Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- We take the newly-released Tesla Model X for a test drive, courtesy of a friend of Tested. Here's how the Model X compares with the Model S, how the gull wing doors work, and what it's like to drive with Tesla's Autopilot mode on the freeway. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time!

#Tesla #ModelX
Someone in a factory in front of my school owns a tesla model X, and everyday I see it in the morning, it reminds me why I'm still in school
World. The
World. G
World. What? I don't get it
Matt Garcya what he means is, he is working hard in school so one day he will be able to afford an expensive car.
edison liu exactly!
I absolutely loved this demonstration. The owner tells us the pros and cons of the car, also the issues he has had with the car. Not just praising the car but also telling us the problems.I absolutely love the complexity and ease of access of the X, But the S in my opinion is the better of the three. My dad just ordered the Model 3, can't wait for it to come! Model S, 3, X (sex)
+Shahzad Khan According to the Elon Musk biography I read, he wants to release a model Yso it spells out sexy.He wanted to release a model E, but there were trademark issues.
Alex Kantor Exactly
+Shahzad Khan ahrem, he didn't order it, he reserved the possibility of ordering it before others which is behind him in the queue or hasn't reserved.
+Shahzad Khan I was just thinking this, probably the best video explaining the car out there.
Great video!!
I really enjoyed this. I liked that you asked a question and patiently waited until the interviewee answered. Imagine that! Normally you get people interviewing that are too eager to be part of the story and jump in mid-answer. It also helped that Christian is outstanding at explaining things in detail while keeping it very relevant and interesting. Congrats to both.
Agree, they both did a good job in this video.
Me too
What a nice guy. Definitely have him on the show again if he has anything to share!
"ALERT: You have unpaid parking tickets. Now auto-correcting to new destination; Police Station. Please keep hands off of steering wheel."
lol
lol
lol oh god
lol
lol... Can see where (idk, if not already?) cruise/auto-pilot only let you go a MAX of speed limit.... Auto parking (or ANY parking... being electric/computer operated) will not allow the car to even PARK where it would be at all, illegal... to do so. (haha, just imagining yelling at the car? "OH C'MON MAAAAAN..... I'm only running in for THIRTY FREAKIN' SECONDS! PARK, damn you.... PAAAAARK!!!) Kind of like you'd see on those silly Parking Patrol reality shows where people are straight-up cussing out some poor employee for writing them a ticket------- fined because THEY parked illegally!?! lol No speeding allowed, no parking allowed if/when it thinks you can't.... driving around forever looking for a legit spot..... might be an issue for some. =p Tho I'd prob. be terrified, freaking out using auto-pilot OR auto-park (phew, SO many are horrible parkers as-is, esp if/when parallel parking, can only imagine how bad they'd be in a reg car.... if they had only relied on auto park!) pretty sure I'd still take that chance, I mean, this thing is sweeeeeeeet!!! :) Lucky guy has TWO of 'em! SO nice... Those doors are the best, imho... Hope he enjoys the hell out of them, I sure would!!!! Live long(ER) & vape on! #ABillionLivesFilm #youarebeingLIEDto
Always entertaining to see a person use the autopilot for the first time! Norm seemed to handle it pretty well though. Most people do the zombie impression the first time they use it, just hovering their hands over the wheel expecting it to fail at any moment. Loved the "Ahhhh!" hand up like a roller coaster through the turn.
By far one of the best most detailed reviews of the Model X. Great job!
man the design is amazing! so sleek

I'm really excited to see what tesla do in the future when I'm old enough to afford their cars and the insurance
Norms excitement is so tangible in this video! I love it. You made a fantastic review guys
+drumr828 Norm was excited to drive the car!
+drumr828 Norm appears to know nothin about the car..
Christian is a great clear and articulate speaker
+Nick Ellsworth I think so is Norman. He did a great job interviewing Christian and asking questions that covers many aspects which makes this a great review of the car.
Excellent review of the car, thank you for spending so much time reviewing it! can't wait for the Model 3! :)
Great job with this! Thanks Norm for putting in the research to ask great questions, and thanks Christian for being so thorough and detailed with the answers.
