I wonder what the secret is with the Boston Whalers? They always seem to take the waves better than the much bigger boats!
Nice ✌🏻
Boston Whalers have very buoyant bows and stay on top of the water. No secret, just good design. When a 60 foot boat with 6 outboards submarines into a wave, don't you think there is a design problem????
Toms I think you are right. After a deep review of all the clips filmed since 2018 until now, we could not find a single Boston Whaler stuffing at Haulover.
Even the big BW v-hulls have that distinctive outer flare after the vee. It prevents them from completely slicing through a wave.
Have always known them to be a tuff boat heard they were unsinkable don’t know if true or not.
The Legend always has his right hand on the throttle. He reads the waves and throttles accordingly. That gray hair says it all.
That's why he is The Legend...thanks for watching
RTL !!!
Hes probably a frogman, small craft rippin in rough water like its nothing .
Yup, the reason he doesn't look at the camera because he's watching what he's doing!
Yep
Best Boston Whaler advertisement ever filmed. I'm sold.
Facts! I’m probably getting mine this upcoming weekend.
@@jose.ramoscaban did you end up getting one?
@@LordCowbxyRDR Yes, I ended up with a Dauntless 16
The only power boat I would ever buy. I have a Montauk 170 now. I rented another brand of boat, in Miami actually, and couldn't believe how much it flexed in waves. I never realized how much stiffer the Whalers hull is compared to the competition, it's very confidence inspiring.
Pulled sailboats off rock walls, towed in storms, etc. as a teenager working at a sailing club with a Montauk 17. Had probably 8 inches of water in it yanking a boat in a storm and it never missed a beat. You always feel safe in it.
reason I own a 170 Montauk. im blacktop legend
One of the things I love about whaler is that they still have small boats 13-17 feet. The 17 Montauk truly is a legendary boat.
best boat out there. I own one
I just can’t justify the $65k price tag for a 17ft boat though …
Thanks for showing so many Whalers in one video! Amazing! Watching this has made me realize...Whaler, I think, has cracked the nut on finding the sweet spot to balance hull shape, boat weight and overall displacement, regardless of hull size, to make just amazingly dry riding, pretty and great performing boats. My dream boat is the Montauk 210. My FANTASY boat is the big Realm. One must have dreams and fantasies... (sigh)...
Montauk 210 are selling speced out for 90k now.
@@diastoleny Yeah, I know. Still...one can dream.
I'd be happy with 17' Super Sport
Thank you for this video. Brings back memories 50 years ago, when I was 16 years old and a proud owner of a 13ft. Whaler with a 33hp Johnson. in Fort Lauderdale.
I remember when a 35 or hp engine was respectable for speed boats and even water skiing.
Get the best tool you can afford, learn the feel of mastering that tool, and read the material you're working.
LOVE this vid and the showcasing of my favorite make of boat. I'd be tickled with a 15' CC, hard-top. My first choice would be to have twin smaller engines, if that's an option. "Two is one, one is none".
Great advice...Thanks for watching RatdogDRB
As a long time sailor, when it comes to powerboats, I’d choose a whaler!
Grew up sailing. Will only ever own whaler power boats. 👍
I never thought a boat could be happy but Red Top Legend looks like it's playing.
Red Top Legend is a pro. But Blue Top Legend is the new queen of the inlet. That girl has one setting and that is full send.
Thank for creating a video that is specifically Boston whaler. I'm always looking for them in the other videos mainly because I have owned one for years. Thank you for all of your great work.
There is nothing like a Boston Whaler, they are indestructible. Used to love to go wake jumping in my 13 foot with a 40 HP. FLY NAVY!!!
I know nothing about boats but I’ve learnt the Boston Whaler is a fine craft 👍🏻
Part of the secret success of the Red top is a perfect match of vessel and power, including getting just on plane to keep that little nose out of trouble.
