HA im a son of atom myself , even dived in a lake serving for cooling for a nuclear powerplant it was a enligthening experience , really gets my heart to tic tic tic.
Banned from r/Fallout? Now that doesnt surprise me in the slightest lmao. These are the people who would ban you outright for saying that you like the Enclave.
I find that suprising. R/Fallout seems quite lacking in moderation. We have the same "Where should Fallout 5 be set?", "I just finished FNV, what a gem", "Can we talk about the Fallout 3 ending choice" and "What game should I start with" topics every day. They don't even ban the psychos who try to defend the Legion and it's rape/murder/slaving sprees with "It's a wasteland, it's different morals" crap.
Like New Vegas? Because I see it that way. This is how I view each fans in correlations to the Fallout Factions Fallout 1 and 2 Fans - Enclave Fallout 3 Fans - East Brotherhood of Steel New Vegas Fans - Mr. House Fallout 4 Fans - Minutemen Fallout 76 Fans - Minutemen
This is why my fallout life is so private and personal. 90% of conversations are from an approved conversation guidebook. The fandom has identified approved opinions and largely dismisses ‘opposition’. I’m a passionate fan, yet I talk very little to other ‘passionate fans’ because the conversations always end up the same. It was the same on NMA as it is on Reddit. It’s very frustrating. So I mostly avoid it. I love to talk about Fallout, but I can’t on the internet because everyone is so desperate to illustrate how they’re "a true fan" that all conversations seem to devolve into basically that. "Wouldn’t it be cool if you could theme your camp in 76 to enable you to generate resources exclusive to that theme, then you could trade those resources with other theme users to create a barter economy!" "you play 76? New Vegas is the true Fallout experience." "Erm… okay."
I don't blame you at all; it really does feel next to impossible at times to find any sort of middle ground in the Fallout fanbase. It's a problem with any fandom really, but Fallout's really does seem stuck in this Groundhog Day scenario where every day is "Bethesda bad, let Obsidian handle everything" with people always "sticking it" to the Bethesda titles. I often question if I'm even playing the same damn games lmao seeing how I enjoy both developers and their take on Fallout.
@@rileyrosswalker I honestly do think bethesda really isn’t that great anymore, I’ve played all their games back to grid iron (1986) and man it seems they’ve really gone done the condescending assume you’re player is brain dead game design with insulting “puzzles” I mean the next title they may as well be outright and honest and call the player disabled and the just lack of care for any rpg elements like the weak writing and dialogue. In my opinion their games have gotten dumbed down further and further since daggerfall to the point where it’s comically stupefying
@@huguesdepayen1 It would be comical if it wasn't so depressing. That reminds me, NV fans are just like the Morrowind fans, I've been trying to figure out where I'd seen that level of elitist before.
I think there was a missed opportunity to ask fans about the preffered artstyle and level design. Do they prefer the more realistic and retro futuristic look of Fallout 4-76, or the gritty stylized sci fi look of the previous titles? Stylized vs Realism, Retro futurism vs futurism, bleak vs hopeful, pretty vs ugly. Another question i would have asked was if fans cared more about level design or realistic environments. Should buildings and abandoned pre-war structures serve a fun gameplay purpose as dungeons, or should they better reflect what their actual purpose was instead of being a fun arena? It's the immersion vs fun question.
yeah I agree about new vegas fans dominating UA-cam. You probably would've gotten more on the Fallout subreddit but there wasn't much you could do about the subreddit's reaction. reddit Fallout fans are different compared to UA-cam Fallout fans. since most of them admitted to never really going on UA-cam and never knowing of the divided fanbase. there's also friends in Asian countries I reached out and shared your survey with that were confused. mainly the Japanese ones that didn't know New Vegas was that popular.
As a russian I was really surprised of how bethesda-fanboyish western Fallout community is, with most of the people haven't even played Fallout 1/2. It is no wonder that 4/5 of modern Fallout1/2-inspired games are made by eastern european devs.
@@Adam-nc6qg I honestly don't know, maybe its because of pirate distributors like Fargus, they made it so the fully translated (very janky from the modern perspective) copies of Fallout 1/2 could have been found literally everywhere for cheap. The whole community is really old, with games like Planet Alcatraz releasing back in 2006.
I'm not particularly suprised that people said NV fans were elitist don't get me wrong it's my favorite game out of the new fallout's. But it does seem like some (mainly a vocal minority though) think of NV like it's the embodiment of christ then just a damn great game
We need more fallout videos like this, from every fallout youtuber. Less about bias toward the other games and more about what make their favorite one enjoyable. Videos where you can observe, learn and debate lore, but most importantly enjoy the experience.
My favorite Fallout essay is MATN's Let's make the perfect Fallout - ua-cam.com/video/FWhnY5EQiFQ/v-deo.html - You cannot get more objective about Fallout than this on youtube.
The player count for Fallout 4 is simply because it's just newer, i love FNV but i rarely ever play it anymore because to my perspective it has aged a little bit wonky, while i'm heavily critical of Fallout 4 but it's the most fun i'm having right now with mods.
@@korioa oh a lot, so much that I need to rove one to make way for new mod. Sometimes I break the game and take a hiatus from it but always end up fixing it eventually. When I'm on PC I'll get the mod list.
Choices should always lock you out of certain factions or quest lines, it would promote more play throughs as well as just more immersive. bethesda doesn’t make good games, they make a meh game with a great groundwork for players to mod and fix and make a better game.
If you were to do this experiment again I'd highly recommend you contacting as many fallout youtubers as possible even ones who only post mod videos and asking them to share your poll with their fans. That way you can get a more accurate data pool than just your followers
Really not a fan if the dude saying that 4 and 76 fans aren't fallout fans. He's a prime example of why some think classic fans are overly hostile. In any case this video was very well done and It was interesting to finally see the results of the survey! Love your ghoul avatar btw.
I'd say Fallout 4 is the most played title because of it's higher sales and stability, easy modding, and repeatable content. Even if it isn't as sophisticated content as new vegas, it's a task to chew on to pass the time. While New Vegas has high replayability, it's not a game that is easy to run or has repeatable tasks. I am likely wrong, but this seems like a sensible theory. Even if it's not the entire truth. I play more Fallout 4 than New Vegas because of it's modding capabilities, yet would still say that Fallout 4 is a low tier Fallout game.
That is a good point. If fallout games were bands it wouldn't matter that NV is the best if most of their shows ended early because the stage kept collapsing. Meanwhile F4 might be mediocre at best but at worst lights a curtain on fire every now and again. They always complete their sets
@@AlphaLegionTacticoolShitposts Fallout 4 is the most stable Fallout. If you are crashing that often then there's something wrong with your system. The only Fallout game that was crashing that much was FNV on release.
