The Shi are the feudal faction you seek. The shogunate basically sounds like a northern version of the Shi. but Japanese & more of what you'd call it. how'd you forget that (i speak like if I haven't just meet them in Fallout 2) but they have peasants. An upper class of Scientists & guards. As well as an emperor.

My take on New Orleans set in Fallout that it would be a major trading hub, taking advantage of the massive amount of commerce that goes up and down the Mississippi River like it had once did during the Old West. I imagine the new city being built on top of the flooded remains of the old one, like a post apocalyptic Venice

I'm telling ya'll, a Fallout game set in the Hawaiian archipelago is literally gift wrapped for you in terms of setting variety and conflict. Three way factional cold war between the descendants of the massive US military presence there, the native Hawaiians, and the various Asian ethnicities lead mostly by the Chinese. The football team I'd literally called The Hawaiian Raiders! Have you seen how awesome and intimidating gourd helmets are!?

    Oh, Canada...
Sometime last year, I ran a GURPS Fallout campaign that was set in the Toronto area around the time of Fallout 2, kind of using that to fill in the blanks as to how Ronto (as mentioned in Fallout 3's Pitt DLC) came to be as a formidable regional power. I had the door open for up to three pre-established Fallout factions to have minor presences (Enclave, Midwest Brotherhood, Institute), though it mostly revolved around the local factions in something of a nation-building game depending on the player's actions as an Emissary:
    - Scarlets: a military faction of ghoulified former Canadian Militia and RCMP, led locally in what used to be Southern Ontario by Commissioner Elizabeth Mackinaw. Long-time veterans and equipped predominantly as light infantry, they fulfill a Minutemen-like function - while technically capable of conducting patrols and security for various communities in the area, they're stretched thin due to lack of supporting infrastructure and personnel, and so many of the quests involving them are about expanding those capabilities (i.e. capturing and restoring the Molson Brewery for medical supplies and morale purposes) or shoring up gaps in their patrols from time to time. Should the Emissary choose to nation-build, the Scarlets are the most readily available recruitable faction, with individual members expressing how they feel about the Emissary's decisions in accordance with their history both before and after the war.
    - Church of the Maple Leaf: A cult formed around the bastardized idolization of the Toronto Maple Leafs, believing them to be one of many ancient orders of holy warriors charged with defending the Grail of Stanley among other fabled relics. In addition to using Hockey terms in manner of speech and sermon, the warrior members of their following are particularly well-known for using hockey sticks modified into fearsome war scythes. Despite this, they also have a reputation as peacekeepers, particularly in the Downtown area of Ronto. They may be approached for brokering a peace agreement for the purposes of nation-building, especially with regards to two other factions in the area who have a bitter rivalry.
    - Jays & Raptors: two rival Diamond City-like groups within Ronto engaged in a protracted low-intensity turf war over the Downtown area. Any nation-building in Ronto will require the Emissary to either resolve this conflict or wipe out at least one of them.
The Jays, taking their name and verbiage from the baseball team, call the Skydome their home, and make use of baseball equipment as signature armaments. They've become especially fond of converting ball hoppers into grenade launchers in recent years. The Raptors in turn occupy the former Rogers Stadium (which they now call the Nest), and have managed to breed deathclaws as war beasts and heavy manual labour for the past 30 years or so. How this came to be is a mystery for the player to figure out, though suffice to say that it involves a matriarch with an unusual fascination with the pre-war sport of Basketball.
    - Barony of Scarbor: A neo-feudal society claiming lordship out of Scarbor Castle (what used to be the Scarborough Town Center) on Ronto's east side. These descendants of medieval and renaissance re-enacters, including self-styled knights, are more accustomed to tending to their own affairs than dealing with the rest of Ronto outside of trade, and are technically a distant vassal of King's Town (formerly Kingston) further up the coast of Lake Ontario. The Barony may be difficult to sway for nation-building, but can be recruited if the Baron (or his replacement) is given enough incentive to break free of their overlord.
    - Huron Confederacy: The descendants of local First Nations tribes that survived the war and since took the opportunity to reclaim their ancestral lands (they predominantly occupy a swathe of rural territory west of Ronto). They and the Scarlets tend to steer clear of one another due to long memories of previous transgressions. While not necessarily as outwardly visible as previous depictions of tribals in Fallout have been, and not as monolithic as the name suggests, the Confederacy is overall very wary of any attempt at nation-building, and as such aren't a recruitable faction. With that said, depending on the Emissary's actions, it is possible to procure an alliance with them for an end-game battle (or wipe them out as a sneering imperial).
    - Forge Tyrants: A raider group much like the Forged from Fallout 4, and one the Emissary can join if intending an evil run (especially a "Dark" nation-building one, which will in turn lock the Emissary out of recruiting most of the other factions, let alone allying with the Confederacy). They're organized around the steel mill and foundries in Mill Town (formerly Hamilton) to Ronto's immediate southwest, and have slaver associations with the Pitt.
    - Waterloo: The walled-off remains of what used to be the university city of the same name. Both technologically advanced and exceptionally isolationist, very few people know what goes on inside this illusive city of lights. Some who claim to be exiles speak of monstrosities beyond the wildest imaginations of any wastelander, while others claim marvels above and beyond what was achieved in the pre-war period. In any case, it will take a concerted effort by the Emissary to figure out the truth for themselves, and harder still to procure an alliance with them if they succeed (they are the only other non-recruitable local faction). Functionally, they may borrow elements of the Big MT and the Institute, though the faction itself was more inspired by Dead Sound's Autodale series.
As stated before, the basis for this kind of game is centered around the establishment of a post-war nation, and how the Emissary's actions shape its development. The inclusion or exclusion of certain factions, and how much influence each are given, will have considerable impact on how Ronto shapes up moving forward, and not just in getting everyone to accept the Emissary as the undisputed King of Ronto with a throne at the top of the CN Tower. Be it by finding common cause to band together or by force of conquest, that's all in the Emissary's hands if they so choose.
In some ways, this would be akin to having the player create a successful Commonwealth Provisional Government.
If translating my tabletop campaign into an actual videogame, I'd go with the action and some settlement building from Fallout 4 with Fallout New Vegas' social interaction and faction mechanics. I'd also say that keeping power armour rare would be a must, with the rarest and most advanced suits available outside of Brotherhood/Enclave faction exclusives being T-51 at best. Similarly with energy weapons apart from flamethrowers. Also, given the presence of multiple factions with melee-centric preferences and/or a proclivity to repurpose sports equipment as weapons, an expansion of those options would be particularly good to see as well.