Loved that this interview/drive was with a real day to day user of the car and not a salesperson!
tesla fans are like salespersons anyway. they believe anything the salesperson sais and repeat it, and most of them would never even consider researching anything themselves.
car drives itself and people complain about the web browser lol
+nerdlord20 Yes, because it's hilarious that a car like this can't handle simple websites :)
+duckarp I'd be more worried if it could and had some basic vulnerabilities or driving lags because of them. It's not a laptop it's dedicated computer, I'm not sure it's even a good idea to have a web browser.
+Андрій М. The car has two different control units for the display and for controling the car.
The owner is really cool and great to look at and listen too. Credit where credit is due, i really enjoyed this video. It somehow gives the happy positive sense of a bright human future :) ..something lacking and stagnating for decades already.
This is precisely what Elon has done. He has created hope for the first time ever, which might very well save the Human race.
"I could still easily get in the car" contorts body into a pretzel and slides in.
David Bruley 😂😂😂😂
NO DIFFERENT THEN IF YOU CAN'T OPEN A REGULAR DOOR ALL THE WAY. WE'VE ALL BEEN PARKED TOO CLOSE TO A HIGH CURB.
WHO ASKED YOU THOUGH?
WHY ARE WE YELLING
Thanks guys! Wow and what a neat guy Chirstian not only letting the car drive itself but also giving you the wheel
funny how they both still call the pedal "gas" haha
+JBF (Johnnyboy Films) it's the go pedal
+JBF (Johnnyboy Films) It'll probably be one of those things that stick for a long a time just like "roll" down the window.
+daniel55645 Holy crap i never made that correlation.
Yeah, since "gas" cars drive on liquid
Ah, the first step towards practical self driving cars. Thanks for sharing this.
grandpa norm driving with the blinker on
Lol
He's perpetuating Asian stereotypes
thechosendude
Gap is closing on being acceptable to make fun of Asians. Old people are still fair game for few more years.
+Hold Fast Films That bothered me so much. lol
+Hold Fast Films The PC police would argue it's already beyond acceptable.
I can't get over how there is just no noise!
+Jake Maji (Olamikan) I have a model s. When you stop and hit the pedal to the metal, it sounds like a plane lifting off if you are in the cabin. Its really quiet
For once a really long video I didn't mind watching! It answered all my questions, the hosts didn't have any annoying voices, they speak well and really were thorough. Thanks so much! I can't wait for driverless cars to take over the road- they will be much safer than vehicles controlled by humans. So many lives will be saved.
Such a great and informative review. The owner answered many of my questions regarding this car! Thank you guys that review was awesome!
Great work guys, this was a terrific video.
Christian is a super cool dude.
I think the little "touch the steering wheel" chime is also there to make sure you are not asleep behind the wheel
+Decenium It seems to be more situational. In a recent trip, stuck in stop and go traffic from 60-0 frequently.. it dawned on me that it hadn't come on on over an hour. So it does seem to be based largely on what inputs the car has and how it rationalizes it's environment. Speed is also a factor as when you travel 70-80mph the system wants you to touch the wheel more often as corners or other vehicles approach.
This probably because the algorithms that trigger these events are time based.
PaleHearse well the stop and go part, did you do that or the car? although in both cases one can argue that that rhythm would probably keep someone awake anyway.
It seems logical from a safety standpoint to indeed have the chime happen more often when going at higher speeds (especially when that is a constant as that is the moment people fall asleep, when not much if anything is asked of them/their brains.
With autopilot on, the car lane keeps and comes to a complete stop and resumes highway speed all on it's own with no input from the driver.
As to the at speed part, I again state that for the record, I'm fine with the input from me being based on environment instead of some time based nagging.
I did take an extended trip across the desert to Tuscon Arizona.. and I didn't find that it was putting me to sleep.. just the opposite actually. I found it left me more alert for that last push through the desert.
Even if you did nod off, the car would not crash. This would allow you to then pull over safely and get some sleep rather than waking up in a field with a cow looking in your window.
I drove the model x yesterday for a half hour and it's a WOW experience. Very quite ride . Smooth but with incredible excelleration. Great front seat comfort, beautiful panoramic glass roof . Regenerative braking can be set with different resistance in mind and it saves greatly on brake wear. Tremendous sound system .