@@BoroMirraCz I've seen Fallout 4 on about 4 or 5 Xbox One and they have all had problems. Maybe it's different on PC but is is a mess on Xbox. Even 76 is more stable than Fallout 4
I just want to see a Fallout game that isnt afraid to be banned in some countries. I love FO 1&2 for the grime and think the series has gotten too happy and colorful to be a post-apocalyptic roleplaying game.
I remember back when NV released that it was panned across the board by most of the fans commenting on videos back in the day. It’s funny how it’s now considered the best of the franchise by so many.
I’m pretty sure it was panned because it was insanely unstable and glitches were common, man how easy we have it these days with 4 separate mods that make the game playable.
@@MDPToaster I dunno, I recall a lot of hate about how brown and empty looking it was. But either way, what 4 mods are those? Asking so I can make sure I have them installed. Last time I played NV, it was a buggy good time lol
It was a horrible rushed mess and crashed constantly, even to this day I still get a couple crashes with minimal modding on pc, with most of the mods being stability and bug fixes. Of course it would get panned, deservedly so.
@@Kydino I tried playing it a year ago on PC and it is by far the crash happiest game I have ever played. Admittedly I may not have the proper mods installed to correct, but I’m hoping someone responds to my post with a “hey moron, use x,y,z mod. Freaking idiot nub”
@@steven20653 yup. Never really had a game give me technical issues like that, i can play skyrim, oblivion just fine too. Fo3 has some minor issues too but not as much.
"If the new vegas bias exists it's strange that the bias would also push to calling themselves elitist" Not really imo. I lean towards fallout 3 as my fave but've played NV for hundreds of hours more because of it's stability on PC, I'm undeniably an NV fan. But other NV fans treat the game as the perfect RPG that can never be topped despite it being clearly unfinished and all talk, low spectacle from my experience compared to the unique set pieces in the bethesda games. (Tranquility lane, liberty prime, the replicated man and the superhuman gambit are all prime examples of how bethesda's work is more memorable to me than NV's general all around higher quality by dryer execution in the base game.). The classic Fallout's tone, Fallout 3's set pieces, Vegas's dialogue, 4's gunplay and 76's world design. if the best parts of all of these games could be merged we'd have a truly perfect game. Dead Money and Old World Blues are the closest we've gotten to that dream in my eyes though going through NV just to level up to get to them stops me from replaying them often.
"classic Fallout's tone, Fallout 3's set pieces, Vegas's dialogue, 4's gunplay and 76's world design" This should be the set of principles for the Fallout 5 Dev team, and really, is a fair evaluation of the franchises strengths and weaknesses to date.
I wish NV fans weren’t as elitist, and I would like the fan base to just like what they like and enjoy each game for their pros and cons as well as personal preferences. The Fallout fanbase is divided and biased, hopefully that changes, but who knows.
When you have a game with a lot of factions with different types of ideals embodied into them. You'd definitely expect some form of dividing tho. You can't help it
Nah man, I can't see myself united with someone who thinks im a nazi for liking/(supporting as a player) and wanting to play legion and enclave, I prefer the elitist bubble to those people.
@@iagorocha4814 I feel you. Just because I don't blindly just label the factions as evil or good, doesn't mean I actually really agree with their methods and ideals. When someone says that on a deeper level, the Legion is not all-bad and the NCR isn't all-good, what most glue sniffers (Usually the NCR and BoS simps) hear is "I'm a nazi who likes enslaving women." and refuse listen further. If you blindly love a fictional post apocalyptic faction and absolutely agree and identify with it's ideals, you're an total dimwit.
Fallout 76 definitely has one of the most accepting community imo. People who play the game aren’t that bad and I’ve even had conversations with some about the classics and even what caused 76 to fall but also what keeps us there playing
No wonder Fallout 4 is the most played since shooting stuff is actually fun. Now add modding and infinite repeating quests and you can preety much play this game forever without even needing to start a new run. The sim city gameplay with settlements also gives plays a goal to work towards beyond the main story. New Vegas meanwhile is a great experience but at some point you have done quite literally everything the game has to offer since every encounter was premade by the developers and the core gameplay sucks since its based on a tumor called Fallout 3 gunplay. Sucks that to achieve that Fallout 4 made preety much everything not related to gameplay worse.
Tbh people are find new stuff all the time in New Vegas especially with modding that adds cut content back into the game. Fallout 4 for me was only playable with mods, after I got my PC and started using mods never will I got back (I mean the vanilla weapons alone are dogshit let alone the story). Also the machine and her isn't compatible with locksmith for some bizarre reason.
@@superbananas7792 For me it's the opposite. I can install unofficial patch and I can do a great new Fallout 4 run. For FNV I need a long list of mods to make the game at least playable. And with Bethesda's masterful worldbuilding and attention to detail I find that there's more to find in Fallout 4 than in FNV. In FNV it's usually some hidden dialogue choice, but in Fo4 it's whole new areas and stories...
@@BoroMirraCz on Xbox 360 I could play Fallout NV for upwards of 8 hours before a crash, on my Xbox One it basically never crashes. Fallout 4 on my Xbox One requires multiple mods to make it playable, Downtown Boston especially requires an LOD fix. For whatever reason, killing her puts my game on some kind of countdown until it just breaks, the file gets corrupted. Great survey and great video! keep it up. This hypocrisy from some fallout players made me laugh "I want a blank slate character with heavy rpg elements but I don't like that my choices lock me out of certain content" lmao, that made me laugh.
This was a really great video! I found the metrics to be interesting, and would love to see this taken at a larger scale, maybe just so people could get different perspectives, especially those outside the groups they regularly frequent. I have had a growing interest in your content and have enjoyed it! keep up the good work and thank you for creating the content.
If it was a hivemind then there wouldn't be such a divide among everyone. If you meant individual fallout communities, well then probably no sht every specific community is like that regardless of the fandom
i own fallout 1, 3, and NV. have played F1 for 20 minutes and never went outside the starting cave, not understanding the controls well, but want to play more, i've played F3 for about 2 hours and never went past megaton, kept restarting (a few times because of stats, and a few times because friends played my saves and kept blowing the town up for fun and saving...) and finding myself tired out each time because the tutorial is worse than oblivion's, very tedious to get through and still have energy to continue. still want to play more of it but kinda jaded. played fallout new vegas for 700+ hours and continue to play it, creating over 20 characters with unique role plays.
I think you should play 2 instead of 1 since you like NV so much as many of the elements you’re going to recognise such as NCR/Bos/Enclave are closer to home.