My idea for a fallout game would be in the Carrabin. The story is that your a privateer who gets left for dead on a raid on the Haitian republic or some other island in the Caribbean. The early game is around getting revenge on the guys that left you for dead and the rest is basically blowing up other ships and securing naval dominance over the gulf of Mexico.
Aside from independent pirate ships, there will also be the Caribbean pirates association, basically a pirate union. There are also independent settlements that may or may not help you out considering you are a pirate. For more organized factions, there's the brotherhood-enclave alliance. This faction consist of whatever was left of the enclave and the local brotherhood chapter. Their reason for existing is because of the fact that just about everyone hates them and every now and then the region is hit by a nuclear hurricane. They have the best loot and are the strongest, but are kind of trapped in what is left of Puerto Ricco. Next is Cuba. Cuba is Cuba. They own Cuba and some of the neighboring Islands. They also took over Guantanamo bay from the enclave/brotherhood and turned it into a naval base. There are also smaller Island factions. The biggest of these is Haiti, which barely managed to avoid being turned to glass due to it not really being a target to anyone. Its basically the only true neutral faction, normally only fighting the pirates that try to raid them. They will give quarter to surviving prates explaining why your not dead. This neutrality also leads to many refugees incoming from other areas, also meaning that everyone in the country hates each other. Then there the new Colonials and The Benelux Trade Company, AKA, the English (specifically) and the Dutch. At the minimum there a bunch of European guys who want to relive the glory days of them colonial empires. over the course of the game, assuming the player doesn't intervene, they'll annex small villages on the coast and eventually try to go against the larger factions. This war goes nowhere because the 3 aforementioned groups will be able to wage a war against them, of not hold them off until further notice. Perfect for both people who are British and into the monarchy, and complete sadists. Absolutely horrible for literally everyone else. Some other factions are New Dixie, Texas, Whatever Mexican factions that have been established in the lore somewhere outside the games and have naval access to the ocean, and mutant mer-people. Also the Kraken.
Gameplay wise, You'll be managing a fleet to take on the seas. You can add new ships, upgrade them, and send them off on independent expeditions to get loot or to simply repair. Ships will range from small fishing boats with a swivel gun to refitted ships from pre war America. Playing into this, AI fleet composition will depend on the tech of that faction. Pirate will be your stereotypical sailors. Cuba, Haiti, and other minor organized Islands will have a mix of older pre war destroyers and cruisers along side small steam ships. European, Texan, and Dixie ships will be Ironclads and steam ships. The "American" ships will be fully modernized vessels, either recovered of fresh from the ship yards, considering they have the best tech. Weather will also play into effect, being the wind, radiation storms, and literal hurricanes. In combat, the busk of it will be taking on the fleets of the enemy and broadsiding each other until someone hits the ammo or engine and can start boarding the enemy ship. After that, head to the nearest port to recover and crack a cold one with the crew. Speaking of crew, you will need to pay them, feed them, and give them good returns. Not paying the crew makes them slack on the job outside combat. An unfed crew does worse in combat. Bad results impact how fast they complete AI raids. You will also have bases that you control and develop like fallout 4.
In terms of multiplayer, there is already many similarities to sea of thieves, given the raiding, and different factions. I'll let the community decide on this one.
TL;DR everyone live on boats and everything sucks. Good Luck!