And skill
Just bought a 2003 255 Conquest was a bit tatty but all of the original BW equipment still works as advertised 👍 have repowered, all new electronics, new clears and upholstery it looks a million bucks. Using it out of Perth Western Australia but can still see the original FL registration numbers in the gel coat 🇦🇺
The legend continues
Yeah...thansk for being here
BAck in the early 1980s I had a 1964 hull 13 foot Whaler with a 35 horsepower Force (Chrysler) motor. Just for fun, I went out Haulover a couple of times. It was enough with that boat to go in the Intracoastal; when some 50 foot boat went by was a lot of bouncing around in the waves. Good times!!
I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that Red Top Legend is an old tin can sailor from Korea or Vietnam era. He's fearless and can read the waters like a book.
Seems too young to me.
I’ve noticed a lot of boats with some nasty hulls.
Whaler makes some strong sturdy vessels.
Boston Whaler is an American boat manufacturer. It is a subsidiary of the Brunswick Boat Group, a division of the Brunswick Corporation. Boston Whalers were originally produced in Massachusetts, hence the name, but today are manufactured in Edgewater, Florida.
Thanks for sharing GBA
You can tell from the spray as it slices through waves that regardless of trim, how well-designed and practical the hulls are in the BWs. Other boats get a ton of spray irrespective of the trim settings, no matter the size and price tag.
Boston Whaler should be sending you a check, you've created a fine commercial/testimonial for their boats.
He doesn't look at the camera because he doesn't care. He's driving his boat, while the others shake their asses and fall into the water.
It could be...thanks for your honest comment
True story D C !
Thought the same thing
the legend won't look at the camera because he doesn't want to face the only thing that he fears......getting caught by his wife and dealing with her pissed off at him.
Need more blue top legend
Boston Whaler guys are like BMW Motorcycle guys, they couldn't care less if it was raining sharks, they will do whatever it takes to get where they need to be ! Toughest dudes ever !
Better than any of those ridiculously huge center consoles with 6 outboards on them
He doesn’t look because he’s the legend! Like Bigfoot has never stopped to pose for a picture, the legend will never give you a good shot. 😂
Recent subscriber here, great content BZ! I have an old 35' Fountain Lightning with 2 Chevrolet 632's. Boat is very fast but not always happy in some of our large Lake Huron waves.
Thanks for the sub!
BOSTON WHALERS ARE THE BEST KIND OF BOAT
when i was a kid we took a 13 ft whaler and pulled the petcock out and let water come in fill all the way up stop just about 5 inches before gun rails then we started motor 25 horse and started moving and the water went out slow till it was all gone there unsinkable those 13 ft can take the ocean rough weather they keep own going we had a blast with that boat
Red Top Legend, I so enjoy watching this little rig working efficiently and effortlessly.
That first Whaler's pilot just didn't use enough power. He almost cost himself his boat. That red top Montauk, though, wow... Great hull design and a good pilot.... The guy in that Vantage or Outrage- can't quite tell- he needs to be whipped for endangering his little girl in the bow like that. He could have killed her.
I love my 13 whaler.
With seeing so many children on the front of these boats without jackets, do you ever fear that it may be the last time you see them?
I couldn't examine how many things you guys must see that make you absolutely cringe/worry!
Love your vids. Subscribed!
29 kids go in the water, 22 kids come out. Ice Cream Man he took the rest.... seriously in any case anybody on my vessel would be in a pfd. That is serious there.
The Florida pool pump motor bearing repair guy approved ! that was good info
Had a Traveller boat many years ago. Had a lapstrake fiberglass hull with a flat gunwale and a wide bow flare. 100 hp Evinrude. I spent hundred’s of hours fishing off the mouth of the Columbia River in that thing until I decided it was to small. It was like a cork, handled everything I threw at it and rode high and dry. Replaced it with a I/O 22’ Sea Ray. With its soft chine and dropped bow it was the wettest boat I ever owned. Never ever came back over the bar without a wet face. Finally got sick of it and sold it.