This owner is really good. He is responsible regarding the features in his car and knows their limitations and that they are there to assist him NOT replace him. Thank you for not being an idiot. Congratulations on your lovely car.
15:20 foot completely of the ''gas.'' Funny how these words stay. Like ''rolling'' down the window
Loving this long format. But man, that Tesla browser at 27:29 seems incredibly slow and sluggish - it does like 2fps during scrolling. What is this thing running - Android? :-)
+Craparella Smørrebrød web browsing was super slow in the car--definitely not made for serious use.
+Craparella Smørrebrød Sounds like a feature rather than a problem.
Don't want people browsing in the car.
+Craparella Smørrebrød Tesla pays for the data on this so they don't want people going too crazy.
+Craparella Smørrebrød
Yeah, checkboards are much better.
+Craparella Smørrebrød android isnt the problem, its bad kernals that slow phones down.
this thing is unbelievable.
+Stone Designs you get terrific design, all electric, 5 star in every field, free charge across the us, fast and reliable updates that enhance not only the software but the performance of the hardware of the car making it almost future proof. A car that broke records for safety and performance, has autopilot that is not only much better that what others offer but the chance to, in the future, drive itself. yeah... expensive.
+Stone Designs What, you want it to fly too?
Love watching Tesla disrupt the auto industry. Fascinating stuff, and Norm is always a great technical interviewer (and his enthusiasm was obvious-- fun to watch him having a full-on nerdgasm.)
best review yet. Seen reviews where reviewers were just gawking at the the car , love the fact that norm is not gawking at the technology, but asking important and relevant questions.
The key of the car is very unique
And I also like the falcon wings
It's fancy
Yes, it 's just like the model S, both very unique. perfect key , if Tesla owners need a key case, please view this link www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_1?me=A1OCNKVJSVDAX&rh=i%3Amerchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1470462847
I'm not sure if Porsche stole the idea from Tesla or vice versa.
Tesla is a great brand and has great cars. Good for environment, fast, safe, and stylish. They're going to get more market share once electric becomes more popular and electric charging stations start replacing gas stations. A lot of car manufacturers are targeting the electric car segment now as well.
Dang this looks amazing.
Cool. Thank you for filming this and thanks to the owner of the Tesla. Probably the most exciting video I've seen this year. Absolutely sublime. Big thumbs up
question. if I drive this with the back doors open will it fly?
Daniel Malik thnx bro
Yea, turn on airplane mode ~pun intended~
loooool!
No! Probably it will just flap the wings like a chicken, hop a few feet and then fall off.
Loooooool😂😂😂😂
_If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious shit_
Love the model X just way out of my price range. I rented one once & it was one of the best driving experiences of my life. It was comfortable, roomy, handled well, & had impressive range for an electric crossover SUV. I tried it in self driving mode & worked beyond my expectations. Just wish Tesla would make a similar SUV in the $25k to $30k price range.
Well they are making the Model 3, a saloon that is gonna cost around $35k. The best part is that they say they have enough money, so they don't need to make a profit on it. Which means you should get more than what you paid for. Autopilot comes with it, too.
How much is it to rent?
Kylie Morgan A car rental place near my area charges about $300 a day for Model S rentals so I assume it might be half that (about $150 up to $200 a day) to rent a Model 3. The Model X when I rented it was about $450 a day.
Welp, I heard the model 3 is going to be 35k. That could lower the cost of the X and S.
David Dobrik af
haha 😂
Morgan Ehlenfeldt preach😂
My dad doesn't trust this car and thinks the autopilot is dumb because it would cause more accidents, when really it would prevent more. Humans take half a second to respond to something, and the Tesla probably takes about 1ms. Humans tailgate and take corners too fast and cause their car to spin out of control, the Tesla does not. Humans take their eyes off the road and get distracted by scenery, etc, and the Tesla does not.
All we need now is the Tesla to see stop signs and traffic lights, and maybe get it to turn corners at an intersection, and bamb, everything is solved. Although Tesla also might need to find another way to track the road besides just using the lines on the road, because the lines aren't always trustworthy.