    Some of my ideas:
    - A spin-off in Japan using Fallout 4 as a base, similar to New Vegas, since America and Japan are rather close allies, and it seems that this was true in FO as well.
    - A spin-off set somewhere on the great lakes, with 'naval' factions using the lakes as trade routes, maybe set in Chicago. I like the idea of the great lakes being Post-War America's equivalent to the bronze age Mediterranean.

I would like a game set in Chicago that could act as a bridge between the west and & east coasts of the wasteland with the game taking place in the after match of Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 (maybe 35 years after FNV as by that point House would be strong but not overpowered) with Mr House & the Minutemen wining in each game respectively as by doing so in Mr House case it allows himself a great character to be part of the story and shows what his plans would look like in practice rather then just talking about them (I have written up something of a what if based on the actions House might take if he did win if anyone is interested in hearing my thoughts) and will allow the other superpowers of the south west the NCR and Legion to exist and react to the changes around them and the reason why the Minutemen would win as by the record of going for the "Best Good Karma" ending of fallout games the Minutemen would allow for the Railroad and Brotherhood to exist allowing for different storytelling idea of how they would interact.
The reason for both sides to come to Chicago would be due to the fact that the enclave has an outpost in the city, a faction that has attempted to destroy the wasteland before and via ED-E and records from the Airforce base House and the Brotherhood would learn of the outpost and wanting to stop any plans the Enclave might have and set out to destroy the Enclave only for it to become a stalemate with an Enclave outpost turned city fortress and dealing with each other any other factions that would allow the larger ones and then after act 3 Vault-tec returns having set up everything to destroy the larger factions in one move as become the big bad of the game.

