- Lets learn HOW TO MAKE A BIODOME that connects to your existing NECROMUNDA ZONE MORTALIS terrain! A few coasters, some Christmas baubles and a touch of paint can create a new piece of terrain for your table that stops everything looking like square boxes.
I hope they work out well for you. Super easy to make. If you can make a burger...you can make these!

Ok, the static grass hack could have been a video all by itself. Amazing.
I thought about that but the 20 seconds it took me to say it, I couldn’t spin out into a much longer video. 🤣🤣
There is a Nathan Creed story about a forgotten dome full of ferns and mushroom, with clean water because of an archeotech water purifier. It is called Paradise by Jonathan Green, featured in the Uprising anthology book. There is also a biodome map in the videogame Necromunda Underhive Wars.
THAT’S IT!! Paradise! You’re a genius! Thank you!!
Super cool, I have to read that
Yes, I just read it myself. Heart-rending in a way, the contrast between the underhive and this lush paradise...
so i'm about to buy a static grass applicator and that balloon hack just absolutely blew me away!! awesome video mate!
Thanks. I was worried people wouldn’t see the grass moving on small phone screens. But who cares. I’ve got a bag full of balloons to play with now! 🤣
@@thestateofplay2023 im getting my self some balloons now!!
🤣🎈🎈
As soon as I saw the balloon, I knew I had wasted my life... Genius! :)
If you’ve never seen a balloon before then you’re right- wasted life. 🤣🤣🤣
@@thestateofplay2023 😂 I have seen them before. When I saw you holding one, I knew immediately where you were going with the static application - genius! :)
Biodomes must be the hot new product as 3 or 4 UA-camrs I follow have done these recently, but these are by far the best looking ones I've seen.
Also, if I wasn't already subbed, that balloon tip and skit would have got me!
Hahah! Thank you! Totally coincidence I assure you. I’d seen one other but have had these on my table for a few years. I had to brush the dust off them…🤣
That balloon trick was great.
You should see me make it into a sausage dog, a butterfly and a Velociraptor! 🤣
Get another fantastic video. Please keep them coming. Now where did I put my clear domes at..... 😊
Very clever & the balloon trick was the icing on the cake :) thanks for sharing.
Thanks! 👍🏼
This is a super cool way of expanding the Zone Mortalis terrain. I'm halfway through a project of 3D printing a load of stuff for the same reason, I'll give this a go when I'm back in the UK. Thanks!
Great! Let me know how it goes!
Well poop...i really didn't need another project, but this has inspired me to make something like this. Thanks a whole bunch (no not really im strapped for time as is, but...thanks!) =)
Well, if I helps, you could always “borrow” coasters and Christmas baubles from your families houses. 🤣🤣 Obviously with the full intention of paying them back….soon….sometime….later.
@@thestateofplay2023 Well...they tend to get one of a kind gifts...so...
I really like these. Thank you for sharing!
You’re very welcome! 👍🏼
Love the balloon tip!!
I was just about to try to write the sound a balloon makes when deflating….then realised I have no idea how to write that. Pppfffffffffff. Nope.
Polished, well presented, informative, funny and useful. If this is what you are doing after 2 months on UA-cam I can’t wait to see what you will be doing in a years time. Here for the ride and wish you all the best.
Two thank yous in one day Mr.S. At this rate you’ll be round for beers soon! 😜🤣
@@thestateofplay2023 😂😆
Cracking video. Absolutely smashed it.
It was probably the sturdy shoes!! 🤣🤣
I’ve been wanting to do something similar for BattleTech (to add some color to a lunar surface table) but couldn’t figure out a good way to make the domes. This is brilliant!
No problem mate, I hope they work out for you!!
Oh look another great modeling idea that I'm going to have to try.
Don't I have enough to do Mr bloomin State of Play?
Think you're so big and clever coming round here with your lovely put together, informative and entertaining tutorials, don't yer?
🤣🤣🤣 Call me Will.
Mr. Bloomin State of Play is my Dads name. 😜.
In my defence, you can make this one in less than a hour. So put Geordie Shore on in the background and while making this, you won’t have to actually watch it! 👍🏼
You might have also read about plants in the underhive in the Book of Peril (2019) Pg 48 "DOME JUNGLE Local flora and fungi has claimed the dome for their own, the crumbling remains of habitation completely overgrown by twisting creepers and deadly Carnivorous Plants." There is also a section about the carnivorous plants of Necromunda. Barbed Venomgorse, Shardwarck Spines, Grapple Weed. These are the plants that were in the Killzone Deathworld Forest.
Thanks Dirk!! I think that’s exactly it!
I know i need to make some for my own tables too, since a sci fy dome terrarium works really well for many settings.
Agreed, I use these in loads of games now.
Great idea. Love this approach!
Thank you! 👍🏼
Another great video! Your production is truly excellent!
I would jist say that glass looks a bit to clear and clean. Otherwise excellent!
Yeah I tried absolutely loads of ways to dirty it up. Varnish, wash, pigments, weathering - you name it. But, you couldn’t see any plants through it. So in the end, I gave up and left it clean.
Just gonna kitbash an Escher with a cleaning cloth!!
Another awesome video!
You really do deserve more subs.
I’m patient. 😀
There was something very 'Blue Peter' about this video 😆
That’s because it was “one I made earlier!”
Rather...cracking...build indeed. 😀 Cheers!
Thank you! I’ll accept that compliment from a connoisseur and builder of great terrain such as yourself!
video good!
Yes, awesome! Maybe make some fungi farms aswell?
Yeah, I’m still looking for some good fungi to use, at the right size. Recommendations welcome…
@@thestateofplay2023 they don't have to look like mushrooms, mold is fungi too, I'm using sawdust mixed with pva and then airbrush for some glow, think of it as some exotic necromunda mold used in escher stims and drugs production or something like that
Agreed. I’d like it to look like that mould from The Last of Us but also want it Modular so I can move it around. And that’s the complex bit. 🤔
An added detail, the broken domes should have plants that have died due to the dome being shattered
That’s a great idea. I just didn’t have any dead plants. I’ll pick some up!
@@thestateofplay2023 I would say just paint them to look dried up...snip off bits of the bushes and use brown or yellow tufts and flocking.
@@OKTabletop ah, but I want it to look like they’re being grown and cultivated for medicines or drugs.
@@thestateofplay2023 interesting! You've got some killer ideas and I'm loving your take on terrain builds. Look forward to seeing the final result
@@OKTabletop If you’re on Reddit you can see the end result here:

As it’s modular this is one of a million different possibilities.

Not sure I get the comment but thanks? Erm…