I bet if EVERYone had a Tesla today, there would be nearly zero accidents, and barely any pollution. I really hope a Tesla will be mine in the future...
+ChrisTheAppleOne Autopilot is so boring....
In the future all the cars will be inter connected, so there will be more imformation to prevent accidents, also when the road presents some imperfections or is on remodelation could tell the car to take evasive actions and with Google maps they could tell the car where to stop in a stop sign or red lights or what is the speed limit in the road you re gong, so technology tries to prevent every bad thing that could happen as an accident or something dangerous.
Future will be impressive
jose ceceñas Yeah but will the future improve the feeling of driving a car manually? Actually having control of it?
+jose ceceñas Exactly!! My dad thinks people will hack into the car and cause accidents xD He's pretty old though haha
+jose ceceñas Exactly!! My dad thinks people will hack into the car and cause accidents xD He's pretty old though haha
I came here because of Davids Vlog
Same
Same!!!! Same!!!!
I want one now don't you?!
Oh my gosh yes lol!!!
Sammy Villa
Me too!
Yeah, the browser is not the best. But realistically, how much would you use it?
+Peyton id use it to watch porn while my car drove me home from the bar
tehjamez my kinda person!. You know how to party lol
I have some 30/40 years to live left, i must own a tesla once in this life time...
+[̲̅G̲̅][̲̅A̲̅][̲̅M̲̅][̲̅E̲̅][̲̅S̲̅] [̲̅&̲̅] [̲̅M̲̅][̲̅O̲̅][̲̅R̲̅][̲̅E̲̅] Yup, when u get one u can buy me on too, k? K.
+[̲̅G̲̅][̲̅A̲̅][̲̅M̲̅][̲̅E̲̅][̲̅S̲̅] [̲̅&̲̅] [̲̅M̲̅][̲̅O̲̅][̲̅R̲̅][̲̅E̲̅] I imagine this will be that standard before 30/40 years.
+Benjamin Norton kinda scary to think that too. I think the future is scary imo.
when david dobrik gets the same car so you want to learn about it lmao
Literally the reason why I'm here watching these vids lol
who the fuck is david dobrik
ghd67ik2887218 youtuber who just got this car recently
Thanks so much for posting this.
I thought the scenery looked familiar. I'm in Monterey and my ears perked up when I heard you mention Gilroy.
What a wonderful car.
This is the best test I have seen for long time. You are showing so many good things in this video and I like the camera and editing job to. The questions and the answers are timed good and I can look at this video more than one time. Thank you for this excelent test and videojob.
Thanks +Christian . That was fantastic. I think I could live with that model X ... I could live *_IN_* that model X! What is Tesla's policy on reselling these cars? What is the market like?
Lol i bet the tesla model x key was inspired by hot wheels 😂😂
Felt a little like that xD
David Brought Me here 😂😂😂😂😂
Melody Cardoza same😂
lol the guy looks in the side mirrors to see any car coming but he also turns back to check😂
27:20 imagine that moment when we forget to clear the browser history and the entire family is in the car :p
Thanks for this. Now I understand why electric is the future. It's about as close to a test drive as one can get without actually driving. I want one now.
Norm asks really good questions.
Your friend looks like a young Bill Murray, no?
+root9065 no
root9065 yeah! Crossed with that guy from 'who's line is it anyway?'.
Reserved my Model 3 yesterday. Very excited! Thank you for your succinct, informative videos.
Now the dashboard and *real* speedometer on this, and the wood grain trim, is outstanding. I would totally buy this!
"I wanted another car" Yeah sure why not, let's just quickly get another 100'000 dollar car.
Just thinking the same thing. Some people have more money than they know what to do with.
60,000 not 100k
+liam russell The version he bought was 100k
base model is 60K #TeamIronMan
i could only imagine the price to replace the front windshield that thing is huge
3:28 i can see the push to open feature being a massive issue for people living in cold climate, doors always freeze shut, and if you can't pull on it, you won't get into the car.
very true, unless it can blast that door open no matter what. But there are other parts that arent thought thru either, so it goes on the long list of improvements to be done..
