    Unbelievable results! The only "old" polaroid film I've gotten to play with was some type 80 color packfilm that expired in the 80s (got like half a picture), and some swinger roll film that expired in the 70s (no results unfortunately, but I made a video about the format and trials!). Rollfilm is so cool because it really wouldn't be that hard (chemically) to recreate. I experimented with just that last summer but ran into problems with making the pods to hold chemicals. Looking forward to packfilm videos! FP-100c was the film that really got me into photography in general, and I was devastated when fuji discontinued it. I've still got one pack in the fridge for some special occasion though. Also love the When I'm 64 reference, that's one of my fav songs! Thanks so much for the videos this week, they're keeping me going through all of this craziness.

    Thank you for these vod. I just found a bunch of different old Polaroid cameras in my dad’s garage and I found one of these cameras. Here’s to finding workable film!!

    Roll film was the first Polaroid film, released in sepia tone only in 1948/49. Pack film came out wiith the first pack film camera (Automatic 100) in 1963. Polaroid roll film was discontinued in August 1992. I still have some unused type 47 from 1992. Someone should bring iit back! Those old roll film cameras were so well made, and still so many of them around. I also have a Pathfinder 110 B converted to take pack film. Also an amazing camera.

    Very cool to see some Polaroid 42 shots actually turn out! Have not seen the Polaroid roll film shoot well before. Love using those cameras for 4x5 and peel apart (fp100c) film though, eg from Alpenhaus, etc. I rented one from Film Objektiv years ago and love how it’s a compact 4x5 rangefinder! 😃❤️🎞

    The camera models that used that roll film, and the early versions of the film itself (initially only in black and white) came out in 1948. Roll was the only Polaroid film you could get into the mid-1960s (the Swinger, Polaroid's big consumer camera from 1965-1970, used a smaller roll format). Pack film cameras were cheaper to produce, easier to load, easier to operate, and development took place entirely outside the camera, so you could (if needed) shoot faster. Roll films were still in production, however, when the first integral films were introduced, coincident with the SX-70 camera in 1972.

    If you want to see Polaroid Roll film in use, watch the "Snap Judgment" episode of the TV series "M*AS*H," where it was "the bee's knees" in the early 1950's.;) mash.fandom.com/wiki/Snap_Judgement_(TV_series_episode)
    My experience with Polaroid Roll film was with a Polaroid 110B that had been adapted to take Polaroid Pack film. I vaguely remember the "use the coater on the finished print" exercise on Polaroid black-and-white prints. (A Polaroid 250 Pack Film camera of the early 1960's.)

    Hey a really cool Polaroid pack film camera is the 360 - it was the first with electronic flash with automatic exposure. The rangefinder couples to vanes inside the flash that regulate light output. It uses built in Ni-Cad batteries that charge with a charger- really advanced stuff for 1969! You can replace the long dead rechargables with a AA battery pack glued to the outside.

    Good job noah, I always love your video, I learn a lot about analog photography from you, and this roll instant film is AMAZING!! Please do more video about this! An analog photography system that is ver unique (like the polaroid izone, nishika 3d camera, or even 110 film) but please upload your polaroid packed film video! I’ve been waiting for your peel apart polaroid video:( its been a year since you promise will make a video about it in your analog gear tour video:(

    Wow man, I long to experience shooting this stuff. I got so close with some Polaroid swinger film but the chemicals were just dry enough that it didn’t work properly, even though the first one had actual paste in the pod.

    Great video, ive got like 3 rolls of the stuff but im pretty sure its not going to work like this. If you have more you should borrow a 110 or 110A.
    Really looking forward to more on this.

    I have five 40 series cameras, the 95A, 100, 110A, 800 and the 900, I converted the 800 and the 900 to pack film, one with a old Colorpack 5 camera and from a passport camera. I used a few rolls of some 42 I got back in 2003, and got some neat results with them. I used the 800 so I can use flash with FP-100C film that was easier to use than my ProPack. If you want to see those photos I took, check out my Flickr at Cadha13. The last man shooting Polaroid at Conventions.

      It's a special like chemical coating that would come with old packs of polaroid instant film like the roll film or peel-apart stuff. It's a coating that helps to protect the print from fading over time once it's been developed. Like the black and white stuff can turn brown unless it's been coated!

    • @mdanie4756
      @mdanie4756 4 роки тому

      and this is why people used to shake polaroids - to speed up drying of the coating so it wouldn't stick to things. No idea why people feel the need to shake integral film - I blame OutKast :-)

    they complain that bringing back PACK FILM is impossible because the machines that make up the packs are too complicated and Fuji won''t sell theirs. So why don't they instead start making roll film again? It seems much less complicated to produce !!!
