- I finally got around to knocking out a video on the Memphis Shades Road Warrior for my 2019 Fat Bob FXFBS. In this video, I go over the various measurements, a couple of their wind screens, and compare it to the Harley-Davidson 15" detachable wind screen.
I talk through the install process but if you want a video of the install, check out this video from my buddy Kidmoto22 (the install process is about the same): • Memphis Shades Road Wa...

Sir... This is the finest fairing video for a fat bob on UA-cam!! Nicely done...
Thank you so much, Mike! I really appreciate that. I try to do my videos based on the stuff that I want to know. They can be a little long, but as long as I can help a few people out there then it.makes this YT thing worthwhile.
Thanks for linking my install vid very much appreciated.
I appreciate all the measurements for comparison that was a great touch. Paint match is the bomb on these faring’s and yours is truly original no doubt.
Was hoping you'd feel that way. I sent you a note to ask if it was okay but that was just after you guys hit the road and I had to drop the video before I headed out. Hopefully it will get you some traffic. Can't wait to compare notes on our trips!
Being Here Now, with Percy Yes I’d love too at some point. I’ve got some stories for sure.
Lucky guy indeed. Thanks for letting me talk about your fairing, looks killer, there is no other Fat Bob like Sophie, that is for sure!
I appreciate all the detailed measurements very helpful. Great review!
From another FXFBS owner.
Thanks so much, George!
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost the account password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Dean Jerome instablaster =)
@Aaron Dominic thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Aaron Dominic It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out !
As always, fantastic video. I love the explanation of how the wind hits based on the height and curve of the shield! The matching paint and coordinated design make it look like it's factory original.
Thanks!! When are we painting the Airstream?!!!
@@withPercy There are (were) painted Airstreams. It was the Argosy line. They were usually painted white from the factory but people who renovate them paint them whatever color they like. We did just see a FB post where someone put a flag wrap on the front end cap of their AS. It looked really awesome!
Wonderful video on the Road Warrior fairing Percy, enjoyed watching it! Great angles to look at it and wonderful info. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, no problems of course If sometimes a vid takes some time to create or there is a little writers block, you're a busy guy :-) Appreciate the effort you put in to it !
Very detailed. This is the kind of info people need for this kinda stuff.
I'll never need a video like this, but it's still great to see, and I could see myself linking this to someone in the future.
thank you for this viedo, I'm french and just received my Memphis road wariod 11 "I can't wait to ride it, ....
I'm sure that you are going to love that fairing!!
totally answered all my questions on windshield heights! Great review. Helps a new Harley owner :D
That's great to hear! Always nice to get feedback like to that keep me motivated. Thanks!!
Best looking fatbob I’ve seen so far! I have a 2018 fatbob and just ordered the bar risers and the fairing! Mine is vivid black so I think the all black fairing is gunna look killer!
That's going to look killer! If you went with the Memphis Shades, I'll say that it will probably even look better with a black paint job. I ran mine unpainted for awhile and it was showing a bunch of marks and just looked a little stale. Even the blacked painted sections look amazing with the paint and clear coat now.
Being Here Now, with Percy
so it comes unpainted? I couldn’t tell
From the pics online? I was just gunna spray paint it flat black then put a nice
Clear coat on it, I’ve become very good with spray paint jobs so I’m confident I can get it to look good. BTW where are you located? I’m in York, PA would love to meet up for a ride or something
I think they advertise it as being "ready for painting". Several people told me there was no need to paint it but I do believe it makes a big difference. You should be good with a good spray and clear coat job. I'm over in the Springfield, VA area. But we ride all over the place in VA/MD/WV. Went to York not too long ago and I'm jonesing to head back that way again when the weather turns. Hit me up on Facebook or Instagram and I'll shoot you a note when we're planning to head your way. Would be great to meet up. I am @bhnwp on both of those platforms.
Dude this was an awesome and very helpful video. Thank you!
the next year i will get one and your video its inspire me a lot . GRACIAS
Thanks for the in depth info on these windshields! I'm still on the fence on getting one myself but this helps me to see what options there might be out there.
Thanks for watching and I hope this helps you. Let me know what you decide to go with.
great review... i have horrible buffeting with the 15" HD screen and have been wanting to try this or try a batwing and modify it to fit the 18 bob...
tks.
your bike is the most i like of all i have seen on you tube.... everything you put on it fit awesome
me encanta la moto
Ole tu ....bravo
The bike looks amazing Percy. I've got the same bike, I also installed the Givi box on the luggage rack. Love your work.
