Marvellous. I keep returning to Dave Allen, years on. His humour remains fresh and invigorating. Thank you so very much for making the series of six programmes available. May Dave Allen, much missed, rest in peace.
Was this really 2004? The year before he died? Such a great comedian and one of the first to engage in 'observational' comedy, rather than telling a succession of jokes. Thank you for sharing.
Dave allen, Benny hill, On the busses, Are you being served I watched these growing up with my parents who spent a lot of time in great Britain before immigrating to Canada and having me in 1969...
how did it go? you've bigger balls than anyone i know if you did that!!!! i'm from firhouse, and i got into Dave Allen by watchin my Da in tears laughin at him on BBC too.
I saw Dave at a club in Southend (The barman complained that he went on too long telling jokes ,and they were losing bar sales as the shutters were closed during his act)
About people saying that they don't want to grow old... I hope I never grow UP! Btw, I've made it to 60 with that attitude so I think I'm doing just fine :) Being grown up and matured has always looked so BORING to me. I am still a child at heart and I hope that will never change
oh thanks for the interest it went well 7 mins long time on stage in stand a good experience and i will do it again and as ya ya say it does take balls cause i was shiting myself plus i was like the 2nd last act which was hard cause some were very good which made me shit it more once i got up i was omg just started talking and next thing i knew my 7 mins was up lol as you say your dad laughing that was the same for me and you know hes from rathfarnham :) dave allen hes a true master

"I want to be able to look back on my old age." Too bad you and the Delaney twins(see CBS Sunday Morning, Charles Kuralt era), also gone, but over the century mark, never met(or contrary to your beliefs maybe you have). Whether you thought putting up with their bland lifestyle was worth it would be another matter. Sharp to the end.
A very funny man. His TV show in the early 1970s was a big fav of mine. I still find him funny today.

The late, the great, Dave Allen. Simply one of the best there has ever been. Remember watching him, and killing myself laughing, along with my dad..