+mtothem1337 I heard from a Model S owner in Northern Norway (his youtube channel is jorgen Winther-Larsen) that door and window issues are all fixed by preheating the car through the app. The only problematic special case scenario there, is if you have left your car with nearly no battery left, without charging it. Because it will refuse to preheat the car if the battery is too low (below 10% or something like that). Now the reason I mentioned windows, was because Model S has this thing where it rolls down the windows a tiny bit to be able to open the doors. I'm not sure if the Model X has the same thing.
Bjørn Nyland is another great channel about cold Tesla driving, if you want to know more.
Muskar Rolling down the windows doesn't work either if there is frost on them. but hopefully they have solutions for issues like that.
mtothem1337 I addressed that in my comment though. Or do you mean in that special case scenario where you can't preheat your car because you left your car for a long time with a low battery without charging it?
Muskar Yeah, since you commented on that, but i don't think it would happen alot. it's a really nice feature that you can preheat it, i wonder how much it drains the battery though
What a great review/demo of the tesla features! This guy really knows his tesla. I`ve watched a ton of the official videos, Cnet, and every other out there. This was the best buy far! Great job!
Great interview, questions and also, a lot of props to the owner. He gave a lot of pros and cons. Very good video👌
Skynet will take the control of this cars!
Computers and robots are just things to improve our quality of life. They aren't sentient and aren't going to take over. As for how computers and robots reflect on the workforce, with growing population, efficiency is necessary to expand our carrying capacity. Just as quick as computers take over jobs, different options become available for people to explore. It's going to be hard to keep up with based on how quickly things are changing, but things simply change.
ATMOS would do that.
If this scares you better don't watch Boston Dynamics videos.
his hand brushing on the steering wheel makes more noise than the car.
Thank God , Tesla save my life , I can noe text my mom when I'm driving..
You've got a great job, Norm! Really exciting to hear about this tech!
That auto pilot is amazing can't wait for cars to be completely able to drive us without looking on the road, great video. Tesla rules! ❤💛💚
here because of david dobrik
OK this guy is like a 75% Bill Murray and 25% Tom Hanks
Putt T. OMG I noticed that too hahahahahah
Texting while driving is illegal in most countries and this car has an Internet Browser? WTF!!
+Velofil Passenger can use it. And you can use it while stopped.
+Velofil yeah you can watch youtube since the auto pilot handles the driving for you
Thanks for sharing! That was awesome to go along for the ride.
love this car, specially the Falcon doors. Me encanta ese carro especialmente por sus puertas de halcón!
Does autopilot in conjunction with navigation take an exit for you ?
Nope! :)
lol, me too
Hopefully the autopilot isn't as stupid as Siri's directions
Yes, if the exit is a straight line.
I want this car so bad...
The future is now!
Great, sympathetic and informative format. Thanks Tested!
Great interview Norm. Asking all the right questions.
He looks like Bill Murray 20 years ago
Maybe 35 years ago)
+Dylan Adrian i thought he looks and sounds like tom hanks to me i little bit
So will autopilot work on Snow conditions?
given that its using optical equipment to 'see' the road markings ie, the paint on the road. I doubt it's going to do very well in poor weather
thesherbet oh alright
Very good.
Wow, scrolling on that browser is extremely slow.
they should of talked to Samsung to take care of their screen
Gaming Stream no because no one wants to have a car that blows up
so dumb
@@CreeperHQMCPE_ 😂
An excellent discussion of the Auto pilot functionality, best I have seen yet. The MX spec is what I will choose when RHD market design studio opens.
There it is! There it is! Another one! Another one!
I could really see myself putting something long in the trunk and smashing the screen in the center dashboard :D
+Tom Jacobs I think we will soon be able to find a knockout version of it on Taobao. The glass is not that fragile, either.
+Tom Jacobs im always puttin long stuff in the trunk
The falcon wing door looks really impractical, and the button instead of a handle setup too. Who wants to just press a button and wait?
JJ Warner me cuz im lazy
they need to make solar panels on the top of the teslas so that they can charge while your driving.
honestly solar panel technology isnt that good the amount of energy being made by is little to none compared to the amount being wasted
Joshua Gould actually a better idea that has been mention by Elon was using the spinning motion of the wheel and finding a way to convert that motion into energy that could charge the car.