Thanks, Nigel! I really appreciate that. What color is your Fat Bob?
@@withPercy Mine is denim white and black. I have black S &S 2 into 1 exhaust, looks great. 😊
The color match completely changes the look man. Looks very "1 off" and sweet!
Hello. First off your bike look awesome and I love your videos. I just put a Memphis Shades road warrior on my fatbob and am looking at getting it painted as well. My question is which rear brake lever are you using? I like the one on yours and would like to get the same. Could you please provide me with the manufacturer and part number? Thank you
Thanks! I did a video on that lever that’s on the channel. It’s an HD part but people have been telling me that it’s extremely hard to find. I’m not at my computer but if you search for brake lever on my channel video listing you should see the video with the information pop up.
Wonder if you could cut two slits towards the bottom of the shield to let some air pass though like they do on the newer low rider fairing’s.
dude, that right side bag looks awesome! where can i buy it from. thank you!
Sharp looking bike! Awesome review too! Thanks for sharing 😁
Thanks so much!
OUTSTANDING review man...
I have the same colour Fat Bob, and I agree that the Road Warrior looked out of place being all black. Rather than paint mine, I tried several different designs with an orange vinyl wrap, but the one I think looks the best, is basically identical to yours. So, sorry for copying your design, but it's hard to beat. I'll send you a pic some time.
Nice! I would love to see how that wrap came out.
Great video, thank you. I have one comparision question... Today, I have installed the original HD 15" detachable windshield on my 2022 Fat Bob.... I made a quick 150km run on the highway and I HATED it! There occured a terrible vibration on the handlebars and a strong buffeting on the top of my helmet.. It was a very uncomfortable ride, even when compared to "no windshield" at all.....
I think installing only a windshield to a naked bike, without any fairing etc. disrupts the riding aerodynamics in a very bad way..
So... my question is.... Do you have the same "vibration" feeling with this fairing, if you compare it to its original "no fairing" status? Your comment will be highly appreciated.... Thank you.
My experience was as you described, but maybe not as severe. The aerodynamics of Road Warrior fairing 100% makes a huge difference.
@@withPercy Thank you Percy, ride safe..
Great looking bike. I need this fairing for my FXFBS!
Thanks! I hope the info in the video is helpful. I'm really happy with my choice. The Road Warrior is a solid choice for the FXFBS. We're heading out on a trip tomorrow and I'll be doing an end-of-season review next month of how the various mods I've made performed this year.
@@withPercy I am definitely taking a few tips from your upgrades as I just picked up my bike about a month ago. I will be getting the risers this winter and that Memphis Shades fairing/screen. The bike already came with a cam upgrade as the previous owner installed a Red Shift torque cam. I am eventually looking into upgrading to a stage 3 either through Zippers or see what the local HD dealership can do. And I will be throwing some bags on using the same system that ConnorFXDB used. Check that out, it works with the HD HoldFast system.
Bike looks killer😎
Thanks! I really loved they way the Fat Bob turned out.
I’m definitely not saying anything bad about you videos but I really like the picture style for this specific video. Great job explaining in detail about your fairing and shield stages. I’ve gotta say it again, beautiful bike Percy 🤙🏼
Thanks for that feedback. It is definitely much easier doing it this way rather than trying to record everything while you're doing it. Wasn't sure if this was going to be well received but I'll probably do more like this in the future. Thanks!
I have the same fairing and screen. I haven’t settled on whether I want to do some paint to tie in more with the river rock color that I have. I’m going for a more mad max look so I don’t want it to be too pretty.
I would love to know what kind of box that is on your luggage rack.
Hi! That’s a Givi Dolomiti 30. If you search for Givi on my channel you’ll find a video I did about it and how to modify the mount to fit it on the bike. Thanks for watching!!
what is the name of the saddlebag?
Beautiful machine 👍💯
Thanks!!!
Looks sweet on your bike, especially with the matched paint. Also like that SOG (Vulcan, I believe).
Thanks! And I see you know your SOGs. LOL It is, indeed, a Vulcan.
Damn, wish mine was that color. Ended up with black when orange is my favorite color.
I was fortunate that my dealer was able to track that color scheme down for me and have it trucked in. It was the limited paint scheme in 2019.