Honestly 76 fans get the most hate just because it's the most different fallout than the rest and fits a niche that not many OG fans fit into. It falls into the same category as elders scrolls online but I don't hear nearly as much hate for that game than 76
I play ESO and the combat is fun. It’s also been around for 7 years and while still containing bugs, server issues, and a myriad of other problems (ya know the things we all associate with a Bethesda game) they did patch it to the point where it’s playable. 76, which I will never play, will get to that point eventually.
If I have one controversial Fallout opinion, it is that FO76 had pretty good writing. I only played during the free week back in summer 2019, but the holotape of this one girl who grew up in an abandon grocery store and felt abandon by everyone really stuck with me.
Honestly, it just amazes me the parallels between the Fallout community and the Elder Scrolls community. New Vegas parallels Morrowind, as a majority of fans, or wtmleas the most vocal minority, tout the game as the second coming of jesus christ himself. Sure, it's good game, but it all has its flaws, and issues that can definitely be a huge turn off for a lot ofmplayers, especially newer ones. But then you have a majority who enjoy the modern games like Fallout 3 - Oblivion, and Fallout 4 - Skyrim. Casual fans who have no real strong opinions either way, but those that do are in the definite minority. Then you have the really small group who enjoy the classic/retro games like Fallout - Arena, and Fallout 2 - Daggerfall. You have almost a half and half split of elitists and misunderstood fans who just simply enjoy the games more and nothing more, nothing less. It's just really interesting to note.
Toxicity exist all over the fallout community not just among the NV fans. Many Fo3 fans will get extremely toxic and hostile if you start criticizing Bethesda's take on the fallout universe, its almost as if they think the only thing Bethesda changed was the gameplay and they just don't realize all of the changes Bethesda made to the lore the themes and the atmosphere of Fallout. Bethesda even did things that undermine the stories of the first two games such as the presence of super mutants and the BOS on the east coast. Yes many NV/classic fans can be toxic elitist but I think most of these fans aren't toxic they are just frustrated that the new fans don't have the same perspective having never played 1& 2 and just blindly defend every change Bethesda makes to Fallout without actually understanding what they are defending. Personally I enjoy every Fallout game (even Tactics) for their own reasons, and I think there are many lessons that every fandom in the community could learn. The NV/classic fans need to accept the fact that Fallout as they knew it is gone its unfortunate but Fo3 sold very well, the classic fans could also chill out and enjoy the positive contributions Bethesda made to fallout like the new power armor system and even the settlement system. While it isn't what the developers should be prioritizing in fallout it can still be fun. while the modern fans need to accept that Bethesda changed fallout in ways that are fundamentally irreconcilable and acknowledge the creative differences between Black Isle/Obsidian and Bethesda instead of pretending 3,4 and 76 are completely in line with what the original creators of fallout intended
@Airmanareiks I agree with you there, but what bothers me is that there are some New Vegas fans out there that actively trash and put-down people merely for enjoying the Bethesda games. In other words, it seems that there are some toxic New Vegas Fans out there that make the Fallout fandom look unapproachable to countless numbers of more casual fans.
Boy, I really wish that I found your channel earlier so that I could have participated in the survey. Fallout is probably my favorite video game franchise, with New Vegas being my first and likely favorite. I own all the core (1, 3,4, NV, 4) games and hope to get around to getting into FO1 soon. My experience with the community has been poor; that I will say flat-out. New Vegas may be my favorite Fallout and one of my favorite games, but I absolutely despise its fandom and the culture surrounding it. I feel that a lot of New Vegas fans barely play any RPGs, basing their opinions on what an RPG should be off of New Vegas and maybe the KoToR games. Many of these fans claim to love NV for sticking true to the original games, and even a passing knowledge of Fallouts 1 and 2 will let you know that their incredibly contrasting tone and stories make it hard to "stay true" to both of them. If you try to discuss the flaws of New Vegas, people will either say that a flaw is a strength, such as the goals of this game's Brotherhood making little sense, or that the flaw is Bethesda's fault, such as the numerous bugs and lack of Legion content. I'll admit that I am a bit of a Bethesda shill, being from Maryland and all, but it is hard to deny that many New Vegas fans act like Todd Howard personally killed a family member of each Obsidian dev. Obsidian devs, especially Chris Avellone, I believe, said that the upper devs eagerly took the infamous 85-score bonus agreement in exchange for a shorter development cycle, and Bethesda never did anything to undermine them besides just having a crappy engine. That may sound like a bizarre statement, but some New Vegas fans honestly believe that Bethesda somehow purposely sabotaged a game that they were publishing because they were jealous of Obsidian. This makes little sense, as Fallout 3 was still critically acclaimed when New Vegas came out, with 3 vs NV being a far more common argument, and Bethesda has shown sympathy to the former Black Isle devs, including a cryptic reference in FO3 to Interplay not supporting Black Isle. tl;dr I adore New Vegas and Fallout, but I try to distance myself from the fandom, who treat New Vegas as a gift from God.
As a fellow Maryland resident I just wanted to say I too use to be all in for Bethesda. Then they continually poo poo’d the community making decisions I strongly disliked. It’s to the point now where Im not excited for the next fallout or elder scrolls game at all. My plan is to look into them once the game of the year version drops and I can see exactly what their final product is and if I will spend money on it. Bethesda is like BioWare to me now, fallen from grace and a sad, pale shadow of what it was.
I believe that everyone should treat each other with respect, especially if you're fans of the same thing. Just start treating others the way you would want to be treated every single time. When people see you do something good, it can spread by encouraging the others who witnessed to do the same. Just be wise, give people the respect and room to talk just like you want
17:15 doesn't really understand the issues of the Frontier. Not even the 'based, legion-pilled' side of the fandom enjoyed the Frontier, with the Frontier more or less just being a higher budget version of Fallout: Alton: A Fan's flawed view of the Fallout games. As for the degeneration of the fandom, this is somewhat true. Content Creators such as Schizo Elijah are good examples of people who are politically incorrect who've nested themselves in the fandom, with their views on society, the legion, slavery and women not being something agreed upon by larger society. However, these characters are not the majority of the fandom, and many of the people who originate from this sub-fandom (4chan and certain reddits) are semi-ironic as is. Yaboiii is an amazing example of the modern fandom's potential, as he's able to address and respect the lore and power of factions, such as Caesar's Legion, without becoming politically intertwined.
