I was in high school when this album came out. Ended up memorizing damn near the whole thing. Everybody else was listening to laffy taffy. I'd tell them "I'll still be listening to this in 10, 15, 20 years. Y'all won't be listening to laffy taffy or Mike Jones." Sure enough, I still love this album, and I bet nobody here even remembers who recorded laffy taffy.

Feels weird to talk about this record as being from 'back in the day' even though it is about 17 years old as I type. Sounds fresh and interesting to me. The record is by Madvillain, not Madlib and MF Doom. I never knew back then how popular Doom was, but over the years in Australia, I'd talk about about Madlib to folk and receive blank reacts until I mentioned Doom and peeps would always be like 'yeah, Doom is funny, Doom is cool'. This video makes me think of these conversations. Appreciated listening to this, agree with everything, just would've loved hearing some thoughts about the Sun Ra poem which is over and above everything on this excellent album imo.

For the average listener, DOOM is just rhyming stuff which doesn't really make sense but if you pay heed, every line is a triple/quadruple entendre with dopeass metaphors. This man's rhyming scheme is so out of the world, like every word rhymes with something else in the verse. He's so complex, I get headaches in analysing what he's spitting. He really is the king of underground rap and the only one befitting to be called *supervillain* of Hiphop. Lastly, am very glad that you acknowledged me and kept my wish.❤️
