It's so satisfying to Watch and Soothing to Listen to -a treat for Railfans!! However, it's sad to see the sorry state of condition. I hope things improve in future.
This is Crazy… In any other country, the line would have been closed long ago. Nothing would run there until the damage had been repaired. Some museum railways run by volunteers are in a better condition.
It's sad, but I experienced a similar situation in Czechoslovakia on the main line between 1981 and 1990, it wasn't that bad, but it was pretty close. (sorry, it's Google translation)
This deserves to be the most popular video of your channel so far since the previous bad rail joint related video was extremely popular but was shorter, plus this has the got the ASMR quality that one railfan can think of while relaxing!😇
All around the world there are many, many railway branches abandoned or with lack of maintenance. There are many reasons why derailment. This is one of the most common. A disaster, then, occurs... And nobody in the superior government take cards in the matter and all of the politicians and the Railway Authorities collect such a big salaries... Also the suppliers... Best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
OMG - that's really horrible! And one derailment every week sounds really bad. However, I would suspect that this route was particularly bad. With the best will in the world, I can`t imagine that this is the general condition of the railway lines in Serbia. But no matter: Greetings from a colleague from Germany ;-)). BTW: Merry Christmas to Serbia ;-)).
@@whatnow9288 When I just saw it again and I noticed that the whole problem is because they have the wrong joint bar. It should have compromise bars because they have two different rail heights and there is only one bolt on one side. That's why it pounds over the joint so bad. It looks like they did that a lot as evident of all the broken bars. Every action has a reaction.
This reminds me so much of your old video of the tracks through Topcider that went across the old railroad bridge over the Sava river . And also the one track that went up to the old main train station that is now a museum.
Are the rails over bridges as bad? A train could derail into the Danube. All the thumps and bangs will damage the tyres of the wagons - I'm surprised neighbouring countries will accept trains from Serbia's railways or allow their wagons to use Serbian rails.
Это тихий ужас, в каком состоянии пути - накладки все поломаны, болты креплени к шпалам все повыкикавали, вы ждёте окончательного каллапса ? Сходы - обычное дело?
This is one of the worst tracks I've ever seen but I did see one posted online here in the US of a town that had a track that went through a residential area and that thing was crooked and had so many ups and downs and bumps that it just blew my mind that the train could actually stay on it. I believe they finally replaced it. It is amazing how bad a tract can be that the train actually stays on it. These tracks you are showing will eventually cause a derailment, it's just a matter of time.
How did you manage to sneak under the carriages as they were passing by? Judging by the camera shake, you must've held the camera by yourself. Or maybe you had some sort of a selfie stick? Answer me please, I'm curious
Is it possible that the rocks on 16:30 are white/shiny and not rough because of constant friction at jumping of the sleepers, and the water that gets trapped in there?
Com a railfan, m'encanta el soroll dels trens al rodar sobre les vies. Però el teu vídeo m'ha posat molt nerviós i trist. As a railfan, I love the sound of trains rolling over the tracks. But your video made me very nervous and sad.
With the translator from German to English: The rails are the return current conductor on electrified railways. The electrical conductivity of the rail is disturbed at rail joints. That's why a longitudinal connector must be installed there as a replacement connection. In this case you can clearly see what happens if the longitudinal connector is missing or poorly attached. There are arcs. Normally, at least here in Germany, there always have to be two return conductors. This seems to be missing here too. Quite dangerous because you could tap a voltage at that point that almost corresponds to the overhead line.
Norway’s railway network has always been in a poor state on age-old track at non-competing speeds but they almost seem heavenous when compared to the majority of Balkan/Serbian railways where speeds and frequency are 4x lower and with this exact thing here being a regular occurrence in the country/countries. Glad COKO is making progress.
The problem with SOKO is that it's a classical "prestige project" - a small but over-engineered project that is over-built at a much too high cost. This should be fairly clear, looking at the resources available and the needs of Serbia and the region. The end result is what you see in the video: most of the infrastructure fully dilapidated and with no maintenance, and a few dozen kilometers of high speed rail that don't really bring much benefit, as the segments are too short and there is no network effect...
I have always wondered why the trains used to make this sound (and they still do) in my town (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil) but not in other places when I watched POV videos. Now I know hahaha
Unapred hvala .
The Serbia railway network is in a sorry state in some important relations. It has to change. Novi Sad-Belgrade had a complete reconstruction and speeds are 200 km/h. If a line recorded in this video get concrete sleepers and 60 kg/m rails, speeds can increase a lot from only 25 or maximum 40 km/h to around 100.

I’m surprised at not just the lack of maintenance, but the fact that some of those rails are just straight up broken! How does the signaling work??

What a guilty pleasure for a railway track engineer to watch this! 😁
He would look at that and say I have job security here.

The rail looks a bit flat actually.what part of the UK is that mate?
What's the chance of derailment at these speeds? Would be a major industrial accident if that loco hauling sulphuric acid tankers came off the rails.
