How can one choose.........they are all great, all my favorites.....if he just stood there and smiled, that would be my best favorite...love him and all he does.
Never been to Spain that's soulful operetic performance has to be his best one of 1972 that was a classic vocal masterpiece and that melodious it's impossible that Rich dark baritone of Elvis fantastic you gave me a mountain Elvis on tour the voice so rich and powerful The voice more powerful than a hundred opera singers it's over another great song sweet but powerful ballad so beautiful and dramatic and I have to mention one beautiful studio ballad it's a matter of time you can hear the country and soul in his voicethose are my top five Elvis performances of 1972 thank you I love this beautiful video and this in all your videos are awesome Elvis was the greatest 👍🏼✌🏼😎✋
It's Impossible has always been a favourite because it's so different..Elvis and the Orchestra. It really brings out the finer qualities of his voice. Yes he could do loud but he could also do quiet better than anyone. He was a vocal genius and could colour any song any way he chose.
When Elvis Presley sang American Trilogy at MSG & Hampton Roads, VA in ‘72, Those performances of that song were some of the best of that year. Even though he introduced the song in Jan of 1972 in Vegas, E made the song ALOT better in the spring and then on. ‘72 was a pivotal year for him.
My top 5 from 72 would be: - The impossible dream (MSG) - What now my love (august Vegas) - I can't stop loving you (Hampton Roads) - You've lost that loving feeling (MSG) - Are you lonesome tonight? (Hampton Roads) Honorable mentions: -it's over (Richmond) -For the good times (MSG) -Never been to spain (MSG)
In general, my favorite is "Never Been to Spain". But among these three I'll go with an "Impossible Dream", because it is a very beautiful song and Elvis performed it well at the MSG.
Impossible dream n you gave me a mountain )it's joint to hard to call ! lol I also like how great thou art in Virginia!! Keep Lisa in your thoughts n prayers !!
If I pick one of these it’s #2- Impossible Dream . .it’s been told how one of his favorite songs is: I’ll Remember You, he sang it plentry of places and the performance that stands out is The Aloha Tour, 1973.
No doubt about it for me. The greatest performance he gave in 1972 was An American Trilogy in the afternoon performance of June 10. He did several songs better that afternoon than in the evening performance. I played it on the jukebox in a local pub a while back and a lady sitting at the opposite end of the bar said "Who is singing that? It sends shivers up the back of my neck." I found it hard to believe that there was someone who did not recognize the voice of Elvis. It also showed me that he continues to gather new fans.
The impossible dream. This was the best performance of his hairy chest and that belt that hugged his little waist! Terrific pictures!! Enjoyed them all!!
Proud Mary, You Gave Me A Mountain, Burning Love and Suspicious Minds and Love Me Tender are some of my favorites to hear of Elvis. He could always get the crowd going. Thank you for sharing with us. A fan if Elvis for life. Long live Elvis!
I was 11 years old in November of '72 when I saw Elvis live in San Bernardino at the Swing Auditorium... complete awe and wonder for the entire concert.
Guys we are all missing the real thing which was when he sang Polk salad Annie He got the crowd going and Ronnie tutt on the drums now that was an incredible preformance
I can't shoose becose I love them alls they are all mazing fantastic elvis presley wow man..thank you for this video I love your videos all about elvis presley you're doing à good job ....bless you man..we love elvis presley this mazing fantastic américain artist ....bless u elvis ..
I choose gave me a mountain out of your list, but on a side note the best version of “cant help falling in love” is richmond from on tour.. really powerful and a finishing big note you will never hear him do in any other show! I think such a good year for him.
I just checked out that version of Can't Help Falling in Love and you're absolutely right, Elvis finishes so strongly. He even belts out one last high note during the crescendo - fantastic!
1972 is a very tough year to choose from. From your list I'd pick Never Been To Spain. His power and vocal energy is unmatched. But my own list would've included the Evening concert version of Heartbreak Hotel at MSG on 10th June 1972. Vocally and instrumentally, it is simply a stunning version, with the band playing as if their lives depended on it. Plus, it's one of the few times where Elvis performs it straight without laughing or joking through the song. Give it another spin at high volume to see what I mean.
I saw Elvis at the Las Vegas Hilton in December 1973 I think. They awarded him his 8th degree black belt Karate award on stage. He was the best entertainer I ever saw in Vegas. A truly great performer.
#4 was my most favorite. The honorable mentions were very nice also. Thank you so much for your posts. I enjoy getting them and can't wait to watch them.
Ok, you made me cry. I was there the evening of June 10, 1972 at Madison Square Garden and that song is one of my favorites. I can still see those red jewels flashing. I can still see that beautiful face. Thank you. 💙
Never Been To Spain is just awesome. ‘72 is my favorite Elvis year. The variety of music and the variety of stage outfits just make this year beyond compare for me, although ‘73 is a respectable 2nd place.