Being Here Now, with Percy - my dealer had an orange and a black on the floor. I was about to test drive it after sitting on it and finding it comfortable. Then my sales person said it was just sold. The black one was also pending sale but the guy buying it didn’t like/didn’t get financing so it was mine and a person was behind me in line if didn’t want it.
Thanks so much for this. You helped me figure out what to get for mine. One more thing, what bags are those you have? Thanks!
Thanks, Joseph! It means a lot to know that the content I'm putting out there helps folks. Those bags are from Rarebag. I had them made to my specs. He makes fantastic stuff. His website is at rarebag.de. You can use Google Chrome and have it translate the site if you don't speak German. Rouven speaks english so you can send him an e-mail if you're interested in anything. I highly recommend his craftsmanship.
hello there can you put the model of the installation kit please thank you
What brand of seat do you use?
Great vid good to see 11" on the bike, reckon I'll go with same👍
At 5'9" tall, I've found the 11" to be perfectly dialed in for me. Let me know how that works for you.
how is the wind protection or do you get any buffeting compared to the HD windshield?
thinking of trying this on my fat bob so any advise on how the wind is would be great.
tks.
I think it's better than the HD shield. I have no buffeting with the Road Warrior. And the bars would get pushed around a bit with the HD shield on major windy days. I don't get anything like that with the Road Warrior.
surprising how you didnt get any buffeting with the 11", cause all the single headlight dyna guys have all sorts of issues
Lovley bike there mate i am looking for some kind of fairing for a 2019 Breakout nothing suitable on the market that fits and works all the best for 2021.
I installed this fairing with 11 inch shield on my Fatbob. Unfortunately it creates a lot of wind buffeting around my helmet. Any fix for this??
I haven't had any problem with that. I'm 5'9" tall and the 11" screen works with no problem for me. Are you taller?
@@withPercy Yes I’m 6’. I have ordered a 15 inch shield. 👍🏻
An amazing looking bike brother, I love those little leather bag u have on the right side of the bike, what brand and model is that??? Perfect for the documents and such, winder if they have the same for the left side on the swing arm? 🤷🏻♂️
Well done dude.
I have a question. How tall are you? I’m 5’11” and have the sundowner seat and the oem seat too. I bought the Road warrior faring and I’m having problems in deciding from the 11” or the 13”. I don’t want the buffeting while riding.
Hi David. I am 5’9”. At this point, I am running the 11” shield for normal riding and the 17” for touring without any problems. I use the Speed Merchant by Saddlemen seat for non-touring, and the Mustang Wide Tripper for touring. Both of those seats drop you further down into the bike and further back. Hope that helps.
@@withPercy thank you for the fast response. Thanks, It helps a lot, it gives me an idea on what to buy. Last time I went t shopping for windshields for my Ultra I ended up buying 4 aftermarket windshields until I found a Madstad that was perfect for touring.
Morning Percy hope your well and have better weather than we have at the moment in the wet uk .
I’ve found this video the most helpful of many I’ve watched but I do have one question’ how tall are you ? .
I’ve been thinking for sometime about getting a road Warrior . I’m 5’9 / 5’10 ish and I’m probably going to go with the 11” screen I have stock handle bars and risers just so I can help work out which screen to order with my faring . Sorry if you gave out this information and I missed it . Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey there, Simon! So it sounds like we are the same. I am 5'9". I think you'll be happy with the RW. It's done a really good job for me and I have done several day and longer trips with it. And I will say that it has been stellar during the temps Ive been riding in lately. Say 34F+. And that's with the 11" screen.
N how tall are you?
Hi Percy how tall are you? I'm 5'6 could i see over the 15 inches? Or would i get buffeting on my head?
Hey Warren - I am 5'9" and the shield on my Memphis Shades is 11". I believe that I could see over the 15" shield myself, but that might be as high as I could go for me. What you could do is go the dealer and have them show you where the HD 19" detachable windscreen would be for you on a Fat Bob. I think that would pretty closely approximate where the 15" shield would be on the Memphis Shades.
@@withPercy thanks Percy
These did not get in the way if your crash bars right
I love the bag on the sissy bar!
Great ideas
What’s your height?
5’9”
I am 5 feet 7 what size should I go for, thanks
I watched it, :)
You sound like Tom Hanks
My only criticism of your otherwise fine video is you should have removed your helmet from the bike.
