I had a great time camping at Temperance River. The hike I really don't remember so you are probably right to skip. However the camping was not as crowded as the other parks and the beach was quite good. This was back in the 90s. YMMV.

I bet it was much different in that area back then! Now it is busier but you can still find peace pretty easily. Such a great area to visit.