I am pretty sure that Schizo Elijah is mostly just doing his thing because of the spectacle of disagreeing with the "most popular opinion" of the NCR being the best path, he doesn't really try to present the legion as "the good guys" more as the "refuses to elaborate further" meme
i think fallout nv is the best fallout, but still like more 4. I love the random encounters and still after 500 hours never see manta man, true most of them are just combat but some are well unique, in thay regardells is similar to 1 and 2. I've recently been playing a fallout mod name old world blues in hearts of iron 4, is very well made and more balanced the original game
(I have 34,000 hours on vanilla Fallout NV) I'm glad that I'm here and I'm glad that this video has ended up in my recommendations, I am extremely egotistical about Fallout NV, so I just wanted to give my opinion on the Fallout NV elitism. I think that I am a unique case and for that reason I don't want to over generalize but I think it comes down to some very very niche writing directions. I had read a comment on here that made me want to write one myself. They talked about the dichotomy between Fallout NV's rather lack luster set pieces compared to fallout 3's grandiose action movie story telling. For me personally that is actually something that I don't like all, Prior fallout games treated your character like an absolute ape brain. In my opinion Fallout 1/2 and NV puts the player into a struggle that feels very much like a real situation, and to me this feels like a more visceral experience. In the case of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 I believe both have more exciting and fun stories but not all that varied. Both games have action packed sequences, silly one liners, and great companions. But in fallout 3 its apparent that you can really only side with the BoS, and in fallout 4 it seems like there's only two different moral outcomes for any of the 4 factions, this lends these games to feel more like a linear experience. Tacked on that both fallout 3/4 both give your character a fixed position in its story telling you where you born, what your life was like, who your family is and this personally makes it hard for me to replay the games I feel like every time I make a new character I've already lost the ability to role play. There's a lot more I could say but I'd rather not type out something this long if no ones going to see it. If you have something you disagree with, comment and I'd love to go more in-depth with you about it. Fallout is my favorite series and I love all of them deeply!
I feel you man, being able to confront the ncr doctor that sends you on a suicide mission to vault 21 after his assistant tells you is much more memorable than my 5 minutes walk with liberty prime.

this vid is literally why I don't like interacting with the fandom outside of asking for help with modding lol. Kind of sick of pretty much every fandom I've been almost
Honestly, I don’t wanna be rude or anything, but in my opinion, people who called 76 fans „idiots” are idiots themselves. I’m kinda sad that people said that 76’s writing is so bad, especially because the monstrosity that is BOS exists. I’m also surprised that people consider NV to have the best writing. I always found FO1’s writing better. Maybe It’s just me. I also like how you turned yourself into a ghoul lmao. Great video, by the way!
The survey was flawed in that it can't account for games people haven't played. You can't vote Fallout (1) as having better writing than New Vegas if you've only played modern titles, similarly i doubt the vast majority of the people who partook in the survey have ever even seen gameplay of BOS, let alone played it themselves.
FNV has the best dialogue writing in the franchise, there's no doubt about that. And the factions are written also quite well. But the writing on side quests sucks because it just makes the side quests slaves to the main quests. Side quests should be independent entities, not just branches of the main narrative. And FNV lacks consequences just as much as Bethesda Fallout does. In FNV a character tells you about possible consequences but the game shows none of that.
Respect that you recognised the problems of bias,...with 70% FNV fans,...it does however give some interesting perspective on a decent chunk of the FNV fandom, if not the views of the majority of Fallout fans. A lot of FNV fans recognising that they come across to others as elitist (or even being proud of being elitist, given that a high proportion also stated they were 'correct'?) for example.
Personally im mixed between a casual and, 'to' into it.. I believe all the fallout games are good, my favorites being 4/76 and New Vegas, i hate when people think just because i like VEGAS, means i hate 4/76, when it turns out fallout 4 was the first game i've played when i was like, (14?/15?) It introduced me to a series i hold dear, but at the same time, i hate other fan's of the series, due to bias other fan's tend to have, For Vegas/2/1. I highly look down on the type of fan, that play's one game then say's the others are dumb, cause personally i like all the titles the same-ish (Fallout 4 since yakow, first game and everything.) / (Accept i haven't played fallout 1 or tactics, my tiny brain cant handle they style of the other game's.) TLDR; I like all the games, (But dislike the fanbase.) all have their own charm, and i dislike the fan's that only play Vegas/Etc and say the newer Titles/FO3 Are dumb. And discredit the fan's of said game's.
You definitely need to stay clear of the Fallout 'shitpost community', dear pure child of Atom People like you are the ones who give me most hope for any Fallout content
I love how Fallout BoS and Nee Vegas are represented with the same color in the pie charts, so you can read them as the community having a very deep infatuation with that niche ps2 diablo clone.
Came in on three. Went back and played one and two before new vegas came out. Played and enjoyed four and seventy six. Most players and fans are great! Toxic people I think are just loud.
I didn't get a chance to fill in this survey but I gotta say that I have to agree with the "NV fans are elitist" statement. It's an excellent game but it's effectively the best mod for FO3. Obsidian had plenty of time take the flaws of 3 and improve upon them while also not having to build the skeleton of the game themselves. I personally would like to see more Obsidian made games but not because Bethesda is doing a bad job. I just don't agree with Bethesda's stance of making 1 game every 8 years(or more). That's too long for them to juggle multiple IPs. They -need- to have other studios make games in their series if only to keep the games alive. I would also state that I would do my best to identify negative opinions of 76 and link it to people who never played the game. It would also be interesting to see when people played 76. Those who got ran over by the hype train and played on launch will likely have a bitter taste in their mouth but if you plopped the game on someone today and let them play it I would doubt they would have as many issues with it.
Just pointing this out since people don't seem to realize, and I feel like it's fairly important. Obsidian is not the same company it was in 2010. Most of the lead writers who made the game what it was (most notably in my opinion Avellone) are no longer at the company, or do not work in those positions anymore. Having another Obsidian Fallout wouldn't be much different from having Bioware make it. They (Obsidian) also tend to lay claim to those old titles when they talk about them. Again, to strike a comparison, it's like the Blizzard of today claiming that they made the original Warcraft and Starcraft. The talent that made those games is almost entirely gone. It's a different studio in all but name.
I get the struggle when it comes to survey questions man. There's a reason entire semester courses in majors of research are dedicated to it. Don't worry it gets easier with time and you learn how not to ask leading questions or put measures to detect faking/non-interest. As for my own background I am a New Vegas fan through and through and encourage the entire fallout community to try it. I started with fallout in 3, played New Vegas the most, and went back to play fallout 2. Then 4 released and it left a sour taste in my mouth that I haven't felt since skyrim released (being brought up on morrowind and oblivion). I don't like the path Bethesda is taking in dynamic player character development. That is I believe you should have a general archetype of character in mind before making the character no matter how vague. Make smart decisions in your build to support your style of play, it's that simple, and punishing when you're wrong. That's how you learn. I was shit at making characters when I was 12 and learning rpgs. And ironically if you read the descriptions of stats it's not hard at all. Newer Bethesda games like skyrim and FO4 have deviated massively from those RPG designs. Not to say there aren't elements of each of those games that I thoroughly enjoy. That's why NV is a gem in my opinion merging both rpg elements, storytelling, and captive gameplay. Plus it was the only game I played since morrowind that you can kill everyone and still progress the story if you know what to do, that's good gameplay and story writing.
