As a kid I just did not understand the lyrics but as an adult who’s gone through a divorce, this song just kills me. Anyone who’s had their heartbroken can relate to this song.
I remember this Song was the first one that i heard in my Life. Listening to it when it was released in 1980 as a 3yo boy it had such a huge Impact on me. Did not understand English at the Time yet the deep Sadness...
Everyone loses in divorce, but sometimes that's necessary to prevent further damage
im sorry you had to go through that, hope youre doing okay ❤️
"The judges will decide" = divorce court.
@ Yeah all the sh*t. Seriously.... It happens on both sides and it's terrible when people hurt.
Really? That's no big thing in Sweden afaik. (Never divorced though.) I've always assumed that "the jugdes" are the same as "the Gods with minds as cold as ice".
Agnetha Faltskog is an incredible Vocalist , and an absolutely Stunning looking woman.
Yeah I am going to sound salty, but I never got that "Oh that woman in ABBA? Oh yeah the blond one!? YEAH she was so hmmm omg" guys winking and nodding at eachother like
> o
_ yeah, right?! The blond one right?? Right > o
0 oooooh yeah she was FINE
LOL i mean she's not bad looking woman but really the fuss among guys my age and older hahah "Oh yeah Agnetha- the blond" hahah geez STOP (rolling my eyes)
Was? She’s still alive.
Still is!
@@WazigeLogica Ask your Straight guy friends to explain it to you, they will help you understand better and help you work through it. Cheers !
@@jokes881 I chuckled
This song was released in 1980. The 2 couples in ABBA were married. Both marriages were breaking up at the same time. Agnetha (blonde) was married to Bjorn (blonde). Anni-Frid (brunette) was married to Benny (brunette). Agnetha and Bjorn divorced in 1980. Anni-Frid and Benny divorced in 1981.
ABBA member Bjorn wrote this after separating from wife and fellow band member, Agnetha Fältskog. It's about a divorce where one person doesn't want to separate and clings desperately to the marriage. It put Agnetha in the strange spot of being asked to sing a breakup song written by her ex-husband. "I had this image of a man walking through an empty house with all the furniture removed for the last time as the symbol of divorce and just describing what I see."
Bjorn has said that while he usually didn't use drugs or alcohol while writing, he had a bottle of brandy next to him while writing the lyrics for this song. It was very personal to him. He told The London Times March 26, 2010: "Usually it's not a good idea to write when you're drunk, but it all came out on that one. By the time I wrote 'The gods may throw their dice' the bottle was empty."
If you watch the other video for this song (where they're on a stage) at one point you see Agnetha's (ex) husband briefly look over to her with the saddest look in his eye. Must've hurt to have to perform this song together.
@@alexg1778 and he is the one who wrote the song
@@shaundgb7367 A similar situation happened with No Doubt. Gwen and Tony were dating when the band first started. They broke up when they recorded Tragic Kingdom. Most of the songs on that album Gwen wrote about Tony. Imagine how they felt having to play those songs every concert.
Then there's Fleetwood Mac. They all pushed through despite the break ups and divorces.
How they do it, I don't know. I prefer not to see the ex after a break up but there is more to consider being in a group or band.
@@alexg1778 He wrote those lyrics for her to sing about their breakup. What incredible compassion and empathy he must have
Agneta's husband was so cruel, having her singing this song even when it was too painful for her to sing.
Every minute there is sold 4 ABBA records around the world 🎶 ❤️ ABBA FOREVER
Omg haven’t heard song in years. She had beautiful eyes.
@@sg-yq8pm Lmao
@@sg-yq8pm 🤣🤣🤣
You got chills cause this is quality music, agnetha is not just beautiful on the outside! I have seen many singers try to sing this song, but they fail as they don't have the searing impact she did,she meant every word she sang, she is still a soprano with a delicate yet super powerful voice, what a talent and no autotune ! ABBA are pure joy, down to earth, they seem simple but the voices, instruments and production are out of this world. They are one and only .
Truly a beautiful breakup song... Teaches you about being an adult about it and accepting things when they end. Grew up with a lot of Abba in the house. One of the most talented bands of their era.... Remember you are loved..
