This video is brilliant! I love how you analyzed Persona's connection to Jungian Psychology. As someone who has spent quite a bit of time looking into Personas connection to this as well as some of the other themes in the games as well and I can say your video was both entertaining and even instructive for someone like me. I see you are a big fan of EVA as well so basically, I HAVE to subscribe to you now, you seem far too awesome not to. lol
Wow, thanks for making this video. Even though I have myself analysed the Persona series to death and got into countless arguments about it your video actually sort of made me question myself and rethink or reimpose things I haven't thought about. It's hard to believe something like a UA-cam video can really make you rethink yourself.
I love this. I think The persona series also took great inspiration from George Herbert Meads Dramaturgical Analysis as well as modern sociology. Utterly brilliant
Your on fire sir! Keep it up, a video on Paprika AND Catherine would be greatly appreciated. Satishi Kon's work in general too...Oh heck, you keep doing you, its AWESOME!
I would give you half of the money for my payday because I love you and your cat even though I don’t know you. I’m happy you are back. I missed you for sonlong
for me the function of persona in respect to jungian psychology is more like the archetype of Self. In P4, after you defeat ones Shadow, persona of the character is awoken, this synonymous to the confrontation with the Shadow.
Mhn, I believe the original Persona games, 1 and 2 were bit better with some aspects in story-wise. Persona Revelations SEBEC route story was pretty heavy with symbolism, though... I prefer how they made characters in Persona 2, even Persona 1. It's mostly due to the fact that characters evolve in their own accord throughout the story, rather than being stuck in Social Links for that. Not to mention that all characters had Arcanas, even your main character, which you can basically only use the Personas, that have those Arcanas. Everybody could go to the Velvet Room, and it would even do some plot-related stuff, giving it a bit more meaning. And also the one who gave humankind Personas, Philemon and his rival Nyarlatothep, was interesting.
0utta S1TE Real fans of Shin Magoomy Tensay games, that's what, you fucking pleb. Seriously though, those games are fantastic plot wise. Gameplay wise, they're not the best, but Atlus was trying something new with them, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I hope that Persona someday takes a crack at the other Jungian concept of anima and animus, although I have an adverse reaction to the subject of gender identity. Also the protagonist of Persona 5 is attractive as hell.
I tried to explain why persona is amazing to a friend who thought it's only a dating sim but this vid put everything I thought about into words so thanks
Persona 2's ending is one that is actually tragic and of consequence. I love it and fuck Atlus for never localizing Eternal Punishment's PSP version(The fan translation is currently in NEVER EVER status so don't get your hopes up there)
jungs later work is largely stemmed from gnostics with the discovery of the nag hammadi texts and dead sea scrolls, he even stated in his red book that he was influenced by simon magus, anyways.. the idea we stem from a source, become torn away from it into this realm, incomplete and deformed from source, theres micro and macro personas, persona that contains all persona is called the logos, or aeon. this is the great expression of the times, the culmination of everything right now, moving forward, also attributed with subconscious. that why the human body doesnt have eyes on the back of our heads, we, ourselves are symbolic of what we experience, love your vids, bro
i own a copy of the red book by the way, first edition, i would recommend buying one as they are astonishing, the artwork is superb, and its a good investment
How long are you working on such Masterpiece? youre insight is incredible. I enjoyed every singel Monment of not only this but all your Videos. I think i'am in Love with your Mind😂😂
Hey daddyStef why don't u do a play through of P5? I would enjoy that. No analysis just some fun times. Not trying to turn it channel into a gaming channel.
I don't know why i never felt much in any game but then i saw persona 5 from the moment i saw it i new it was perfect i wen't to a wallmart to buy another game but there it was just waiting for me i knew i had to have it first time i pop the disc i saw the intro i new i made the great decesion
I love persona so much, or at least the idea of it. It makes me really sad to hear or play it tho, I know that they'll never have a female protagonist again so that's not gr8
I'd say Makoto but thats because she had the most character development in the main story and nuclear is never Null or absorbed from most shadows. I really wished Haru and Futaba had more character development tbh. Kawakami is a close second because she is the most useful confidant and she practically lived in Leblanc every night :^)
That moment when everyone talks about symbolism and shit but they haven't even played P1 and P2, the games with the most symbolism. P4 and P5 have little to no definite meaning. Let's never mention the wreck known as P4. In the words of Rog, play a real Shin Megami Tensei. ;P (Not to the video creator, I clearly see they have most SMT Ps2 era games)
Dre Well here you go : Persona 4: The symbolism for personas and shadows does not make any sense. Persona: It an aspect of our personality that we show to different people. In work you might act one way and at home you might act another, this is an persona. The persona usually grows from the parts of people that wished once to please teachers, parents, and other authority figures, and as such it leans heavily toward embodying only one’s best qualities, leaving those negative traits which contradict the Persona to form the “Shadow”. This leads to the next point. Shadows: Those traits that we dislike, or would rather ignore, come together to form what Jung called the Shadow. Now notice that the shadow is not the dark side but parts of are selves that we want to hide. In persona 4 when the characters accept their shadows they turn into personas. This does not make sense for the following reasons: 1) This implies that personas and shadows are the same thing they even state it in the game. But as you can see from the definitions this is not true. 2) If you accept your shadow then in persona's case the shadow should weaken or dissappear. Because shadows are not are just are dark side their traits that we try to hide about ourselves when we show a persona to someone we try to present only are good (or bad traits depending on the situation) to people. However if you accept your shadow they your not trying to present a faccade to the world anymore your not trying to hide or ignore certain traits, since this where the shadow comes from it should go away. 3) Persona 4 disregards what an persona is it is not something we use to "overcome lives hardships" as stated by Persona 2 they are "masks" that we present to the world. 4) Plus why in the world would we have a shadow before we gain a persona. You mainly gain an persona before you get a shadow or maybe at the same time. Shadows come from Personas remember. There could of been a way this could of worked where the shadow fuses with the personality of the character creating a stronger individual however even then for the Shadow to become a persona makes no sense. Finally, finding about your identity is never explored in the game main story but only in the social links however SL are optional thus do not affect the plot. Persona 5: This game simply relies on the illusion of depth. Being free from your persona is never explored in the game except for a few exceptions. And when it is the character development is not compelling due to the meh characterization. The game tries to be grey but the portrayal of authority is so cartoony that it becomes black and white. I can talk about P5 more but this is enough for me. However am not an expert so feel free to correct me. Cheers.
all your vids are a true treasure on this wasteland called youtube

