- Bobby G took the whaler out on Lake George. It’s a 70’s 13 foot Boston Whaler with a 50hp outboard. We raced a few classics and a 80’s Checkmate Piloted by the notorious @estebancliche

My 77’ has a 40hp Yamaha 4 stroke. I can get 34mph if it’s a little breezy but my nuts turn into a fine powder if I hit some chop.
Wow, Lake Hopatcong sure looks gorgeous this time of year!
I’ll bet lake Hopatcong is stunning right about now, just don’t know if Snake Bite can handle those seas !
I have a 1990 50hp Yamaha pro .. Power trim tilt.
If i trim up its fast .
Almost flips backwards if full throttle start.
Salt water bay ocean 🌊 big waves off long island new York.
Awesome 👍
Good times! I did this with the same type and size boat, and engine(our BW was an older and possibly lighter 13ft aluminum one). I went for a ride with a friend across the Chatham Strait and back in Alaska in the early 90's. It was uncommonly smooth as glass that day and we got chased by the Coast Guard because they thought we were crab pot thieves. I was laying across the bow to keep it in the water and they couldn't catch us, but we waited for them back at the dock all the same. No idea how fast we were going, but they said we were nuts.. Probably true.
This is a great story rusty thanks for sharing ! I’m sure you have them a good run for their money !!
I just picked up a 2009 50 2 stroke for free. Hoping to have her installed on my 1966 13 whaler soon. She’s gonna fly
Got a delly 13 with a 40 yammah 2 stroke had 31 knots on a calm sea in cornwall. This looks great
Had one as a kid.Spent all summer skiing behind it on an EP SLALOM SKI!!!!My buddy and I !!!!
Got the nice Johnson/evinrude on the back!
Nice set up! What engine year and make is that?
Nice!! Just hung one on my 13’ as well. What prop and prop pitch are you running?
To be honest I’m not too sure. All I know is that it’s a OMC part.
Mine has a mercury 9.9😅
Lmao
I think that is a little to much HP for this hull; but putting that aside, to "haul ass" on the water, IMO is not safe, though it is a hoot I admit. But remember you are not wearing a seat belt, you can hit any number of floating objects, best to slow down, take it easy on the water. It really isn't worth your--or more importantly, someone else's life.
35 mph for a 50hp ? I know some have put a Honda 50 4 stroke and done high 40's mid 50's in ideal conditions of course.
I can get 35mph ,with my 1976 35hp Johnson, on my rib inflatable.
What was the top speed? 30mph?
Top speed was a little difficult to test but around 35 mph. And a hell of a good time !
over powered
0:03 no hands on the wheel.
I'm over it. Not qualified.
Glad you liked the vid !
Good looking out, Karen