The saddest ,most beautiful, breakup song ever !
ABBA’s song ‘SOS’ is pretty darn good too.
BAHAHAHA!! We LOVE it when you show us your arm!!!😆 And, we most definitely can see your goosebumps!! Oh and I Love Abba too!! Brings back good childhood memories!!😊❤
Finally did the best abba song 💪😎🦵
Mr. Video: "Somebody die?"
Mr. Video, with slightly more alarm in his voice: "Rules must be obeyed?"
Mr. Video, with indignation and alarm: "The JUDGES will decide?!? What the hell did you do, ABBA? You didn't go out and whack somebody, did you?"
OMG, thank you so much Leo. I haven't laughed that hard in days!!
LOL - when Mr. Video asked "You didn't go out & whack somebody, did you?" The thought that popped into my head was "No, not ABBA, but Tom Jones on the other hand...Well, now....Hmm" :-P
LOL, Mr.Video's reactions are ALWAYS some of my favorite ever!!
agree, so funny!
I laughed SO HARD at that part in his reaction 😂😂😂
This song is so full of emotion.
Agnetha is just as beautiful today... recently turned 71 yrs old on April 5th.... She & I share the same birthday. :-)
Love it when the Mr. Video notification comes through ❤️
“I wonder if they did any switcharoos” oh my😂🤣🤣
XO❤️
Oh your down the ABBA rabbit hole. The best place to be 😎😍😍
When I was a kid, I thought Agnetha was sooooooooo beautiful. 😍🤩😍
Edit: I still do. 😁
Im still thinking that lol
@@smokingfresh8727 Yeah, I need to edit that. 😁
@@smokingfresh8727 don't start it...
"What am I showing you all, a black arm? God I love watching your reactions!!🤣 Another great song..💃🎵
Leo - it's about divorce!!. He cheated, she lost.
I love you how you have compassion for the people who are suffering. Keep on like that and give them strength 💓 you are a very good man and person
One hell of a cheating/divorce/ broken heart/ she was done wrong and all these individuals had to sing one last song together. This was the end of ABBA . It's a divorce song. End of a era.
The singers have always denied that, saying it was a song about a divorce but not theirs. Their last TV performance was in Dec 1982.
I think it was a Big Brother divorce
@@prd1073 Yes, but he admitted it was inspired by it as he wrote it during their divorce, after drinking a bottle of vodka. Agneta has said that it has both of their sides in it. So its about a divorce, and it is quite heavily inspired by theirs.
She has such a tremendous , and beautiful voice...this band had hit after hit , and truly was , along with their contemporaries of the day like Queen , ELO , and such were the voice of the music of the 70's.
I got the chills even before she started singing, and then she came in🔥
I love Abba!! Thanks for doing them 😊😁
I love ABBA! Great song reaction!🙂👍❤
Beautiful! ABBA is my fav group ever! ❤️❤️ Alot of great songs waiting...Love your reactions!
Don't know how much of their history you know but ABBA was actually all four first initials...Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid. They were also two married couples who ended in divorce. If you hear this song knowing that, it will make much more sense.
One of my Favourite ABBA's songs. Takes me back a few summers though ... Glad to see you like them, Leo
The ABBA rabbit hole is very deep. My favorite ABBA song is"My Love My Life", another break-up song. Every Saturday I listen to a radio station out of Scotland. Three hours of non-stop ABBA music ⁉️ It's wonderful 💜💜💜
My Love My Life is also my favourite ABBA tune,Ronnie, closely followed by The Winner Takes it All. Pure brilliance!
I absolutely dig you jamming Abba it's the coolest thing I've seen God bless you son....
A real tearjerker, but with lots of gloss and glamour...
❤❤❤ Love ABBA!
Was waiting for your next video. Love Abba..Keep up the great work🙂
Thank you so much
Leo,always a pleasure.
Their song, "Waterloo" is also a good one.
You really think so? Imho, they have 30 songs better than that one...
Please choose a live version where they show off their fine legs.