word of advice: get it, live it, love it
I love this. I think The persona series also took great inspiration from George Herbert Meads Dramaturgical Analysis as well as modern sociology. Utterly brilliant
Your on fire sir! Keep it up, a video on Paprika AND Catherine would be greatly appreciated. Satishi Kon's work in general too...Oh heck, you keep doing you, its AWESOME!
is nobody gonna mention how the mad man pulled out a real fucking butterfly knife to shove coffee with??
Stellar video. Just so happened that I recently started replaying P3. Synchronicity ftw!
I would give you half of the money for my payday because I love you and your cat even though I don’t know you. I’m happy you are back. I missed you for sonlong
Thank you for putting out videos. Your videos are some of the best. You always put so much effort into them and it's so great. Thank you!
Man I've known about Jungian for a while, interesting stuff, really enjoyed the vid, thanks.
Persona 5 was my first persona game and I absolutely LOVE it for all the ideas packed into it!
I really, really appreciate your content Stef. Truly excellent, and so entertaining.
Also 2001ASO cat

Awesome! Would love to see you dive into the realm of dreams, Paprika is a great film.
between your videos, your coffee and your butterfly knife skills you have me very impressed
+sudoStef thank you the video and insights into persona 5.
looks like someone has never played Persona 1 and 2
That would be most Persona fans, sadly. *smh*
0utta S1TE Real fans of Shin Magoomy Tensay games, that's what, you fucking pleb.
Seriously though, those games are fantastic plot wise.
Gameplay wise, they're not the best, but Atlus was trying something new with them, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Sudo have you ever played Xenogears? It's a strange game that touches on the subject of Jungian psychology but it is more focused on Freud's theories.
As soon as I started reading Jungs books and replayed 4 my brain exploded
God has returned.
Finally someone who understands it man who sees what persona really is
this game sounds brilliant indeed and I'd love to play it for myself but I don't have a playstation.
Pcsx2 or PPSSPP is a great way to play them
Sad Lain If he has no other way of playing it then I agree, I'll still call emu gamers trash.
Not that my opinion matters to complete strangers.
Speak Evil hahah nah I'd prefer playing it on playstation too, I might get myself one.
Was expecting persona as a whole & immediately see nothing but 3-5. Persona 1 had the best Jung approach hands down
great video, do more
This stuff is like DMT group trips. I think Ayahuasca causes group hallucinations sometimes? Not sure. Look into Terrance McKenna too.
which persona video osts played in this video?
Persona 1 has the best use of Jungian Psychology.
Persona 2 has the best plot, btw.
P1 and P2 all characters have multiple Personas...
Crok425 Is that you Belstack?
Sorry, wrong number, dude.
What a shame Persona's a waifu-collecting school sim now.
Persona 2's ending is one that is actually tragic and of consequence. I love it and fuck Atlus for never localizing Eternal Punishment's PSP version(The fan translation is currently in NEVER EVER status so don't get your hopes up there)
Really? I had no idea. People who are fans of the other Persona games usually disparage the first two as far as I've seen.
jungs later work is largely stemmed from gnostics with the discovery of the nag hammadi texts and dead sea scrolls, he even stated in his red book that he was influenced by simon magus, anyways.. the idea we stem from a source, become torn away from it into this realm, incomplete and deformed from source, theres micro and macro personas, persona that contains all persona is called the logos, or aeon. this is the great expression of the times, the culmination of everything right now, moving forward, also attributed with subconscious. that why the human body doesnt have eyes on the back of our heads, we, ourselves are symbolic of what we experience, love your vids, bro

