I so agree about defining and showing the waist, even if very overweight, it’s critical. Those big, tent-like clothes are the very least flattering option, regardless of figure or height. I’m normal weight (125 lbs., 5’4”, US size 8), but have a rounded tummy and thicker waist from menopause/aging, I’m 64. About twenty years ago, when I was 50 lbs. heavier, I discovered that showing one’s shape looks a hundred times better than trying to hide it. I immediately got rid of every single tunic and big, long shirt worn out, and went from hating how I looked to loving it, even though I was fat then. I never bought another such item, even though that was the current style - a big, long top over leggings or skinnies. If an item like a dress, top or blazer is straight-cut or shapeless, I always add a nice belt. I was recently asking about how the waist sizing ran in a shop, because I went in to try on an item I saw online but they didn’t have it, explaining I need generous sizing in the waist and the salesperson said “you should only wear Empire-waist full or peplum tops”! That wasn’t the idea at all, I don’t want to hide my waist, just to be able to fasten the waistbands without sizing up in the hips! The last thing I would ever choose is one of those tops that puff out to hide the waist.

Thanks Alice! I think you are so keen at spotting the technique of looking chic. I have used your “the wrong shoe”, technique which was so helpful. I agree that the more chic dresser is breaking up the high and low items and not overdoing the matching, brands, or fancy things - I appreciate you spelling it out for us. You look beautiful in Greece - enjoy your vacation! ❤ For a future idea - would be great to hear about jewelry and how much is too much, or how to wear other jewelry when you have on a cocktail ring or high jewelry. I sometimes feel like I have to make sure I’m not overdoing the diamonds and similarly trying to combine high and low pieces effectively.

Oh good! I am also wondering about watches. I am preparing to invest in a timeless watch and wondered if the Cartier watch is still a good investment piece? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on all these things. :)

I"m turning 50 soon, but as a single parent to three I in part time work I don't have money to invest in classic pieces, also I have tattoos on my arms from younger days. Do you have advice of cheaper options, and ones to perhaps cover tattoos on my upper arms

Excellent advice I’ve been more mindful of what looks good on my body the styles that suit me I have a couple items that pop my wardrobe but I learned to look at the fabric if it has longevity or will fall apart quick I stick to neutral or basic colors so I can mix and match and I keep basic and classic accessories to accent my looks thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤ looking forward to your next video

Thanks for this informative vidéo. It gave me the idea to buy a scarf with deep red light print to go with my parisian raspberry purse. I wonder why your raspberry Petit Appolon cannot be worn in Paris winter.

I wouldn’t wear high heels for this look, as in the first image, at least not for daytime outfits. A medium or low heel is much more classy and refined, not to mention comfortable and walkable. High, stiletto heels aren’t really in fashion anymore, either.

The last thing women over 50 need is more criticism, especially from other women. The only thing that matters is that she feels great wearing what she wears.

The one thing women also need, no matter what age, is to be able to express an opinion without criticism. I personally don't find the above comment offensive. She expressed an opinion without using any foul or derogatory language. I can appreciate opinions from both ends of the spectrum even if it isn't what i would prefer and sometimes it even surprises me in a constructive way. @@deniseg4028

0:08 This is not for her coloring or essence. Remember to be true to you while being your best! Personality and energy matters. These ladies 0:56 seem more comfortable. @Hindash is the creator of the makeup clip.

Ruching is pronounced in English like rouching would be in French, not like the English rushing. Accessories, the plural of accessory, ends with an -eez (ease) sound, not the English I (eyes). The way you pronounce it, ending with the -ize (eyes), is the English verb form To Accessorize (to add accessories to an outfit). Your English is excellent, I wouldn’t bother to correct you otherwise. I know, English spelling and pronunciation are illogical and impossible! A lot of pronunciations and spellings just have to be practiced and memorized. I thought you would like to know for these words that we use so much in fashion styling, I know the French strive for excellence in many things, and they succeed! If not, I’ll desist! Love your style and channel❤

I disagree we should define style by age. What does age have to do with it?

Hair is personal. It should be flattering to the individual and I look horrible with flat grey hair.

I could not relate to this video, you say over 50 but all the women with the exception of two look like 70s and older. This was definitely not helpful this time and I live in a very hot climate. I have taken away wonderful ideas from previous videos and I thank you for those videos. I am 50 yet I look so much younger that I have to struggle with older looks like many of these with a balance that fits my energy and personality. I do wear blazers with everything but I do not do the baggie pants and man size blazers I am more Veronica Beard here in North America. I am not sure if you are over 50 but why not encourage women to dress like they are alive not just fading away in the sunset.

I am sorry Alice, shorts over 55 is beyond tacky! Don't look like a desperate Florida housewife; Palm Beach is still Florida!! Style is not something you can teach; to have style, you need to know yourself first.
