Because 50 is the age when your body really changes, and transforms from youth to aging. What to do?!? This is hormonalic. After the period stops we change.
@ sadly you did not understand what I wrote. Also the data is very clear that the big changes occur around age 44 and again around 60. Reference: I am a doctor.
50 is not "old" anymore. Have you seen some 50 year olds lately? And no, I don't mean blown up faces with botox and fillers but those who exercised often, ate healthy for forever and look like some 30 year olds. I think it should be "Women over 65" if you're trying to make the viewers see a type of vision for an older demographic. I agree with you @vtcs1963
I live close to the Mexico border. I always go for *suluxy* , their quality is great. Some of them are made with leather and really hard to tell the difference from real or not. Either way, it’s your choice. No judgement from me
There is nothing wrong with looking "older" I think these principles apply no matter what era of life you are in. Looking "older" can mean elegance, or class, or grace, or authority, wisdom etc.
I am 68 and don’t mind looking older, because I am. I embrace my age and have lived through much. I think more than anything, what ages a woman is dressing like a teen. Trying to look young by your clothes is a true giveaway.
I totally agree. I’m 47 and finally I can afford real, big beautiful pearls. I don’t like artificial ones. Friend of mine commented that pearls are for older women. I said it’s weird believe. Mature ladies finally can buy pearls so are more often seen wearing them, young girls can’t 😂 love pearls and diamonds. I’m wearing mine big pearl studs with my white sneakers! Feel young and fancy at the same time, haha.
I totally agree. As the years go by I found out that black do not suit me anymore. So I switched to navy blue. But when it comes to colors I don't have many on my palette...I am afraid to wear colors. Shoes are so important. Also the way we walk and stand up can make us look older. But we are lucky to age and being alive so the obsession of looking younger in my humble opinion should be switched to being healthier and happier. ❤😊

Absolutely love your channel ! I have started implementing your ideas and guidelines. I feel better about myself and very stylish at 60! People think I’m 20 years younger ! Merci 😊
Animal print is a classic! I do agree it should be worn as an accessory. I have an animal print fur hat, ankle boots, and belt. When I wear them, I get plenty of compliments....I don't wear them all together at once☺️
HAIR HAIR HAIR. No matter what, your hairstyle will always make you look older. Even most of the older women who have mastered dressing in a modern way still look older because of their hairstyle. Short hairstyles, even shoulder length, especially overstyled looks, always ages you. Longer hair is always more youthful.
Thank you Alice (from a 69 year old)! I have fallen in love with style & fashion again after many years in the shadows. I am having fun & love wearing my clothes. I am not always "done" but 70% of the time I feel great. I watch my weight and that helps a lot. I am not really interested in following trends (most of them are on repeat) instead prefer to feel my way into what reflects me best, with some twists. Love your channel ❤❤
I think you have hit the nail on the head Adrianne when you say you watch your weight. Staying slim and fit is essential to looking well. I say this as a woman in my sixties!
@SusieBellProctor-u8d yes, & it can be hard to do, but with perseverance it can work. In my case, a few diet changes plus regular gym is working. I am medium build & muscular by nature so have to accept that too
@@SusieBellProctor-u8dThere’s no shame to asking for medical assistance if the hormonal weight is not coming off. Always keep check of your A1C, calcium & bone density
Alice - great advice all around. Small tip: if you are speaking of fashion, it might be your interiors match your advice. I don't think using purses as interior decor in dining shelving screams style. But if you disagree, keep them there of course, to each their own. You have great tips and I've learned a lot from your videos on fashion - French women have much to teach the world of style. I think more and more people are wishing they had a French grandmother to teach some fashion sense into us young.
There is one that I do not agree with and that is color. When I was younger with dark hair and youthful skin, I looked good in brighter colors. Now that i am older (than this photo) with gray hair and pale older skin, I no longer look good in those colors. Also even a few yrs ago, I was able to wear gray. Currently, not the case and the color I always get compliments on is pale pink. So that has been my experience.
Nice video and great advice overall. I don't think animal print coats look great on anyone regardless of age but the blogger you showed looks amazing in it!
I think people should dress for their shape and their bodies, not so much the age. If you are boxy, or your middle has thickened over the years, then stay away from form fitting clothes, it is possible that tunics are the most flattering items you can wear. Conversely, if you still have a svelte shape with a small waist, you can wear more form fitting clothes.
I am guessing Alice you are about 40 now so you represent a happy medium in style. The main thing that lets french women look older ( and I live in Paris) is the over blonded hair, bad teeth and bad nails. Also, the super skinny look where legs in jeans look like sticks, and of course the leathery skin.
Great advice Alice. I may need to purchase your pillow, but also the pillow bra too. I wake up during the night on my side concerned about chest wrinkles. Thank you for the discount code and the advice. XXKLD
Looking young has a lot to do with feeling good and healthy. It's not always possible to be healthy, but it is possible to wear clothing and colors that you like. Life is too short to wear clothes you don't like, no matter what others say.
Your example clips are hilarious. I watch YOU to keep up with classy fashion so I won't look like that. You can be "older" but you don't have to be frumpy!!
I agree with all these recommendations. I would add: be cautious shopping at those “mature women’s” brands. I’m very into classic styles, but they should look modern. The silhouette is really important, it dates each decade. So many of my fellow mature American women only wear that tunic over leggings/skinnies silhouette of 25 years ago, but it’s so aging. It’s not even flattering because it doesn’t show any shape. Those mature brands keep pushing those big, boxy, long tunic tops and frumpy 3/4-sleeves, skip them. Skinnies and leggings, too, have had their day, don’t buy more and consider editing out these items.
Don't dress quirky or like a clown. Don't color your hair pink or purple, it is just clown like. No crazy glasses or big jewelry or "substitute teacher" haircuts. Simple and elegant. A good watch, a good short nails manicure, a good haircut, a cashmere sweater, dark jeans with a simple bag shows a stylish woman. These women always stand out in a crowd.
The women who stand out in a crowd are the women who have the inner strength and confidence to wear what they ENJOY and what expresses their personality, in spite of people who impose endless "don'ts." At what age are we finally old and wise enough to stop letting others dictate how we express ourselves? According to you, never.
Could you consider doing a men over 40 or older one. This one was good. I still believe some trends you mentioned are just not for any age currently. Fur no matter fake or real just makes me cringe. You either look like jamie lee curtis’ working girl character in trading places or cruella deville Neither of which exudes class No matter the price point.
The problem with older females having outdated hair is that some hairdressers are ignorant and intentionally give women old fashioned hair cuts because they tend to want the more trendier cuts for themselves which is quite ignorant really and not why people go to hairdressing school in the first place.
Old women too often get adviced not to stand out, because when they do we will notice their age, thinking "wow, isnt she too old wearing that printed coat"? But this is imo a dated attitude. Or maybe immature way of looking at fashion.
Why do all the young women influencers say “women over 50” then show photos of women who are 75? Yes, 75 is over 50 but there are 25 years in there.

I disagree with classic pearls looking frumpy on older women. I think they’re timeless and sophisticated and will wear them until I die.

@@twilightinavalon Let yourself show not the clothes or quirky gimmicks. Clown style is just a hide behind and kind of sad.
I disagree about the pants, I think the wide pants made the women look boxy and weird. 🤷🏼♀️
GREAT TIPS AS ALWAYS ALICE!!!!!