+MBG HD lol, 1 month ago an internet armchair expert says this. Then Tesla announce they're doing extactly this - solar panel roofs.
Solar panel tech could certainly use some upgrades before I would try it on a car. The price has been dropping substantially, unfortunately not for the type that you would use on a car. These flexible panels, which are also lighter weight, suffer from a few key drawbacks that basically render them unusable for cars, namely:
1. Their watt density. Covering a typical SUV sized roof would yield only maybe 500 peak watts. That means in ideal sunlight conditions (midday sun, no clouds, no obstructions, average temperature, sun angle, etc), it would take 20 hours to charge 10 kWh or slightly over 10% of the Model X's battery space. And, as noted in this video, the Model X is not a full size SUV.
2. Their usable angles. You remember how I just talked about ideal sunlight conditions? Well for this type of panel, that's basically when the sun is exactly perpendicular to the panel. Do you know how often that is, in real world conditions? Almost never. Effective solar arrays make use of motors to point them at the sun, something totally not feasible on a car. In real world conditions, you would probably only get maybe 200 actual watts. Simply turning off the stereo would yield better results.
3. The cost and weight. So, for all that fuss, the cost would have to be cheap.... and it isn't. The solar panels themselves would easily cost $1000, then you have an expensive array of electronics to make sure the panels can actually charge the batteries at the correct voltage, that the batteries don't discharge into (and thusly explode) the panels, and a way to ensure the panels don't overcharge the batteries. Oh, and did I mention that these panels, and all these electronics, will easily add 100 pounds?
For the time being, you are MUCH better off creating a solar array with battery storage at your home and simply charging the car off that.
Joshua Gould its has power generators in the wheels that charge when they rotate. At some steep hills, the car actually charges more than it is using.
Fantastic product placement Denny's! Very impressive
I'm getting The fate of the furious vibes from this with its automatic features!! love it
the auto pilot would make it way easier to pass a driving test :P
lol
+Will Pearce shame autopilot is illegal in the uk
+Will Pearce really
+Oliver yep apparently the government haven't done the testing to make sure it's safe
+Will Pearce the two people I know who have AP on their Teslas don't trust it fully either. Best comparison is letting your 15 year old sibling drive. They can do it but you'd better keep an eye on them.
im pretty sure that's Bill Murray
+Chinboy --- That is exactly what I was thinking. I was looking for this comment.
That's what I wrote.😂
A younger Bill because Christian has less wrinkles, but they look SO similar that it's almost creepy.:O
I bet that cooler he had in the front trunk was a ghost trap.:P
how much time does it take to charge, from empty, to fully charged?
+Branen Machinen lmgtfy.com/?q=charge+time+tesla+model+x
Thanx :)
+Ross Brown that's petty
The Guy Who Owned U L ;)
I think it varies with the year and models
I came here from the "Adam Savage and Simone Giertz Make a Popcorn Machine!" video and then I see the screen at 32:37. What wizardry is this?
I wanna be best friends with this owner, not because of his cars but because of how nice he sounds
Don't know how glossy plastic gets out of the design room =/
Who knows how it got in
+MendezAS particularly since its back where the kids'll be sitting
"I've only had a couple of situations where it's tried to merge where I don't think it was safe and I've had to take control back from the car."
Oh well, that's OK then.
I wish we had Tesla's in my country😂
Sophie Makogon same!! Dream car
Sophie Makogon Import one ;)
In autopilot, regarding the graphical representation of the surrounding cars that change color from black to blue to RED....the blue car representation means that the sensors are using that car for partial autopilot control. It's tracking the blue car for auto pilot error correction other than purely and sole using the lane lines from camera data. Thanks for the video - Interesting even for a Tesla owner like myself.
I really appreciate this video... I might be a marxist that bemoans the elite financial status these cars imply at the moment, but the owner is gracious enough to show us plebians what the future of transportation might look like. I hope as a young person to maybe own a first generation Tesla after I complete my education and move into my professional field. These leaps in technology at least give me some level of confidence that our human society can survive the tribulations that technological uncertainty brings forth. Cheers to you all; we might disagree politically, but I have some level of faith that we will survive together. Long live our Earth and long live our species.
