I really respect all the camera work you do. You're on most of these trips alone, but you still take the time to prepare for multiple shots even in the worse conditions. I'd still be a fan if you weren't so thoughtful with your camera work, just wanted to acknowledge you and say your hard work, effort, and attention to detail is not overlooked. Thanks so much for these videos!!

Martin here. A pleasure meeting you, Joe. Your humble manner in person and on video is refreshing. That was a close call on the first swollen swift between Burntroot and Longer! I spent 8 more days getting back up to the Magnetewan Access via McIntosh Marsh and Lake, Timberwolf, and Misty. I'd done a bicycle shuttle between Tim R. and Mag. access points for ease of finishing. I'll remember this trip for its weather. Good luck with your films, Joe!
From a TEN year veteran in the Marines you stayed in their and kept your spirits up. Just look at this way, it was a small test of victory. I like this video. Human endurance will sometimes amaze you depending on how hard you push yourself. It just makes more of a man out of you. Being in the Marines for ten years and getting into the down dirty long haul on our 22 mile humps with a 80 pound or more on your back, makes a man really reach down within and grin and bear the pain of the body just saying I'm not giving up hear not until I drop flat on my face with no life in me. Its called the human spirit, the instinct to survive. That's good video. You gave the subscribers a bit of experience of a mental lesson of the human ability to push it self to the limit when it comes to surviving in the wild. 10 Thumbs up on this one. #JOE----THE MOVIE COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU! You are our fav bushcrafter!! Hubby and I loved it! We watch all your stuff together. Better than TV any day! You are the real deal!
i thought this WAS the movie. called 5 days about a guy that did this and then the aliens invaded and he had to keep doing it since the cities were wiped out etc. i was seeing if this was it to send to a friend but twasnt :(
I am constantly amazed at the amount of drive and motivation you have to go on these trips, go through the trouble of filming everything so well, then editing the videos! A very admirable quality!
haha I was literally just scrolling through all the comments to find out what the bird was! lol. Thanks for the intel! Used to love the sounds of the forrest when I used to go camping back in the day. #citylifenow :(
I think I’ve just about watched every video you’ve put out … I felt this one like no other. Probably my favorite just because of the challenge… I had a backpacking trip that I came out of freezing wet and hungry and this video brought me back to it. Great video … looked rough but you defeated it! Thanks Joe
Joe, this is absolutely amazing. I watched the video in two parts (0:00 to 1:50:00) and then from that to the end. The second part (for me) of this video was just crazy. You really captured it in a great way and was able to still live it to the max. I raise you my hat! EDIT: What I really love about this video is that your trip didn't turn out to be perfect. We really feel like we're living it with you without any scripted clips! Your best video so far Joe!
Joe, I love it. You are the man. Bringing me memories. Back in the mid 70's, me and 4 pals (Chuck, Barry, Harry, and Steve) all in our mid to late 20's. Hiking thru the woods, muddy fields, and all. Me the biggest (183cm, 90kg or 6'0", 200 lbs) was the pack mule for the bunch. Hunting and fishing was the end goal but the whole experience was boss. Thinking back, these are my fondest memories. We were together 3 yrs then scattered with the winds.
I've paddled across lakes and up and down rivers. Spent days in the woods. But I couldn't have done what you did in this video in my best days. Respect!
Hey Joe, I started watching your videos a few months ago and I'm hooked. You're doing it right, the camera work, the communication, and the knowledge you share. I come home from work and after the family's settled in I relax with a video. Thanks man. Keep up the good work
Trout Fishing 101 from my Alaskan Hermit Friend: Walk Silently to the Stream (no heavy footfalls) to a spot just just below a rapids. Don't ever skyline yourself. Pick a spot where they won't easily see you to cast from. If they see or hear you they will hide until after you are gone. Cast into the bottom edge of the rapids. Then they won't see the lure hit the water and get spooked. DO NOT TALK. At least until you catch all the fish you want. Trout are very easy to spook, and will hide at the slightest provocation. Anything out of the ordinary, they run and hide. If you drift your lure out of the rapids they will think "Food!". That is why they sit at the bottom of the rapids waiting for something to drift down to snap up. Good Luck.
I've watched this video twice now once when it came out and now almost a year later. Seriously you are one of my favourite people to watch on UA-cam and make me feel all the emotions right along with you.
