The more videos I see, Joe, the more impressed I am by your combination of skills -- as an outdoorsman and also
as a videographer. It must take a fair amount of time to set up some of your shots and after your trip to process and edit them so well. You do a great job of turning it all into a compelling story -- both by your narrative at the time and also by your editing after your return home. Thanks!

That was some cool wolf howling right there.
Easy breakfast (that lasts more than a day or two) other than oatmeal is a tough one. Other instant hot cereals are possible ... cream of wheat? You can also try and make the oatmeal a little better / varied with some nuts and dehydrated fruit thrown in ... I guess the ideal is fresh berries if you can find them. You could also carry some fruit: Apples, citrus, and bananas are all pretty durable if you treat them well, and will last a few days at least.
For the first or second day you could go with some baked goods, so you put off the switch to oatmeal for a bit. If you don't hate various forms of reconstituted milk, you can do a bowl of your cereal of choice.
    9/10 for your Jackie Chiles.

Grapenut cereal, hot water, cinnamon and sugar (your choice white or brown), sometimes I'll add some nutmeg or other 'seasonal spices".... I like to carry salted Butter (the real stuff.... It lasts for weeks).... a big dollop of butter on top. you can also add any dehydrated fruits or nuts that you may favor. it amounts to the same as oatmeal/porridge, just a little different flavor profile and very filling. enjoy. :)

Hey Joe it's Jake I'm an Eagle Scout out of Massachusetts and you were talking about in this video about what is suitable for you to eat on and on the move trip like this and I do numerous trips that require easy meals that are minimal cleanup and fill this a normal human up some of the things that I've come up with are crunchy peanut butter sandwiches I know this might not sound like the best thing to eat or taste because it's bland but crunchy peanut butter gives you all of the necessary protein a human needs also gives you a lot of energy to start up and with the bread part as you most likely know cause you've done this hundreds of times the first thing that you burn in any type of exercises carbohydrates so that's where the bread comes in but if you are looking for something nice and warm in the morning that wakes you up you are right on point with the oatmeal

Joe, big fan of yours, watch all your videos and you've inspired me to get outdoors more. Just a VERY friendly fishing tip from one fisherman to another, when you hold a fish up for the camera let the fish remain vertical unless you support its weight. If you hold them horizontally by the mouth it can screw up their jaws especially bigger fish. Have a good day and stay safe out there!

Dear Joe. Me and a couple of friends of mine are doing a school project where we want to go out in nature just like you are doing, but mabye for 3 days. Do you have any tips for something valid we can examine that can be interesting and kind of complex? We thought of using biomimicry to make our survival as efficient as possible, as well as building a survival shelter that can hold heat from a fire efficiently, as well as investigating in what kind of heavy metals are found in fish depending on the food chain. We know for sure we will go out in the woods. We have a couple of your videos linked in our group document for things we will do out in the woods. You are a big inspiration!

That would ruin the music of nature (not sure if you've ever been backpacking).
I personally hate it when people bring loud and annoying things to the wild where they absolutely do not belong. Like playing music

A lot of parks do not allow flying RCs or RC of any kind...

TheAngieIshmael that's fair. I did suggest the Mavic (pro) because the newest model is supposed to be pretty quiet. But maybe we can wait when they are totally silent. I must admit I make my living as a videographer so even though I hike and enjoy nature I still think as a videographer first. I will probably never launch a drone while hiking from now on. You make a very good point.

Drone rules in Canada are getting stupid, not sure it's even worth it now...

I think I've watched all of this trip (from both of you.) That last sunrise was awesome. (I think I just put Algonquin Park on my bucket list.) Thank you both so much for going through the trouble to haul that extra gear so you could take us with you!
