I received Ninja Gaiden as a birthday present as a kid. It mesmerized me and I view it as a masterpiece. You have to learn how to navigate this game inch by inch or you will die, often. It is like the first Castlevania or Super Ghouls N Ghosts in that way, but it is so rewarding when you finally finish it. The opening cinematic and the cut scenes are incredible. Your skill and dedication to showcasing this classic game's essence shine brightly. Can't wait for more content like this - keep up the fantastic work!
18:31 So the cut scenes between levels were revolutionary but this one in particular towers above the rest for me. The way the game abruptly cuts to it, then has ominous music build and crescendo with Ryu in the foreground and the Jaquio's demented castle in the background as a cold wind blows - just epic. No dialogue, no melodrama, just everything you need to know described with a few measures of music and one striking image. It's the kind of thing that you'd think would happen right before the last level but it occurs at just over the halfway point, showing just how involved Ninja Gaiden's story was compared to everything else at the time.
Go ninja, go ninja, go! Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for NES was a fun time, but boy, does the difficulty ramp up towards the end. That final boss rush does require some practice and patience.

Man… I was 7 years old when this came out. That opening duel is forever burned in my memory. Me and my best friends at the time spent hours and hours on this game. I haven’t thought of it in a long time. Just popped in my head today along with going over to their house in the summer. 4th of July when I was a kid and seeing my first Jenny McCarthy PB mag. Haha. Simpler times and I had awesome people to grow up with. I miss the late 80s and early 90s bad sometimes. It was a whole different vibe back then. Also, mad props to whoever did this play through. A near flawless run. Shit we could never get past act III. This game took some skill!
So Ken Hayabusa is himself a PhD in archeology, I hope people get that straight. The man was more than a practicing modern day samurai. Tokyo U.? Or perhaps he studied somewhere in Utah (Maybe UH?) with Dr. Smith. Either way very interesting developments. I'd love some theories.
29:25 - the toughest boss in all of Ninja Gaiden, if you didn’t have the Jump Circle Slash, you better have a full bar for him. You cannot avoid his thunder at all! Also greatest track in the whole series. Tecmo killed it here.
Ninja Gaiden was a game I got for Christmas I absolutely fell in love with! Difficult, hard hitting awesome 8 bit tunes and mini movies! It took me until last year I was 39 to complete this and castlevania 1 wish I would of sat down along time ago and learned every level back in the day!
Ninja Gaiden was epic, and it was one of the first games that blew my mind on the NES. It made you feel like you could be a ninja because it took so much skill to beat the game. 😁
I hadn't heard that since the 1980s but immediately remembered it as soon as it started playing. I used to love that cutscene as a kid just because of the music.
Use to play this game all the time at my cousin's house as a kid. Finally beat it as a teenager, but this one is more difficult than 2 and 3. Love this game, will always be a classic in my book.
If you're really good, and hold on to the Jump n Slash until you reach the boss, each boss becomes a joke. And having played this and the other two games in Japanese, I've noticed a couple of things: They clearly changed some of the lines. Foster originally said before Act 4 began, "You're not that dumb. Are you?" and Ryu said "Onare Jaquio!" before he was about to fight him. No idea what Onare means. I also noticed that everytime a character spoke to you telepathically, double hook brackets were used.
Yeah, that rolling slash cuts through them like a hot knife through butter. Onare is the equivalent of yelling something like "come on!" or "bring it!" It's meant to provoke a reaction.

Some regulars of this channel might know that the song April by Deep Purple was an inspiration for the dungeon theme in the original legend of Zelda. Go back and listen to the Deep Purple song, and I think that you'll hear the opening cut scene music to Ninja Gaiden as well.
Something I love about Nintendo games like this is the fact that a lot of the enemy designs look like they could fit into most games, not counting the bosses of course. Some of them in this one alone look like they came from Castlevania and Ghosts’n’Goblins!
The temple seems to be a similar version of the destruction of Dracula's castle from the end of Castlevania 3, having the additional upper-story walkway and terrace, and leaving behind a broken base after it crumbles, the ending similar to the Trevor/Sypha ending, with Ryu/Irene.
I cleared this in 1989, last day of 8th grade. Still think its the best ending of any NES game in my collection. Cheesy and over dramatic, but that's the style of Ninja Gaiden cinema. Loved it.
Aw, Ninja Gaiden is one of the most brutal games out there, but still a 5/5 landmark game. I don't know how I beat this game as a kid back then............ because the last boss fight is the most brutal punishment in gaming history. If you lose to the last boss, you will get sent back to the beginning of the last stage! That got me so mad lol
Love cinematic scenes after beating every boss of levels completed this one of my favorite games playing it during my younger years it was hard but i had fun playing it ive beaten it so many times i quit playing it going through the cinema scenes and playing its like a movie from a beginning to happy ending Ninja Gaiden will always be a memorable game to remember growing up playing!!
For the longest time now, since the series' inception WAY back in 1988, I always wondered. The Ninja Dragon Sword is an ancient weapon that has been past down from generation to generation in the Hayabusa family. But this begs the question; who were Ryu's ancestors? Who were the previous owners of the sword before his time?
Ken/Jô Hayabusa, Ren Hayabusa, Jin Hayabusa, Grandpa Hayabusa (?, and there is one more Hayabusa that got cursed. Jô mentions him in NG3:RE. Apparently the guy died... all this Hayabusa members are from the modern timeline, but there was a time where all the game were connected..
In 1989, Ninja Gaiden was the epitome of epic storytelling, cutting edge 8-bit graphics, and unrelenting challenge in video games. What a classic.

Something I love about Nintendo games like this is the fact that a lot of the enemy designs look like they could fit into most games, not counting the bosses of course. Some of them in this one alone look like they came from Castlevania and Ghosts’n’Goblins!
" Tragic Fate " my favorite melody in this game
My jaw dropped on the first stage boss fight - "what?! the circular slicing thingie would just evaporate his health like THAT?!"
This game truly is an epic masterpiece. Difficult as all hell, but it's a great experience nonetheless. The music is phenomenal.
My dad bought this for me...🎉 I was 6 and still remember it like yesterday
This game was really difficult back in the day. What’s worse is that I couldn’t beat it & there were no Game Genie codes for the game.
One of my favorite NES games to play. 🫳🫴✨️
My dad got this game for me and my brother for Christmas took me long time to finally beat the game great times 😢😢😢😢
Holy crap, knowing the spinning jump attack was so OP would have saved me a lot of time as a kid.
Such difficult bosses "burrrrrrrrr."
C'est très cool cette vidéo.je vous encourage énormément pour continuer à faire des bonnes vidéos de ce genre 😊
12:49 This made me so sad when I was 9-years-old. 😔
The temple seems to be a similar version of the destruction of Dracula's castle from the end of Castlevania 3, having the additional upper-story walkway and terrace, and leaving behind a broken base after it crumbles, the ending similar to the Trevor/Sypha ending, with Ryu/Irene.
Amazing Series! NG2 has to be my favorite
I cleared this in 1989, last day of 8th grade. Still think its the best ending of any NES game in my collection. Cheesy and over dramatic, but that's the style of Ninja Gaiden cinema. Loved it.
Oi, watch it with the cheesy comment. Your not talking about religion here, this is NES, much more serious..
Great soundtrack
Nice to see what the rest of this game looks like after not being able to beat it when I was a kid lol
I’ve been playing this game for 35 years and I’m only just now learning that you can do a regular jump slash while you have the spin attack. Fuck me.
Impressive. I could never hang on to the spin attack until the boss fights...