Impossible Dream. The vocal ranges required display the incredible voice and breathing control Elvis was capable of. His affinity for opera is on full display during this selection.
You're right about how hard it is to pick a top 5. I bet you could do another 3or 4 top 5's from 72 and wouldn't be wrong. I love Trilogy from Hampton Roads and Never Been to Spain from my hometown San Antonio. Biased of course. Great videos you're doing
What now my love from aloha from Hawaii and how great thou art from Elvis on Tour are just two of my favs that really show the incredible voice the King had!!
5:Mountain Vegas, Aug-Sep. 4:Never Been to Spain Vegas, Aug-Sep. 3:Polk Salad Annie, November Tour. 5:Burning Love, November Tour. 1:Trilogy, All year.....Perfect! But then again, what did he do that wasn't perfect. Always and forever, The King.
Thanks for all of these! It’s Impossible is so phenomenal in the way he puts so much emotion into it..I’m assuming because of his split w/Priscilla, but To Dream the Impossible Dream is beyond amazing..his voice is unbelievable and so was the man!!! Thanks again, really hard to pick just one..he was too brilliant to just have #1 favorite! Love & Peace💙
Great choice! I love It’s Impossible and It’s Over from februari 1972. His voice is so warm and sensitive at these two performances. Polk Salad Any and Proud Mary 1972 is also great. So full of energy and great dancing. See see rider and I got a woman at Hampton Roads are in the same category if you ask me!
Great choices !!! thank you for your effort it must have been very hard...I was teary with " It's Impossible" and "Impossible Dream" and dancing to " polk Salad" and "Burning "Love" and chills with " Gave Me A Mountain" I have too many favorites to single them out...great picks though🌻
My Favorite songs of 72 are Always on my mind , Burning Love , Proud Mary , Bridge over Troubled water best stage gear the dude suit with silk shirt combo , the purple owl Suit , the porthole suit , and the red Burning love suit with the international belt ...
I was 10 years old, living in Montreal in '72. CKGM, the cool radio station, played Burning Love in heavy rotation. It was the first and only time that I got to experience a big Elvis hit contemporaneously. I spent the little money I had on hockey cards, it never seemed to occur to me that I could buy the single. Oh what excitement every time Burning Love came on the radio! I got to experience this hit in real time and that was quite a thrill. I've always considered this song as "can't miss hit, but your post inspired me to check out the original release by Arthur Alexander, and man, Elvis really adds a lot to that song! Mostly, when Elvis sang a song, it stayed sung! Just as a side note; I happened upon a youtube video on John Wayne & True Grit. It makes mention that Elvis was offered the Glen Campbell role. But Colonel Tom demanded Elvis get equal billing with John Wayne? I'd like to disinter Colonel Tom and give him a good sound spanking! Anyway, thanks again, great job on this one, I especially like Proud Mary where he's asking for more base, he's totally involved.
Buying the Burning Love single was a big moment for me. I was so excited, couldn't wait to put it on the record player. Played it till i nearly wore out the stylus.
Without a doubt the best of 72.. Pissed that the Colonel didn't include a broadcast quality performance making this an event. Elvis got up and was in the zone. 4 shows and 80 thousand people showed up...The whole band was on it this night. Colonel had to know Elvis was going to prepare for the N.Y crowd, and he slayed them.. Media from around the world would be there.. Very disappointed about that..
Thank you for putting the time into researching and assembling the concert footage for this list. The video and sound quality are great. Your honorary mention for Never Been to Spain gets my #1. Again, great work.
Hard to pick, he did better, when he knew a professional camera was on him or a friend was in the audience. The Garden gig was performed more like the Elvis, we know and love, than any other entire complete performance that year. Not just my opinion, He was given the adoring title of, "Prince From Another Planet" for the performance.
“It’s Impossible” was composed by the great Mexican composer Armando Manzanero who is originally from the state of Yucatan. The song’s name is “somos novios”.
Of the 5 that you presented here, I would pick Mountain because you not only have his vocals on display, but his physical delivery of the chorus is great showmanship, as well. Finally, Elvis' heart delivers on the emotion of the song. Touches me every time.
I know this wasn’t part of the video but I loved when he wore the two and three piece suits. I think if he would have been performing to this day that’s kinda what he would have worn.
You couldn’t have picked a harder group of songs to choose from! LOL! But, I’m going to choose Polk Salad Annie because his movements and energy was awesome!
Elvis could sing the yellow pages.Sadly his first love was Gospel and had he stuck with that then maybe he lives to be an older man. Its not fair he dies at just 42 when he had more life, music, movies and love to share with his family & fans. R.I.P. 🙏
Out of those 5, my fave is #5 🎵 You Gave Me A Mountain 🎵...thank u 4 doing ur video clips of ur choice 5 best videos of 1972...i enjoyed this video MUCHLY 💘 🌹 💋
