How do you mistake that for 4? 2x03 aired January 2012. 3x01 aired in January 2014. It was less than 2 years if you count 3x00 which aired December 2013.
Hello, miss Adler, never seen your channel before...
I like it. The reactions are not 'inhuman', to be honest...
Don't feel bad about not liking this version of Moriarty. I'm not a fan of him either.
Best episode.
You're not supposed to like Moriarty.
Hello there 👋
Heyyyy
I also really don’t like the Moriarty character, except for me it is the actor. His accent isn’t appealing, which I think it should be for a main villain, and he looks like a child.
Hi I'm dora
Your not supposed to "like" a villain like Moriarty, bucause the better he acts the more you wouldnt like him😀
Heath Ledgers Joker terrified me as a young teen and still disturbs me to this day which makes the portrayal so much better same goes with Jack/Joeffrey from GOT
I like loads of villains when I’m watching movies or tv shows, but Moriarty is not for me
@@EllieroseReacts Thats cool nothing wrong with not liking the character. In my case i hate to like him which in my opinion is a sign of a good perfomance. He embodies a little to much chaotic evil for me compared to his book counterpart but that just makes him creepier as a villian.
Your look has improved tenfold now you have discarded those nasty extensions. they don't look good on anyone.
Moriarty is the best!
dont watch season 4
