My 2000 Accord is a sedan, with a 5 speed. It’s got leather seats, sun roof, fog lights, and is really nice, and the manual makes the car a lot of fun. It’s become tied for my favorite generation with the 3rd because of those headlights, but especially with the back lights on the 6th it’s won me over. I do wish it had seat warmers but I really want to get another with low miles, or a wagon version from Japan Oh I bought it from a police impound auction for $360 lol at 238,000. It’s got 270,000 now still going strong
I love my 01' EX to bits, was a cheap used buy from my local Honda dealer, probably a high mileage trade-in....same color as yours w/ a tan interior, is in need of a good repaint as it's got the usual clear coat issues on the top panel and trunk, some chipped paint areas, but- mechanically? Nothing wrong with it, was well maintained and my local indie Honda mechanic knows his stuff to keep it that way. Drives like a daily city cruiser you'll want to roll down the windows, hit the sunroof, turn on some music (either with the 5 CD changer or use the tape deck for your mobile).... and just go forever. My mom also has the same car she bought new in silver w/grey interior.....only 84k miles as it was strictly a 'daily commuter' to work and errands only- but you're right in how beaters are more carefree to drive. Hers is pretty mint and feels like it... mine is much more 'lived in' with hockey and camping gear all over the place *laugh*
Recently I started using mine as a daily commuter to work and I'm even more impressed with it now then when I posted this video, Ive really been enjoying driving it.
I have a 2002 accord, and the thing runs like a top most of the time. Smooth shifting. Can't even tell when it switches gears. And some of these will run for 200,000 miles without even replacing the original parts that in other vehicles would be par for the course. I say this after having it break down three times in one week, I just had it towed home an hour ago. I think it's the fuel pump. Yesterday it was the oxygen sensor and before that it was a spark plug wire that had a leak. I've probably fixed eight different things in the last year but I have 230,000 mi. Everything I replaced cost under $500 total. All of these are simple repairs that we need for a high mileage vehicle, but they're all easy to replace and none are very expensive.
The fact it’s bone stock is amazing. Here in Southern California they are ratted, riced out and pimped out. Sun is not kind to the factory paint. My father had a 1999 LX 5-speed and loved driving it. It got totaled after my brother and sister both got into accidents while using it.
I have a 2000 accord Sedan with a 5 speed, 270,000. The only thing I’ve changed is the radio. Not even the speakers, Although after doing some wheel swapping between that and my 95 accord wagon which someone hit and totaled, and then those wheels went with the wagon I’ve had to swap the wheels. So I went with 4 different 6th gen accord wheels It feels like every one I see up close where I live (MN), that hasn’t been modified is a automatic It’s so much fun as a manual. I love the car, it’s got almost no rust as well which is very uncommon in Minnesota
My parents still have their 2001 Accord EX with almost all of the options and completely stock. It just crossed the 100,000 mile mark last year and it's been extremely reliable. The 6th generation really does seem to be the last of the 'classic' Accords. It seems to have much more in common with even the 1st gen Accords than the more recent models, even down to the shape of the automatic shifter, the little coin drawer thing, the top-down diagram of the car in the gauge cluster for indicating open doors, and the functions of the turn signal stalk.
I have a 2000 accord sedan 5 speed With 270,000 I got it at 238,000 Besides suspension parts, it’s had the brake lines replaced, due to good old Minnesota rust haha Otherwise it hasn’t had a single issue

I have a 2002 SE Sedan with 151,000 miles on it that I bought used from the local Honda dealer in September 2004 with 15,000 miles on it. It still runs well although I had to have major cooling system work done on it last October. More recently I had to replace both headlamp bulbs and the heater blower resistor. These cars were well designed and there were so many of them made that most mechanical shops know how to fix them. Mine still has many original parts including many of the light bulbs and the rear brake shoes (mine does not have rear discs or ABS).
I have an 01 EX 5 speed. 312,xxx miles on it. Stock everything. Minus the sound system. She does have sun damage. And surprisingly, the subframe has no rust. Drove her all around Cali and drove it to Texas, where I am currently stationed, and getting ready to drive her back to Cali to visit family. She drives like a dream.
Nice!! 5 speed is the way to go. If you have a manual one it will pretty much last forever. What kills most of the cars is the auto transmission failing.
I just purchases a 2000 Accord LX with 68,000 miles for 5K in Phoenix Arizona and drove it back to northern Illinois. I really like the Honda Accord. On the way back we were doing 70 mph and got 34 miles per gallon. Around town stop and go about 21, but that was expected. I will keep this Accord for some time and am in the process of fixing little things, nothing major. I would do it again in a hartbeat.
Best car I ever had. I had a 1999 Accord LX!! It went up to 320,000miles until it got totaled. Only issue was the transmission otherwise it ran very well!! Wry simple car
Yeah no they are great on my second 6th gen accord (99 ACCORD LX) my first one was a (98 EX model) super easy to work around a good first car for anyone but also has that enthusiast touch to it considering there are manual versions of the 6th Honda accord.
I owned a 1999 LX that I brought brand new and freaking loved it!!!! I put 200,000 miles on it and ran even though I was rear-end and half the car had to be replaced. I sold it after 10 years and missed it so much that I bought a 2000 ex v6 with the rear end spoiler. Loved it but transmission had issues. Now I drive a 2015 Civic Ex which is only thing that comes close....don't like the CVT.
the v6 has more transmission problems. the 4 cylinder does occasionally, but usually not if the transmission was serviced regularly by draining and adding Honda OEM ATF.
i had a 1999 odyssey for almost 14 years and it was the best vehicle I ever owed. Except the bad transmission lasted until 2018. its interior is similar to your Accord.
I bought a used 2000 Accord 4.banger 2.3l, At with 149k in 2006. I drove it hard and far. It got really good gas milage and was really fast and it lasted me till I blew the head in 2014 with 235K. I love the car so much im still trying to fix it lol Before I got the car I could never understand why people ♡Hondas but after my CG6 I totally understand why.
I need to start taking care of my 2011 coupe. 150k on it.No mechanical problems, just needs a good paint job. Florida sun kills paint if you keep your car in the sun.
@Acura Advice bro that’s not a beater it’s in good shape! Can’t think of many 2001 cars still looking that shiny. I see you have British Columbia plates, that’s cool I live in Campbell river so we live near each other. You must still have this car 1 year later. I see on the oil change sticker it has low mileage for the year! That thing will probably go past 500,000 km on that same drivetrain.
Ya it was a pretty solid car actually, that generation of Accord is so good! I kept it for a while but I did end up selling it because I bought an Acura 2.3CL, which is the same powertrain in a nicer package.
The only downside of this generation imo is that they have timing belts. Other than that, they’re tanks! I have a 2001 sedan with 208,000 miles. I love it!
Good review; thanks for the video. I own a 2006 4-cyl. 5-speed manual, and at 150k it might need a clutch thrust bearing soon, but it is a great car. It sips gas, and I get 20-35 mpg, better than most. I love it. And at any speed, it drives really well on the feeeway. I just saw a 2001 sedan on CL (July 2022) with a low 58k miles. It is a 4-cyl. automatic, one owner, in perfect condition, and they're asking $3.8k. I might buy it just because of it being so clean and unused. It has dark paint (ick), but the tan interior is like new. I just might get it.