Minus the ultra-hysterical 50's teeny-laden years, for me, 1972 is ELVIS' most ADDICTIVE CONCERT PERFORMANCES in his jumpsuit career. OMG, though am no druggy freak but I feel as though I AM ONE ALREADY just for watching and/or listening to THIS GUY. WHO STARTED IT ALL . It seems that there are not enough WORDS to describe him during THIS YEAR. Indeed, a POP MUSIC KING FOREVER!!! ( P.S.: "ELVIS ON TOUR" is a concrete testimonial of what this VIDEO is all about but it's indeed a terrible REGRETFUL matter that THE KING's entire MSG stints was not officially and commercially filmed. It isn't LATE THOUGH, the ELVIS PRESLEY ENT., INC. or the EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS might come in agreement to pursue the OUTTAKES from EOT including all that can be retrieved from the MSG Concerts just as what they have done with "ELVIS- That's the Way It Is! in a SPECIAL EDITION PACKAGE. There are a great number of EP fans and admirers who are not getting any younger anymore. So, ME and THEY deserves such a huge fantastIc treat before our rendezvous to ETERNITY.)
Polk Salad Annie was from two weeks later in Wichita KC.. From what I heard he was in the zone that evening again after just learning the MSG Album already sold a million copies..
1972 MSG performances were the best. The band was super tight and Elvis never looked or sounded better. Most people don’t know this but after the live album was recorded, they took it back to the studio for remixing and the Colonel ordered the producer to speed up the recording so there would be more time to add another song to the album. If u listen carefully, u can tell that Elvis’s voice is slightly higher than normal and the songs are all slightly faster.
Thank you I’m glad you like them. And yeah, Proud Mary was perfected in 72.
Agree! "Never Been T o Spain" That was a GREAT performance also!!! ❤❤❤
It's Impossible has always been a favourite because it's so different..Elvis and the Orchestra. It really brings out the finer qualities of his voice. Yes he could do loud but he could also do quiet better than anyone. He was a vocal genius and could colour any song any way he chose.
He sang it so perfectly.
Agree. The song is originally called “somos novios” and was composed by Armando Manzanero from Mexico.
Polk Salad Annie is my #1. And I appreciate the honorable mention of “Never Been to Spain”...he owned that song. 😁
The best Polk salad Annie was in 1970 Las Vegas show
My top 5 from 72 would be:
- The impossible dream (MSG)
- What now my love (august Vegas)
- I can't stop loving you (Hampton Roads)
- You've lost that loving feeling (MSG)
- Are you lonesome tonight? (Hampton Roads)
Honorable mentions:
-it's over (Richmond)
-For the good times (MSG)
-Never been to spain (MSG)
Also mine. I've always loved his 'Are You Lonesome Tonight'!!
In general, my favorite is "Never Been to Spain". But among these three I'll go with an "Impossible Dream", because it is a very beautiful song and Elvis performed it well at the MSG.
#5 You gave me a mountain!!! THE BEST!!!🥇
Impossible dream n you gave me a mountain )it's joint to hard to call ! lol I also like how great thou art in Virginia!! Keep Lisa in your thoughts n prayers !!
For sure!
All great choices! Another gem is Bridge Over Troubled Water in the owl suit from Elvis on Tour
I know!! I could’ve put that in too.
Definitely Bridge over Troubled Water
I like the performance of bridge on the April tour at greensborough
Best recorded performance, audio and video that we have so far.
Great Elvis mix, however, I just feel that I need more, so, I would stay with watching his whole performances. My favorite is Impossible Dream.
Burning Love will ALWAYS be my Favorite Elvis song no matter what era.
If I pick one of these it’s #2- Impossible Dream . .it’s been told how one of his favorite songs is: I’ll Remember You, he sang it plentry of places and the performance that stands out is The Aloha Tour, 1973.
Yes it was a good performance from 1972 also!!
No BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER. Actually I vote Impossible Dream. I don't think he ever got the credit he deserved for it.
@@johnparent7159 impossible was one of his very best.
#5. Mountain... makes you believe every word. But bridge from Greensboro is my favorite.
No doubt about it for me. The greatest performance he gave in 1972 was An American Trilogy in the afternoon performance of June 10. The Impossible Dream by far. Totally masterpiece. By the way, Aloha’ You gave me mountain kicks 72s version of the song anytime, anywhere.
The impossible dream. This was the best performance of his hairy chest and that belt that hugged his little waist! Terrific pictures!! Enjoyed them all!!
🌠🕺🌠ELVIS FOREVER KING MAGNÍFICO E INESQUECÍVEL🔥🕺🔥🕺🔥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Never been to Spain! should have played the full song! its awesome
It is!
Always super. His voice as Gold. Elvis has to get 100 years old. ❤️
You gave me a mountain 😢
Madison Square Garden would be the last place he would do the impossible dream live.
Guys we are all missing the real thing which was when he sang Polk salad Annie
He got the crowd going and Ronnie tutt on the drums now that was an incredible preformance
I know it’s awesome! I was wondering when someone was gonna point that out! Lol
Thank u for doing this I love Elvis he’s been a big part of my life
The Impossible dream shows his vocal range in this mix!
Though not on the list Never Been to Spain from Elvis on Tour is my personal favourite
Ook