I love watching these longer videos. I can see some do not have the time to watch it all in one go, but UA-cam remembers where you stopped watching, so one does not have to watch the whole thing in one go. With that said, if splitting them into say 3 ore more seperate videos means more money for you, then do that. The sooner you get away from the baseball bat nutter the better. Love the videos, Joe. Thank you so much #nopeasantlife.
lol ... that is funny. isn't your bitch justin , completely screwing you and your country ????? america will never allow canada to become islamist. choose your enemy and choose them correctly. history will teach you that america is your friend. not the nazi loving countries from ww2. i mean all musllim countries.....
Backpacking Cape Breton we don't have sjw warriors fighting to censor free speech and put in place Shariah Law. The fact Canada has surpassed the U.K. As a world power is absolutely terrible. Stop throwing insults.
Joe dont change a thing, i have been binging since i found you, i feel like i am camping all day while i watch, except the traffic outside, i forgot to like all that i watched, but I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS, and i have watched at least 15 so far, i havent watched anything but your channel at all in fact! :)
Joe a quick tip here to keep water spots off the GoPro......I recently returned from Hawaii and the surfers there gave me this trick. They apply surfboard wax to the lens of their GoPros while surfing... then remove it, apply it again then remove it. The residue keeps water sliding right off with no water spots. Hope this helps.
You're not the smartest person in your family, are you? No one was comparing fishing to surfing at all; instead he was referring to keeping water off of a go pro. Go watch some Miley Cyrus videos, as they seem to be more your speed
Hi Joe. I know it sucks you got hit and all but sometimes a black eye is worth setting up change and making your life so much better in the end. I know your frustration and very glad to see that your family has moved and you are winning my friend. You have a gorgeous new home! Continued prayers for Scout. Keep up the good work.
It was good to watch one of your older videos, Joe. This was a good one. I can't believe I missed this 7 years ago. Take care and all the best to you and family.
Just found you on Utube a few days ago, have been watching them since. You probably won’t read this but have to tell you that this one had me off my chair in the fast water. I was so worried for you. So glad it all turned out well. What a strong willed young man you are. You do what has to be done and think it out first. I have been in several circumstances where it was get it done or die....you just dig in and do it. You looked so exhausted at the car. I hope you didn’t have to have an operation on your elbow. Keep up the great videos. My husband and I love them at 79 and 71 years of age. You are too funny! Your neighbor is something else. Can’t understand why she wasn’t arrested. Horrible!
Hey brother Joe just came across your channel again, was looking through long adventures so here i am , much love an maximum respect everyone from UK 🇬🇧 👍 ❤🙏
I am confused. I have been watching all his videos since I found him 2-3 days ago. Love his content. Whats with the dislikes? I am confused as to what there is to Dislike? XD Twats! Keep making these awesome vids!
I've wondered about that myself. How can there be that many people who dislike this guy's vids? My guess is that they aren't watching very long and just assume Joe is another know-it-all-survivalist-youtube-douche...which he isn't at all. I mean he obviously has mad skills, but he never comes across in an arrogant "I'm a bushcraft god!" way. Quite the opposite actually...in fact I like that he includes parts where he flubs up. Many less humble YT'ers would edit that stuff out in a heartbeat. He's just a real dude out there enjoying himself in the wilderness. He inspires me to log off and go outside :-)
I am not encouraging harassment or discouraging peaceful resolutions but if You can usually tell how someone wants to resolve the problem few seconds in. If someone after being told that You don't want a fight tells You they're gonna smash Yours and Your wife's face it then You gotta do what You gotta do and lay them out like come on, "get real".
There is nothing negative to see here. I discovered Joe a few weeks ago and have watched several. He is captivating and sincere. And if anyone of the negative thumbs down voters can do better - lets see it !!!!!!
Hey Joe, I've been watching your videos every night over the last 3-4 weeks (during the Coronavirus lockdown). Great way to take your mind off things and learn about bushcraft, canoeing, and in this video...facing adversity. Very rewarding. I'll bet you look back at this trip as something to be proud of. Great videos...all of them. Thanks pal.
Keep up the long format. It has movie length and is much better than the crap shown on tv. When you were paddling thru all that rain, I got some chills myself just from watching yet it is about 23°C here. Thank you for the impression and greetings from Germany.
Hi Joe, I recently discovered your channel and really enjoyed this long video, totally absorbed by your trials and tribulations in the Canadian wilderness. You are very natural behind the camera and I really enjoy your candid comments on your experiences and tips for people like me. I have a very young family and keen to get out there on my own or with them in the future. Thank you
Amazing video, better than some movies. In my opinion, long videos are more practical than short parts so keep it up. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. From Belgium.