I don't know why, but I hate Waterloo and Mamma Mia. I am obsessed with most of abbas hit songs. But I actually find those two particular songs intolerable to listen to. Its very bizarre. I don't have an explanation for it. I have never even been able to listen to either one of those songs in their entirety. I can listen to the other songs repeatedly, all day long, and never get sick of them.
My favorite Abba songs are
Winner Takes it All
Super Trooper
Fernando
SOS
Dancing Queen(used to be my favorite. But I may have overplayed it over the years to the point where I still love it, but replay it ten times when I play the video, like I so with their other songs.
Knowing Me, Knowing you
@@herrbonk3635 agree
This is my favourite ABBA song. I understand exactly how it feels and I feel this song in my soul. Great reaction!
She is obviously a stunner but somehow her talent supersedes even her special beauty 👍
Everyone who grew up in the 70's in New Zealand & Australia loved this band. Us boys loved the girls as you are seeing now.. great that you younger people get to see it now coz it's absolute quality stuff.
One of best of ABBA i love it 💚🧡❤💙💛💜💙💜💛❤💚🧡❤💙💜💛🧡💚💙
Your tiger snarl at the end was priceless ! Bwahahaha
Please do more Abba. They are so incredible. Any song, you cannot go wrong.
The Gods Of Pop matey.
That was a fine tiger impression. You could take that on the road!
Lol! I nearly fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard when you started growling!!! 😆😆😆
First time hearing this song I cried it’s so beautiful. Love your reactions! Keep up the good work.
Hey Leo i remember this Song Great Song ABBA winner takes it all your Reaction was Cool 😎
Amazing wavy blonde hair.
I heard on the news last week , that they recently finished recording more music. Gotta love ABBA.💛
You all heard of a love triangle, Abba had a love rectangle.
Scandalous!
absolutely loooove your natural and laid-back reactions! keep ´em coming!
More ABBA please
Just subscribed from New Zealander.
How about “Knowing Me Knowing You” and “Take A Chance On Me” 😍
Where in NZ are u from Ted? I am also from NZ.
This was a song for that moment, they've all moved on, all were winners in the end, and friends. Beautiful sad song, that most can relate too, we wouldn't appreciate our up without some down moments. 😪❤
“You didn’t go out and whack anybody did you?” Love you Leo 👏🏻💜😍
a classic 70's babe
SOS and. One of Us are 2 great ABBA songs, love. your reaction.
I saw the goose bumps.
This song takes me back in time, heartbreaking but beautiful ☹️💓
Beautiful song. You're awesome Leo! 🎶❣️
Leo you have no idea how much you brighten my day! That laugh, your honest opinion/thoughts are the best. And yes I love it when you get the chills, no matter if we see them or not! It just means you feel the music. It’s a very deep song. You killed me when you said “I wonder if they did any switcharoos”. Comedy gold my Midwest neighbor!! Love ya lots! ❤️😘
Awww Leo, you are so sweet, funny and naughty, and we love it!! Thanks again for brightening my day!
They look the nicest in "Summer Night City"
THIS
This kid cracks me up everytime. I loved when he pulled a 'Madea' when he said singgging. 😋 And his reference to switcharoo, lmao 😆
Yeah they switched around!
'Somebody die?; no, much much worse! If you've been through it, or something very similar, you'll know.....This song will last for all time.
Great reaction Leo. You're hilarious. Love you!
Two sisters who married two brothers. The blonde was married to the one playing the guitar, he wrote this for her, and she cried when he gave it to her, they had divorced at this point. Her sister was married to Benny the piano player. The men were the ones who wrote the music. Swedes are very beautiful people.
They were not sisters. They were not related at all.
They were not brothers either get your facts correct first.
Love ABBA ! Anything they sang is 🔥 Definitely need more of them 💯
ABBA, yes! Go Sweden. Always happy when you play Swedish. They have so many great songs! 😊❤️🇸🇪
Yasssss was waiting for this one! Love you buddy ♡♡♡
ABBA hits to check out next- Take a chance on me, Fernando, Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie!, Voulez-vous, S.O.S., Knowing me-knowing you, Does your mother know?, Money money money, Waterloo, Chiquitita, & Super Trouper...
