- Overnight In China's 5-Star Fake Paris Hotel - The Parisian Hotel Macau
My previous video from Xinjiang, China: • I Visited China's Most...
Macau, China: A city that is also known as the Las Vegas of Asia. The gambling capital of Asia, very popular for Chinese tourists. Macau is a special administrative region of China, same as Hong Kong as well. This is my 2nd time here in Macau and I wanted to stay in a very special hotel this time: The Parisian hotel Macau. A hotel that makes you feel like you're in Paris, France. They even have a fake Eiffel tower in front of the hotel, which looks pretty real. Let's check into this hotel, which is probably the most luxurious hotel I ever stayed at and see what the whole experience is like. I will also show you around the city of Macau and we'll meet my friends from the @JetLagWarriors.
This is the hotel where I stayed:

After having travelled to several different parts of China, what's your opinion(s) regarding the food, the people, the transportation, the infrastructure there? What about the cashless payment there? Will you be travelling to China again as it's a vast country?
Do you think China has become too commercialized, with many similar commercial streets in major cities? What is your view on these commercial streets? Would you visit China again? If so, where would you choose to go?

the room in Singapore Sand hotel are definitely better however this hotel has more facilities so it balance out in term of experience. I like that you are still hanging out with your peers. travelling together is always fun.
Do you find that the mainstream media portrays a totally different perspective of China than what you experienced? Did you find that the negativity around China is overblown?
Both big cities and small cities in China have basically gone through thousands of years of cultural accumulation. I hope you have fun in China. If you can, welcome to my hometown Hebei. Hebei surrounds Beijing and Tianjin. It has very convenient transportation and is the province with the most complete landscape in China.🎉

I have been lived Macau around 15 years, I can tell you, Macau people are much happier than Hong Kong people for one country and two political system, Macau has trived greatly and have benefited from it tremendously since united with mainland China. We are the pefect example for Taiwan
Yea... No apple daily, nor rich property developers worried that China will start phasing out the land auctioning system. What you see now, after the roach infestation a couple years back, are new residential development popping up all over HK 😂

It's indeed amazing to treat yourself to a luxurious and posh hotel after such hard work of filming and editing. You deserved it, Ken. Wow and more wow...what a super beautiful lobby !! A bunch of thanks for the room tour. It's nice, cozy, spacious but too bad that the bed is a bit hard for you. Anyway, thanks again for showing us around that "fake" Parisian Hotel....yeah, it's like we are in Paris, France...enjoyed tagging along 👍👏
The area you are in now is an economic corridor in China, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which is equivalent to California in the United States. There are three first-tier cities here, namely Hongkong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The new line has Dongguan, the second line has Huizhou with a population of nearly 70 million.
HK isn't officially a first tier city.

You get the overall sense that the hospitality and friendliness is genuine from both tourism workers and the civilians in China Ken?
The Eiffel Tower itself was built by an Australian company. I spent a good 2 yrs building the hotel there.
That’s so cool!
Its probably a chain hotel. There is a Paris Hotel in Vegas too, but from what I remember is they are not that high end.
Great and interesting sharing. Thank you Ken.👍👍👍😍😍😍
Ken, it is not a fake Paris hotel, it is a Paris-themed hotel-casino.
If you are going to Las Vegas in the US.
You will see themed hotels like Caesars Palace (Italian), and Luxor (ancient Egyptian )...
Totally agree! No matter how much he says that he likes about his time in China, his prejudice will always be there.
And this hotel was funded by Las Vegas Sands, an American company.
Exactly... maybe it's a german way to describe a theme hotel.

