Never owned (or even ridden) an HD before, but I'm about to take ownership of my late brothers Fat Bob. I really like how you've modded this bike, very tasteful additions and you've inspired me to do something similar. I was never a fan of the hand guards, but with this setup it doesn't look too bad. Well done, they bike looks great.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. The hand guards have definitely been something that I’ve added to all my bikes after having my knuckles struck by rocks multiple times. Ride safe.
I own a Fat Bob and appreciate your modes and that you took the time to share them on line. I am going to move forward with the fairing and open windshield. I know it will make the bike a lot more fun to ride and increase the amount of time on the bike. Thank You!
I absolutely love what you did with the bike here. I just recently got a Fat Bob and have been looking at pretty much the same exact catalogue for my wish list. Thanks for the review and insight!
I'm 6ft., use underslung mirrors just fine - simply roll the handlebar up away from the tank a few degrees (more inline with your arms) and they work great.
Just a quick FYI, I tried this as you said and learned alot. I love having the additional height on the bar that results by adjusting 15 degrees up... but my wrists do not like the angle they are placed in... I think that I am going to add 2" risers!
@@michaelroice another great channel to watch is Being here now with Percy. He has the same bike. Search his channel for “risers” for some awesome ideas
Looks awesome looks just like mine will when I install all the parts except I went for the taller backrest. I’ll see how I like it probably keep it and may go for a shorter one with the Luggage Rack later down the line.
Thank you for sharing this. Re: the mustache bars: if the bike was dropped on the left under very slow speeds (like low speed turns) do you think the angle of the bars would protect the primary/derby cover from damage or would the primary hit the pavement?
Does the windshield provide enough wind protection for long trips? I am on the fence of getting a used fatbob+fairing or buy a brand new low rider st for $10k more.
@@simplybeingshipley thanks. I was thinking of doing the fat Bob dyna bro, baby bagger style. We’re you comfortable clocking a long rides on the Bob? Can it be made comfy for 2up rides? Maybe like 4-5 hours.
@@JorgeL1 It is very good for two up and 4 to 5 hours is not a problem. Your biggest challenge, if there is any at all, is going to be in handling the Crosswind. You’ll love the bike!
I’m undecided whether to purchase Street Bob or Fat Bob… immediately after getting it I will modify a lot of things therefore perhaps is better to spend less with Street Bob?? 🙄🆘?
It really depends on how you plan to use it. The cost of modifying either one will be the same but the street bob is less expensive starting out. The geometry is very different on the bikes, and the fat tires on the fat bob make a huge difference. If you just riding to work or school and you just want something to enjoy on the open road either one would be fine. If you want one that you can weaken the beast and get crazy handling out of, the fat Bob is unbeatable in the Harley lineup. Having ridden both bikes, hands-down for me would be the fat Bob. Matt Laidlaw called the fat Bob the Corvette of the Harley lineup. I agree
@@simplybeingshipley my idea is make fat also Street Bob (my customizer told me he can fit me a 200 rear without changing the rim) 🤣 I prefer a lower seat because the Fat Bob looks more like the Sportster in a driving setup

The mirrors are tricky. If you are 5 foot 9 or shorter you can invert them like I did but the key is to rotate the actual stems as far forward as possible and then angle the mirrors back that way they will not hit the tank. I will do a separate video on this, I haven’t seen anyone else explain how to do it. But if you’re over 5 foot 9, then the actual handlebars themselves will block your view of the mirror. Thanks for the comments and the follow! Oh yeah, the stock shields On the exhaust will be replaced with blacked out ones soon.

I have the 13 inch, but I know people who love the 15 inch for longer distance. I am very happy with mine, but a key feature is to get the ported windshield... kills all buffeting, and prevents any wind drag.
I just ordered the same windshield setup for my FatBob. I have the lighted tag relocate with the led brake light/turn signal/ running light strip over the tag and led inserts in the stock tail lights and front turn signal lights from Custom dymamics. Huge difference in being seen. It has already saved me once from going over the hood of a Toyota Camry.
Thankyou for making this video as it helped me decide on what to get for my FatBob. Also where did you get the front piece to rest your feet on. Thanks for the info.

The bike looks good! How tall of a windshield did you go with?