I really don't care what anyone else's favorite Fallout game is, just don't insult me or my favorite game just because it's different than yours. At the end of the day I just think it's cool you like Fallout.
I feel like the biggest part of fallout fans are divided on is lore retcons. I absolutely despise them and if Bethesda stopped with doing so many of them I feel as though the community would be less hostile towards each other.
Judging by my own experience and the data from your survey. I would guess that the Fallout new vagus category has a higher concentration of passionate fans when compared to 3 and the modern era. Which have a greater degree of causal fans, particularly being the case a decade after FNV’s release. I would put this down to the to FNV being a fundamentally different experience when compared to the rest of the Bethesda era. Having an enthuses on exploring the human experience with many of the stories being made with a relativist lense, unlike the more binary morality of the rest of the Bethesda era. Put this alongside the importance of inventory management and pre planning of FNV, unlike the power fantasy of Bethesda game studio games. It naturally attracts a more dedicated audience. This higher concentration of passionate fans in FNV could also explain the large social media presence. As any creative content takes time, skill and risk to make. Something that a more casual fan would be less inclined to do, never mind do repeatedly as apposed to a passionate fan. Combined with FNV’s relativist morality creating more nuanced discussions and having a higher concentration of passionate fans creating a more stable audience, the risk of content flopping or loosing relevance is far lower when compared to a causal audience that can fluctuate dramatically and has little care for diving into nuanced topics. This isn’t to say FNV is a better game but it is a better generator of passionate and long lasting fans.
I love Fallout especially New Vegas, but I've never finished New Vegas. I've started many runs on different platforms, but each save eventually corrupted. I think each Fallout game has something great it brings to the table, but none have the full package and it's a shame. Fallout is a good idea with a lot of good things to work from. I bet if they did fallout right it would be a massive success.
I don't like very specific established characters if you can choose initial abilities and stats that don't fit them. This doesn't have to impact further progress, though. For example, if Fallout 4 had started Nate and Nora off with different, relevant skill sets that you could've altered from there, then I'd have had no issue. Blank slates I am also fine with as long as the story accommodates the fact well.
With Fallout BOS, I found I actually enjoyed it and finished it all the way. I’d say it wasn’t horrible, just Different. I guess it’s how I grade games; based on the fun I had playing it and if I wanted to play more to complete the game.
Honestly, new vegas is alright but it definitely shows its age. I just do prefer fallout 4 because I like the graphics, the gunplay and combat, mods, and the dlc is actually pretty fun. If you like new vegas, good. It's just not my "cup of tea" as you might say.
This is actually my position on it as well. I didn't even like New Vegas at all when I first got it. it just seemed so linear compared to 3 map-wise. Going down the same road with same raiders over and over. Eventually i played the shit out of it, but I could never go back, aged like milk.
I must have somehow missed the poll. I played Fallout Tactics the most, followed by New Vegas, followed by 2. Favourite game is New Vegas, followed by Tactics. Least favourite is 76, followed by Fallout Shelter. Amusingly, if I rank all the games in Fallout history, the pure Bethesda ones are all in the bottom half. New Vegas, Tactics, 2, 4, 1, 3, BoS, Shelter, 76. Thing is, Tactics was a sleeper hit. Yes, the roleplaying wasn't there. But. Graphically? It's still good today. Influential? Oh yes. 3 and 4 looted Tactics incessantly for good stuff.
I love New Vegas my favorite thus far and I've beaten 1 and 2 in fact I beat 2 yesterday. I'm getting ready to give tactics a go any advice for a newbie?

I'm down to vote my vote even if I'm not a old time fall out player. Well enough into the franchise to know Steam can't possibly tell the accuracy of true fall out groups or the players. If I had know you were creating this I'd have want in! Loved that you cared enough to make it shows those Afraid to voice their opinion as much as those passionate to voice opinion as much those afraid to be ridiculed even not to be a voice proves we should not we should not remain divided as fallout players. Quite simply it's us who make the base and what the game is as indeed it is just a game but it is with the players themselves that make the game so much more. You'd better send your thanks to Nexus models because they too deserve a lot of credit.
Didn't see the poll but here's my thoughts: When I saw Bethesda's FO3 trailer I thought it looked pretty good and asked a few boomer friends if I should play 1 and 2. They convinced me to and I don't regret it at all. The original Fallout still has the best overall story and atmosphere of despair and solitude in the post-apocalypse. Fallout 2 had improved gameplay but the game felt overall a little too wacky. I did enjoy seeing society rebuilding itself slowly. Then I played Fallout 3 and it felt wrong. The feeling of despair and gray morality wasn't really there, people were still living in sheds made of scrap metal, the super mutants and enclave were back, they gave one of my favorite characters, Harold, an awful end, and so on and so forth. I heard it said as a joke often but it really did feel like oblivion with guns, not Fallout. As for Fallout New Vegas, it felt like the old team trying to make the best they could with Bethesda's crappy engine and scraps from Van Buren. I enjoyed the writing but the shooting was still awful. Fallout 4 I couldn't even finish because I found the writing absolutely terrible. At the end of the day, I'm still a Fallout fan, but not a Bethesda fan. Also, Emil Pagliarulo just plain sucks.
@@drekbleh7081 Could be, weh haven't seen a Ghoul with beard yet. But i never really thought that they wore wigs. Because why would you care about your looks if you are ugly either way?
It's possible that the fallout 4 fans in the "my favorite game" chart say that's their favorite game because of the built-in mod support, weapon modding, and the overall "ease-of-access" when incorporating popular fps tropes such as sprinting, aiming down sights and the such. This can also be said for the divided play times. (That and graphics)
As a Fallout 4 player, i think that the hours spended come mostly from those who try to mod it in the most efficient way, i have played in pc 29 hrs already, and i have been just trying to mod modern houses, weapons, cloths, etc... i haven't even met Paladin Danse, i could not even pass Concord, since my game would always crash. I bought it like 2 weeks ago, but i have been occupied with studies and trying to get a job. I first played FO4 in Playstation in 2016, I not gonna lie to you, i first tought it was just a peculiar looking zombie apocalipse game, lucky for me it made discover the rest of fallout games which seemed really good despite being kind of old.