Thank you so much!😊
Kudos to you Ken, for your non-biased and open-minded reporting on modern-day China.
What we have forgotten was China and the US were allies in WW2.; in resisting Imperial Japan. The US highly subsidies China in hopes of encouraging democracy (Cheung Kai Shek). When China chose Communism as Mao took control, the two countries became bitter rivals.
Unfortunately, US' democracy today is as fake as the democracy once represented by Cheung Kai Sek.
Been to Macau many years ago. They didn’t have the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding development those days.
Macau is surely a place worth visit especially the casino area. It’s beautiful with the casino lights on after dark.
Macau is the best model of China’s one country two systems in operation.
The Portuguese just walk aways don't meddling make trouble after hand Macau back to China. Unlike the Brit can't leave HK alone keep instigate trouble after hand back to China.
I guess it’s quite a surprise for some stubborn westerners that the “Communist China” would support such a city to create its prosperity through gambling industry.😂

@@first-gordonchang9510 Which is why I guess China left Macau the way it was, with much less interference than it had with HK. You hardly hear about Macau in the news but HK was always on my TV screen from protests, to riots to I don't know what else.

Thx for sharing
City sure looks beautiful
Fun fact: Macau was a Portuguese colony. It was only handed back to China in 1999. And nextdoor to Macau is Hong Kong. They are both very close
Concession not colony
This area is not a colony. In fact, the Ming Dynasty and Portugal were once an alliance to deal with pirates in the South China Sea. This place was given to Portugal as a reward by the emperor at the time.

Messii said already!
The Portuguese is not as spiteful as the British over the handover!! 😂😂
Unlike the British who took Hong Kong as a spoil of the Opium War, Macau was leased from China in 1557 for payment of an annual rent. The Portuguese tried to change the leasehold status to one of Portuguese territory without success until 1887 when the Chinese agreed to recognise it as Portuguese. It was handed over to China in 1999.
Well said
The Portuguese had too much gold from Brazil and Africa. Macao was far. Keep thinking the English were worse than the Portuguese... hehehe
British Colonialism was responsible for many of our past and current political conflicts and animosities- case and point Isreal and Palestine ( Balfour Accords).
Hong Kong just as far! But was a money earner for British drug trafficking!
Cool video man! Is that the same Eiffel Tower Ali and Harry went to? In their videos it was all closed and boarded up
Different one, they went to one near Shanghai 😅
Hi,! Ken, I agree with you, last Friday and Saturday, I also stayed in the hotel Parisan😂😂❤
Just came across this set of videos for first time, after spending a few years watching other vloggers. Very impressed with the excellent presentation and you're so positive and friendly with local people etc and trying new things. We were in Macao last December and were amazed by the place and visited that hotel, just for a coffee, which was good. I didn't realise the price for a room was quite as reasonable, as we'd visited an hotel in Sanya (just for coffee) which was over 2000 yuan per night. Guess this was how Marco Polo reacted when he went to China, in 13th Century.
American here. We have that Eiffel Tower in Vegas where I just was. Part of the casino hotel Paris. Yet no one ever bothers to make a video titled fake Paris in vegas.
Yes, his title is a bit misleading
He has become little jealous these days. They more he explores China, the more he feels embarrassed because west is just hype, there is virtually nothing in the west that's comparable to China.
He is a little naive..like a frog looking up from a well..
Thank you!!! I just wrote the same thing. His western bias slips in sometimes and it’s quite irritating. The hotel is called the Parisian Macau hotel, why does he feel the need to continue to call it “fake Paris”? Smh
Not everyone is interested for America 😅but for Ken 😂👍who do have a meaning 😂
Caesar’s Entertainment owns both Paris hotels in Las Vegas and Macau. It’s interesting that nobody uses the word ‘fake’ to the one in Vegas, lol.
Yes it an American company that funded this hotel/casino. Macau is the only city in China where gambling is allowed.
Who knows... the guy's trying to click bait the haters for clicks 😂 it's all good
Yeah I thought he was referring to the Paris they built in a random town in China 😂. But I lived in Vegas for a long time and live in Beijing now so I am interested because I wanna go there soon!

