I have a 1998 Honda Accord with 509,000 miles on it. I replaced the radiator, thermostat, and hoses. I’m also replacing the water pump, timing belt, and new hoses for the power steering. It should run like a dream after that. It blows cold air, and hot heat. The inside needs a good cleaning up, and I plan on doing a spray can paint job. But it was all I could afford with 7 kids, and it works fine for now. I’m also looking into buying a suv soon. So I can get all of my kids at once. Things are looking up for me, and thank you Scotty for giving me the confidence to tackle this myself.
I have a similar one 2007 Accord ex. Got it with 115k miles for $4000. Still running great at 165k miles 5 years later. I put low rolling resistance tires on it, now it can get up to 40 mpg in highway. Only had to replace brakes/rotors, starter, and spark plugs last 5 years.
I have an 03 Accord coupe with the 4 cylinder and it's got 250,000 miles and still going strong. I love that thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it made it 100,000 miles more.
I have a coupe with 140K miles. These cars are built to run forever and stupid easy/cheap to buy, own and maintain. Single serpentine belt, mechanical valve-train, timing chain. Pretty much everything can be accessed from the top of the engine. Plenty of working room under the hood. Only real issue is the transmission had a recall. They installed a squirter in the fill hole and problem fixed.
I personally have a 2007 Honda Accord Sedan with a 5 speed manual transmission that I bought for about $800 but I am still learning more how to properly drive stick shift.
I told everyone I know this same thing for Toyota’s and Honda’s. Most people don’t always listen to me and get something that’s a serious money pit. But oh well.
Yup mainly cuz there’s two kinds of people people who get cars for status and people who get em for what they’re made for which is transportation and reliability
@@efrainmarquez269 I've had my 99 civic for 11 years and it's been problem-free. I did replace a lot of the major engine components with Honda OEM parts because of the pandemic.
I remember years ago a guy came in with his car after it failed it's MOT because of the ABS light on. They told him the main modulator had failed and it was £1200 for a new unit. I checked it out and the other garage was correct and not scamming. He said he couldnt afford to repair it and didn't care about the ABS so i spliced the ABS light to the Airbag system. Light came on with the Airbag and went off so the other garage passed it thinking he had it fixed. Nice one
A friend of mine from Church sold me his 2004 Accord for $1. It has 263k miles, but it runs great. It needs some body work and the driver's seat is torn. I am fixing things one piece at a time to get my son ready for college. A great little car that has a V6 engine, and heated leather seats.
Had a 2003 accord lx, absolutely incredible no frills car that was reliable for all the years I had it. Would love another one, maybe a DX... I had an lx and it's too many features for me sometimes
The V6 engines do last a while but I got rid of my 2004 Accord at 191,200 miles and picked up a 2014 2.4L Accord Sport with only 61K miles, I will run this till the wheels fall off.
Hello Scott,In NIGERIA most people hate this car because it's fairly used brought into the country. The front joint use to go out and most a times destroy the fenders
The new civic is terrible I just rented one. It rides so rough and the seats are so uncomfortable it makes the car feel bad. The engine seemed good but it was too rough
@@justinrose6763 enterprise in Michigan I actually rented a Kia Soul and when I got there they’re like we got this civic which is was excited for until I actually drove it.
I have this exact model but beige! Absolutely love it! Used to be my parents car. I remember getting driven to middle school in the back seat. Of course now I’m driving myself around. Nothing better than that nostalgic feeling you get driving your childhood car. Pushing 230,000 mi now.
I already own 2 cars so if I get this one, I would be stupid. 3 cars ? Not needed. But … if I didn’t have a car and was in need of one now, this is a smart choice !
Our kids both had an Accord as their first car, the same one. Daughter named it Marlene. 3 years later we gave her our older Accord and her brother got her Accord, he named it Jeremy. 2 years later he totaled it sliding into a telephone pole 300 ft. from our house. Gotta love 17 year old boys. Jerelene (they combined the names) had 217,000 trouble free miles but living in the rust belt the rust was starting to take her. We could have saved it after our sons crash but the frame was so rusty it wasnt worth it. Son now has a Camry and our daughter is still driving our old Accord. Looks and drives like new with 151,000 troubles free miles. I moved up to a mint 2014 Accord V6 (always wanted one) with 52,000 miles that flat out moves! Loved all my Accords!
I have the updated 2006 Accord and paid 7k USD for it in Thailand. 180k miles on it but still running strong. Only thing I had to do in the last years ( apart from basic maintenance ) was replacing the ac compressor clutch after a trip where I drove 2k miles in 3 days. It is a great car
I got a 2004 Accord sedan with the 2.4 auto and I love it. 108k miles for $2k. Only thing replaced so far, replacing the starter, it's behind the intake manifold. Doing brake pads in a couple of days.
@@johnl3230 well not really I checked the Kelly blue book and thats about what the car was worth at the time and now that prices have gone up its value has gone up so considering that I bought it right before the chip shortage I think I got a pretty good deal
Nice car, we’ve been looking for our daughter just got her license. Best so far is a 08 Blazer with 97,000 miles. Can’t believe how many used Nissan Rogues or Jeep Libertys, Patriots and Compass are at every dealer we go to.
I drive a 2003 Dodge Intrepid, still runs GREAT. 3.5L V6 and it drives AWESOME! The intrepid is great and super underrated as long as you stay away from the EVIL 2.7L… but yes there ARE shockingly good used dodge cars.
I have an 04 accord. Bought it three years ago with 2,50,000 kms for CAD $2000. Today, it is 3,70,000 kms with no or little maintenance and still running strong here in Canada
As a father who gave an old perfectly good car ( Toyota in my case ) to his daughter, I fear what 2 years has done to that car. Though I always remember the adage my father told me: “every teenager wrecks their first car… some do it fast, some do it slow, but your first car is only one thing: a lesson”
Those year Accords had lots of inner CV joints with excess wear on the tulip. Put two rebuilt axles in one, and still had a shake. Took the tulip off the old core that had a tight inner joint and put it on the rebuilt axle that was assembled with a worn tulip. Problem solved.
I own 2003 Accord LX bought new in November 2002. It is rare made in Japan before they moved manufacturing to the Ohio factory. Still my daily beater and going strong at 240,000 miles.
My ‘04 Accord has the exact same error code, and because of this video I think I’m gonna skip replacing the sensor since it looks like I’m gonna have to take off the passenger seat in order to get to the connector (my carpet is all stiff and won’t lift up properly). I’ll just use the scanner about once a month or so. I’ve loved my Accord for a long time, still rocking my first car 8.5 years later
Love my 2006 Honda Civic! Had it for 6 yrs now, 155,000 miles, runs like a dream, no codes, changed the PCV valve on the regular, changed the Auto Trans fluid and the power steering fluid, blows cold AC, purrs like a kitten! I had another Civic,1986, put 375,000 miles on it and then sold it for what i paid! 🙌🙌🙌
@@hadmymonkeypoxvaccineimcra2328 it depends on what you eat. I have been so busy I have been only eating dinner and its mainly been meat and bread, no fruits or vegetables.
Ha! Makes me feel good for steering my daughter to find her own Honda Accord (2001)for her first car when she was 17. Now four+ years later no major issues, runs like a top... she loves it and won't speak of updating it! Nice.

