Great 75,000 mile review! I enjoy hearing about how a car feels after years of ownership. The good and not so good. Honest look here. I would still own one!
You know was interesting going through the records, really looking at the road rash and all the damage from other people. But can’t deny it the car has held up pretty darn well thus far.
I recently traded last July my 2021 Tesla model three long range for a 2017 Tesla model X 100 D and have not looked back. This car has performed exceptional the only maintenance work that I’ve had done on it since it already had 65,000 miles was replace the front struts due to a leak which ended up needing both front ones to be replaced, I did buy a set of four new tires, I did the MCU upgrade and recently changed The front control arms. Other than that it has been running flawless. Right now it said that the original range was 295 and at 100% it’s about 250-260 or so miles. Late last year I did a round trip from Austin to South Carolina which was 2700 miles and I had no issues whatsoever, my stops were for about 20 to 30 minutes each if even that long. the only thing I wish is that Tesla would let the car charge at a faster kw speed than 150kw or 160kw was the most that I could charge. Now it has 75k miles and purrs like a cat. Three weeks ago I had it wrapped and you can see int on my channel. Will keep for about 3 years and then trade for a used refreshed model x.
2018 Model X owner, here, drove 100k miles with it. Fist of all, this car in the video must be a 2017 , because it wasn’t able to support streaming etc. About his issues: 1) tires? Normal consumption for me 2)”upper control arms” we call them different, but yes: I had to change all 4 at 60k mls 3) no rock chips for me and I drive in Europe (higher speeds) but I have the more expensive color. 4) zero leather issues! I think yours is real leather; I already have the “vegan leather “ 5) space for kids? I have 3: If it’s not enough for you in a model X, no other car will do! 6) Falcon wing doors? Absolutely zero issues! They can be easily reset if you have any problems (I did it once) 7) time for parts? Just like with any other brand! (I also own a BMW and waited 2 months for a spare part) 8) air suspension freezing? Never happened and had spent nights in the alps. on the other hand I had to change a leaking air suspension 1200$ Range loss? First of all that car when new was showing 420km range (262 miles) and not 300 miles!!! EPA ranges. The range of your car after 3 years was 250miles which is absolutely normal! What is concerning is that under your ownership it went down considerably! My 2018 XP100D, 100k miles, still shows 240 miles range. One thing that should be mentioned: with time, charging speed lowers and that’s worse than loss of range! As long as you range is an EPA of 185 miles you’re fine with finding Superchargers anywhere.
Upgraded the tech to MC2 or whatever Tesla calls it for I believe $1.6k, which is how it can stream. Otherwise appreciate you sharing all those thoughts!

Never use the Battery icon mileage. that is EPA rated. Energy app is very accurate.

Great honest video, thanks for sharing as we are looking to buy a used model x, on an other note the neighborhood looks great, do you mind sharing the city/county name? Thanks.
My Model X P100D Ludrious always have door issues when it is in hot sun. Front doors would only open an inch if they sense hot temperatures; and the Falcon Wing doors also refuse to open if the sensors on the doors sense approximately over 80F and I live in SF Bay Area where my local weather is about 80F to 100F during July to October months. It is a constant hassle, especially embarrassing when bystanders watch my family struggle to get either in or out of the car. Also rattle is annoying. Tesla uses lot of plastic pieces for its interior and exterior trims. The plastic pieces harden over time as they are exposed to sun and harsh weather, they creak and rattle when the Model X goes over uneven road surfaces. It is a bit annoying especially for an otherwise quiet electric car. My rear motor failed at 42,000 miles. It was repaired under warranty, else the cost originally quoted via the Tesla app was $6,700 USD. Good luck. I am trading in my Model X for the Lucid Gravity SUV once it will become available. Oh and there is no power frunk opening for a high-end car and if your hands are full, you have to put your stuff down on the floor, then get your app or the physical keys to have either the frunk lid or trunk lid open, a bit annoying when your hands are full. Also, after driving long distance for a trip, the frunk lid is dirty with insects, you have to wear gloves to open or close the frunk lid else your hands will be very dirty. And in hot weather, try touch the frunk lid, it burns your hands too. For such an expensive car, it lacks lot of basic features you find in other similarly prices vehicles. Poor Tesla quality as well, as I have six panels which are mis-aligned from day one. Tesla says cannot adjust them anymore without compromising other sides of the panels and create other issues. OMG. I took delivery due to I really wanted to show off to friends at that time 5 years ago. I do regret ordering the Tesla somehow due to its poor quality and lack of features that a pricey vehicle supposed to have. Oh, the Tesla Service Center is a sub-par experience too. Be ready to get you car back with lots of dirty interior and exterior. Every time, we can the car back after service it is very very dirty. The loaner cars from Tesla Service center are dirty too. Almost forget, front upper suspension failed twice ( a known defect of Model X performance models for 2020 years and before ). Rear brake light has water condensation and Tesla says it is "within specs" so Tesla refuses to fix. Give me a break.
@@reynoldwang2912 yeah I can relate to all of that too. I still don’t regret the X still drive that exact car to this day. Any idea if there's still issues with these in cold weather states? I've heard of issues with the door handles icing over and can't get in, poor battery performance in cold weather. It gets down to 0 and below all winter here ( 2-3 months of the year).

It was just in the shop for alignment and steering wheel controls, cost $700 to fix. Other than that, no new issues. Range is 200 miles max I would say. The inner tire wear is an issue. Just replaced my tires in Jan and the rears needed to be changed two weeks ago again for $850. I do drive a lot though. The head tech recommended I sell the car before my 8 year warranty is up if that tells you anything. Asked him point blank. New modern 100 KwH battery would cost almost $20k he said. You also cannot 179 depreciate a Y 80% this year, so consider that. And now that Tesla dropped prices below $80k you can get the $7.5k tax credit. Hope some of that helps.
