Sherlock not knowing Lestrade's first name is a great easter egg for book readers. In the stories he's only ever referred to as G. Lestrade and it was never explained what the G stands for.
@@XxXDestroyer ahh, that makes sense (I actually had to go check the reactions to remember what episode 1x2 was xD I just went "ooooohhh, the teapot episode, yeah, okay, that tracks" 🤣🤣)
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." I read that Sherlock Holmes quote as a kid, and I have lived by that ever since.
09:46 "what in the American..." 🤣 I am American and I thought the same. From what I understand about over there, it is a pain to get a hunting rifle or shotgun, but it is a bloody pain to get a handgun.
Another fantastic reaction. I am a person that has a VERY difficult time seeing different people in the same role once I fall in love with first actor (for me, The Doctor IS David Tennant. Always. 😂). So I was shocked myself at how much I love BOTH Benedict’s and Robert Downey Jr.’s versions of Sherlock. RDJ was the first portrayal that made Sherlock fun, and Benedict had the luxury of having more screen time to get to know the character. I think you would like the movies. I like the second movie much better than the first (much better villain), so if you watch, please watch both!
As someone who grew up reading Sherlock Holmes since elementary school, Basil Rathbone(late 30's early 40's) was the first portrayal of the character I saw and still enjoy watching to this day(saw in syndication in the 80's). Benedict Cumberbatch is for sure one of the better Sherlocks, but I've enjoyed them all in different ways, and I can't say who's my favorite. I spent the most time with Jonny Lee Millers version from the Elementary series and Lucy Liu as Watson was a very welcome change to the duos dynamic. That show ran 7 seasons so you got a more in depth character and stories over the shows run. Young Sherlock Holmes a film from 1985 was very good and of course looked at the character from a younger perspective(amazing special effects as well for 85). Jeremy Brett take is probably the one I've seen least, if at all, but I hear his version is the most authentic to the written works. To many great options, but all are deserving of a look and Robert Downey's take is solid as well, as how could RDJ ever not be great playing Holmes?
You'll enjoy the films for sure, especially because the vibe is sooo different. Likewise with the Sherlock, if anyone can pull adorable-arrogant off as well as Cumberbatch, it's Downey...
I’m not sure how far in advance you watch these before uploading, but if you’ve not finished this season yet, I’d advise watching the Christmas special called ‘Many Happy Returns’ which is abit of a bridge and in wikipedias words ‘acts as a prequel to the third series’
Really enjoying these Sherlock reactions! After you're done, maybe you'd consider "Elementary", another contemporary take on Holmes with a great principal cast: Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu. One of my favorite shows, for what that's worth!
7:15 Arthur Conan Doyle was a mystic but the Sherlock Holmes books have no supernatural elements in them. Does this series? You'll find out as you watch it.
LOVE Russel Tovey as Henry in this episode, when he freaks out you can just feel it. 😂 It’s great to see actors from a lot of my favorite shows in this ep. Russel Tovey is also in the BBC Being Human (amazing show, still one of my favorites to this very day) and then Gordon Kennedy who is also in a few episodes of Being Human but also in the BBC Robin Hood (one of my favorite shows growing up) It’s cool to see so many familiar faces in this one.
yeah banger of an episode ! And (since you've already watched it anyways) this episode was BIG on the foreshadowing regarding Sherlock and the East wind If you think about it👀

I have always thought A Scandal In Bohemia was the most prime of the stories, closely followed by The Red-Headed League. So many depictions of Irene Adler have appeared in the movies that show the powerful storytelling by Conan Doyle and the perfection of characters in them.
Loving you are digging it, and you really are getting the special touches, takes a great mind to see Sherlock for Sherlock, it really does keep getting better, short I am afraid to say but better keep going girl, then move on to Elementary, very different but also very cool.
I remember seeing this on TV when it first came out in around 2012-I would’ve been about six or seven. It scared the shit out of me, and I had recurring flashbacks to it until I was like 12 😭 But then when I watched Sherlock I was like oh my god, that’s what that was??? Can’t wait for the next episode, it’s truly the best, in mine and a LOT of others opinions :)
18:59 You should watch the old Scooby Doo show. No but joking aside, that was a common thing in the original Sherlock Holmes stories. You have a mystery that seems impossible, even supernatural, Sherlock starts investigating and at first you don't know why he does the things he does during the investigation, some of which seem strange. But at the end it is revealed that what was happening was more mundane than a supernatural event, and it is explained how Sherlock's actions led to solve the mystery.

You're so lucky to watch this in a short period of time, most of us.. 😕well, maybe not most but a lot of us, had to wait years before the next season came out and it was torturous. 😨The fourth season was many times rumored not to come out at all and it was a long wait.😴👀🙄 But it was worth it in the end.😌
There are just two Sherlock Holmes movies. The ones with Robert Downey Jr. You should definitely react to them, they are great. And it's set in older times, so it has a different vibe from this show.
I really liked season 3 and 4, even when some say it’s not as good or not good at all. The 3rd is more funny and the 4th is more drama. I like season 2.1 most, but of all season there was a lot to enjoy. 2 Sherlock films, pretty good but very different.
I think its so funny how many consider this one the best episode/ story while i actually think this is one of my least favourites. Maybe because i watched it way to young and it scared me too much but i just dont like it and always skip it in rewatching
I hated the films, to be honest. They're your typical action movies, and they barely have anything to do with the original. If you want more Sherlock, I'd recommend 1984 series with Jeremy Brett. It stays very much true to the books. If Benedict is a modern type of Sherlock, Jeremy is a classical one.
@@Educated2Extinction I've seen the first one and tried to watch the second one, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. It's a shame, because I like the cast (Jude Law and Rachel McAdams are two of my all-time favorite actors).

I am here for the Greg Lestrade appreciation :)
"What in the American?" Damn straight.
"what in the American!" IMAO I love it
Well this is the peak of the Sherlock. The Hound of the Baskervilles is pretty much unanimously considered the best story written by Conan Doyle.
really? It's somehow one of my least favourites, I don't even have any idea why, it is really good
@@lotemylife3006 sameee
If the hound gets taken away, he'd go to The Pound of the Baskervilles
:3
Well not the series adaptation of it. This is typically one of the least favorite and lowest rated Sherlock episodes, this and 1x2.

I first heard it from Spock in Star Trek 2009 and it had the same effect on me. I learned it was from Sherlock later lol.
Next episode is fire 🔥 Also Benedict Cumberbatch is definitely the best Sherlock for me.
Def the best Sherlock
easy 💯
Yes, the Sherlock films well worth watching. (Guy Richie) Also the imitation Game with Benedict cucumberpatch!😂
Imitation Game is such an underrated film!
Don’t forget to do the abominably bride after series 3
Don't forget to watch "Many Happy Returns" between season 2 and season 3
The most authentic Sherlock Holmes series was with Jeremy Brett. It was 41 Episodes from 1984-1994.
"What in the American?!"
Lol, as an American, I agree.
09:46 "what in the American..." 🤣 I am American and I thought the same. From what I understand about over there, it is a pain to get a hunting rifle or shotgun, but it is a bloody pain to get a handgun.

The book, The Hound of the Baskervilles, is my fave Sherlock story aside from The Final Problem. 🎉🎉🎉
The writing and plots on this show is incredible! The acting is just frosting on top along with your reaction:)
Worth watching the RDJ films about Holmes.

This episode had me terrified the first time I watched it. And the second time. And the third time. And...
From how much you are liking this so far, I think you would like "psych" quite a lot. It's a modern Sherlock take with plenty of humor injected.