I bought 2006 Honda Accord with 147000 miles 3 years ago now I have 240000 miles it still runs great only replaced the starter and vvt solenoid 👍🏻
I love my 2008 Yaris hatchback , it's peppy as hell and fun to drive ( standard ) and the gas gauge doesn't move !
I have an 03 Accord coupe with the 4 cylinder and it's got 250,000 miles and still going strong. I love that thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it made it 100,000 miles more.
Got super lucky in March finding a '96 Corolla wagon for $1,100. Stick shift. Fun as heck. Runs great!! 🍀😊👍
Love when Scotty does a “pull”
Honda and Toyota sedans of the 90s and early 00s are built like tanks.

I personally have a 2007 Honda Accord Sedan with a 5 speed manual transmission that I bought for about $800 but I am still learning more how to properly drive stick shift.
Ha, my sister drives a 05 accord with 387,000 km, the thing will run forever. 😄
x .62 = 239k miles so not really impressed.
Put gasoline in and they will go forever.
I have the same exact Honda. White EX with spoiler. Has 280k miles. Runs and shifts great.
I've been telling people for a long long time that you can't go wrong with a Honda.

Put a small piece of black tape over the check engine light and everything will be fine…

Hello
How are you doing
You don't know nothing about cars.
@@claudiosaccordlife2110 🤣 Just a little joke!
My first car was a Gold 89 Accord. Then a 95 Accord VTec. Can’t go wrong with a Honda.
Hello Todd
How are you doing hun?
My ‘07 Accord LE has almost 216000 miles on it. Still has the original clutch and runs amazing. Great model for any first-time car owner.
Had a 2003 accord lx, absolutely incredible no frills car that was reliable for all the years I had it. Would love another one, maybe a DX... I had an lx and it's too many features for me sometimes
2002 Mitsubishi Mirage ! The 2003 Honda Accord had Transmission problems.
Lancer that is Lol
Not mine!! 03 Honda 2.4 AT, 185k and still going strong, chgd tranny filter and fuilds @ 130k!!
$3500 for a honda with less than 100k miles. Thats a steal in my book
The V6 engines do last a while but I got rid of my 2004 Accord at 191,200 miles and picked up a 2014 2.4L Accord Sport with only 61K miles, I will run this till the wheels fall off.
Those Accords are awesome. I miss mine. Manual transmission too.
Hello Scott,In NIGERIA most people hate this car because it's fairly used brought into the country. The front joint use to go out and most a times destroy the fenders

Scotty id love to show you my 2000 camaro. Amazing car, just retired her as my daily, but still runs great.
That’s the better accord than the new one they have now

The 2003 and 2004 Accords had serious transmission issues, BUT ONLY THE V6 models. The 4 cylinder models were/ are bulletproof.
The thing is, my dad, my mother, and my sister and I drove from california to Ohio and back and it made it. It had over 234k miles on it lol
Headed through Clarksville in 2 weeks. Meeting an old Army buddy at The Catfish House, aka Wilsons Catfish.
I have the updated 2006 Accord and paid 7k USD for it in Thailand. 180k miles on it but still running strong. Only thing I had to do in the last years ( apart from basic maintenance ) was replacing the ac compressor clutch after a trip where I drove 2k miles in 3 days.

Why not change the sensor just to clear the CEL? Because it's not serving any purpose when it's lit 24/7

As a father who gave an old perfectly good car ( Toyota in my case ) to his daughter, I fear what 2 years has done to that car. Though I always remember the adage my father told me: “every teenager wrecks their first car… some do it fast, some do it slow, but your first car is only one thing: a lesson”
"It doesn't shake anymore"? Is this the same car that needed the CV axle?

I love my 09 Accord 97k miles. My first new car and has never given me any issues at all (that werent taken care of by dealer warranty)