These nordic type women really are something special. Can't deny that.
We know you got the chills. We got 'em too!
The Visitors is not really well known, but a banger!

She poured her heart out.. she was perfect great looks great voice she had it all
Oooh, ABBA is one of my favorite bands of all time! Pick a song, and its a favorite, lol.
Right?
Love Abba!!
Great reaction☺😉👍👍❤
One of the greatest saddest songs ever. Sad as in a heartbreaking divirce it brings tears to the listener. The blonde was an still is beautiful. Another kinda sad but great song you should check out is kayleigh by marillion.
Such a harsh reality of a divorce put quite tenderly to music and song!
In love "Lay all your love on me".
One of my favorite songs!
It's about reflecting on the end of a relationship.
hey well i can see the goosebumps almost every time, foreal
This song takes your heart, rips it out, stomps on it, then throws it back in your chest. And I love it. And yes, she sings the hell out of it.😍
This and Phil Collins In The Air Tonight definitely best Divorce/Cheating songs ever !
It's a breakup song... written by the guys (Bjorn & Benny) of Abba, likely inspired by the experience of Bjorn and Agnetha's divorce in 1978. Shortly after this, the other couple Benny & Anni-Frid split up as well. The last 2 Abba records had a lot of sad & dark songs... Bjorn admitted that their breakups likely helped create their best music...
From what I gather, Agnetha was very young when she met Bjorn and they fell in love, got married & had a child... But as Abba's popularity grew, they were expected to tour and Agnetha was not keen on that... and the pressure to deliver hits had Bjorn and Benny 'directing' Agnetha & Anni-Frid's vocals in the studio likely created tensions & negative feelings in their relationships. Bjorn said he and Agnetha tried to salvage their marriage and had another child, but they separated by 1978... but would still work together in Abba. Agnetha admitted it was a painful experience & likely contributed to Abba's eventual split.
The lyrics say it all: "I don't want to talk about the things we've gone through..." - there's nothing left to say. We've both said & done everything we can to make this relationship work... but the time has come to take what u can and walk away...
Oh yay! Thanks for reacting to this song!
Such a classic!!! Sad break up song, sang beautifully ♥️♥️ ABBAs song “Name of the game” is a straight up banger!! Oh and “Voulez Vous” 💃🏻🕺🏽🙌🙌
I love abba
Great reaction to my favourite ABBA song, written during their marriage break-up.
This is Agnethas and Björns divorce song, Björn wrote it for her to sing. Quite brutal but she said that’s why she could put in all her emotions in the song cos it was real. The judges will decide is about the divorce in the court. He remarried and she stayed single till this day.
ABBA is the first letters of the members in the group; Agneta, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid. Agneta and Björn were a couple, but broke up. Agneta is singing about the breakup with Björn. Anni-Frid and Benny were also an item.
Yay im happy you did ABBA, as a proud Swede I am
Dear Leo, you had me rofl 😂.
❤️
All 4 members of ABBA are multi-millionaires.
the song is a breakup song, after Agnetha (the lead singer here) and Björn broke up. He wrote it, for her to sing. Björn has later claimed it wasnt about their breakup ("there was no winner or loser in our breakup"), but he also admitted to writing it deep in a bottle of booze right after the breakup ("by the time I wrote 'the gods may throw their dice' the bottle was empty") so I dont know whether to believe it had nothing to do with their breakup. That and the fact there were "quite a few tears in the studio" after they worked on it there. Agnetha has said it is a mix of her own and Björn's feelings about the breakup.
ABBA!!! 👍👌🙌💕
Your girlfriend (the brunette) - her name is Frida - had a song called ‘I Know There’s Something Going On’ that you should do, FOR SURE.
@Vincent Schmitt Man, it was. Remember the video? MTV wore that joint out.
Yeah that's a great song to react to for sure!!!
@Vincent Schmitt Funny what gets burned into our memory, huh? 🙂
Yes!!
Thanks for the recommendation. Apparently Phil Collins is behind the drums on this one. Nice track