A fallout game in China would be an interesting take. I've thought of the idea for a long time and always wanted to write a story up for it but never could find the place to do it. But I'm thinking of this China is currently reliving the age of colonisation. the main government that took control after the fall is called the Dynasty, they have a strong foothold and act as the local government. There leadership is held by one princes, who desires industry and to crush all the enemies in the homeland. He fought in the "Khan Wars" and was changed from the traumatic experience and hopes for a war to never happen again, though his examples are bloody and his treatment towards the peasantry is cruel. He claims he does it for the good for the future generations. His Father the Emperor is a old man he tried to convince his son to change but his ideals, but the prince rejected the thought of change and kept heart to his ideals.
The other faction powers are a few factions from other nations. The Japanese have recently been seen a foothold in Dynasty land, they call themselves the Shoto Marines. These marines follow a strong military doctrine but also have a strong religious zealous to them as well. They claim, they will not return home until there Shogun is pleased. They work similar to the BOS, zealots who are far from home and believe there cause is divine and the Dynasty is a cruel tyranical power.
The Mongol people who lost the "Khan War" where able to keep some land thanks to the Emperor, this is one of the reasons why the Prince was angered by his father. The Emperor hoped to bring a good relationship to the Dynasty provinces. Until a military force raided and sacked the territory given to them, the survivors claimed it was soldiers from the Dynasty but the Prince claimed no such thing. Angered by this the Mongol's went to the powers of the west for support gaining reinforcement from the nearby Russian kingdoms. Though the Mongol people claim there here for there protection, a secret invasion is in the works with the Russians.
The Ghouls of the land where born from the aftermath and the destruction of the bombs dropped and hate grew when the "Khan War" happened. A Ghoul monk claimed to have a vision of a bright future, that someday a man shall change the land and make it theres. This monk believed the vision was his and rallied together the ghoul population to stand against the stronger powers, this group calls themselves the Golden Chosen. They so far have a weak foothold on territory but seek to spread out and iradiate all so they may become chosen under the Ghoul Monks eyes. When the player appears, he see's he is a threat for his actions has changed the influence of the world more then his own, and throughout the game grows jealous of him.
And last the French. They are called the Republic of the Chalice. These warriors are in most conflict against the Shoto Marines, unlike them they lack the zealous vigor and instead are prideful and patriotic. But like the Shoto forces are seeking a foothold within China maybe even building a new capital there. The warriors have a vibe from soldiers when Napoleon reigned, rank and file and unflinching against threats. Though they may claim to be in China for mere resources the actual truth is that France was devastated by deasise and a failed revolution. These are just the survivors fleeing from the hellscape they crawled out of.
You the player are the deciding factor on what these major powers will fall and rise. How you start is similar to Vegas, you find this rare artifact a key to unlock a powerful tool to change the landscape forever. But first you have no clue what it even is, and the person that almost killed you for it, knows its power and all it holds. Thus you go on to get your revenge but also discover the key and what it leads to. If anyone wants to hear more about the factions specifics like the military, units etc. I would love to divulge.

I mean im abit afraid of if they try to put Monarchy VS Republic in the games. For i know they gonna butcher it
But if i got to choose it then. The game would be set north Dekota where a Empire has risen based around the Prussia mainly due to a revival of German pride in the region. The Empire is known as the Red Barony and is ruled by a Baroness. The state is decently stable thanks to security given by the army tho some corrpution still exists with governors of far away provinces abuses their powers to profit from the suffering of their subjects.
The Republic like lets say NCR but exspanded eastwards, Is a large blobb but is well liked by the populace due to the freedoms given to them by the republic. Their military tho is the worst bit bloated with consripts that is thrown against the Barony's armies in almost human wave tactics.

I think a Fallout game based on the Texas/Mexican border near San Antonio would be interesting. Have a lot of both Western and Mexican influences in the culture of the game with a radio station that only plays 50s western swing and a station that only plays 50s Mexican polka, or Conjunto Norteño, and then a station that plays a mix of both with 50s rockers like Buddy Holly and Ritchie Vallens thrown in too. Maybe you'd have to get a bilingual perk to use terminals or conduct business on the southern side of the border, depending on your intelligence level.

