I have been scouring the internet and youtube for a week to find a way to disable those pesky side locks on my 56" and I came across this, you sir are a genius!!! Thank you, my search is over now 😁
Glad you found my channel. I have an equally brilliant way of disabling the drawer lock when the top is closed. And it doesn't ruin the ability to lock your tool cart. Check out more.
Cheap and simple, but very effective! Thanks for the tip!
I really love your low tech approach to a problem.
I definitely appreciate your support. You may like my "PlastiDip" video too.

I didn’t have wooden dowels so I used golf tee’s. I cut off both ends and then cut to fit. Love your videos and your energy!
Great alternative. Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching.
Great tip! Thanks!
Great idea. Appreciate your time and the video!!
Thanks for leaving the positive feedback. 🙏
So one of Santa’s little elves told me that I was getting the US General 5 drawer tool cart, that I have been wanting, for Christmas. This led me to some of your videos. Just wanted to say thank you for putting in the effort to share your ideas (mods) for the cart. I too, don’t like doing anything permanent to my “toys” (most of the time). You’ve given me some good ideas. Thanks, and keep ‘em coming.
Thanks for the support. Merry Christmas 🎅🏼

Great tip👍🔧🍺 I'm gettin 44inch HF & I like to walk up to my box spend as lil time messing with drawers.
I added magnets (from the HF tool strip) to the back of the drawers to keep them from opening when I move the cart a bit.
Great idea! You earned a sub!
Honestly this video doesn't get the attention that it deserves. I love this mod. Especially ones like it that don't require permanent changes.
Thanks so much for the sub and thank you for your support.
All right another mod video!
This one was a favorite of mine.
Thanks bud
Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Dude, I love this!!! I'm going to do this for sure!!! I love watching your videos Dale!!!
Ya this is my favorite mod/hack. And it doesn't seem to be popular.
I dont know why you'd want to get rid of these side locks. I got rid of the lid lock and left the side locks so i can still move the cart without the drawers opening. You can put small bolts in place of the rivets on the lid lock rails to make it a reversible mod, if you so choose of course.
That's why my fix is temporary. Just pull the dow and the latch works normally. What was annoying is constantly bugging the drawer only to recall that there's a latch then reaching for the latch on the wrong side.
If course none of this is an issue now that the new series 3 was released yesterday.
Thanks! Do you also know if there is a way to not have to open the top in order to open the drawers?
This is my most popular video. It will show you how without ruining the ability to lock your cart. Good luck and thanks for watching
Hello, do you know where I can buy this slide latch? I can't find...
I don't know if I can be much help. They are clearancing the series 2 stuff but even before that they only sold the whole drawer. I assume because the latches and slides are riveted to the drawer. The new series 3 latches work completely different. You could call customer support but I doubt that'd be of any help. My best suggestion is check fiber.com to see if someone there will 3D model and print a few using one of your ones that is still functional. You can get the spring at any ACE Hardware store. Good luck and let us know if you were able to replace it.
Valve stem cap works
Great idea 💡
If I do this and not take them out, will locking the tool box with the key lock the drawers shut. Thinking bout buying one but that latch design doesn’t sound the greatest.
Simple answer is yes. With the top closed and locked and the cut-off in place your cart will be secured.
I think that the Parking Lot Sale from last weekend may repeat this weekend. They're $200 which is the cheapest price I have seen in a while.
I think making the latches friction held instead of spring loaded would be a good "solution", too. This way, you don't have to keep track of and fiddle with tiny pieces of wood every shift change.
Only prob is I don't have a tool chest yet to figure how to work this out.
In another video I added magnets that I got by taking apart a magnetic tool bar to the back of the drawers. They pulled just enough on the back panel to keep the drawer from flying open during movement.
The small dowel was a good idea, but it'll get lost too easily. Heres a far better idea.
Make an extended "L" shape block that will replace the dowel and be easier to see and remove.
Thank you for sharing this idea. I would love to see a video. I have lost one.
