    People can say what they want to about Elvis, all the negative comments and such. But after watching this along with many other performances throughout his career, you will see there was and never will be another performer with such electricity and magnetism. Sure Elvis had bad gigs as well, but a bad Elvis concert is still 100 times better than many of the singers/bands today. RIP Elvis, your legend will never die.

    • @xdra31
      @xdra31 3 роки тому +6

      @ElvisSung He was addicted to prescription pain medication, you make it sound as if he was a coke or heroin addict. Yes, the pills did take their toll on him, but he wasn’t obesely overweight, it was abdominal bloating that made him appear bigger than he was. And if I’m not mistaken, I believe you can just make out when you see him from the rear, he’s wearing a bulletproof vest, which also made him appear bigger. But here, he wasn’t bloated and looked great.

    • @xdra31
      @xdra31 3 роки тому +3

      @ElvisSung Oh, absolutely agree with you that prescription pills, of the kind Elvis was abusing, ie, opiates, antihistamines, tranquillisers, barbiturates, sleeping pills, are every bit as addictive, if not more, than heroin, I wasn’t disputing that. It was just the way it seemed to me you were portraying him as being in the same bracket as a heroin addict. Yes, the addiction is the same, but any other comparison stops there, heroin addicts become addicts because they start using it recreationally, whereas Elvis’ addiction was borne out of necessity through no fault of his own, to treat underlying medical conditions, and for his chronic insomnia that he suffered from his whole life.
      And apologies, the obesity reference wasn’t meant to be directed at you, as you quite correctly didn’t even mention it. It was an afterthought to negate the way Elvis was and is still being perceived as being this overweight, recluse in the final months of his life. It was really in reference to what the original poster stated. I realise now, I should have made a separate comment about it.

    • @xdra31
      @xdra31 3 роки тому +2

      @ElvisSung I only know from what I was taught in school that some use it experimentally, having used other drugs, to experience the high of heroin and feeling of the euphoria after. That’s what I meant by recreationally, wrong turn of phrase! If then they do it to self-medicate, for whatever reason, it still cannot be put in the same bracket as someone who has their medication legally prescribed by a doctor. And wow, sorry to hear you’re a recovering addict yourself but well done that you’ve stayed off it. I’m assuming, having worked in pharmacy, that you’ve been on a methadone programme ever since instead?

      @@MultiScoopedquando decidiram realizar o Aloha from Hawaii em 73, quase cometeram o mesmo erro do Elvis in Concert 1977. Diferença primordial foi que em novembro de 1972 o diretor Marty Paseta assistiu os shows de Elvis no Havaí e observou tudo que poderia ser melhorado, do visual e condição física de Elvis até o cenário e luzes. Isso motivou Elvis e a equipe em se preparar para os shows em janeiro de 1973, inclusive com um concerto de ensaio dia 12.
      Para o especial de 1977 não tiveram esse cuidado, colocaram muitas luzes quentes iluminando as arenas e o próprio Elvis realmente não se preparou. Você observa o show em Omaha dia 19 e ele estava muito nervoso e entorpecido, quando entra no ritmo o show já está perto do final e o show em Rápid City bem melhor. Sem a iluminação os demais shows seguintes foram bem melhores, inclusive o último show em Indianápolis.
      Como sempre uma série de escolhas erradas e a edição final do especial pela CBS foi desastrosa. Talvez esse material devidamente editado traria um melhor resultado final.
      Os shows da turnê de dezembro de 1976 foram ótimos

      Years of grueling Las Vegas shows and touring led to Elvis contracting an autoimmune disease leading to uveitis and pneumonia. Inflammation began to develop throughout the body, such as a twisted colon, and as a side effect of uveitis, glaucoma was on the verge of blindness. Even so, Elvis could not rest, and endured only with the prescription medicine prescribed by the quack doctor.😭
      Vicious manager Tom Parker robbed him of more than 50% of Elvis' income through slavery contracts, and his wicked wife, Priscilla, took away 5% of his earnings in alimony, child support and music until his death. Elvis had to care for over 100 people, including his band, and there were so many people Elvis had to feed, including the Memphis mafia and his family, that Elvis had to work non-stop.😭

    He was the most beautiful man and a great person. Had his mom lived I think he would have lived longer. But when his mom died a piece of Elvis died. There will never be another entertainer like Elvis Presley.

    A shame we didn't have today's technology back then....HD...digital audio. Even though today it's been "cleaned up"...remastered like the Aloha Special or "That's The Way It Is." This concert, along with The MSG concerts in 1972 would have been phenomenal if they were filmed professionally in the first place, never mind filmed in HD.

    Somewhere in those shots panning the crowd I may be. I was there that special night and it almost didn’t happen. I remember almost not getting tickets and my mom said to me that I should go because I may not have the opportunity to see Elvis again. Prophetically she was unfortunately right. This will always be one of the highlights of my life, knowing I shared the same building and air with this most special man. I miss him..

    What a great concert. Elvis completely in his comfort zone. Extremely great! And what a beautiful production. Very well done with all the 8mm footage. Really awesome. Just imagine what this would have looked like with professional cameras. If this had been a TV special. Anyway... very thankful for this great opportunity to experience this concert via UA-cam. Thanks you and TCB

    Even newspaper reviews of this concert related how much fun this particular concert was and how Mr. Presley's performance was quite good. Bad press about incoherent rambiling, weight issues and unpreparedness had already become fodder for local, regional and national press, so it was refreshing to hear good things about this important show.

      it's been releases on a DVD/CD set. The voltage on this video is trom that (voorleg) dvd: finale countdown to midnight. The official Elvis label FTD released this show as "New Year's Even", the only audience recorder live show. Of course the sound isn't very good as professional live recordings. Although the sound on The Finale Countdown to Midnight cd/dvd sounds better