Nothing better than a Boston Whaler
Wow I would love to take a ride with that red top guy! But dang, i might be sea sick haha. Nice video
Boston Whaler the GOAT of Haulover!
I luvs me some Whalers ... the hockey team too, but that's back in another life.
Love my 230 Outrage! Thanks for the video!
Truly the UNSINKABLE legend
He is a legend
The 23ft outrage is the best rough water powerboat in mass production that I know of. Best hull design. See how the curves of the bottom pull the vee further back to the center of the boat so that it creates more flowing deep arc rocker. Same theory used in the Don Radon "Radon Crafts" commercial utility dive boats of the 1960's. There is no flat to pound the swells and chops, the rails have the most rocker, and there is less now stem to cause broching, which is what sinks boats in 5 seconds.
This guy don’t look at the camera because he’s a legend
I'm fan of the Boston whalers ! The best !!
Can you do a series on the Freeman boats? Really like the Freeman 42.
There's Whalers...........Then there's everything else.
BWConquest 21 (1998) owner for 18 years, they’re not perfect but close to it. Aside from fire and capsizing there’s little else that threatens the worthiness of these boats on open waters. They’re sea tanks. BTW on flat water they are very fast.
4:50 the classic teabagg drive by…
The Outrage hull is the clear champion amongst champions
Greatest boats ever made.
Jeepers... there are times when it is NOT smart to go out...
What really your guy’s opinion on the Boston Whaler Jet Boats? I have the opportunity to buy a ‘94 BW Rage 14 and I want to pull the trigger on it but not sure if its only a lake boat or is it good for saltwater as well? What are your opinions on the Boston Whaler Rage series?
Amazing Boat 😍
They may not sink, but the smaller ones have a hell of a reputation for flipping over!!
My 17’ Boston Whaler Outrage is a fabulous boat. I searched long and hard to find the right one to buy for my retirement. Got her!
Red Top Legend is King Of Small Boats Running The Inlet, or KOSBRTI. Koz-Burr-Tee? However one says KOSBRTI, Red Top Legend is it.
I wolike that ride
I wouldn’t like that ride
Best small boats!!
Well you had the TITANIC the will be the Boston-anic when it strikes a wave 🌊
What ever happened to the Yellow top legend? I think he was around before Red Top
How anyone going out in water like that can enjoy it baffles me, especially with the family onboard. As well are Boston Whalers are built for open water this don't look like fun to me... Those folks in the '13ft BW at about 3:25 are insane going out in this water... IMO
you don't know what fun is till you have been out there when it's like that.
Once out of that area ot is usually pretty tame.
@@fredbresnahan4376 I've bee through there Fred, that's how I formed that opinion. A 17' closed bow cobia runabout with a 115hp evinrude. You're obviously a boat guy so you know what that water did to me in that small boat, as well as boynton inlet and Jupiter inlet.
@@GT-mn3bx you're mostly right, the problem is getting through to the calmer(?!) water.
@@djs3484 just did it so often i was good at it but ive seen boats go under and not come back up at boca inlet, tore the seats out of there bases on mine, but you get a bit more carefull as you get older...for a reason.
Have had two boston Whalers (1999 26 Outrage and 2006 32 Outrage) in my life and by far they are very dry boats. Not meant for speed at all just a very dependable boat that retains value after many years. Not a very deep V so it won't cut through the chop like a Seavee or a Contender, but when you are drifting or bottom fishing you're not bobbing around like the rest either.
And to top it off ...they are unsinkable.
Anyone else find that Whalers (and similar light/bow up boats) are fine heading into seas that don't break, yet are a hazard in following and beam seas?
It figures he’s the only boat out that day.
I never see any Grady’s in Miami. Are there any?
yes
Man, I love these vids! I’m a sailor, but I’d have a power boat if I could afford to run one (as anyone who has spent a “boat buck” knows, that buying and operating are two opposite sides of the same coin! Almost anyone can afford to buy a BUY a boat)
And…. there’s more skill and knowledge involved in being able to “cross the bar” than there is in being able to “pass the bar”! lol - cheap pun, but I also LOVE to make fun of lawyers! Boaters rock! Lawyers chisel! And there’s a sh!+ load of lawyers who own boats - but are not boaters! - they’re dangerous on sea AND land!
