- Welcome to another video. in this video I replace the doorman intake manifold on the 04 mustang gt with a PI intake. I also put a set of hotcoils and a air intake on the car. if you liked this video leave a like and a comment. thank you.

recommend putting the filter cover back on to help intake air temps especially being in the south cooler air is denser and makes more power great vid id also recommend getting high flo cats i think those GTs come with 6 convertors so that will help with power to replace or remove them
Is that because the air from the engine bay will be making AIT's higher and putting it back in the box will keep that hot air from the intake? I've heard alot of people use the phrase "hot air intake" when talking about open intake systems. And the rear (easily accessible cats) are gone. I need to get an O2 sensor put on it.
@DavidMcall yes it'll pull in hot engine bay air my Steeda intake gets STUPID hot if I'm idling, lately in TX its been over 100 so intake Temps coming home have been 115+

@@AutoExec1Enclosing the filter to draw air from outside of the hot engine bay air should keep the IAT temperature lower. They design it like this from the factory because they know that the air outside of the engine bay is less hot. Which is why they all draw air from a part of your fender which sucks in air past your headlights. This is why there are cutouts in the metal fender where your factory Airbox sits at.
The intake you had on was either a Factory or an OEM replacement. Dorman intakes did not have a threaded ignition coil spot, and the coolant crossovers were plastic. That one right there was probably fine in a horsepower aspect. Depends how long the car sat but id highly doubt its a dorman one being that they only just recently updated their own design of the intake on the 4.6.
I'm not a fan of hot air intakes setups but other than that, nice mods. Nothing crazy.
I run a filter in the same location and I have cool iats, take your myths elsewhere
I've heard that the intake needs to be kept in the box for cooler air so it doesn't get heat soaked by engine heat. And thank you.

I ran nitrous express on my 4.6 (got videos on my channel) and i just got a kit in for my foxbody. Imo you cant go wrong with nitrous express.
That's the kit I got. I'm planning on doing a 75 wet shot. What did you do on yours? Is it easy to set up? I'm going to check out your videos.
@@AutoExec1 easy to setup. I ran a 125 shot. Fourpointsixchris sprays a 150shot on his 4.6

Thank god somebody finally replaced the Manifold with the Ford Performance one that was designed for the car itself. They tested that Doorman designed manifold. It actually makes the car lose 20HP because of how it’s designed. And please fix that “hot air intake”. My Suburban had a K&N one that was in there from the previous owner and my IAT temperatures were through the roof with it sucking in hot engine bay air while idling. Switched back over to the stock AirBox/AirAid intake tube combo and now it runs 20+ degrees lower IAT temperatures when it’s 90+ degrees outside.
Yeah that doorman manifold is garbage. I'm definitely going to be fixing the intake very soon lol that's a huge AIT difference.
You should throw on an oil catch can asap, it'll save that manifold down the road

I also appreciate you for this, I have been on “edge” about getting a oil catch can, but for sure now I will install one!

@@AutoExec1Go 4:10s. I have an 01 gt 5 speed and was trying to decide between those and 3:73s. 4:10s were the better choice, 3:73s would've felt too slow

i heard you have to close off the intake in a box in that corner or it just circulates hot air n not cold air from how you removed the stock box that gets the regular air from behind that headlight but i just heard it kind of is harmful to use recirculating hot air from the engine bay under that hood but idk , just a thought

Put a steeda air intake on it with the heat sheild, bbk plenum and throttle body, 373 gear, X pipe, cat back and tune. If the funds allow long tubes. That’ll make that car really wake up.
It had the catless X pipe and Flowmaster 40s. I actually sold this one and am currently looking at another broken one to fix.

I definitely will. It has catless X pipe to flomaster 40's. I want to do a different style x pipe like BBK in the future. The next modification will be nitrous oxide.
How do you tell if your intake manifold is OEM or not??
I show a good example in this video. It's sort of hard to explain through text.

Why do you think you lose 25hp with that Dorman intake? I just had one put on my car and it runs just as strong. Didn’t lose any power at all.
I saw a video that did a dyno comparison between a stock manifold and a Dorman. Amd sure enough the car was 25 hp down with the Dorman. Could have been heatsoaked though.