I'm glad you were excited. But that hotel room was a very standard hotel room. Like a Marriot. The lobby was beautiful though.
Yeah…I was expecting more in regard to the hotel room.
The Parisian is actually one of the lower priced hotels in the Cotai strip. 😂 The rooms are relatively small compared to some of the other hotels.
Thank you for showing Macau.
The trio🎉🎉🎉
I've watched many videos taken from you about China and they were really interesting and informative.
I think I could make up my mind to go back to my own country and make it even more beautiful.
I was in south part of Germany and I was shocked by the travelling experience close to Lindau and Friedrichshafen, where these were all quite beautiful cities with Alps as backgrounds and Bodensee.
High Tech places + Nature, wish me I can do that and make that happen also in China.
Hmm after watching your video, i said to myself: I think the intention wasn't to copy, i feel like the people who built that place visited Paris and fell deeply in love with it, they even have the history of the Eiffel Tower!
Dude it's a theme hotel man, like the Paris hotel in Vegas. One owned by Ceasers entertainment and the other by Sands. Both American companies. This ain't the 80s, the Chinese ain't into copying other cultures any more. They have their own to be proud of. Don't you see all them videos of those ladies in ancient song and Han dynasty outfits.
Seems to be great episode, going to watch 😊
To be honest I'd rather stay in the fake Macau Paris than the 2024 real Paris. Those who went to Paris recently know.
Bullshit. Unbelievable city. Some small areas are pretty bad but no need to be anywhere near these parts. World class culture, food, entertainment venues, shopping, luxury hotels …… Olympics will be amazing.
Too much UA-cam probably . Always making places look worse than they are.
@@JohnSmith-sm7ez I literally live in Paris I know what I'm talking about. I've seen the situation worsen over time. The Olympics are basically a meme here in France because of how unprepared the city is.

@@yunlongli2771 good to know. Thanks
8:48 The beds in China are traditionally hard but I wouldn’t necessarily assume it would be so there! Good to know.
As others said, it’s more of a Paris-themed hotel than a fake version of the city itself… it’s cool to see that besides the bed, the quality seems the same as in Vegas!
Appreciate this video & the transparency about paying for the view.
Chinese people prefer harder beds to soft ones because the former are kind of ergonomic, preventing your back from sagging all night. :)
When you sleep on a soft mattress, your body may sink too deeply into the surface, causing your spine to curve unnaturally. This can lead to back pain, muscle stiffness, and joint discomfort. But if you are already suffering from back pain, then a soft mattress do provide more relief for these people. People who sleep on their stomach and back tends to prefer firm bed and those who sleep on their sides, soft bed.
There's nothing "fake" about the Parisian Hotel in the same way there isn't anything fake about the Brandenburg Gate in your native Germany, even though it's a copy the Propylaea of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The hotel is owned by Las Vegas Sands (which has a similar property in Vegas); replicating famous monuments is not unique to China, yet the term "fake," driven by racist stereotypes, is only associated with China in the westerner's mindset.
Room is certainly vey nice. But, somehow, I was expecting it to just blow my mind; it doesn't seem to. I was thinking of hotels in Quebec or Banff. The $150 charge it rather inexpensive. Looks very hazy. Is that fog or smog? Great vid, as usual.
Reminds me of the Marriott I stayed in Jakarta Indonesia
Hey Ken, big fan of your content! 29:34 is actually a pickled daikon radish! It's not traditionally taiwanese, mostly found in Japanese or Korean foods.
😊also in Chinese foods, like pickled cucumber, mustard head
Pickled daikon radish醃蘿卜 is a traditional Chinese food. It is also the technique of Chinese food. Only ancient China has this food.
Today "fake"Japanese and Korean food are mixed with traditional Chinese food and other countries.
Traditional Japanese food is only fresh seafood, sushi, and (white rice and noodles with Chinese food).
Traditional Korean food is only fresh seafood. (White rice and kimchi is Chinese food).

My paternal grandmother was born in Macau and married my grandfather in Guangzhou. I have relatives in Macau, HK, Guangzhou, Shanghai and different cities of USA. I’ve been to Macau in 2001 right after the handover from Portugal. My paternal uncle (my father’s cousin) was a senator in the 1999 handover ceremony in Macau. If you watch the handover ceremony in 1999 and the inauguration ceremony, you can see a tall and slim male with gray hair. That is my paternal uncle. When we were in Macau visiting my paternal relatives, there weren’t as many casinos. Now they added more casinos. The food is still Cantonese cuisine but with some Portuguese twist, such as the Portuguese egg tart (a little sweeter than the Cantonese egg tart version).
