    It's funny, when I first listened to this album I wasn't that crazy about it. However I caught myself hummin the beats and sampled vocals in my day dreams. The beats are unorthodox but for some reason sound familiar. The juxtaposition of earl's monotone vs the crazy beat is like earl fighting against a torrent of a musical barrage, and the only way to win is to conquer the beat with lyrics

    Maybe my favourite Rap Album ever. So deep lyrics,such great sounding beats,so influential.
    And Experimental Stuff is always the way to go. I dont wanna hear the same sounding people on the same hard beats.

      Experimental Hip-hop feels like the only art-form in hip-hop, left these days. Earl's Some Rap Songs & Danny Brown's Atrocity Exhibition are two great examples.

      I think you have to let some projects in general marinate because their ideas aren't easy to digest for anyone. I've been suspect of passing albums in the past and then on replay think it's suddenly genius. So don't feel too hard on yourself, there is a certain beauty in being able to reprocess and understand true value - that's what makes us human for sure

    Of course I had listened to the album upon release, but it wasn’t until I was listening to it on the daily while self quarantining with COVID over Christmas holiday. I was at home alone, the rest of my family was vacationing in another country. Listening to the album became more a self-confrontation, sharing many similar emotions with Earl. This album means the world to me.

    Thank you, man! It's quite hard to understand Earl's songs if your English level is only intermediate for now. After watching your video, I'm really happy I checked the whole Earl's discography because even a couple of words in a line has its own deep meaning and makes vivid images in your head. Your help is invaluable!

    Honestly i dont like the use of metaphors and poetic language in music. I feel like i cant keep up to what he's trying to say and instead of feeling his words more i dont really feel anything at all.

    • @Joshdrew352
      @Joshdrew352 Рік тому +4

      Rap stands for Rythm and Poetry. Rap isn’t the genre for you if you don’t like metaphors and poetic language

    • @andres-er3of
      @andres-er3of Рік тому

      @@Joshdrew352 I strongly disagree. Most of what rappers say in their lyrics arent metaphors or have hidden meanings. Only references and clever wordplay which are entirely different.
      If anything id say rap is less cryptic than most music and thats exactly what i like about it.

    • @andres-er3of
      @andres-er3of Рік тому

      @@Joshdrew352 also rap doesnt come from rhythm and poetry. It comes from the verb to rap, which means to strike with a quick blow or to utter sharply

      I don’t have the energy to argue with that since I lost brain cells reading your reply so here

    • @andres-er3of
      @andres-er3of Рік тому

      @@Joshdrew352 bruh youre full of shit. Your acronym was objectively wrong and you jack off to deep meanings in lyrics which you have to fucking analyse for hours just to get a senselss message. If you wanna say something to someone you wouldnt hide it under a hundred metaphors and double meanings because you wanna look smart. You might as well not say anything at all if its "up for interpretation".
      I've listened to a shit ton of classic rap albums and most of them say shit directly. Cuz thats the essence of hip hop, saying shit to your face, no pussy shit