I stumbled upon this channel about 4 days ago and I can’t stop watching, I think everyone should do something like he does and see how humbling it is to live off the land and create your own shelters just to stay alive. Nature is a beautiful thing!
Being stuck in lockdown I suddenly had the idea to check out some of Joes older videos. Glad I did 😂 feel less isolated and can imagine I’m out there too! ❤️ from the UK 🇬🇧
Great video Joe, I just finished a planed 10 day trip from Tim to Cedar lake, we shortened the trim to 7 days I've done this rout 10 years now and this was the least predictive fishing we ever had the water is so high and fast. We started in rain for 2 day then snow for 3 days finished with some sun. We ran out of food because we always count on the trout :( so we pushed to get out early. We cut a channel around that log jam. and i saw half a paddle stuck in the ground on the 356 spring camp portage looks just like yours glade to see it wasn't
Joe Robinet, huge fan of what you do. Not only is your channel informative, but it’s also a change from the normal Vine recaps and tik tok bull. Thank you so much for making these videos. I’ve used a couple of your tricks in recent trips I’ve done myself. You have no idea what your videos do for me. As a vet, the survival skills and the casual talking help to get my head clear. I enjoy the way you talk to the audience and make us all feel like we’re right there with you. I know this an older video, and it’s great to know your growing family is in a better place.
I experienced them on a paddle trip in the Wisconsin northwoods last year. It was a lot of fun singing back and forth with them. One repeatedly flew from one side of camp, to the other, then back, then back again, over and over for probably about an hour. They make fun friends to have in the woods!
I'm imagining someone on the shore just watching you cruise past talking to yourself and not realising there's a camera... I would love to see that perspective haha
That guy was an A hole that hit you, probably bashes his wife and kids, you don"t need it around you, you doing the right thing moving on, you have to protect your family. Cheers.
When people differ with acting violent like your case, drugs or untreated psychosis must be the reason for responding to a confrontation like yours. I'm sad to hear you got hit, but glad you wasn't hit worse even though it's bad enough. Good call moving though. But I certainly hope 'person' somehow will be handled by the authorities. Anyways, I hope all the best for you and your family! I loove long videos, it's excellent! And as I've said before, I loove your vids anyhow Joe!! Super well done!Soon I'll be canoeing as well here in Norway and/or Sweden. Ha det bra!
I'm 71 yr. old retired teacher...a grandmother too. I could just imagine the details you do in preparation to your trip plus he valuable videos. Thanks a lot. You make me look forward to your trip videos !
I am rewatching this video. I remember your person's story. But listening to it again, oh my. Some people are so mean. I ran into a horrible person last fall on a highway trip and managed to meet up and have this person do road rage on me. How horrible some people can be. I know you did move and I am so happy, as I feel so close to you and your family.
I enjoyed the video and the length. I don't know if I was more sick of the rain or hearing the word portage during the video....tough call haha. Keep the vids coming.
I think this is your best video yet. There's actually some TENSION in the story... but I think you quit a bit too fast when your primary plan doesn't work out. If you had the time, you should have just chilled at the last campsite for an extra day to "heal and enjoy yourself", and not just push, push, push and end up just wanting to get out of there.
Maybe if the weather wasn't so crappy. I don't think I would have wanted to just spend an extra day sitting in the rain either. Also, he seemed to be on a pretty strict timeline.
Your not as bad as most of the UA-camRS. You talk realistically about what your doing and don’t wander off subject too much. You speak well and to the point.
Have you considered wearing waders on trips like this? I wear them when I go fishing/camping with my sit-on-top kayak and it makes getting in and out much easier, it keeps me a lot drier during heavy rain compared to rain pants and it would definitely help you on some of those portages. The only downside I see is that they can get pretty warm when you walk a lot.
Edvin Rapp I know personally i don't like wearing waders when on boat just simply for the fact that as soon as the go under they become an anchor. Probably would never happen but I don't plan on finding out
Long Video.
In the future, would you prefer the trip to be cut into shorter parts, or do you like this rediculously long format?
Thanks folks.
Joe Robinet i like the longer vids.. although we have to wait longer lol
Joe Robinet Longer the better ;-)
Can you do shorter pieces but close release dates?
Love the videos keep them up please(more with scout please)and the hot tent too

When I cant turn off the thoughts in the middle of the night...I sleep on the couch and put on your videos and Im on an adventure...It works every time. Thank you for doing what yo do...