Personally, NV is my favourite fallout and I would identify as a NV fan. But i feel like what sums up some of the more colourful members of my peers is a 8 hour response video i saw to Many a True Nerds "Fallout 3 is better than you think" with that video just under 2 hours long. Basically saying he is wrong for finding value in fallout 3.
MATN's Fallout 3/4 defence videos are very dishonest, with countless logical fallacies and dishonest framings of the situation, here is some of the things he said: - Fallout 3 shooting is great because your character is inexperienced with guns (literally what) - Fallout 3 supermutants were supposed to be Master's worst nightmare (headcanon is not an argument) - Lowering starting special points from 40 to 20 is the representation of the trait system (how) - Fallout 4 factions are great because they give different rewards that represent their personality (the most basic thing that existed in fiction since forever) - Megaton's food source are molerats (That is not how the logistics of food production work) - Lanius is just some random guy (he didn't get the main point of the entire character) - Misrepresented Hbomberguy, Indigo Gaming and even Creetosis. - Some of his points contradict each other: MATN never states clear if the Brotherhood in Fallout 3 is different or is it the same as in Fallout 1/2, he just switches these points depending on if its helps to prove his argument. - And this is just the most surface-level mistakes (or intentionally dishonest populist takes) I can remember. If this is "finding value in Fallout 3" then you must have a really weird definition of "finding value". The whole "But 8 hours is too long!!!" argument is really dumb, if you think that a 8 hour response to a 2 hour video is "too long", then you must also think that a 20 minute response to a 5 minute video is too long, because they have the same ratio of 1:4. And this is not even mentioning the fact that this response showed a lot of context clips, making the ratio of the original content close to 1:2,7 А ещё за осквернение Ленина своим фанбойством выдаю тебе смачный плевок в ебало.

As I missed the servey, I will write my opinion about Fallout games: I'll rate game like this: Fallout 1 ++ Fallout 2 +++ Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of steal + Fallout Brotherhood of Steal - Van Buren (Unreleased fallout 3, I will rate not the game, but the ideas of the game) - Fallout 3 -- Fallout New Vegas +++ Fallout 4 ++ Fallout Shelter + Fallout 76 ++ I cannot decide which of the game I like the most, the second game or the New Vegas. But I can say that my least favourite game in the series is Fallout 3, definitely.
I have a problem with blank slates. As having backstory for a character does harm roleplay potential. There's also the problem of lack of player motivation. For example outer worlds has no self serving reason beyond wealth for you to pursue the main quest.
I discovered Fallout rather late, and only played Fallout 2 (and a bit of Fallout 1) and New Vegas, but I fell in love with the setting enough for Fallout to become something dear to my heart. I snobbed Fallout 3 for all the wrong reasons. It's funny, even though I only really played the second game I had a very clear cut image of what Fallout was and was not, and Fallout 3 was clearly the latter for me at the time. If I wanted an FPS which felt bad to play because of RPG mechanics, I'd have played the original Deus Ex. Today I can see the value in Fallout 3 and 4, even though I would not play them, but I think I've but my finger on what really is the weakness of Bethesda, and what isn't. It's care. As dumb as it is to say, The devs of Fallout 1 and 2 cared, even though there were nonsensical easter eggs, and Obsidian cared for Fallout New Vegas. To this day if I want to play an FPS RPG with lever actions that actually work as lever actions, I go to FNV. Fallout 4 added a lever action with a DLC, but it doesn't work as a lever action, even though the gunplay of Fallout 4 is reputedly a MARKED improvement over FNV. There are lots of good devs at Bethesda that do good work, I am not challenging that, and nobody should care as much as I do for freaking lever action rifles in a post apocalyptic wasteland. But it shows the lever of care permeating the non-Bethesda games. Bethesda's writing staff have some cool ideas (I am not fan of their writing crutches but eh) but they do not care about the setting, the lore or the inconsistencies. They don't care about Fallout, they want to write their own little post-apocalyptic stories. And while it is a low hanging fruit, what Bethesda wants is a post-apocalyptic flavored shooting gallery. And so they do, and improve on the FPS gameplay. And while Pete Hines loves making a fool out of himself, it's not a bad approach. Making a game that plays better is better. But the writing always feels so rushed, rife with inconsistencies, and things that don't make sense because time was not spent there, nobody double checked the writing, nobody cares. I wouldn't even be surprised if some devs made a sidequest level, gave an intern the rights to add text to terminals and called it a day. The Bethesda Fallout games are Fallout games because it made more financial sense to market a follow-up to a well loved classic CRPG rather than push a new IP, not out of love for the series. On the other hand, FNV is FAR from perfect, and Outer Worlds had the same issues. Hell, on some level Wasteland 2 had these issues. The CRPG model has some glaring issues that are not Bethesda's fault. I don't think anyone likes the Fallout 4 speech system, but "Speech" in all those games is problematic and often times boils down to option 1 "say something sensible" option 2 "say the same thing, but passing a speech check", even turning around the entire lifelong held beliefs of whomever opens herself to a speech check, which is all too often required to get the "best" outcome out of the quests. A "choice" that is even enforced in Outer Worlds, which emphasizes heavily the first compromise option you get. And which gives better rewards. I think that when we look at the "best outcome reward bias" the worst offender is Bioshock 1. The entire moral premise is that you either sacrifice little girls for big rewards, or cure them for small rewards, hampering your progression. Except at some points you get "gifts" as thanks for saving a set number of little girls, which put you roughly on par with the evil path. And that's the problem. In Fallout the reward was progressing the game without going through a grueling fight. Today we can't have that in a video game. FPS games allow the cheesing of enemies a LOT more easily than isometric RPGs with considerably less for enemies to get stuck on. When combat starts and a hail of gunfire gibs your character, RPG players react more along the line of "Yeah, I shouldn't have done that." while FPS players would more easily call bullshit. After all it's an FPS, shooting people with guns is what they do, the combat being bullshit is bullshit. Telling FPS players that thanks to a skill check they can avoid a dicey firefight is not giving them a reward. They're here for the freaking firefight. They don't want to talk down the bastards, they want to mow them down with a rotary grenade launcher while strafing left and right, taking cover, and getting their fix of high octane explosive action. And some set pieces, because they're cool. So skill checks have to be relegated to dialogue flavors before or after the fun stuff, and since it's so optional, it cannot be developed and has to be on the spot persuasion. People loved the end of Fallout 1 because you need to actually convince the Master. With proof. You don't just pass a speech check, you need to have researched the lead and show him the freaking papers. FNV did not have a good dialogue system. I do like my character saying what I actually select instead of being a loose indication, but the skill and stats thresholds weren't good. The only universe in which I want to be able to completely turn around someone's outlook on life with a speech check is Star Wars and even KOTOR mostly f'd that one up. Long story short, trying to continue a franchise whatever what may isn't good. The original Fallout's core does not translate well in mainstream FPS RPG format, no matter how much we love the classics. The Fallout Bethesda games have lackluster story because Bethesda doesn't care about that. They care about the core gameplay loop, and they did it good. While Obsidian isn't free from the inherent weaknesses of the format, the level of care is like night and day. The best Fallout game is Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Fight me.