Whatever the setting would be , the world needs to be living and breathing in my opinion. So much wouldn’t happen in the fallout games if the player character just don’t interact with quests/npc-s. For example, in the first real quest in new vegas, nothing will happen if you just leave and never talk to ringo or Cobb. Even if you kill Cobb, his gang won’t attack until you get to that point in the quest. In my opinion, a timer needs to start from the moment Cobb storms out the saloon. If you don’t do anything, he and his gang will march into town. There could even be a small confrontation where depending on your charisma(or speech) , you could convince them to not go through with the attack. Or if you don’t have a high enough skill , you could suggest giving up Ringo. In that moment, the town would probably give him up with maybe the exception of Sunny. For that to work, Cobb and his gang would need to be more formidable and deadly, as to make a realistic threat to the player. And this is just one part of a small quest. Imagine the possibilities with this 😄

I'd personally like a story of a new Fallout to indulge in the Lovecraftian substories that Bethesda like to dabble with. I would like for a game or either the Television series to push the Main Character out of the vault that they would start in, to get driven out by some entity that falls under their Lovecraft theme maybe a vault run by an "Overseer" who the Dwellers see as a "Normal" human Overseer, but the dwellers minds are affected by this entity and somehow the MC notices with some sort of interference, such as Chem use or maybe the V.A.T.S actually targets and decrypts this mind effect that the Overseer has cast, and they see them for who they actually are and they attempt to escape the vault. I'm not sure if this would be a good main story but maybe a nice sub-story of a new Vault. But if it is a main story, the MC could escape the vault by some means and try to convince the factions in the region of this problem, maybe it could be a way to implement the Enclave into begining the purging of the vaults that we see in the beginning of Fallout 2, because they find out about this Vault and it's Overseer and they gain a belief that the Vaults are experiments controlled by these "Overseer's" are evil. Then they rationalize this purge by believing that these Dwellers in the Vaults should be eradicated, along side their belief of wiping out any radiation effected mutant with minds weak enough to controlled. Let's be fair 90%+ of the mutants found in the wastes are hostile towards most living creatures and could be seen as another "evil". But then again I'm biased towards the Enclave. 😆
Great videos, I've been on a binge and I believe you are one of the best content creators on Fallout at the moment that doesn't just bash the series. I'll stand by for more videos, keep them coming!

I have helped a friend develop a setting for a D&D fallout game set around lake Erie about 20 years after fallout 4. I made the setting because I love doing world building stuff and fallout is my favorite series- my friend is running a campaign in it and doing any new mechanics for a fallout Tabletop rpg based in the main D&D system.
but they just started, so I don't think I'll get any opinions on this game setting anytime soon. I really think it would work pretty well as a real fallout game, though the map would be a bit bigger than even fo76. I would love to send the idea to you, but idk how.

I like the fallout in Washington idea but I think Instead of ghouls it should be the Yakima nation, which would be the Yakima tribe coming together with other tribes to form a government which mainly patrols the roads of southern and mid Washington and have a war between the wash. bos and the wash. Enclave chapters on the coast plus I could totally see of Instead of mainly vaults it had more of Chinese camps which would've been similar to the real Japanese camps in the 40s but mainly run down/raider infested but hey I'm just spit balling these ideas