I like the way you edit your videos. Makes them fun to watch. The longer videos helps the viewer to feel the experiences you are having and be part of your adventure.
thanks!
This is the real deal. Nice work keeping the cameras going through the tough times!
thank you!
#JOE----THE MOVIE
COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU!
You are our fav bushcrafter!! Hubby and I loved it! We watch all your stuff together. Better than TV any day! You are the real deal!
i thought this WAS the movie. called 5 days about a guy that did this and then the aliens invaded and he had to keep doing it since the cities were wiped out etc. i was seeing if this was it to send to a friend but twasnt :(
I've probably watched this video 4 or 5 times since you posted it. It has got to be one of my all time favorites! Nice work, Joe! Stay well.
Good on you for standing for your family and whats right!
I am constantly amazed at the amount of drive and motivation you have to go on these trips, go through the trouble of filming everything so well, then editing the videos! A very admirable quality!
Hi Joe loven the video so far I'm at 27:48. The bird is a WHITE -THROATED SPARROW, his song is Oh -sweet-Canada-Canada-Canada!
nice! thanks
haha I was literally just scrolling through all the comments to find out what the bird was! lol. Thanks for the intel! Used to love the sounds of the forrest when I used to go camping back in the day. #citylifenow :(
Kelly Balkom im pretty sure its saying "cheeeeese-bur-ger"
What an Adventure! Damn... I was actually holding my breath a few times! Glad you're OK...Great Vid Joe...keep em coming!
Yeah, this one scared me a few times
Love the long videos HATE the long wait in between videos keep up the good work buddy 👍🏻
Good Luck.
Thanks for the info will put it to use in the future👍🏼
Fuckin' Genius
Yep, a friend of mine who was an avid fisherman from the southwest of Australia said you don't 'fish' for river trout. You hunt river trout!
I've watched this video twice now once when it came out and now almost a year later. Seriously you are one of my favourite people to watch on UA-cam and make me feel all the emotions right along with you.
Better than any Hollywood movie garbage......long format!
Thank you so much #nopeasantlife.
lol hashtag :)
"I stopped at this campsite, I had a glorious poop.."
Thanks for that, Joe.
lol, well it is true
"I stopped at this campsite and had a glorious poop."
Joe Robient for president 2020.
lol ... that is funny. isn't your bitch justin , completely screwing you and your country ????? america will never allow canada to become islamist. choose your enemy and choose them correctly. history will teach you that america is your friend. not the nazi loving countries from ww2. i mean all musllim countries.....
Backpacking Cape Breton we don't have sjw warriors fighting to censor free speech and put in place Shariah Law. The fact Canada has surpassed the U.K. As a world power is absolutely terrible. Stop throwing insults.
Ripped Top Shelf l
Shaun Abbott Dude what? He didnt mention anything about canoeing, just gave a good to get good GoPro footage.
Shaun Abbott did you mom drop you on your head?
You're not the smartest person in your family, are you? No one was comparing fishing to surfing at all; instead he was referring to keeping water off of a go pro. Go watch some Miley Cyrus videos, as they seem to be more your speed
Shaun must be drunk lol.

your eyes got so big when you took your first bite of trout! so cute.
Hi Joe. I know it sucks you got hit and all but sometimes a black eye is worth setting up change and making your life so much better in the end. I know your frustration and very glad to see that your family has moved and you are winning my friend. You have a gorgeous new home! Continued prayers for Scout. Keep up the good work.
What
It was good to watch one of your older videos, Joe. This was a good one. I can't believe I missed this 7 years ago. Take care and all the best to you and family.
One of my favorite videos you made... watched it several times so far.
I agree, watched it several times too. :)
Keep up with the long videos
@Deac
If you watch enough UA-cam videos you'll realize that it will attract a small percentage of idiots. Best strategy is to ignore.
It might be "Person".
Raw quality content, I love it.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Awesome footage!
thanks!
Thanks pal.
Watched the entire thing taking notes, getting ready for my first solo kayaking trip!
Hey did you get to take that trip yet?
Chris Hession how’d it go
Lol bet they never went
And if you gotta take notes something really tells me for you not to go alone
@@charlesrose3303 Maybe he never made it back :-(
Keep up the long format.
Thank you
Shot of Jack for every time Joe says “portage”
try with "moose poop"
Do you want alcohol poisoning? Cause that's how you get alcohol poisoning

Challenge accepted. I'm dickered. Ha! 🥃
Amazing video, better than some movies. In my opinion, long videos are more practical than short parts so keep it up. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. From Belgium.
i knoiw this is old, but kudos to you joe for keeping your cool.