@@KJ-od8wq Well for one how many people said they're New Vegas fans, the fact at least 10%-20% of them see themselves as elitist but also the general disliking toward 3 and 4 all throughout the survey.

I believe the blankest slate s we have access to in the fallout games are Fallout 76, Fallout 1 and fallout 2. fallout 3, Newvegas and four all have your character connected to some one else and I cant say about bos and tactics because I have not played them. (for new Vegas you need a dlc to learn the connection but it's there also your a freaking courier of course your going to have some attachment some where.)
IMO the steam player numbers are a small amount a result of many older fans using gog when they can out of principle as well as many pirates. A large amount being the quantity of F4 fans and the likelihood they spend longer game times (settlements, etc.) while NV fans tend to play the game casually as tbh its 10 years old and nothing we haven't done before but, interact a LOT on the internet thus causing a big wave in the community. F4 sold to the wider audience while NV created a devoted audience.
I feel NV sits at the perfect intersection of "hard-core" fans and "casual" fans. It is still very rpg and story heavy, but has action-based game-play and a more modern interface than FO 1 and 2. Most people who want "real rpgs" tend towards NV, because it is easy to get into and looks acceptable visually. Playing 1 and 2 is something most people would not do even if they really like the rpg gameplay.
Excellent video. I can say, that I would call myself a "casual fan" .... but I have played an insane amount of the games, an I am also a solo mod author, and on a modding team. I just don't get too....passionate ...about some topics out there. Or rather, the topics I am more passionate about relate to certain game design elements (Ie. I am more concerned about good game design elements - like game pacing, usefulness of perks, the quality of the game economy) rather than some of the other topics (too many super mutants etc.). While I love the narrative elements of a game (a good story can be VERY compelling) I find other game mechanics to be more important. (hence my modding is so important to me - without some mods - I would find many of the fallout and elder scrolls games would get much less play by me). If you do another survey, I would suggest something about mods - as they are pretty important to a lot of fans - and many more don't know a lot (or misconceptions) about them. thanks for the well done video.
At the end of the day... it's just a video game: Now do a question about how many people screamed like Darth Vader "No!" (Yes, this is a joke, I also might be on the dark side, and it's only mostly but you all get to decide which one I'm talking about)
Fallout NV was GREAT except for two details. 1, it Really felt and looked incomplete. I know it’s a mostly desert region after a nuclear war, but it really felt bare bones designed. 2. Constant bugs and crashing. Other than those, it was a great game. Fallout 4 will always slightly beat out the rest because of settlement building.
FNV is probably my most played game of all time, but 10 years later I can’t play the game without any bugs, most bugs are small but compared to other fallout games it’s a buggy mess, coming from a classic fan I prefer 3 over NV. NV fans are engrained in a large echo chamber and all share similar opinions.
I'm surprised that Fallout 2 did not score higher. As somebody who came into the Fallout franchise with three and then went back and played the older games Fallout 2 is a masterpiece. Fallout 1 was a good origin Point Rough Around the Edges but had good bones it was a side project made mostly by two guys in their spare time but Fallout 2 got proper time and resources to improve on what was there and it really showed. And with how much Fallout New Vegas really felt like a sequel to fall out too is displayed by that. Fallout 3 for me had really good World building there were flaws the overuse of the enclave and the Brotherhood as Nostalgia pops was annoying but when originally playing the game not having been Overexposed to these factions already I found them interesting and it was only once we had seen them again in Fallout New Vegas and then in Fallout 4 and then in '76 did the idea of These two factions showing up in a Fallout game again become instantly repulsive. Fallout 4 was a massive departure for the franchise overhauling the mechanics of the game in a large way and while the Gunplay and moment to moment gameplay got better the writing on a whole got significantly worse and left many postmodern and classic fans feeling underwhelmed at best and betrayed at worst. In Fallout 76 basically doesn't exist

@@Nerunium I think you have made fallout 5 with all these mods.
Fallout New Vegas Fans be like “Yeah, we elitist, keep scrolling >:)”
Really not a fan if the dude saying that 4 and 76 fans aren't fallout fans. He's a prime example of why some think classic fans are overly hostile.
In any case this video was very well done and It was interesting to finally see the results of the survey!
Love your ghoul avatar btw.
I thought it was a draugr for some reason
76 has fans?
@@averyclevername9012 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha good one.
76 is better than 4 for me 1000+ hours in that game. Very fun for me
I'd say Fallout 4 is the most played title because of it's higher sales and stability, easy modding, and repeatable content.
You have to be joking about 4 being stable? It crashes every 10min or less for me so I've never been able to complete it
@@AlphaLegionTacticoolShitposts Fallout 4 is the most stable Fallout.
Can confirm that on the OG Xbox ones fallout 4 simply doesn't run well. (Mainly downtown areas).
Jesus Christ he has a cross-arms cometary character

It's a trend. Many dislike it
Hey man
I just want to see a Fallout game that isnt afraid to be banned in some countries.
"If the new vegas bias exists it's strange that the bias would also push to calling themselves elitist"
Not really imo.
Yeah most NV fans are pretty much trash.
"classic Fallout's tone, Fallout 3's set pieces, Vegas's dialogue, 4's gunplay and 76's world design"
This should be the set of principles for the Fallout 5 Dev team, and really, is a fair evaluation of the franchises strengths and weaknesses to date.
I tought you said Dead Monkey XD
I wish NV fans weren’t as elitist, and I would like the fan base to just like what they like and enjoy each game for their pros and cons as well as personal preferences.
The Fallout fanbase is divided and biased, hopefully that changes, but who knows.
When you have a game with a lot of factions with different types of ideals embodied into them. You'd definitely expect some form of dividing tho. You can't help it
@@MasterGordon5115 Well the divide I’m talking about is more so the game divide not so much the faction divide.
Nah man, I can't see myself united with someone who thinks im a nazi for liking/(supporting as a player) and wanting to play legion and enclave, I prefer the elitist bubble to those people.