I think I've got a rather unique take on a Fallout game.
Setting: Niagara Falls Us and Canada. DLC for Buffalo, Toronto, and a smaller trip out to the Adirondacks similar to Honest Hearts.
Plot: You start by selecting which side of the river you were born on Canadian or American. After the great war, Canadian nationalists steadily developed their territory believing that America had doomed the world and seeing Canada as a superior nation that didn't deserve to be taken over.
Meanwhile on the American side thanks to the advanced works of Nikola Tesla (who did in fact develop the hydroelectric dam there and spent a lot of time inventing there) the Americans develop their own highly fortified and well-kept city-state. The two nations are at the brink of war both wanting total control of the river and access to the resources or technology the other has.
You are a normal citizen of one of these two sides. You get to play through your childhood picking your skills and traits by how you live your life. All the while you get subtle propaganda to make the other side sound like the enemy. The final part of the opening is you being picked for a caravan based on your best traits (so maybe you're the muscle, or a merchant, or maybe you're just the group's good-luck charm). While far from your home the caravan is attacked and you are now free to roam the wastes and try to make it home.
There are a few villages and towns peppered around that you can stop at and get their input on the conflict. Whenever you make it home (or managed to get across the river and reach the other capital) you are told that tensions are at an all-time high and things could get very bad very soon. As someone who traveled the wastes, you have a chance to join forces or act to end hostilities peacefully.
Returning factions: Only faction coming back is the NCR, and only in reference. After the battle of Hoover dam (where the NCR wins in my timeline), they have sent communications to Niagara Falls seeking information about hydroelectric dams and ways to improve the systems based on Tesla's work. There would be some old-world government stuff, but I don't think it should be enclave.
DLC: I don't have much to say on Toronto, but I know it's been wanted for some time so this is a good place for it. Buffalo would be a much more dense urban wasteland intended as an end-game area for wastelanders who want a challenge, but I have no unique story ideas for there. The Adirondacks would be a big change of pace with a huge largely natural area, but just because the land is clean doesn't mean the people aren't dangerous. So many resources have drawn in a lot of people and everyone wants a slice of the pie. You can side with the factions back home to set up supply lines, those who already lived there, raider, or any number of other people that want some of the ADK.

Sounds really cool! The idea of choosing a side a the beginning of the game sounds incredibly interesting. Throughout the childhood sections, you'd be exposed to propaganda as you had said in addition to only learning the good things about your side, but as you begin to explore the region and experience more of the world, you learn more about the two major sides, specifically the good things of the side you didn't pick and the bad things of the side you did pick. With some major moral dilemmas that are much more gray than what New Vegas had, you'd eventually have to choose to either stay on that side or betray your friends and comrades... or you could join the third faction, because there's always a faction that doesn't really have any collective moral ideals and is just there for some mechanical gameplay reason (I'm talking to YOU, Preston Garvey!) yet you can still ride out with them to the game's credits...
God, Preston, you're such a yes man... Even Yes Man was better at not being a yes man! And his sole existence is to be exactly that!

I think fallout has so much untapped spin-off ideas, unfortunately you'd need to hand the IP to anyone but Bethesda in order for them to see the light of day.
I'd love a Frank Horrigan FPS Doom-style game, but bethesda already owns doom so it'd make no sense.

Hmm... That does give me an idea. It's not too fleshed out, but a game about the Gunners could be interesting. We don't really have much to go off of (at least what I'm aware) other than "they're mercenaries," which seems very sceptical seeing as how in 9.9 out of 10 situations we interact with Gunners, they instantly shoot on sight. The only time I can remember them NOT shooting at you is when you meet McCreedy in Fallout 4.
Anyway, back to what I was saying. A game about the Gunners back during the time where they were ACTUAL mercenaries sounds fun. Maybe it could give us a fall-from-grace scenario, where the Gunners used to be an actual group of people who would help the people of the wasteland for money and resources (like in The Mandolorian for example), until internal problems caused the group to split. Your character (depending on moral choices, faction affiliation, etc.) could either stay with the now-highly aggressive and scummy Gunners that we know, or break off and go your own separate way... not without taking a few heads with you, of course.
Maybe we could even throw in some ex-Gun Runners for you, Tin men. I sure would like to see the Anit-material Rifle back in its rightful place, and not just a stat-boosted reskin of the LEFT-HANDED Hunting Rifle from the newest Fallouts.

I would join the Shogunate in a heartbeat. A power-armored faction that would wield both improvised and actual melee weapons sounds cool. I mean the Legion have the thermal lance and other cool swords like the gladius, why not make the Shishkabob (Shishkabab? Whatever) and other katanas/eastern-style swords their faction-exclusive weapons.
And the armor! Don't even get me started on what the armor could look like! The samurai on the thumbnail looks like he's about to cut down the protagonist where they stand while preaching about the old Eastern philosophies of honor and peace via combat.

    • @GamesTwiceOver
      @GamesTwiceOver  2 роки тому

Yeah, the armor could be pretty unique looking. At least, I certainly expect the samurai power armor to be a lot better looking than my model- mashup and poor excuse of a retexture.