Peace
You are right! ... Thanks for watching!

💥 Not Wearing Life Vest ☠️ It’s Going To Get Them💥
Have you ever seen Blue or Red top crash in a bad way?
Never
And never will!
Barely a life jacket in sight
Red top won’t look at the camera because he’s experienced and keeps his eyes forward not looking all over for a camera to show off! I’d think you’d know that.
6:24. That’s the flattest I’ve seen the inlet
Overall, the whole shape determines a lot about a boat. How it handles the waves or what you can expect from it? But more important than that, it's the driver. He has to know what that voter's capable of and he has to know how to take away. My dad boated his whole life and I never rode with anyone anywhere that was better at handling the worst kind of waves than my father he knew exactly when to throttle down, throw it up how to take it. Take it on the porch. I take it on the porch. I take it on the stomach side. Change this position I have so much respect. For those who know what they're doing for.. And I pray for those who don't
Only the rad kooks are out asking for it on some of those rough waves
Anyone find the guys name yet?
Nop
Dose the RTL even know he's the RTL?
I don't think so
@@BoatZone WOW!!! I wish I could be a legend and not know it. I bet my Ex could add to that. LOL
Those kids at 4:00 needs to have a damn life jacket on!.
Which model Whaler is Red Top Legend driving?
I know they're great boats, hold alot of value, but the BW prices seem insanely overpriced.
Go bit to side of a wave instead of head on that's what I do stay dry and not ruff ride glide over waves
I can’t believe how many captains don’t know how to trim their motors. Most boats don’t have their antenna’ raused
I want to have freedom like America
👍👍😎⚓️
'Whaler' 😂🤣😃😄😅😆
There’s 30 different speeds to enter and exit a ruff inlet . Most people go the same speed the entire way. The good guys change RPMs and and sped every wave. When entering or exiting your not just looking at the wave in front, you need to look at the 3 waves infront of that one. Just like a car, your always watching the drivers brake lights in-front of the car your behind . Period. Call me
For lessons on entering or existing ruff inlets. Sometimes you need to wait for sets to pass and take different angles out or in. Not always straight out or in
Boston whalers guys. I chanage you all to the best enter and exit of any inlet in south Florida. I have a flats boat skiff. 1,000 bucks gos to winner. 3 enters and 3 exits. Fans vote ! Hit me up if anyone’s down
Not just these whalers are better designed and sea-worthy boats, their operators seems far more wiser and skilled.
Wasn't the Titanic unsinkable? No boat, ship, or anything else on the water is unsinkable. That kind of arrogance will get you killed.
A Boston Whaler is not the Titanic. It's a Boston
Whaler! They CAN'T Sink! Not arrogance, just a fact! Incredible boats but costly.
I would have the kids in PFDs.
Whats with all the BLACK bottom paint,,, YUCK
Most Boston Whalers have bad ass captains, but some only belong in lakes and dams.... 🤨 🧐
This RED TOP old-man and his Whaler..isn't passing waves he rides the smaller ones...Ha Ha! NOW, those two sisters in their Whaler, these teenagers called shows why Red TOP isn't all-that. I have owned and been around Whalers all my life on the water. Centerport, L.I.N.Y.
Red Top is not looking at the camera because he is tending to business.
the 2 small girls on that one boat up n the bow should have been wearing there life jackets they should be fined.if they fall over board they would most likely drown
My whaler was so much smalller
Nobody ever wears a life jacket
Funny watching these small 13,16,17 foot whalers crush the inlet while these clueless millionaires with their 40+ ft center consoles stuff the bow 🤣
Little for the bad boaters to lean here. You should get an expert to analyze the rights and wrongs.