@@Kelis98 It's actually faction divide too from what I've seen tho. It's like intertwined with the games one likes.
Fallout 3 is mostly fine, on both Xbox 360 and One, unless I kill Grandma Sparkles. For whatever reason, killing her puts my game on some kind of countdown until it just breaks, the file gets corrupted. Once on FNV on 360 I had a save corrupt, on a character that had at least 100 hours on it, but I just loaded the backup save and it was fine
@@superbananas7792 I find new stuff on every new playthrough of FNV and I never use any mods. Except when I tried New California and The Frontier. I didn't finish the latter though...
@@superbananas7792 It's the opposite for me, I've been a console player for most of my gaming years so I never had access to mods until recently, I Can't finish NV and Fo3 due to how clunky the gameplay is compared to FO4, even now I got NV and Fo3 on steam during a sale and I still can't finish it even with mods lol.
I believe that the accomplishment of consistent lore over different parts of a large franchise elevates the whole to a new level of quality.
Fallout "community" is definitely a hivemind lol
not if you pay any attention
@@averyclevername9012 especially if you pay attention
@@averyclevername9012 How is it not, bruh? New Vegas is the Jesus Christ of gaming and Fallout 3 and 4 are Satan and Antichrist

Fallout community is a FUCKING CIRCLEJERK OF FAT, MINDLESS NECKBEARDS THAT PRAISE THE GAME MORE THAN RELIGIOUS PEOPLE
Great video!
I admire the effort you put in to it. I wish I was aware of the survey; I would have participated.
i own fallout 1, 3, and NV. have played F1 for 20 minutes and never went outside the starting cave, not understanding the controls well, but want to play more, i've played F3 for about 2 hours and never went past megaton, kept restarting (a few times because of stats, and a few times because friends played my saves and kept blowing the town up for fun and saving...) and finding myself tired out each time because the tutorial is worse than oblivion's, very tedious to get through and still have energy to continue. still want to play more of it but kinda jaded.
played fallout new vegas for 700+ hours and continue to play it, creating over 20 characters with unique role plays.
Although New Vegas is my favorite title by far, I'll be the first to admit that a good segment of the game's fandom can be pretty toxic/elitist.
*cough* Scitzo Elijah *cough*
@Airmanareiks I agree with you there, but what bothers me is that there are some New Vegas fans out there that actively trash and put-down people merely for enjoying the Bethesda games. In other words, it seems that there are some toxic New Vegas Fans out there that make the Fallout fandom look unapproachable to countless numbers of more casual fans.
@@craydussy I think his fans are even worse
I love that you include a reflection at the end, this is an awesome video

I hope Bethesda sees this, this could really help them find direction when thinking about Fallout.
i think fallout nv is the best fallout, but still like more 4.

I started with New Vegas and I must admit reading comments from the community is a bit disturbing. But I do love the game
I'm kinda surprised about 76s story, the story is pretty damn good for having no human NPCs and all the other writing is pretty unique and good
I think story-telling is a key aspect of a story, and for a lot of people, reading notes and terminals to get the main story just doesn't work
this vid is literally why I don't like interacting with the fandom outside of asking for help with modding lol.
I highly look down on the type of fan, that play's one game then say's the others are dumb, cause personally i like all the titles the same-ish (Fallout 4 since yakow, first game and everything.) / (Accept i haven't played fallout 1 or tactics, my tiny brain cant handle they style of the other game's.)
TLDR; I like all the games, (But dislike the fanbase.) all have their own charm, and i dislike the fan's that only play Vegas/Etc and say the newer Titles/FO3 Are dumb. And discredit the fan's of said game's.
Play Fallout 1 and 2. Seriously. They're great games and you won't regret it.

The vote for bugthesda making the best games fucking floored me hahaha
Well I never heard of the polls/voting. But YT graciously suggested this today... :)
BTW, I'm old and started playing Fallout on ancient computers.
FO NV fans are: Elitist (49.6%) and Correct (32.3%)
cannot say I disagree with that assessment xD
They say new Vegas fans are elitists but they exclude themselves from such judgement.
Who are they? As there are a lot of NV fans it's quite likely that both non-NV fans and NV fans themselves find NV fans elitists.
I feel like the biggest part of fallout fans are divided on is lore retcons. I absolutely despise them and if Bethesda stopped with doing so many of them I feel as though the community would be less hostile towards each other.
Why does your avatar looks like post-war TK-Mantis?
Why does TK-Mantis look like a Ghoul?
could you do a part 2 of the survey but post it to main sub-reddits and give it more time?
"I got banned and the post got removed" WELCOME TO STUPID REDIT.
If you’re talking about fallout 1 and 2, I think you can still create your own character or pick one of the premade ones

I was a member of Duck and Cover for over a decade. It's been a long time since I checked in though so I don't know if the site's still up or not.
Didn't see the poll but here's my thoughts:
When I saw Bethesda's FO3 trailer I thought it looked pretty good and asked a few boomer friends if I should play 1 and 2.

That video was tragic
MATN's Fallout 3/4 defence videos are very dishonest, with countless logical fallacies and dishonest framings of the situation, here is some of the things he said:
- Fallout 3 shooting is great because your character is inexperienced with guns (literally what)
- Fallout 3 supermutants were supposed to be Master's worst nightmare (headcanon is not an argument)
- Lowering starting special points from 40 to 20 is the representation of the trait system (how)
- Fallout 4 factions are great because they give different rewards that represent their personality (the most basic thing that existed in fiction since forever)
- Megaton's food source are molerats (That is not how the logistics of food production work)
- Lanius is just some random guy (he didn't get the main point of the entire character)
- Misrepresented Hbomberguy, Indigo Gaming and even Creetosis.
And this is not even mentioning the fact that this response showed a lot of context clips, making the ratio of the original content close to 1:2,7

I cannot decide which of the game I like the most, the second game or the New Vegas.
Fight me.

The distance between what people "say" is their favorite Fallout and what they play the most according to Steam is vast.
At the end of the day... it's just a video game: Now do a question about how many people screamed like Darth Vader "No!"
(Yes, this is a joke, I also might be on the dark side, and it's only mostly but you all get to decide which one I'm talking about)
Damn, wish I knew about the survey. Oh well
Fallout NV was GREAT except for two details.
1, it Really felt and looked incomplete. I know it’s a mostly desert region after a nuclear war, but it really felt bare bones designed.
2. Constant bugs and crashing.
Other than those, it was a great game.
Fallout 4 will always slightly beat out the rest because of settlement building.
Level scaling question could've been more nuanced. Only scaling enemies up is much different than a system that also scales them down.
