Whats your favorite mod for this cart? Any that i missed?
You can custom attach the us general side cabinet to it with 4 quick cuts.
You can always lock it and walk it around. No need to be left open.
Impact…not ratchet
Having the locking drawers is meaningful to a rolling tool cart. When you roll it around you don’t want the drawers opening.
All the drawers lock if you close the top lid. I forgot to mention that in the video. Magnets would be a great idea too.
i use magnets on every cart every brand i own
I like the little plastic drawer locks. I've just conditioned myself to use them.
Put magnets on the back of each drawer to keep it from opening when moving around.
Couple tips I've learned from others
Mod 1: Use a floor jack to lift the cart without needing to take anything out and set on a stand while changing casters
Mod 2: add magnets to the back of the drawers - I've seen people take the sections of magnets out of the HF tool holder and attach 2 small magnets to the back of each drawer (any magnets should work). Now you dont need to unlatch the drawers and the magnet holds the drawer against the back firmly and still opens with ease once you pull it
Use plati-dip spray coating or auto undercoating on the chrome drawer covers. Then they won't crack, chip, or scratch with usage.
You can glue two small round magnets to the legs where the shelf support hits when it's let down and glue two more under the shelf to keep it from banging against the support.
Your mods were very helpful. I've been searching online for the best tool cart and this one was the best rated. HF is offering a great Black Friday deal on this one and the coupons will make the price even less. I'm going to purchase it today with the additional purchase of the side tray. Thanks for your video!!!!
The 5 drawer tool cart does not disappoint. Very high quality tool cart for cheap.
I did the wheel upgrade but instead of emptying my tool box o just. Used a 2x4 on my jack. Did one side at a time
I've done put magnetic strips on the inside of my lid to hold small tools like picks and impact bits, rubber bump stops on all four corners to prevent damaging the frame or scratching the box. I also put rubber grommets inside the holes on the top part of the box to hold all my socket extensions, the only one I didn't put a grommet on is where I put my breaker bar in since the handle and the shaft is too big for a grommet, only way to put a bigger one on is to get a step bit and extend out the hole.
Awesome. Sounds like you have a really nice setup.
Great video... I really liked the look after you painted the drawer handles black... nice touch for sure!!
The white cart with the black trim would be fire
Maybe its time to get another one 😂
That’s what I’m rocking #stormtroopercart
Just ran down to HF picked up a 5 drawer with 189. Coupon and coupon #64590322 good till 1/15 for free side tray with cabinet purchase. I was polite, and they did an over ride and got both for 189 out the door. White in stock. Heads up there raising the price on 5 drawer $10 after the 1st...
I’ve been watching reviews on these boxes and thinking about going and getting one! Thanks for sharing

@@movaughn20 thanks man I'm headed that way
I learned about the casters after I had built it and filled it so I put a cloth on my jack and jacked it up alittle on 1 side n put the swivel casters on. Worked great! Just a quick tip if someone did what I did.
Black handles looked great
Be even nicer if you painted the bolts prior to putting the legs on.
Nice work subbed
Nice job. You just earned yourself a new sub with this video. Liked your others as well. Keep it up.
Thanks for the kind words. Welcome to TopTier Garage 😁
you can pick up a HF magnetic bar tool holder. remove the plastic film covering and pop the magnets out of it. they are super strong and you can place a double stack behind each drawer. they help to close and keep drawers closed while moving your cart.
Paint on the trim love it. will do to my box.
you mount a older side cabinet to the open side .you can make shelves from old bed frames and bolt them to the sides
Nice video. Your thumbnail for this video seemed generic, and I watched several similar video before this one.
The wooden dowel mod was smart, and you are right- a mention about the top closing and still locking could be worth mentioning.
The Stuggleville guy has a video about the magnet resistance, to help with the dowel mod. Keep it up!
I will have to check out Struggleville's video on it. Dumping a tool cart over can ruin anyone's day 😂
How deep are each of the drawers? It doesn't say on the website.
I just want to disconnect the lid lock, so I dont have to open top tobopen a drawer. Drives me friggin nuts...
Upgrade your the Dowel/nut solution on the drawer latches with a wee dab of hot melt glue, or even Fun Tak, aka poster adhesive. That will keep it in there, yet it can still be easily removed.
Instead of wooden dowels, you can use a 1/2 inch or 7/16 nut that’s probably in your box of extra nuts n bolts.
I saw one video that the guy put magnets behind the drawer to keep them from coming open without the locking mechanism.
So... 2 years later... What's the sidetray mod??
its 13mm
How long before you dumped the cart and bent the crap out of your drawers
Still haven't done that yet. 😂
A little hot glue on the wooden dowel
Sticker and badge delet
I somehow got this thing into my car (out of box), home, out of my car and assembled without any damage - I used my dolly laid down and bags of soil to build up to level and slid it right out of my car, and kept it on the dolly until it was ready to lift into the base (before installing drawers so its lighter)
Ha the casters you showed in the ad for $17.99 are not the ones you were putting on the ones you were putting on are $7.99 and are rated for less weight they are rated for 330 pounds and the $17.99 are rated for 375 pounds.
That is half of 2 square foot actually
I like the idea for swivel casters because as you said it enables you to put the box wherever you want it: You get a point for this one. You lose ten points for not checking the bolt pattern on the bottom of the unit before you bought the WRONG swivel set of casters, so you had to drive back till the store to exchange them (hopefully) for the right set, drive back home and try (again) to make the installation. Before putting something out on UA-cam, you maybe should know what and HOW you’re gonna do it .
Maybe he was just making light of the situation.
Where's your amazing content?

6- remove us general badge. Debadge. 7 add snap on badge.
Change the bolts out for black Allen heads.
The best mod is to throw it away.