Can you make a separate video talking about your opinion on the ending
Here is a direct link to the song on my channel from the video: ua-cam.com/video/tz4tk-PJyu8/v-deo.html
Man and His Symbols is great. If you really love his stuff you should look into Manly P Hall. The Secret Teachings of All Ages is an amazing book.
Sudo you maverick, using a butterfly knife as a substitute spoon. What other problems have you ingeniously and creatively solved?
Thanks so much for making another great video! I love your channel.
How long are you working on such Masterpiece? youre insight is incredible. I enjoyed every singel Monment of not only this but all your Videos. I think i'am in Love with your Mind😂😂
2:10 I'm triggered. Has Sojiro not taught you how to make coffee yet?
i would really like a video where you go way in deph with a spoiler warning for people who havent played the game
Could you make a book list or something, feel like we'd get some interesting stuff.
Now you need to cover chapter 125 of Tokyo Ghoul... I'll wait...
Hey daddyStef why don't u do a play through of P5? I would enjoy that. No analysis just some fun times. Not trying to turn it channel into a gaming channel.

I love persona so much
What kind of development work do you do? I'm guessing Java?
what would be the best Persona game to start off at ?
Persona didn't start with 3 though
make a video about the dead sea scroll nge
Naoto is best waifu
Saikawa Sensei she is the only waifu. Her and futaba
I find your taste in waifus to be disturbing.
Cake# excuse me. What is wrong with Naoto and Futaba
Naoto is good but reminder smt is not a waifu simulator.
Sad Lain wtf. It's like a social sim too half of us look forward to that aspect of it along with the romance portion. Don't deny it.
talk about
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei
Perhaps you should rename your channel to SudoIntellectual heheheheheheheheh
Nice knife play
Nice keyboard!
I like the video, but the editing was just so disorientating to look at in some areas.
I love persona so much, or at least the idea of it. It makes me really sad to hear or play it tho, I know that they'll never have a female protagonist again so that's not gr8
What's the name of the first song that plays?
Memories of the City (from the Persona 3 soundtrack)
flatlander thx
>why persona is brilliant
>only latter half of the series
:^)
Who's best p5 waifu tho sudostef?
Ann with makoto as a close second.
GMoney If it isnt Haru rethink your choices
GMoney Same as every Persona: Igor.
GMoney Makoto. Haru's a close contender. Just my thoughts.
I'd say Makoto but thats because she had the most character development in the main story and nuclear is never Null or absorbed from most shadows. I really wished Haru and Futaba had more character development tbh. Kawakami is a close second because she is the most useful confidant and she practically lived in Leblanc every night :^)
Thats what I wanted to do to my copy of FFXV after playing P5.
How many knifes of sugar do you drink your coffee with?
I hope you don't get arrested for ATLUS related crimes.
Why your Rei want to hang herself? Ohh wait it's just Rei forget what i asked...
Persona 2 best
Dude. Do you still love me?
25 seconds and already putting fighting words in your video.
Let's hope the rest of the video is entertaining.
great, you just cant help putting evangelion in every one of your videos
8:01 !
play a real SMT game
That moment when everyone talks about symbolism and shit but they haven't even played P1 and P2, the games with the most symbolism.

Freud was better than Jung
I prefer kingdom hearts!!!
I hate to say it ... but Persona 4 and Persona 5 don't explore it very well. In fact Persona 5 honestly the most shallow game in the series.
Sonic Badass Elaborate

Cheers.
This during P5 not at all did I feel actually immersed in the game the writing got worst even in comparison to P4.
Sad Lain I see.
weeeeeeeeeee
I honestly don't like Persona 5.
Persona Series>everything else
Really pretentious.
You mean like your d!ck?
Why ? I can see why you're saying that but at the same time I don't understand
Yet he skipped the psychology of P1 and P2.
Persona 2 is the best one still
jej no
markel9000 No one even remembers persona 1 and 2
gameplay-wise definatly not, however it has by far the best story
P2 is great. Nocturne is best smt though.
Good thing Atlus made it so simple for us English speakers in the west to play it. Oh wait...