My favorite was “You gave me a mountain “. Thank you! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Be Blessed!!!
I choose gave me a mountain out of your list, but on a side note the best version of “cant help falling in love” is richmond from on tour.. really powerful and a finishing big note you will never hear him do in any other show! I think such a good year for him.

I’m picturing it right now. It’s on the DVD 0Prince from another planet.”
I’m glad!
Impossible dream......love it, my 1
For this one i choose The Impossible Dream What a voice!
What a voice I am now a Elvis !!!! Even was a little girl when he died

How great thou art is missing! Easily, in my opinion, his best of ‘72
The early 1972 Vegas recordings are the best of the concert recordings of all 1972.
My favourite in 72 is An american trilogi, afternoon show MSG. Best version every year :) on this movie i pick #1
I love American Trilogy!
❤️ ELVIS ❤️
Epic performance!!

Aloha from Hawaii was.him at his very best..Just love it..Jan.1973.
From these i think the best is you gave me a mountain, but in general i would choose bridge over trouble water from elvis on tour
Good choice! Glad you liked!!
So energetic! ⚡️

Great👑ELVIS👑✨✨🎶🎶🎶🎶💖🌏🎸🎸🌠🌠🌠👑
I was 10 years old, living in Montreal in '72. CKGM, the cool radio station, played Burning Love in heavy
rotation. It was the first and only time that I got to experience a big Elvis hit contemporaneously. I spent
the little money I had on hockey cards, it never seemed to occur to me that I could buy the single. Oh what
excitement every time Burning Love came on the radio! I got to experience this hit in real time and that was
quite a thrill. I've always considered this song as "can't miss hit, but your post inspired me to check out the

on this one, I especially like Proud Mary where he's asking for more base, he's totally involved.
It’s such a shame Col didn’t get Elvis in those roles!
Buying the Burning Love single was a big moment for me. I was so excited, couldn't wait to put it on the record player. Played it till i nearly wore out the stylus.
Haha that’s cool
All r great I agree. Thanks 4 what u do . I no u work hard 4 what u do man u r awesome 😎
I love the Hampton Roads recordings from 1972.
Me too
Performance great on (4) Mary, and (5) Proud Mary, thanks again for these outstanding performances.
Thank you for putting the time into researching and assembling the concert footage for this list. The video and sound quality are great. Your honorary mention for Never Been to Spain gets my #1. Again, great work.

That’s cool!
I "saw" Elvis in 72 but I was in the womb
At least you’re on the planet at the same he was!
you gave me a mountain is my favorite!! though i rly love the msg album too!
If I had to choose from these I'd say Polk salad annie but then again his voice is amazing on every song
He looks and sounds great! I have to say Impossible Dream is my number 1 .
#5 You Gave Me A Mountain, but love them all.
No. 5 and 2 are my favorites.💕
1972 MSG performances were the best. The band was super tight and Elvis never looked or sounded better. Yeah I’ve noticed that a heard that story as well!
It's Impossible #1
Impossible Dream #2
Proud Mary #3 (which surprises me bc it isn't normally one I care about)
Great choices, David!!
