So the second still the best for me, probably because of my good memories about the second one too. Anyways great run and my appreciation for this upload!
Great play through as always. I used to search for this game back in the day at flea markets, garage sales, and thrift stores. I could not find it and never personally heard of anyone who owned it. I’d say it is a much rarer game than people think.
@@NintendoComplete Hi Alex! I actually never came across AI 2 in the wild either. It’s such a good game that the people who actually bought it probably kept it. The 3rd one came out late in the NES lifespan, but I’ve seen supposedly “rarer” games many times and never seen AI 3. Anyways, I know I often make the exact comment as my rarity comment above, but I actually think this was one of the hardest NES games to find in person. Thanks for all the Adventure Island and Wonder Boy videos, they bring back great memories - I look forward to new ones!

I swear, with the positioning and color of the eyes, and the fact they're always half-closed in that "I literally do not care" look, I thought the purple dino was wearing sunglasses for years.
Neat, another great Adventure Island... just one more left on the Famicom, too. 2, 3 and 4 are all fun. Sometimes less is more, and in this case just doing 'almost' the same thing again was the right call.
As a regular Adventure Island game on NES, or an Adventure Island game in general? Because there’s other Adventure Island games other than the NES Library, and two of them from the lineup has similar elements to Monster World.
I like 2 much more, it has a better difficulty level (3 hands out way too many powerups) and it has much better music (the new tracks in 3 are almost all bad besides Coastal Clash)

It is quite good, and interestingly, it's the last Famicom game... so, no wonder it didn't come out in the West. Mid-1994 was just half a year before the Japanese release of Sega Saturn and PS1. Most Famicom games at that time had pretty bad sales, obviously.
oh interesting so that little fairy that gave invulnerability was kind of the inspiration behind the Mask in Crash bandicoot. Then again I think the Star in Mario gave popularity to the idea of temp invulnerability

Adventure Island 3 is pretty much a carbon copy of the second game, but that's not a bad thing when the game is this good.
With the major difference of fruit count and you can have more than 9 lives

It's emulated, so there's no noise in the video signal like you'd see if it was recorded from an NES.

Um, in Adventure Islands 2 and 3, is there a way to determine which stage you go next, or is it all random?
In AI2, it depends on the egg you choose at the end of a level. In AI3, you have to find a hidden room in each stage to go to the alternate path.