I stumbled upon this channel about 4 days ago and I can’t stop watching, I think everyone should do something like he does and see how humbling it is to live off the land and create your own shelters just to stay alive. Nature is a beautiful thing!
Second time watching this. This is one of the best videos on UA-cam
Wow, what a great video; proud of you man, that’s what mind over matter/pushing through pain/perseverance looks like! Bravo, good job!
Joe is gonna be a back in my day kinda guy.
Joe. That bird calling back to you was the most pimp shit my little city boy self has ever seen.
Joshua Cawthorn same
Joshua Cawthorn haha! I just made a similar comment😂
Man big respect man, the way you handled that situation is amazing
Canadian Drifter i saw that paddle too! Crazy weather eh
bravo Joe! well done lol it took me 3 days to watch it all but well done buddy.
The Pioneer Channel EXACTLY
i watch the long ones in the bath because they are more relaxing than music :)
Kangarooii good to know haha I'll keep that in mind for some of my trip videos
Kangarooii ha ha me to 👍
Joe Robinet, huge fan of what you do.
Thank you for another amazing video Joe,! Cheers!
I couldn’t stop smiling when that bird kept on singing his tune back to him
Anyone know what kind of bird that was? I was just curious
It sounds like some kind of sparrow
Mockingjay
White-throated sparrow
I experienced them on a paddle trip in the Wisconsin northwoods last year. It was a lot of fun singing back and forth with them. One repeatedly flew from one side of camp, to the other, then back, then back again, over and over for probably about an hour. They make fun friends to have in the woods!
I have not skipped anything and will not joe makes the best videos keep up the good work man.
How does he shit? He doesn't bring toilet paper I doubt he uses leaves.
@@Satisfyingurmind thats just something you should always bring you just dont have to show anyone. Im sure he has toilet paper
After the snow melts, the worlds most amazing country appears!
LOOOOLL!!!! - "I was sooo startled."
These so called “explorers” on UA-cam don’t know what they’re talking about hahah you’re the real deal
I'm imagining someone on the shore just watching you cruise past talking to yourself and not realising there's a camera... I would love to see that perspective haha
lol
I've heard local bears think Joe's batshit crazy.
Bahaha
@@shaunpearson7905 you been to the bears den too
sometimes, i dream about camping and the relaxation it brings. sometimes, i watch this and it shows me what camping can also be.
That guy was an A hole that hit you, probably bashes his wife and kids, you don"t need it around you, you doing the right thing moving on, you have to protect your family. Cheers.
Equal rights......And lefts no matter what or who it was. You should never let anybody get away with hitting you without defending yourself.
Ha det bra!
What time does he say about that
Andrew Wozniak 55:44
Ric Moffet is it a canadian thing to say "cheers" not making fun just asking
Just imagine all the editing he puts in this too oh god, good job keep up the work
Love the long format. Relaxing and always enjoyable.
I'm 71 yr. old retired teacher...a grandmother too.
J Smitty lol. The word "portage" is a fancy-sounding name for what it actually is. I feel the same way about the "chassis" of the car.
yeai know, just had to make the comment! haha
I loved this video. Sorry the weather wasnt as god, and I hope your elbow gets better soon!
Long videos are amazing!!!!!
Watching this again. It's so great.
Jason McIntosh - I'm with you. There's nothing wrong with chilling for a while... a rest day does wonders!
Maybe if the weather wasn't so crappy. I don't think I would have wanted to just spend an extra day sitting in the rain either. Also, he seemed to be on a pretty strict timeline.
That's true. Rain can change everything.
But didn't he do the last two days of travel in one day?
He has IBS, and dampness and stress make that worse. He probably had to get home to deal with that
I couldn’t stop watching I watch it till the end
Drinking game: Take a shot every time he says Portage. If you make it to the end of the video, you aren't mortal
Adam Raymond or how about every time he paddles you haft to take a shot
Did i miss it... but.. what happen to your eye? How he get that shiner?
Quickplaya his nabour hit him with a baseball bat
Ran out of booze and had to replace with bong hits...still a fun game.
What the heck is a Portage ? Been trying to figure it out ..
Probably would never happen but I don't plan on finding out
I use waders while kayaking as well, but not in current or water over 3-4 feet
This is a good video joe probably won't see this but if you do your awesome
thanks!
I like your longer vids the most. but there all welcome bro.
